"The continuation of such conflict will affect the Afghanistan grinding of the peace processor," Taliban Spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid was quoted as saying.

Jaish into real estate, trading to fund terror acts
[TimesofIndia] Banned terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad
...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf banned the group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat...
, long dependent on the Pak state and donations, has over the years opened "legitimate businesses" to raise cash for carrying out its main task of exporting terror to India.

Since 2007, the terror outfit has been investing in real estate, production and distribution of consumer goods and commodity trading, an assessment by Indian and US intelligence officials said. According to the US state department, Jaish doesn’t keep money in banks now to avoid seizures.

"These investments are known to ISI and the Pak military but they allow JeM to flourish as it suits their anti-India agenda," said an officer, requesting anonymity.

Fazl calls for early joint session of parliament over LoC violation
[DAWN] Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...a Pak religious party. It is usually part of the govt, never part of the solution...
-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman on Tuesday called for urgently summoning a joint session of parliament to discuss the fresh violation of the Line of Control (LoC) by India.

Addressing a congregation at a seminary, Jamia Islamia Isha’atul Koran-o-Hadith, he said an in-camera session of parliament should discuss the issue which was vital for national security. Describing the matter of intrusion of the enemy into Pakistain’s boundaries as very serious, he observed that India had under the cover of night violated the LoC.

He said the entire nation stood with the country’s defence forces in protecting the frontiers; all issues should be placed before the joint session of parliament. He appealed to the nation to demonstrate strong unity at this critical moment and prayed for the armed forces.

The maulana, who also heads Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), also talked about the rallies the JUI-F and MMA was successfully holding under the title of ’million march’ throughout the country and referred to a recent rally held one in Badin. He said the huge public participation spoke volumes about peoples’ commitment to safeguard the Islamic identity of Pakistain and its ideology. He said the eighth ’million march’ would be held in a couple of days in Nasirabad [Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
].

With an apparent reference to the Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI)-led government, he alleged that they were attempting to go against the ideology of Pakistain and in the same breath added that they would not succeed.

Speaking on the occasion, JUI-F Sindh chapter general secretary Maulana Rashid Mehmood Soomro claimed that the JUI-F occupied central position in the province and had emerged as a genuine representative party of the people of Sindh. According to him, the movement launched would continue to help redress public problems. "We condemn in strongest terms the violation of the Line of Control by India," he said and pledged to protect every inch of the country.

At Indian air raid site, no casualties and a mysterious madrassa
[Al Jazeera] Indian air strikes launched on Pak territory earlier this week destroyed parts of a mostly uninhabited forest and a farmer's field, witnesses and local officials told Al Jazeera, although mystery remains around a seminary run by gang Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) near the bombing site.

Four bombs hit a forest and a field in a remote area outside of the northern Pak town of Jaba, about 100km north of capital Islamabad, Al Jazeera found on a visit to the site on Wednesday.

Splintered pine trees and rocks were strewn across the blast craters, and there was no evidence of any infrastructure debris or casualties. Metal shrapnel from the bombs was visible at four distinct craters.

India claimed on Tuesday to have conducted air strikes against a "Jaish-e-Mohammed training camp" in the area, saying "a very large number of JeM terrorists, trainers, senior commanders and groups of jihadis who were being trained for [suicide] action were eliminated."

Pakistain denied that any casualties had occurred. On Wednesday, Pakistain's military said its aircraft launched air strikes on six locations on the India-administered territory in the disputed region of Kashmire.

Local hospital officials and several residents who rushed to the scene said they did not find any bodies or maimed people following the Indian attack, which took place at approximately 3:00am local time on Tuesday.

"I woke up at the sound of the first kaboom, and ran out of bed," said Nooran Shah, 58, a farmer on whose land two of the bombs landed. "The second blast knocked the doors off my house."

UN probe accuses Israel of possible 'crimes against humanity'
A UN probe said Thursday said that the Israeli response to 2018 Gaza riots "may constitute war crimes."

"Israeli soldiers committed violations of international human rights and humanitarian law. Some of those violations may constitute war crimes or crimes against humanity," the chair of the "UN Independent Commission of Inquiry on the protests in the Occupied Palestinian Territory," Santiago Canton, said in a statement.

Well, sure. One of the basic principles of shooting stuff is have a clear view of the target. Given that this 'probe' comes from the UN Human Rights Commission (ptui), you can file it under Same Shit, Different Era.

Iraq
Peshmerga display array of explosives cleared during ISIS conflict
Lots of photos at the link.
[Rudaw] The Peshmerga engineering teams showcased ISIS-made bombs that were confiscated during the conflict against the jihadist group since 2014.

Samples of 120 explosives were shown in the fair in Kore sub-district in Erbil province.

Peshmerga forces were able to destroy 20,000 mines, improvised-bombs (IEDs), and unwent kaboom! ordinance during the conflict, especially in Nineveh Plains.

ISIS controlled swathes of Iraqi soil in 2014, taking the country nearly four years to announce its defeat. However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
it still remains a threat to Iraq on its borders with Syria where the last holdout of the Death Eaters east of the Euphrates is under heavy attack by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Commander of the unit, Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Hussein Kakai, told Rudaw English in July that the Peshmerga have written a book detailing the different types of explosives used by ISIS. The book has been shared with the US-led international coalition.

Iraq is the most mined country in the world because of cycles of violence which stretch back decades.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
IDF Probe of Gaza Riots Reveals Nearly 1,500 Rockets Fired Since March
[Jerusalem Post] The IDF has released a document detailing the year-long Great March of Return protests along the Gaza border, including new details that have not been previously released.

The Great March of Return protests began on March 30th and has seen thousands of Gazans violently demonstrating along the security fence with Israel, demanding an end to the 12-year long blockade.

According to the military, over a half million people have attended the protests since they began, with the number of Palestinians congregating at points along the border between several thousand to 45,000 each day. The rioters are provided with electricity, free wireless Internet and network connections, as well as food and drink by Hamas.

During the violent protests, Gazans have been burning tires and hurling stones and marbles as well as throwing of grenades and improvised explosive devices (including military-grade explosives) toward IDF troops. Ball bearings and other projectiles have also been hurled by protesters, often by using high-velocity slingshots.

In addition, mines and booby-trapped explosive devices with delayed detonation devices are also laid along the fence during the riots under the cover of smoke and crowds and "pose a direct threat to the lives and safety of IDF forces operating in the border area," the military said.

According to the military, "drones used by the IDF to deliver tear gas have been felled by using electronic jamming as well as by shooting them down from the sky."

Terror Networks
NYPD: MS-13 Planning To Target Off-Duty Cops At Their Homes
The NYPD is warning police officers about a possible threat from the MS-13 gang, particularly when they are off-duty.

CBS2’s Dick Brennan reports that in a bulletin the NYPD put out this alert: "Members of MS-13 are looking to ’hit’ NYPD police officers, specifically in the Brentwood/Central Islip area as well as possibly Patchogue."

The bulletin says that the gang members would carry out the attacks on off-duty officers "in order to gain street credibility."

While the threat has not been substantiated, law enforcement experts say this cannot be taken lightly.

"Whenever a law enforcement officer is being threatened, especially by an organization like MS-13 which we already know is uber violent and has killed numerous people throughout the country if not throughout the world, this has to be taken serious," said former FBI agent Manny Gomez.

The gang’s reign of terror has spread widely, particularly in Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties and includes murder, drugs, child prostitution and racketeering.

The bulletin suggests the gang may be looking to target police officers off-duty near their homes, warning that "these members are conducting reconnaissance of MOS private residences"

"They are going above and beyond what any other gang does, and the scary part is that we already know that they legitimately carry out their threats and they are extremely violent," said Gomez.

Police are warning law enforcement to take extra precautions and not to let their guard down particularly when they are in and around their homes and off duty.

They say that includes changing routines whenever possible.

#4  MS-13 gang may be thugs but I doubt they would do anything like targeting cops at home

MS-13 needs revenue to survive just like other gangs and to get revenue they need some sort of ROE with the police even if the rules are not public
