Our congressional delegation is pleased to be in Qatar to thank the Qataris for their hospitality to our troops, and to receive briefings from senior American military and diplomatic officials as well as Qatari officials, Pelosi said in a statement.
Pelosi, who led the group, said the lawmakers had met with US troops based in Qatar, including many who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
This evening, our delegation met with His Highness Sheikh Tamin bin Hamid al-Thani, the heir apparent, to discuss US-Qatar relations and regional security issues, said Pelosi.

There is the possibility the Democrats will retake the House of Representatives. And the remote possibility that the former Speaker could persuade her fellow Democrats to giver her old position back. (Were I a Congresscritter, I'd want to be lead by someone who hadn't dragged us out into the desert in the first place, but what do I know?). The crown prince is covering all the bets here, at the cost of a little time and politeness.

Under the order, all companies (and their officers) would be required to list their political donations as a condition to bidding for government contracts. Companies can bid and lose out for the sin of donating to Republicans. Or they can protect their livelihoods by halting donations to the GOP altogether--which is the White House's real aim. Think of it as "not-pay to play." A RICO suit might be in order
Whatever you call it, the order amounts to the White House brazenly directing the power of government against its political opponents--and at a time when the president claims to want cooperation on the budget and other issues. Senate Republicans from Mitch McConnell to Susan Collins are fuming, warning this is one political sucker punch too far, an unabashedly partisan move that will damage Senate work. Wow, even Susan Collins flinched? B*tch
Minority Leader McConnell in an interview calls the order the "crassest" political move he's ever seen. "This is almost gangster politics, to shut down people who oppose them. . . . I assure you that this going to create problems for them in many ways--seen and unseen--if they go forward."
That might not matter to a White House that's already monomaniacally focused on 2012. Democrats are obsessed with the money game, in particular rubbing out any GOP opportunities that came with the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision to restore some corporate free-speech rights. Democrats last year tried to ram through the Disclose Act, designed to muzzle those new corporate rights, while allowing unions to continue spending at will.
When the party failed to get the bill through even an overwhelmingly Democratic Senate, the White House stepped up. The draft order, which came out last month, would require federal bidders to supply a complete list of all political contributions made by the company, its political action committee, and its senior executives--going back two full years. (Richard Nixon would be impressed.) More astounding, the order requires the list to include donations made to third-party political groups--disclosure that is not currently required by law, and that is, as a result, surely unconstitutional. Time to tie O'bumble up in impeachment hearings where he can't campaign. There are enough valid charges that can be brought against him. Add a new one every week until he can't move because he's always having to talk to lawyers. This kind of crap is third-world. Pakistan would be proud.

Illegal immigrants could receive college financial aid under legislation approved Thursday by the California State Assembly and destined for the desk of a new Democratic governor who supports the concept. The "Dream Act", Assembly Bill 130, would allow illegal immigrants who qualify for in-state college tuition to get scholarships from private scholarship funds. The bill passed in the Assembly by a 51-21 vote. Supporters believe it likely the California Senate will also pass the bill, and that Governor Brown will sign it.
And here all along I thought California was broke...
Cedillo's bills would apply to students who have attended a California high school for three years or more, obtained a high school or equivalent degree -- and, if they are illegal immigrants, commit to legalizing their status if given the chance.

Members of the group targeted by AB 130 represent only 1,941 students at the University of California, 3,633 at California State University and 38,302 at community colleges. Of those totals, illegal immigrants constitute about 32 percent of UC's figure and an unknown but perhaps higher percentage from the other two systems, a legislative analysis of AB 130 said.

To be factually precise, the state legislature passed and the Governor will likely sign a law that authorizes someone access to certain funding when they identify themselves as a criminal under federal law?
Did I miss the part wherein they swear to support and defend the Consititution which presumptively means obedience to all laws, not just the ones they choose?
The State of California is governed by political whores whose claims of moral integrity are bankrupted by this act!
