#4 Possible, but unlikely Raider. We appear to be perfectly capable of orchestrating our own international disasters. Additionally, the tragic events of the past few days can only complicate the delicate situation the Russians now face in Syria.

#5 Those Russian in Syria, even under the guise of diplomatic immunity, have a fig leaf of protection if the Islamist punk Assad. Putie has reason to be concerned when the 'other side' has no use for Western sensibilities.
