20 Security Force Members Killed, Wounded in 24 Hours
[ToloNews] As the summer fighting season approaches, the scale of war and violence continues to rise in Afghanistan. The latest figures show that at least 20 members of the Afghan cops were killed and maimed in the past 24 hours in five provinces of the country.

The casualties were reported in Ghazni, Daikundi, Badakhshan, Khost and Balkh provinces.

Lawmakers in Afghanistan’s parliament meanwhile warned that there will be more fatalities among the security forces if they do not take an offensive stance.

In the latest incident, Abdul Rahman Fateh, the acting police chief of Deh Yak district in Ghazni, was killed on Monday in a roadside mine blast in the province. The incident occurred in Deh Yak district of the province on Monday afternoon when Fateh and other security forces were transporting supplies to local forces and his vehicle struck a roadside mine, the sources said.

"While the security forces were trying to clear landmines in the surrounding areas of the district, a roadside kaboom went kaboom!, which resulted in the death of the police chief and three others maimed," said Khaliq Dad Akbari, a member of the Ghazni provincial council.

In Daikundi province, at least four security force members were killed in a Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
attack in Pato district. Two other soldiers were maimed.

"Daikundi also has its own issues—currently three districts are under threat from the enemy," said MP Sayed Mohammad Daud Naseri.

"The Taliban’s attacks have increased—there is no significant response from the security forces, they are still in a defensive mode, this situation puts the security forces in harm's way," said Sayed Zahir Masroor, a member of parliament.

In the northern province of Badakhshan, at least three Afghan National Army officers were killed in a firefight with the Taliban.

In Khost province
... across the border from Miranshah, within commuting distance of Haqqani hangouts such as Datta Khel and probably within sight of Mordor. Khost is populated by six different tribes of Pashtuns, the largest probably being the Khostwal, from which it takes its name...
, at least ten security force members were killed and maimed.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
local officials are not providing information about casualties.

"The Taliban has had several attacks in the past 24 hours—all their attacks were repelled, particularly in Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
, Zabul and Kandahar provinces," said Rohullah Ahmadzai, a front man for the Ministry of Defense.

According to security agencies, in the past 24 hours, security incidents occurred in 20 provinces.

At least 39 migrants drown off Tunisia as two boats capsize
[AlAhram] The boats left shore on Monday night or early Tuesday and carried migrants colonists mainly from sub-Saharan Africa who were attempting to reach Europa

illegally

At least 39 migrants colonists drowned off Tunisia when two boats capsized on Tuesday, the defence ministry said, as numbers risking the dangerous crossing to Europe continue to rise.

Rescuers pulled 165 survivors from the floundering boats out of the sea to safety.

It was not immediately clear what caused both boats to capsize, but vessels leaving the North African coast for Europe are often heavily overloaded makeshift crafts, departing at night even in rough weather to avoid detection from the coastguard.

Tunisian National Guard front man Houcem Eddine Jebabli said the "search is still on for survivors and bodies".

The defence ministry said 39 bodies had been retrieved so far, with children among the dead, but no further details were given.

The boats left shore overnight carrying mainly migrants colonists from sub-Saharan Africa dreaming of reaching Europe, but they were spotted by the coastguard off the Tunisian port of Sfax, according to the authorities.

Last year saw an upsurge of makeshift boats attempting to cross the central Mediterranean, the deadliest route for would-be migrants colonists to Europe.

Such vessels have continued to take to the sea almost daily this year, despite frequent poor weather.

"Departures have continued to rise," said Romdhane Ben Amor, of the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights.

Since the beginning of 2021, 94 migrant boats have been intercepted, according to a count kept by his organization, against 47 in same period of 2020.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Count Guido had been cornered by the banditti...
1,736 people have been arrested for attempting the crossing, around double the number in the same period last year.

Between January 1 and February 21, 3,800 migrants colonists arrived illegally in Italia by sea, according to the UN refugee agency, including nearly 1,000 via Tunisia, and 2,500 via neighbouring Libya.

Among illegal arrivals in Italia during 2020, Tunisian citizens constituted the biggest national contingent, numbering 12,000, the UNHCR said.

But many foreign nationals have also used Tunisia as a jumping off point for Europe.

Since the start of 2021, over half of migrants colonists arrested in waters off Tunisia were from sub-Saharan Africa, according to the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights.

In February, 22 migrants colonists of various African nationalities who departed Sidi Mansour, near the city of Sfax, disappeared at sea, while 25 were rescued by the Tunisian navy around 100 kilometres (about 60 miles) from the Italian island of Lampedusa. One body was retrieved.

In January, the Tunisian navy intercepted 50 migrants colonists, including four Tunisians.

Cocaine: 1,200 Officers Launch Simultaneous Raids Against European Shipping Mega Port
[Breitbart] Belgian police launched an operation of unprecedented scale against organized crime on Tuesday, according to the country’s federal prosecutor´s office.

About 200 searches mobilizing more than 1,200 coppers were carried out simultaneously throughout the country of 11.5 million people, the office told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

A spokesperson at the prosecutor’s office said searches started at around 5 a.m.. According to broadcaster RTBF, the searches mainly took place in the region of Antwerp, and Sherlocks focused on narcos and a crime network with international connections.

With thousands of shipping containers reaching Antwerp every day, the Belgian port city is one of Europe´s main entry ports for cocaine. Trafficking in the city has led to a surge of violence recently, with shootouts and grenade attacks taking place.

Last year, authorities in Belgium and three other countries dismantled a criminal drug trafficking network that shipped hundreds of millions of dollars worth of cocaine into Western Europe. The investigation, which started when a container with 2.8 tons of cocaine was found last year in Antwerp, uncovered an international network with connections in at least four European countries and South America.

Chief Executive of Istanbul Exchange Steps Down
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] A top Ottoman Turkish banker convicted in the US of busting sanctions on Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. resigned on Monday as the chief executive of the Istanbul stock exchange, state media reported.

Mehmet Hakan Atilla, who served as deputy director general of Ottoman Turkish lender Halkbank, was convicted in 2018 of plotting to help Iran evade US sanctions in a multi-billion dollar gold-for-oil scheme, AFP reported.

Atilla was released from jail in the US in 2019 after spending two years behind bars, and was named head of the stock exchange in October 2019.

Atilla resigned "of his own accord," the Borsa Istanbul exchange said in a statement, quoted by state news agency Anadolu.

A US federal court is expected to put Halkbank on trial later this year after charging it with six counts of fraud, money laundering and sanctions offences in 2019.

has dismissed the claims, insisting the case against Atilla was "politically motivated."

Atilla served as deputy CEO of Ottoman Turkish lender Halkbank and was responsible for international banking between 2011 and 2018.

Observers have suggested that Atilla’s resignation would be a preemptive step for a potential ruling against Halkbank, one of the three state-owned banks. A large fine and other punitive actions against Halkbank could rock The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

’s banking system.

US prosecutors allege Iran funneled some $20 billion in oil revenue through Halkbank to sidestep sanctions for its nuclear program in 2012 and 2013.

The case dates back to 2016, when Reza Zarrab, a businessperson with dual citizenship of Iran and Turkey, was taken into custody at Miami Airport in March.

He was charged with violating sanctions against Iran, money laundering, "conspiracy against the US," and defrauding US banks.

During Zarrab’s trial, Turkey sent a diplomatic note to the US embassy, requesting information about the businessperson, as it was not able to hear from Zarrab and was concerned about his life safety.

The court combined the cases of Atilla and Zarrab in April 2017.

Zarrab became a confessor in October 2017 and admitted that he used Halkbank to trade gold for natural gas. Following his confession, Attila remained the sole defendant in the trial.

Batla House encounter: Court holds IM terrorists Ariz Khan guilty of killing inspector Sharma
[OneIndia] A Delhi court has held Indian Mujahideen

terrorist Ariz Khan guilty in connection with the Batla House encounter case.

The court held that the prosecution has successfully proven the case.

Khan, who was arrested in February 2018, after a decade of allegedly being on the run. Ariz Khan was arrested by the Delhi Police's Special Cell.

Police has claimed that he was present at Batla House, along with four others, and had managed to give police the slip during the encounter on September 19, 2008 in Delhi's Jamia Nagar, in which two Indian Mujahideen bad boyz were potted and as many arrested.

Encounter specialist and Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma, who led the police action, was also killed during the operation.

#1  Encounter specialist and Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma

In case you're wondering, an Encounter Specialist is not a pick-up artist or a UFO chaser, ladies and gents.

In a country beset by a justice system which takes decades to convict perps caught red handed [literally!], in a society where we have superstitiously religious, vegan judges who cannot sentence to death on certain days... he is a necessity created by the system to preserve balance. An Encounter Specialist is that rare breed of police grunt that has the wherewithal to pull the trigger and close the file. Not just fast guns, he and his merry band are experts at reverse forensics and creative report writing, packaging the shootings as 'encounters'.

Security forces gun down chief of Al-Badr without any collateral damage
[OneIndia] The Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....

Army chief General Joseph Aoun had said on Monday the right to peaceful protest would be protected barring damage to public or private property, but warned that troops should not get sucked into politics.

Lebanon’s financial crisis, which erupted in 2019, has wiped out jobs, locked people out of their bank deposits and raised the risk of widespread hunger.

"What are the Lebanese people waiting for? .... Are you able to teach your children? If a child gets sick, can you admit them to hospital? Can you buy them medicine...There is no education, no jobs, the dollar is at 10,000 (Lebanese pounds) and we are staying at home, dying slowly," protester Fadi Nader said.

A new cabinet could implement reforms needed to trigger billions of dollars of international aid, but factional wrangling has frustrated the formation of a new government.

Groups of protesters have been burning tires daily to block roads since the Lebanese currency tumbled to a new low last week, deepening popular anger over Lebanon’s financial collapse.

Three people died in car accidents amidst the roadblocks on Monday, local media reported.

Local television aired a funeral in Zgharta in north Lebanon for two young men who died when they drove into a truck that was parked across a road to block traffic.

"Every person in this country has to shoulder responsibility. Let protesters go to the houses of the leaders and their palaces, not block roads," the priest conducting the funeral told the gathering.

Despite growing anger on the streets, there have been no serious festivities between security forces and demonstrators in recent days, in contrast to previous rallies.

Analyst Karim Bitar said "revolution fatigue", "lack of clear vision or leadership" and anxiety over coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
were some of the reasons behind Tuesday's smaller numbers, and on-and-off road blocks.

"People are far too busy with the daily struggle to survive. Issues of political change have become secondary," he told AFP.

Lebanon's economic crisis has been aggravated by several lockdowns to stem the spread of the coronavirus.

Iraqi refugee killed in Syria's al-Hole Camp
Another one? It’s like such behaviour is cultural or something.
[NPASYRIA] On Tuesday, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Hawl Camp, east of Syria’s Hasakah, found the body of an Iraqi refugee who was killed by unidentified individuals.

A security source from the camp told North Press that "21-year-old Sayf Abd Ajil was rubbed out in the second sector of the camp."

The liquidations often affect Iraqi refugees, as they represent the majority of the camp, which hosts 30,606 Iraqi refugees, according to the camp administration’s statistics.

On Sunday, Asayish founded the body of an Iraqi refugee in the camp who was killed by unidentified persons by several bullets to the head and shoulder.

On Saturday, Asayish found the body of an IDP who was killed by unidentified persons.

In light of the absence of sustainable solutions to address the growing security tension in the camp, Human Rights Watch’s Syrian affairs researcher Sara al-Kayiali believes that it is necessary to take several steps immediately.

The steps include, "countries repatriating their citizens, supporting the security sector via the Global Coalition, strengthening awareness programs and psychological support for the residents of the camp."

In February, Undersecretary of the Iraqi Ministry of Immigration Karim al-Nouri stated that his country did not want to take back its citizens "because of the threat they pose," though he added that the possibility of return has still not been decided.

Hawl Camp is known as "a time bomb" due to the existence of ISIS families and tens of thousands of their loyal members in a camp which is the most dangerous in the world.

Turkish forces leave several points in northwest Syria
[NPASYRIA] On Monday, the Ottoman Turkish forces started to evacuate military points in the western countryside of Aleppo and redeploy in Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib, northwest Syria.

"For two days, the Ottoman Turkish forces have been working to evacuate their military points in the towns of Batbu, Ebbin, Sam’an and Kafr Naseh, west of Aleppo," military sources in the Syrian opposition told North Press.

"The Ottoman Turkish forces will withdraw from these points, which are considered non-essential, and redeploy in Zawiya Mountain area, in order to reinforce their points deployed on M4 Highway," the sources added.

"The task of these points, which The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
set up early last year in the region, has ended, as it was to stop the advancement of the Syrian government forces in the region," according to the source.

There are about 200 vehicles in the Ottoman Turkish military points, including tanks and artillery, in addition to dozens of Ottoman Turkish soldiers, according to sources.

It is reported that several months ago, the Ottoman Turkish forces started to withdraw from their besieged military points in Idlib, Aleppo and Hama, which were surrounded by the government forces during the last military campaign, and redeployed in Zawiya Mountain and Ghab Plain, west of Hama.

Russian forces dig trench between SDF and pro-Turkish factions in northeast Syria
[NPASYRIA] Russian forces continue digging a four-meter deep and five-meter wide trench that separates the areas controlled by pro-Ottoman Turkish factions and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), according to an informed military source.

The informed source revealed that the digging of the trench started from the village of Kasra, north of the Zarkan district, and currently the digging has been done in village of Khirbet al-Shaair, north of Tel Tamr.

More digging will take place from the village of Tawila, west of Tel Tamr, towards the al-Alia silos along the M4 highway from the south direction, and process of digging with the same depth and width.

This trench is being dug under the auspices of the Russian forces in order to limit the infiltration of pro-Ottoman Turkish factions into the Autonomous Administration areas or to maintain the ceasefire process, according to the source.

The source added that the process of digging this trench, which is considered a separation wall between the areas controlled by the pro-Ottoman Turkish factions and SDF areas, is "shattering of the hopes of thousands of people displaced from their villages and regions after the recent attack by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
and its armed factions in the Sere Kaniye region and its eastern countryside."

[NPASYRIA] On Tuesday, the armed opposition groups managed to repel an infiltration attempt by the Syrian government forces in the countryside of Latakia.

"The opposition groups managed to thwart an infiltration attempt by the government forces in al-Qal’a area in al-Turkmen Mountain, north Latakia," opposition military sources to North press.

"Several members of the government forces were killed and maimed in the attack by the opposition groups, which succeeded in pushing them back to their positions," the sources added.
