One key thing that is being missed in this article is the assumption that the attackers were reacting to the movie. Evidence has surfaced that this was a multi-level preplanned attack (and that the embassy had warning). So the movie is just a convenient excuse for the attackers to blame America and the U.S. is being played a fool to be apologizing for it.

The thought that came to mind on reading this and Bobby's comment is "what's going on here?"
Is this regime aware of things that are not in the public domain that tell them in clear fashion that they are going to lose big time in Nov.?
If, for example, the internal polls show a wipe out, and the true economic numbers show another crash in the next couple of weeks so they reach the conclusion that there's no hope left, what changes will they try to force through in the time left?
I would not put it past these vermin to go gotterdmerung on the country and try to take us all down with them.

It kind of makes sense if Champ knows he won't be re-elected. Why bother going to intel meetings? Why talk to Joos? Just phone it in, hang with celebs at glitzy fundraisers and pick out curtains for your Hawaiian mansion.
