[An Nahar] The governor of Sudan's war-torn South Kordofan state, who is wanted on war crimes charges, has been transferred to a neighboring region where fighting spread this year, the presidency said on Friday.
Ahmed Haroun's move to North Kordofan, where he will be acting governor, comes as part of changes which establish a new state of West Kordofan, presidential press secretary Emad Sayed Ahmed said in a statement.
Haroun was elected governor of South Kordofan in a May 2011 election disputed by his opponent from the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N).
Khartoum tried to disarm the Movement's military wing, leading to war the following month.
Fighting then spread to Blue Nile state in September 2011.
Later that year the ethnic minority SPLM-N joined rebels from Sudan's far-west Darfur region to form the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) to topple the 24-year Islamist regime of President Omar al-Bashir Head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself president-for-life. He has fallen out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it. The SRF in April this year staged its first joint operation, sweeping through a previously peaceful part of North Kordofan as part of coordinated attacks in the region.
Analysts said the rebel strike humiliated the authorities, who took a month to retake one of the seized areas, Abu Kershola in the far-north of South Kordofan.
Haroun is sought by The Hague-based International Criminal Court ... where Milosevich died of old age before being convicted ... on 22 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed in Darfur several years ago.

[Al Ahram] Yosri Hammad, vice chairman of the Salafist Watan Party, has attacked the National Salvation Front (NSF) -- a coalition of primarily liberal and leftist political groups -- for which it blamed Egypt's current state of "strife and division."
He is right, dear Reader. If only everyone surrendered to the Salafists-- or whichever taqfiri group happens to be the one speaking at the moment -- there would be no strife or division whatsoever. Bad things would still happen, as the particular taqfiris at the top of the heap gleefully wielded power (see Saudi Arabia or life under the Taliban in Afghanistan for numerous examples, but that isn't strife and division.
In a Friday statement, Hammad -- whose party supports deposed president Mohamed Morsi's "legitimate right" to complete his presidential term -- said: "The [NSF] has made political gains under the protection of the [Egyptian army] and has realised a political scenario whereby it excludes its political rivals with the use of media discourse that promotes hate and violence."
On 3 July, the Egyptian army deposed President Morsi amid mass demonstrations -- led by the Rebel campaign and other opposition forces, including the NSF -- calling for his ouster.
The next day, Adly Mansour, head of Egypt's High Constitutional Court, was sworn in as interim president.
Meanwhile, ...back at the pie fight, Bella grabbed the cocoanut cream... the National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, a Moslem Brüderbund-led group that demands Morsi's reinstatement, has been organising large demonstrations and sit-ins around Cairo.
"I don't know how this crisis can be resolved," Hammad said. "But we face it now because of those who did not respect the constitution and the law."
Hammad also condemned recent political violence, saying that "Egyptian blood is a red line."
"Our political differences should not drag us into killing and attacks on peaceful demonstrators or coppers," he said.
He went on to voice his "sorrow" for the death of an Egyptian policeman in a Death Eater attack in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula on Friday.
He also stressed his sorrow for the over 50 pro-Morsi demonstrators killed by military personnel on Monday outside Republican Guard headquarters in Cairo.
The Moslem Brüderbund is the group that propelled Morsi to power in Egypt's first-ever free presidential election one year ago.
Hammad stressed that pro-Morsi protesters were opposed to any resort to violence.
On Friday, hundreds of thousands of Morsi supporters converged on Rabaa Al-Adawiya Mosque in Cairo's Nasr City district where a mass rally is being held to demand Morsi's reinstatement.
Meanwhile, ...back at the barn, a little lightbulb figuratively appeared over Bossy's head... in Tahrir Square, several thousands gathered for a communal Ramadan breakfast to voice their support for Morsi's ouster by the military.
After issuing an interim constitutional declaration and appointing a prime minister, Egypt is now awaiting the appointment of a new government cabinet for the upcoming transitional period.

[An Nahar] The United States on Friday urged the Egyptian military and interim leaders to free deposed president Mohammed Morsi for the first time since he was placed in durance vile Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! over a week ago.
State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the United States agreed with Germany's earlier appeal for Morsi to be released and was "publicly" making the same request.
Morsi has been held in a "safe place," according to the interim leaders, and has not been seen in public since being ousted on July 3.
In past days, while condemning arbitrary arrests, Psaki had refused to say whether the U.S. administration believed Morsi should be freed.
Psaki said she was making the call for Morsi's release "today, publicly," but refused to say what had determined the U.S. change of stance.

Morsi being held for his own safety: army Former president Mohamed Morsi is being held at a military facility for his own security, the armed forces said on Saturday.
Spokesman for the armed forces Colonel Ahmed Ali said that due to the current instability in the country, Morsi would be held for his own safety until the situation stabilises.
However Egyptian prosecutor has received complaints against Mursi Egypt's public prosecutor's office said on Saturday it had received complaints accusing deposed President Mohamed Mursi and other senior leaders of his Muslim Brotherhood of spying, inciting killings of protesters and damaging the economy.
The prosecutor's office said in a statement it was investigating the complaints to prepare a file so that those accused could be questioned. It did not say who had lodged the complaints.
Egypt's legal system allows prosecutors to investigate complaints made by the police or by any member of the public. It can take days or months for formal charges to appear. Prosecutors rarely issue statements based on complaints before charges are filed.
The statement named eight other Islamist figures including the Brotherhood's top leader, Mohamed Badie, and the deputy leader of its political party Essam El-Erian, and said others had also been named.
Mursi has been held incommunicado at an undisclosed location with since the military removed him from power on July 3. Badie and El-Erian are among senior Brotherhood officials that the authorities have already said are wanted over accusations they incited violence.
"We flew him away for his own safety, but for some unknown reason he jumped out of the helicopter. Guess we forgot to lock the door. Sorry."

[An Nahar] The U.N. refugee agency on Friday expressed deep concern over a new Egyptian visa requirement for Syrians and reports that Syrian refugees were being returned to their war-ravaged country.
"I appeal to the Egyptian authorities, as I have to all other governments in the world, to admit and protect all Syrians seeking refuge in their country," U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres said in a statement.
"I fully understand the challenges faced by Egypt at the present moment. But the traditional hospitality of the Egyptian people should not be denied to Syrians trying to flee the most devastating and dangerous conflict in the world today."
Guterres's comments came after Egypt earlier this week said it now requires all Syrians travelling to the country to apply for a visa at the Egyptian embassy -- a process Cairo said would take 10 to 15 days.

The paper quoted the Nigerian military front man, Brig-Gen. Chris Olukolade, as saying the military was yet to be informed of the ceasefire agreement.
"We are not aware of any ceasefire yet," he was quoted to have said of the deal, which the Minister for Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, announced Tuesday.
The paper also quoted an unnamed military source as saying: "Is that how to sign a ceasefire. They are not serious. They are just fooling themselves and I am sure that the man is on his own. Surely, that is not how to sign a ceasefire. You cannot sign a ceasefire without carrying the troops along. He cannot fool anybody.'
According to the minister, who also heads the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution on Security Challenges in the North, both sides have reached an 'understanding' that will lead to the signing of a cease-fire agreement at a later date.
He also said the sect had unilaterally declared a cease-fire ahead of the Musselmen holy month of Ramadan.
The umbrella Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has also expressed doubts about the reported pact.
Boko Haram, which means Western education is sin, launched its violent campaign in 2009, shortly after the police potted its leader, Mohammed Yusuf.
The group, which said it is campaigning to establish an Islamic state, has killed over 3,000 people in gun and kabooms.

Speaking through an interpreter, he said: "I am a member of the Shurah Council but not under Boko Haram. I did not participate in any bombing."
Asked by the prosecuting council, Mrs Chioma Onuegbu, if it was true that he got his orders from Abu Shekau, Sokoto said: "As we all know, Shekau is a leader of Boko Haram but not the Shurah Council and it is not true that when I beat feet from police custody, I spoke to Shekau on phone."
Asked if he was aware that it was Shekau that gave orders regarding where kabooms should be carried out and that the sect had so many sections, including a wing in charge of armed robbery, the accused replied: "My lord, it can be so, I don't know but so I have been hearing.
"I am not also aware that there is suicide kaboom and bombers section inside Boko Haram. What I know is that any society or group must have sections. The prosecution lied against me when it said I was the leader of the sect in Sokoto State. If the government has such evidence against me, then let it bring it before the court.
"During the time crisis started in Maiduguri in 2009, my elder brother. His name is Suleiman Aliyu Sokoto. He accommodated me for some days, then we held a discussion and he told me to stay away from Boko Haram or anything that will cause trouble for me.

[An Nahar] A Nigerian court on Friday denied bail to three Lebanese charged with "terrorism" over their alleged links to Hizbullah.
Mustapha Fawaz, 49, Abdallah Thahini, 48, and Talal Ahmad Roda, 51, were charged last month after a massive supply of weapons was found at a business in the capital Abuja and a private home in the northern city of Kano.
A fourth suspect is said to be on the run.
"There is the likelihood ... that the first, second and third accused persons may not appear for trial," said High Court Justice Adeniyi Ademola Adetokunbo.
The request "for the accused persons to be admitted to bail is hereby refused."
The security services have claimed that the weapons discovered at the two premises were intended to attack Israeli and Western targets in Nigeria.
Prosecutors have said the group was actively preparing to commit "a terrorist act."
The judge also denied a request to re-open the businesses operated by the accused, which include a supermarket and an amusement park in the capital.
The suspects, who are said to also hold Nigerian citizenship, have pleaded not guilty "Wudn't me." to all six counts of the "terrorism-related offences."
"We are merely exceedingly well-armed merry-go-round operators, yer honour sir."
According to court documents, the trio has admitted to being members of Hizbullah. Belonging to the group is not a "crime" under Nigerian law.

[An Nahar] A Bosnian appeals court on Friday ordered the retrial of an Islamist bad boy who opened fire on the U.S. embassy in Sarajevo in 2011, citing failures to respect his legal rights.
Mevlid Jasarevic, 24, was given an 18-year sentence in December 2012, the heaviest ever handed down for terrorism offences by a Bosnian court.
But the appeals court said in a statement the verdict was "annulled" and announced a new trial due to "serious procedural breaches" and "violation of [the] defendant's rights", without giving specific details.
Jasarevic fired 105 bullets at the U.S. embassy in October 2011 with an automatic weapon for almost an hour before being shot by police and incarcerated Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! . One police officer was injured in the attack.
He will remain in detention until the appeals procedure is finished or for one year, whichever was the shorter period, the court said.
Jasarevic's lawyer Senad Dupovac told news hounds that he was not allowed to present all his evidence during the first trial.
In a video recorded before the attack and broadcast by the prosecution last year, Jasarevic said his act was a response to the American "war" against Islam.

Turkeys parliament has amended an armed forces regulation which once-powerful military leaders have held up in the past as justification for intervening in politics.
In a vote late Friday, legislators amended the regulation which defined the militarys duty as watching over and protecting the Turkish republic, changing it to defending the Turkish nation against external threats.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogans Islamic-rooted government has already significantly curtailed the militarys clout through reforms asserting civilian control and the amendment was seen as being largely symbolic.
The Turkish military, which long regarded itself as protector of the countrys secular system, forced four governments out of power between 1960 and 1997.
The vote follows a spate of anti-government protests in June, which Erdogan has labeled a conspiracy against his democratically-elected government.
[Dawn] The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday ordered the registration of a case against former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Perv Musharraf ... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ... for his alleged involvement in the Lal Masjid operation, DawnNews reported.
IHC's Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi issued the order during the hearing of a petition filed by Haroon Rasheed, son of Lal Masjid's Ghazi Abdul Rasheed, against Musharraf for his involvement in the killing of his father and grandmother.
During the hearing, Justice Qureshi said that Haroon Rasheed's statement should be recorded.
The Lal Masjid operation was a 2007 government crackdown on the controversial pro-Taliban mosque in Islamabad, which ended in a bloody eight-day siege killing at least 58 Pak troops and seminary students.
A number of witnesses in their statements had alleged that Musharraf, then president of Pakistain, was responsible for the action.

[Dawn] The Pakistain Talibs set up a cell in Syria six months ago to monitor "the jihad" in the region, the BBC Urdu website reported on Friday.
The Death Eaters had visited Syria to set up a base with the assistance of ex-Afghan fighter from the Middle East who had recently moved to the region and to assess the "needs of jihad", Mohammad Amin, a Taliban operative told BBC.
Amin was further quoted as saying that the cell, approved by myrmidon factions both within and outside of the TTP, sends "information and feedback" on the conflict in Syria back to Pakistain.
Their job is to "assess the needs of the Jihad in Syria, and to work out joint operations with our Syrian friends", the senior Taliban member added.
So we've got local secularists, local Salafists, Al Qaeda in Iraq and the Levant (as it is now called), and the Pakistani Taliban. Any bets on how long before the various jihadis go all taqfiri on one another, in classic example of all against all?
The presence of the Taliban in Syria is perceived to have a sectarian motive as some factions of the myrmidon organization feel that Sunni Musselmens, who constitute a majority in Syria, are being oppressed by Syria's predominantly Shia rulers.

Saniora voiced his remarks from Abra, a Sidon suburb that witnessed deadly fierce festivities last month between army troops and gunnies loyal to anti-Hizbullah Islamist holy man Sheikh Ahmed al-Asir.
"The main issue is that the residents of the city of Sidon absolutely do not want to see these festivities being repeated in any manner whatsoever," said Saniora as he inspected reconstruction works in Abra.
"As long as weapons exist in the hands of individuals defying the authority of the Lebanese state, especially the authority of the Lebanese army and the security agencies, there is always a possibility that (festivities) might renew every now and then, which would harm the Lebanese, the city's residents and also stability," Saniora warned.

[An Nahar] Hizbullah deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem ... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies... stated on Friday that the party was expecting to be the target of an attack like the one that took place in the Bir al-Abed neighborhood in Beirut's southern suburb of Dahieh on Tuesday.
He said on the seventh anniversary of the eruption of the July 2006 war: "The Dahieh blast is part of a plan to target the resistance and those backing Israel's agendas were behind it."
"We are being targeted and Dahieh is an open area that can easily be reached by anyone," he added.
"We are awaiting the results of the investigation to find out who planted the explosive," remarked Qassem.
The first leads indicate that forces seeking strife and serving Israeli goals are behind the blast, he said.
He therefore stressed the need to prevent any instability, while questioning the Arab silence over the incident.
Moreover, he linked the Bir al-Abed blast to the one that took place in the Shiyyah neighborhood in May, saying: "Some sides want to create strife in order to spark confusion within the resistance."
"Hizbullah won't be dragged into strife and it will do all it can to prevent it," emphasized Qassem.

[An Nahar] Speaker Nabih Knobby Berri Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, a member of AMAL, a not very subtle Hizbullah sock puppet... has snapped back at the March 14 alliance without naming it, saying the new government would not be formed without Hizbullah's participation in it.
In remarks to al-Joumhouria newspaper published Friday, Berri said it was impossible to form the government without having Hizbullah representatives in it.
The speaker's remarks were an indirect response to calls by some officials in the March 14 alliance to keep the party away from the cabinet line-up.
Al-Joumhouria said that Berri also "mocked" remarks made by March 14 politicians on his announcement that the March 8 coalition of Hizbullah, his Amal movement and the Free Patriotic Movement Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic... , no longer existed.
