[FoxNews] New York Times columnist Paul Krugman is appearing to be having technical difficulties as he acknowledged Wednesday on Twitter that his IP address had been "compromised" and used to "download child pornography."
"Well, I’m on the phone with my computer security service, and as I understand it someone compromised my IP address and is using it to download child pornography," Krugman wrote in a now-deleted tweet. "I might just be a random target. But this could be an attempt to Qanon me. It’s an ugly world out there."
Qanon is a reference to the group of conspiracy theorists who in recent years spread incriminating myths against many high-profile Democrats on social media.
Hours later, Krugman deleted the tweet, saying that the Times was "now on the case" that it could have been a "scam."
"Deleted original tweet. Times thinks it may have been a scam. Anyway, will have more security in future," Krugman wrote.
And courtesy of Herb McCoy, a twitter thread on the subject:

Re the Twitter thread (thanks, 'Erb!), IIRC Krugman's behavior follows the exact same pattern shown by other busted high-profile child pr0n aficionados such as one of the British 60s invasion rockers ... I forgot which one.
The standard SOE for those monsters seems to be:
1. Get busted
2. Claim to have been "hacked"
3. Make lots of noise and busy motions that you're supposedly "on the case" and hunting down the dastardly hackers

I suppose it's possible that like Brennan, Jeh Johnson and others he could have been the victim of illegal access gained by a fifteen year-old "Cracka" who pranked his ISP's call center idiots who then let the prankster into his computer through the front door as it were.
But not likely.
No one, not even demented fifteen year-old anarchists like the above perp, Kane Gabriel, gives a shit about this former-economist-who-types-boring-screeds-ad-nauseam

You don't compromise an IP. You spoof it. Easy thing to do, but Krugman wouldn't have anyway of knowing if that happened, unless perhaps one his accounts reported an access from his IP that he knew wasn't him. So it sounds like prepping his defense in advance once he caught wind he was under investigation.
On the flip side, this has become the new 'dropsy' testimony. It's just too easy for the cops to plant incriminating files on your PC - so they do.
[LawrencePerson] Science fiction writer and editor Mike Resnick died this morning a little after midnight according to a post by his daughter Laura Resnick, due to an aggressive lymphoma that followed on the heels of major surgery.
Mike was a friend from way back in the pre-WWW days of the Delphi Wednesday Night Group in the late 1980s, where a bunch of science fiction people (Resnick, Pat Cadigan, Gardner Dozois, myself, Dwight and many others) hung out on a regular basis.
He got involved with science fandom early in life and never left. Mike was one of the last of a dying breed of science fiction’s writing machines, someone who early-on mastered the ability to crank out a prodigious amount of wordage every day. The Kirinyaga stories in the 1980s, set an orbital African primativist tribal “utopia,” was where he really started to make his mark, and he became a regular Hugo and Nebula winner back when that meant something. He edited dozens of anthologies, frequently buying work by new writers, and eventually founding Galaxy’s Edge. He raised prize-winning collies and collected books on Africa. When the Social Justice Warrior mob came for him and Barry Malzberg for the usual stupid reasons he told them to go pound sand.

He was an enjoyable writer to read. His first work that I read was Santiago, which is also one of his more famous ones. I'm saddened to hear he's no longer with us. I really miss Pournelle, especially as he never was able to flesh out the tale of Hal Slater in his Falkenberg stories like he said he planned to.
A Florida woman accused of flinging a bucket of human feces in her landlord’s face claimed she meant to throw a bucket of water but got the two containers mixed up, according to the Miami Herald.
Volusia County sheriff’s deputies responded Saturday to a trailer in Osteen, where they found Joanne Mercader, 59, with caked poop on her face and another woman dripping in human waste, the newspaper reported.
Mercader initially told police that her landlord had tossed a bucket of feces onto her “as a method of eviction,” according to the incident report.
“My landlord just broke into my house and assaulted me,” said Mercader, who tried to explain her appearance by claiming the landlord took the poop and “rubbed it all over [my face].”
But the deputies weren’t fooled, particularly after Mercader admitted that the incident stemmed from an ongoing dispute with the 65-year-old woman.
“In a long time that I’ve been doing this job, I’ve never seen anything like it, OK?” the deputy said, according to bodycam video. “I’m not disputing what you’re telling me but … she’s dripping with it, soaking wet. [Yours] is not.”
Mercader later admitted to accidentally throwing the vile contents at the landlord “as soon as she entered the residence,” according to the report.
“Joanne claimed she intended to use a bucket of water but got the two buckets confused,” the deputy wrote.
The victim told the deputies that she had previously arranged with Mercader to “check on broken items within the residence.”

I drive to / thru Osteen regularly. Nice place. We are getting a Tractor Supply store a couple miles from my house so I guess I won't get over that way as often...

Understand, in Florida the only places you are not within walking distance of the "other side of the tracks" is Fisher Island and Jupiter. Anywhere else, we be very diverse and integrated.

[WASHINGTONTIMES] Montana’s Glacier National Park is updating its signs to no longer predict its signature glaciers would be melted by 2020.
Park spokeswoman Gina Kurzmen said the signs that were added more than a decade ago to reflect climate change forecasts at the time will be replaced to more accurately reflect the glaciers’ fate, CNN reported Wednesday.
The new signs will reportedly read, “When they will completely disappear depends on how and when we act. One thing is consistent: the glaciers in the park are shrinking.”

Fossilised sign discovered in nearby roadcut (looks like random stampings and trampings to me, but I'm assured it translates as follows):
How dare you deplorable carnivores
Deny vegan science! It's Weather Wars:
We can't really time it --
c'mon, it's the climate --
But panic today! SAVE THE DINOSAURS!
[Sudan Tribune] The United States Treasury Department imposed individual sanctions on South Sudanese First Vice President Taban Deng Gai, for his involvement in the killing of political activists.
"As First Vice President, Deng reportedly arranged and directed the disappearance and deaths of human rights ...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless... lawyer Samuel Dong Luak (Dong) and SPLM-IO member Aggrey Idry (Aggrey)," said the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
According to the OFAC, the first vice-president who had broken away from the SPLM-IO directed the murder of the two activists thinking he consolidates his position in the government of President Salva Kiir and would weaken support for opposition leader Riek.
"(He) had regularly sent his own security officials to monitor and plan the abduction of SPLM-IO members located outside of South Sudan, " said the statement adding he wanted to send a clear message to all SPLM-IO members that they were not safe even outside of the country.
On10 December 2019, the US Treasury Department designated already South Sudanese individuals for their involvement in the death of Dong and Aggrey.
The sanctions against the first vice-president are implemented under the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act that targets perpetrators of serious human rights abuses and corruption
The sanctions freeze Gai’s U.S. assets and generally prohibit Americans from doing business with him.
The statement said that the Gai’s attempt to silence the opposition party is derailing South Sudan’s ability to implement the peace agreement

[Arutz 7] - Hospital X-ray technician Tristan Morgan, 52, was arrested at his England home where he was found smelling of gasoline with burns on his hands, forehead, and hair, after attempting to torch the Exeter Synagogue in Devon, England. He pled guilty to arson and two charges under the Terrorism Act following a hearing at the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey) in London.
CCTV video shows Morgan walking to the back of the synagogue and smashing a window with an axe. He then returned with a can of gasoline and poured it into the broken window. He then lit the gasoline that flared back at him, leaving him to extinguish his own flaming cranium.
Morgan was first charged in connection with a fire at Exeter Synagogue on Saturday July 21, 2018. Following a joint investigation by local officers and Counter Terrorism Policing South West working with the Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Morgan was further charged with collecting information and encouraging terror. video at the link

[The Last Refuge] One of the key sectors gaining benefit from the USMCA trade agreement is the auto sector. Rules on steel and aluminum smelting/origination, and rules on part origination from North America are key aspects to the trade agreement that shifts focus from the import of Asian manufactured parts for assembly to manufacturing in North America.
Essentially, seventy-five percent of the component parts for the auto industry must be manufactured in North America. This shift directly puts U.S. auto-workers at the forefront for job gains & stops the process of using manufactured parts from China, Asia or the EU.
The goal of the agreement was/is to make manufacturing investment in North America the main consideration for auto-manufacturers who want access to the U.S. market. Today, as a direct result of future investment considerations, General Motors and Ford unexpectedly surprise 1,500 auto-workers with the announcement their jobs have gone from part-time to full-time status. Great news for these families

More than 1,500. Add family members PLUS suppliers of goods and services whose jobs are dependent on these auto workers' having high-paying reliable employment... more like ~10,000 additional Trump votes in Michigan. That's enough to put MI in Trump's column.

[WSJ] The cancer death rate in the U.S. dropped 2.2% from 2016 to 2017, the largest single-year drop ever recorded, according to the latest report from the American Cancer Society, continuing a longstanding decline that began a quarter-century ago.
The drop is largely driven by progress against lung cancer, though the most rapid declines in the report occurred in melanoma. Advances in treatment are helping improve survival rates in the two cancers, experts say.
Falling smoking rates have played a big role in the decline in lung-cancer deaths, cancer doctors say, as well as improvements in detection and treatment. For melanoma, the report singles out the emergence of drugs like Roche Holding AG ’s Zelboraf that target the molecular roots of tumors and therapies like Yervoy from Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., which enlist a patient’s own immune system in the cancer fight.
Roche, Bristol and other drug makers have spent tens of billions of dollars in recent years developing new therapies such as Zelboraf, Yervoy and new generations of the treatments. The $123 billion world-wide cancer drugs market is among the industry’s biggest and fastest growing, which has prompted companies to double down on their research and promises even more agents that could make a dent against tumors.
"Our work with personalized medicines, such as Zelboraf, deepens our understanding of the underlying biology of cancer," said a spokesperson for Genentech, one of the companies that developed Zelboraf and is owned by Roche. "We are continually building up this knowledge to help more people across many different types of cancer."
Despite the progress, cancer remains the second-leading cause of death in the U.S., after heart disease. And declines in colorectal, breast and prostate cancer deaths have slowed. The report, published Wednesday in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians, projects 1.8 million new cancer cases and 600,000 cancer deaths in the U.S. in 2020.

Good idea BP. Intermittent fasting is a good idea. The body handles many tasks. Similar to Triage. When we eat, resources are diverted from other needs. Many times people have less pain when not eating. COPD patients less S.O.B. I noticed cancer patients were less inclined to eat as they feel better, so they said or would not feel worse after eating.

After a massive die off, the stats adjust. It's only a pause. When the now legal pot smokers age up, they'll get the graph raising again. What part of inducing particulate matter in the lungs don't they grasp?

I should add cancer cells thrive in, low Oxygen levels, acid chemistry, poor circulation and normal body temperature. Check with labs that grow these cultures for studies (my source University lab tech.).
