Florida woman was shoplifting when her car with 2 children inside burst into flames: police
[NYPOST] A Florida woman was shoplifting inside a retail store when she left two children unattended in a vehicle that burst into flames, police said.

Alicia Moore, 24, an Orlando resident, is charged with aggravated child neglect and arson, FOX Orlando reported.

On May 26, Moore parked her car outside a Dillard’s department store at the Oviedo Mall and left two children "who could not care for themselves" inside the vehicle, authorities said.

She then went into the store and began shoplifting with a man, police said.

After about an hour, Moore left the store and found her vehicle engulfed in flames.

She dropped the stolen items before leaving the store, the news report said.

Witnesses saw the car on fire and rescued the children inside.

One child suffered first-degree burns to her face and ears.

Florida mom arrested after 11-month-old left in hot car while she officiated church service dies
[NYPOST] A Florida mother has been arrested in the death of her 11-month-old baby, who was left alone in a hot car for three hours while she officiated a church service.

Bulaine Molme, 37, was booked late Thursday into the Brevard County jail on a felony count of manslaughter of a child.

Her arrest came four days after police were called to Mount of Olives Evangelical Church in Palm Bay, which is run by Molme and her pastor husband, for reports of an unresponsive infant.

First responders learned that the baby had been left in her mother’s car for about three hours while Molme and other family members attended Sunday service at the church, ClickOrlando reported.

Detectives determined that Molme had arrived late to the service, which she was set to officiate, and told cops she believed her daughter was brought inside by a member of the congregation.

#16  My memory is shot as I can't remember which ball park I went to after Fulton County. I was staying at the Marriot downtown for a conference (2015-ish), and I went to a game vs. the Astros before the Astros moved to the American League. There was a shuttle service available pretty close by to take you to the park.

That was when I really enjoyed baseball and watching the pitchers bat. Now, the rule changes (among other things) drive me nuts.

I'm an AL guy but never liked the DH which served to keep a bunch of washed-up players who can't play even 1B on the payroll.

Utah School District Bans King James Version Bible Due to 'Violence and Vulgarity'
[Gateway] The Davis School District in Utah has removed the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible from the shelves of every school level in the district besides high school.

According to Fox 13 News, the KJV Bible was banned due to it not being "age appropriate" and because it contained "violence and vulgarity."

In total 8 elementary and middle schools banned the KJV Bible.

A spokesperson for the district stated the Bible "does not contain sensitive material as defined by Utah Code but still pulled it from certain schools because of age appropriateness."

In March The Gateway Pundit warned readers Davis County School District was on the verge of banning the Bible due to a far-left parent claiming it was the “one of the most sex-ridden books around.“

Jemele Hill is out at Spotify after daring the company to pay her or another black host $100 million to match Joe Rogan
[OutKick] Update: Jemele Hill says what has been reported about her isn’t true. She says her podcast was not “canceled,” but didn’t deny the cited Bloomberg report she is “leaving” Spotify.

In fact, she states she is leaving due to “investment and growth” differences, which Bloomberg reported — and is cited below — was due to Spotify needing “to rein in costs and deliver profits.”

She also says she never directly “asked Spotify for $100 million.” That is correct. But as also reported below, she publicly challenged Spotify to “hand $100 million to somebody who is black.”

“Somebody,” as in one person — meaning herself or another black podcaster, as reported.

It’s unclear what Hill sought to accomplish with her tweet. Perhaps all she cleared up is that she would be out of the company but has not yet left. Anyway, you can read the Bloomberg report here, and our context below:

Jane Fonda, 85, Spotted in Wheelchair at LAX 6 Months After Revealing Her Cancer Was in Remission

Jane Fonda was seen being pushed in a wheelchair around Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday, May 31, nearly six months after announcing her cancer was officially in remission.

The Grace and Frankie star looked as elegant [sic] as ever, sporting a black jacket and a deep purple sweater over a white, button up shirt. She completed the look with matching black pants, a small black bag, a light-framed pair of sunglasses and a face mask to help keep her safe from further health risks.

Last September, the beloved 80 for Brady actress took to social media with a somber post announcing that she'd been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and had already started chemo treatments.

"This is a very treatable cancer. 80% of people survive, so I feel very lucky,"....

[She is an old bag whose departure from this earth would be most welcome in some circles, but just to pile on (from 1 Feb 21)...]

Media Highlights Amazon Crybabies
[Epoch Times] Amazon employees walked out at the company’s Seattle headquarters, to highlight their concerns over recent layoffs, a return to office policy, and the company’s environmental impact.

More than 2,000 Amazon employees worldwide walked off the job after 1 p.m., Pacific Time, on May 31, of which 1,000 of them gathered next to the Spheres, the landmark entrance to the online tech giant’s Seattle headquarters, according to employee groups behind the protest.

Other employees said they planned to participate in the protest virtually.
What exactly is a virtual protest?
The company told CNBC that it estimated that only 300 employees participated in the Seattle walkout, out of its 65,000 corporate and tech employees in the Puget Sound region and the roughly 350,000 workers worldwide.
A MASSIVE turnout - 0.085% of total employment.
Amazon Employees for Climate Justice (AECJ), an organization founded by employees that partially organized the walk out, has repeatedly pressured the company’s management over its climate stance.

"As AECJ, we’re walking out to tell leadership that climate action cannot be sidelined. When will Amazon have all electric vehicles? When will it stop building pipelines for data centers? When will there be a real plan to reduce emissions instead of increase them every year?" the employee group, posted on Twitter on May 23.

The climate change advocacy group said that employees would walk out to highlight a lack of trust in "senior leadership’s decision-making."

Amazon also recently carried out the largest layoffs in its 29-year history, slashing 27,000 positions across its cloud computing, advertising, retail, and other departments, since last fall.

On May 1, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy ordered corporate office employees to return to their desks at least three days a week, cutting back on the remote work arrangements that employees had gotten used to since the pandemic. Jassy said in February, that the company had made the decision after reviewing work habits during the pandemic, noting that employees tended to be more productive working together in person.

Government Corruption
The Censors are Exposed: Major Update to Missouri v. Biden from Tracy Beanz
[Brownstone] Many of you have heard me discuss this case in detail, as I have been reporting on it diligently for the past year. However, some of you are unsure of why it is important, or what it all means. This thread will serve as a summary to this point, and a detailed explanation of the last filing in the case which is a virtual handbook to government censorship based on the limited discovery provided so far.

Missouri v. Biden was filed on May 5, 2022. Since it was initially filed, it has taken quite a trip through the court system. The complaint has been amended three times, with the most recent amendment being to transform the case into a class suit—this due to the overwhelming evidence of broad harm to the constitutional rights of all Americans. You can view the docket by using the link here.

The complaint alleged that the US Government was not only threatening and coercing social media companies to censor Americans on social media, but they were also working with social media companies to accomplish that goal. It alleged that topics surrounding covid, the origins of covid, the Great Barrington Declaration, election integrity concerns, the covid shot, the Hunter Biden laptop story (and more) were under scrutiny by the White House and other government agencies—and that the government had very publicly threatened to take action against social media companies should they not act to censor viewpoints on those topics that were disfavored by the government.

The Plaintiffs in the case (the states of Missouri and Louisiana, along with several other private plaintiffs, including Aaron Kheriaty, Jay Bhattacharya, and Martin Kulldorff) moved for expedited discovery to be able to obtain a limited set of evidence as well as depositions of certain officials. This evidence, they argued, would allow them to make the case for a temporary injunction to stop the government from infringing on the First Amendment rights of Plaintiffs and their citizens.

#1  The judge has done the right thing the entire time. The appeals court has done the right thing the entire time. The depositions were granted, the discovery was granted, the motion to dismiss was denied—the judge has expressed several times his shock at what the plaintiffs have exposed.

The incident occurred on Friday when the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express derailed and was subsequently hit by the Howrah Superfast Express on an adjacent track.

The collision caused severe damage, with train compartments torn open and passengers lying beside the tracks. Rescue efforts are underway, with the priority being the rescue of trapped passengers and providing medical support to the injured.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his distress over the incident and extended his condolences to the families affected. Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed his deep anguish at the tragedy. Local authorities and rescue teams have been deployed to the site, with ambulances and buses transporting the injured and survivors to hospitals. Medical personnel have been dispatched to provide immediate medical assistance.

The exact number of casualties and injured individuals remains uncertain, as rescue operations continue. Indian Railways executive director Amitabh Sharma said that apart from two passenger trains involved in the accident, a parked goods train also became involved. Concerns are growing that the corpse count may rise further, as there are reports of passengers still trapped under the wreckage.

Rail accidents are unfortunately not uncommon in India, with hundreds of incidents occurring each year. The government has made significant investments and technological upgrades to improve railway safety, resulting in a reduction in such accidents in recent years.

#1  hundreds of incidents occurring each year

Isn't that less than Pete's annual rate?

#2  Guy I work with sez there were shitloads of people on the top of the trains; probably hanging off the sides as well. If that's the case I'm pretty sure that misses the point of safe train travel, Pete Buttjob or otherwise.

#4  This does surprise me. I did ride the trains in India, albeit 10 years ago, and had a very pleasant experience.

#6  A sideswipe at speed is probably worse than a head-on or rear-end collision. The passenger cars are designed for front or rear impacts, but not to peel off the side of the car. Not to mention any folks riding on top.

NHTSA moves to mandate automatic emergency brakes in all new vehicles
Great. Another poorly engineered system to fail.
I've disabled the Anti-Brake-Skidding system.
Now I can work on my Eyesight.

[FoxNews] The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is looking to put the brakes on pedestrian deaths.

The federal safety agency is proposing new rules that would mandate automatic emergency braking systems in all new vehicles within three years.

Automakers entered a voluntary agreement to add the technology to their fleets in 2016 and it is already equipped in 90% of passenger vehicles.

The new rules would increase the speeds at which they operate and also require pedestrian detection capability in light duty models.

#1  Our two-year old car has such a system, which warned me when I got too close to another vehicle.

The good new was the insurance rate went down for the newer newer car, because 'all the safety features make it harder to get into an accident'.

#2  NHTSA estimates that the feature's availability will save 360 lives

#3  Meanwhile there are reports that the automatic braking feature is going off in class 8, (OTR tractors) when no situation requires it. So far no accidents resulted but bring looked into

#5  I just spent a grand on my anti-lock brake system. Driving down the highway at 55 and the anti-lock decided to turn itself on. Damn near wrecked. Had to replace all sensors, calipers, brake pads, and one ball joint. When I was driving a taxi for CSX the taxis had this system. I never had a problem with it but I never needed it, either.
