[NewsMax] Dozens of people gathered in front of the Minnesota governor's mansion Saturday to demand accountability for coppers, days before a former Minneapolis officer is scheduled to go on trial in the death of George Floyd.
Many of the roughly 150 people who demonstrated in Minnesota were family members of others who died during police encounters. Similar protests were being organized in cities around the country in advance of the trial of Derek Chauvin.
Floyd, a Black man, died May 25 after Chauvin, who is white, pressed his knee against Floyd's neck while Floyd was held face-down on the ground in handcuffs, saying he could not breathe. Body-camera video time stamps provided by prosecutors show Chauvin held his position for about nine minutes, even after Floyd stopped moving. Floyd was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter and jury selection in his trial begins Monday.
Saturday's protest in Minnesota was organized by Families Supporting Families Against Police Violence, a coalition of families who lost loved ones in police confrontations. The Star Tribune reports speakers said, in light of Floyd's death, they want other fatal police encounters reopened and examined.
In Massachusetts, supporters of families who lost loved ones during police encounters also gathered in Boston's South End. Protest organizer Brock Satter told WBZ radio: "We’ve called a demonstration to demand the conviction of all these officers starting with Derek Chauvin in this upcoming trail. We're demanding convictions. They should go to jail for their crimes."
Supporters of Massachusetts families whose loved ones have been killed by police rallied in Boston on Saturday as part of a national day of action.
Mass Action Against Police Brutality, a local advocacy group, said it organized the afternoon gathering in Peters Park in the city's South End neighborhood.
The organization said similar events were taking place in at least 17 other states Saturday, including Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, New York, Ohio, Texas, Florida, and Georgia.
The rallies are timed just ahead of the expected March 8 start of the trial of the former police officer, Derek Chauvin, charged in the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis last year.
Mass Action Against Police Brutality says the rallies are the next step in a series of "family-first events and activities" aimed at underscoring the central demands of the families: prosecuting coppers and reopening police brutality cases.
Among the local cases the organization wants reopened are the killings by police of DJ Henry, Eurie Stamps, Malcolm Gracia, Burrell Ramsey-White, Ross Batista, Usaamah Rahim, Terrence Coleman, and Juston Root.
[ToloNews] Eight security force members were killed and six more were maimed in an attack by the Taliban ...Arabic for students... in Nahr-e-Shahi district in Balkh province on Saturday night, the provincial police said.
The police said that five Taliban were also killed and seven more were maimed in the fighting.
"The Taliban launched a big attack. Last night, the cloudy weather affected our air support. This caused the casualties," Balkh police front man Adil Shah Adil said.
Some relatives of the soldiers claimed that the casualty rate is higher than that stated by local officials.
"The base was under siege. They did not have weapons. They fought with one Kalashnikov rifle until all were martyred. Even rockets. The police chief knows this," said the brother of Adam Khan, an army officer who was killed in the attack.
"My brother has been martyred. Three people have been maimed. Other bodies are not available. Two of the 16 people were maimed, the others were killed. The reinforcements arrived at 7 am after the base fell (to the murderous Moslems)," said Nematullah, a police officer in Balkh.
Those who were killed were between 22 and 48 years old, according to relatives.
Bashir Khanjar, 22, who was killed in the attack, was married a year ago.
"He went to the base two days ago," said Abdul Shakoor, Bashir’s cousin.
"It is less than a week since my uncle was killed on the same base. It was his funeral the other day. Today, my second uncle was martyred along with 14 other people. Half of them have been burned and their bodies are not recognizable," said Abdul Musawir, a Balkh resident.

[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] The Coalition to Fight Legitimacy in Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... said on Sunday that it carried out Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s on Iran's Houthi sock puppets ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him... positions in Sanaa and other provinces.
"The targeting of civilians and civilian facilities is a red line," Coalition front man Col. Turki al-Malki was quoted as saying by the official Saudi Press Agency.
He was referring to the attempted missile and drone attacks on Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... "The terrorist (Houthi) leaders will be held accountable," he said.
The Coalition also said it intercepted and destroyed at least 12 explosives-laden drones and two ballistic missiles the militias fired on Sunday at Saudi Arabia.

Given the overwhelming collection videos, photos, and Media reports covering ANTI-FArt and BLOM Rioting, Looting, Arson, Private/Public Property Destruction, Physical Assaults of anyone with an opposing voice, Racist attacks on WHITES, Senior Citizens and even murders of citizens and police.
I think if a Citizen was placed in a situation of standing their ground in Self Defense. No jury comprised of the defendants peers, would vote for conviction.
I fact I could see Civil Lawsuits for Assaults and private property damages with large awards to include their $$$ DONORS/Sponsors of these subversives.
Shoot, shovel and shutup is going to be the future method for dealing with these types I think. You know at some point they are going to start just attacking normal people outside of the city centers and that's not going to go like they expect.
[Dawn] Eight suspected forces of Evil including three Tehrik-e-Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... Pakistain (TTP) commanders were killed in two intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted by security forces in the North Wazoo tribal district, the military's media wing said on Saturday.
The separate IBOs were carried out on terrorist hideouts in Boya and Dosali areas of North Waziristan, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement.
Besides the eight Death Eaters, the three terrorist commanders killed during the exchange of fire were Abdul Aneer alias Adil (TTP Toofan group), Junaid alias Jamid (TTP Tariq group) and Khaliq Shadeen alias Rehan (TTP Sadiq Noor group), the ISPR said.
"These forces of Evil remained involved in terrorist activities against security forces, law enforcement agencies and locals of the area since 2009 including IED (improvised bomb) attacks, firing, murder, kidnapping for ransom and extortion," the blurb added.
It said the slain gunnies were also involved in recruiting forces of Evil in the area.
Security forces recovered a "huge cache of arms" from the hideouts.
Last month, four women aid workers were bumped off in the Mirali area of North Waziristan, as a fresh wave of holy warrior violence rattled the region.
The tribal areas along the Afghan border remain notorious for the availability of cheap guns, narcotics and smuggled goods.
Attacks have decreased in recent years following a series of military offensives against homegrown and foreign Death Eaters.
In 2014, the army launched a massive operation to wipe out Death Eater bases in North Waziristan aimed at ending a near decade-long insurgency that cost thousands of lives.
But Death Eater groups are still able to carry out sporadic, isolated assaults.
A recent surge in attacks targeting security forces along the Afghan border has sparked fears that these groups may be regrouping.
[Dawn] Four bad boyz were potted when security forces conducted two intelligence-based operations at Datakhel in North Wazoo tribal district and at Zoida in South Waziristan tribal district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.
According to the ISPR, during an intense exchange of fire, terrorist commander Abdul Adam Zeb alias Dung, who belonged to the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban ...Arabic for students... Pakistain’s Bismillah group, and terrorist commanders Molvi Mehboob alias Molvi and Mir Salam alias Anas, who were associated with the TTP Sajna group, were killed.
Abdul Adam Zeb had been involved in more than 20 terrorist activities against security forces, law enforcement agencies and local population since 2014. He was involved in IED attacks, firing, attacks on government buildings, assassinations, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and recruiting and organising bandidosbandidos bad boys in Mohammad Khel, Boya and Datakhel areas of North Waziristan and Zoida area of South Waziristan.
Molvi Mehboob and Mir Salam were close associates of Baitullah Mehsud and TTP’s other terrorist commanders. They were involved in attacks on security forces and law enforcement agencies’ check-posts, military convoys, attack on Ladha Fort in 2007, IED attacks and other sabotage activities in South Waziristan.

Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... has released British-Iranian aid worker Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, her lawyer Hojjat Kermani told Iranian website Emtedad on Sunday, after her five-year prison sentence for plotting to overthrow the holy manal establishment.
"She was pardoned by Iran’s Supreme Leader last year, but spent the last year of her term under house arrest with electronic shackles tied to her feet. Now they’re cast off," Kermani told the website. "She has been sprung."
Iran’s judiciary officials have yet to comment about the release.
It was not immediately clear whether she was allowed to leave Iran. Kermani was quoted as saying that "a hearing for Zaghari’s second case has been scheduled at branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran" according to the website.
Zaghari-Ratcliffe, a project manager with the Thomson Rooters Foundation, was arrested at a Tehran airport in April 2016 as she prepared to head back to Britannia with her daughter after a family visit.
She was later sentenced to five years in jail after being convicted of plotting to overthrow Iran’s holy manal establishment. Her family and the foundation, a charity that operates independently of media firm Thomson Rooters and its news subsidiary Rooters, deny the charge.
She was released from jail in March last year and put under house arrest in Tehran in response to concerns about the spread of COVID-19 in Iran’s prisons, but her movements were restricted and she was barred from leaving the country.
