Europe
Prime Minister Johnson's Last & Most Dangerous Ace
h/t Instapundit
5 PM British Summer Time / noon Eastern Daylight Time
Setting: A transatlantic telephone call between 10 Downing Street and the Oval Office. Let’s listen in ...

Boris: Mr President, Donald, I am having a bit of a rough patch‐this Brexit business‐the crazies want my scalp. I need to ask a favour.

Trump: Boris, I want to help you. You are my friend. But I cannot do anything for you for friendship’s sake. That said‐I am all for Brexit on October 31, 2019, if not before....

Boris: I know that Donald. You don’t have to explain.

Trump: Just a moment. I do have to explain. You have to expect that Clapper’s, Comey’s, and Brennan’s friends in the United States’ national security apparatus are recording everything you and I are saying. It will eventually come out‐maybe tomorrow. So I might as well get my point of view across in the future record. We‐the United States‐pay for NATO. We subsidize the defense of every nation in NATO and in effect, every nation in the EU. Still, the EU raises tariff walls against our goods. This relationship is unfair to me, to my voters, and to the United States. In the past, we put up with it. We did so because Europe was getting on its feet after WWII, because Europe was under threat from domestic terrorism, and, above all, from Soviet communism‐but those days are now long gone. The EU is just an anti-American cabal, and, for that reason and others, I want to facilitate the UK exiting. That’s why I am inclined to help you, and if our two countries’ interests are aligned, as I see our interests, I will help you. So tell me‐what is it that you’d like me to do.

Boris: I am going to be forced by Parliament to ask the EU for an extension, and then to accept any extension that the EU might offer. But here a unanimity rule applies‐every EU member state must support giving the UK the extension. If one EU member holds out against granting an extension, then there is no properly authorized extension for the UK to accept. In those circumstances, I will be off the hook and free to negotiate a real deal with the EU, or, at least, free to exit the EU absent any deal.

For that reason, I would like the United States to explain to our NATO allies (e.g., Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania‐who are also EU members) that if they vote in support of giving the UK any extension, then all U.S. troops will be pulled out of their countries. And in that situation, the U.S. will re-evaluate its continuing participation in Article V collective defense under NATO auspices.

If we go down this path, I do not think we should do it in secret. It will come out anyway.

Trump: That’s ... That’s ... Why the hell didn’t my advisors come up with that idea. What the hell do I pay those guys for anyway? Was this Dominic Cummings’ idea? I want that man in DC. Yuge!, Yuuge!, simply Yuuuge! Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia‐I’m gonna make them an offer, they can’t refuse.
And the reason I put in in WOT Politix because EUSSR is prime Islamism enabler

'Transracial' man, born white, says he feels Filipino
h/t Instapundit
Ja Du is part of a small but growing number of people who call themselves transracial. The term once referred only to someone (or a couple) of a one race adopting a child of another, but now it’s becoming associated with someone born of one race who identifies with another.

Ja Du says he grew up enjoying Filipino food, events and the overall culture.

"Whenever I’m around the music, around the food, I feel like I’m in my own skin," he said.

"I’d watch the History Channel, sometimes for hours ... nothing else intrigued me more but things about Filipino culture."

Inner Harbor buildings evacuated in downtown Baltimore after vehicle found with 1,000 gallons of gasoline
[Ballymore Sun] Baltimore police discovered a van loaded with 1,000 gallons of gasoline Monday morning and are evacuating several office buildings from the Inner Harbor ‐ where emergency officials are urging people to stay away, city council members confirmed.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is assisting Baltimore police on the scene.

A police spokesperson said they received a call at 11:02 a.m. about a suspicious van and began evacuating 100 E. Pratt St., which houses T. Rowe Price and and global professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Baltimore Police Col. Sheree Briscoe told City Council members that they are evacuating a four-block radius around 100 East Pratt St. and are asking the community to not travel to that area while the police investigate.
Update at 4:40 p.m. Mountain Time:
But a police robot that entered the 15-passenger van with blacked out windows did not discover a bomb. Instead, it found a device used for stealing diesel fuel and two bins full of possibly stolen gasoline, police said. Several city officials said they were told the van contained approximately 1,000 gallons of gasoline, but a spokesman for the Maryland Department of the Environment later said about 80 gallons of diesel fuel was offloaded.

Baltimore’s arson unit is investigating but no suspects have been identified. The massive emergency response Monday was aided by Capital police from Washington and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers who were concerned for what they described as "elite visitors” expected to visit Baltimore on Thursday.

Judge Jon Tigar Obstructing Trump's Asylum Denial Policy.
[MiamiHerald] Judge reinstates nationwide halt on Trump asylum policy plan

A U.S. judge in California on Monday reinstated a nationwide halt on the Trump administration's plan to prevent most migrants from seeking asylum at the U.S.-Mexico border.

U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar ruled in Oakland that an injunction blocking the administration's policy from taking effect should apply nationwide.

Tigar blocked the policy in July after a lawsuit by groups that help asylum seekers. But the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals limited the impact of Tigar's injunction to states within the area overseen by the appeals court.

That meant the policy was blocked in the border states of California and Arizona but not in New Mexico or Texas.

In his ruling, Tigar stressed a "need to maintain uniform immigration policy" and found that nonprofit organizations such as Al Otro Lado don't know where asylum seekers who enter the U.S. will end up living and making their case to remain in the country.
Al Otro Lado, an 'NGO' that supports criminal trespassers illegal immigrants and people running from ICE by representing their interests 0 chiefly that of squatting by tying up the system in court.
"The court recognized there is grave danger facing asylum-seekers along the entire stretch of the southern border," Lee Gelernt, an attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union, said in a statement.

A message was left seeking comment with the Department of Justice.

The new rules by the Trump administration apply to migrants who pass through another country before reaching the U.S.

The policy targets tens of thousands of Central Americans who cross Mexico every month to try to enter the U.S. and also would affect asylum-seekers from Africa, Asia and South America who arrive regularly at the southern border.
Carrying measles, aids, the bubonic fucking plague and what not.

Dem Rep. Clyburn: ‘Not Too Sure' the Bill of Rights Would Pass Today
[Breitbart] Sunday on MSNBC, House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) wondered if the Bill of Rights would pass in today’s "climate."

Clyburn said based off of conversations he has all the time, he believes there would be "strong support against the Bill of Rights" among people who would like to see many of the guarantees "uprooted."

"I really believe sincerely ‐ the climate that we’re in today ‐ if the Bill of Rights, the first 10 amendments of the United States Constitution, were put before the public today, I’m not too sure that we would hold onto the Bill of Rights," Clyburn declared during the interview with MSNBC. "Especially when I see what people are doing with the Second Amendment and no telling what they would do with the First Amendment."

MSNBC’s David Gura responded, "You really believe that? That’s a startling statement. You believe that?"

"Absolutely," Clyburn replied. "There would be a strong support against the Bill of Rights. Go through the Bill of Rights and I’ll tell you I run into people every day who would like to see so much of those guarantees uprooted."

Hamas terrorist involved in deadly 2015 attack dies of heart condition
[IsraelTimes] Bassam Saih, a member of a Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", terror cell that killed an Israeli couple in a West Bank shooting attack in October 2015, has died, authorities say.

The 46-year-old Saih died at Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, south of Tel Aviv.
A perfect opportunity to clone his cell phone and laptop, and of course meet all his friends and relationships...
He suffered from a chronic heart condition.

Eitam and Naama Henkin were killed while driving home with their four young children, when the five-member squad ambushed their vehicle between the settlements of Itamar and Elon Moreh.

The parents were fatally shot in front of their children, who survived the attack unharmed.

Iran says tanker Adrian Darya 1 has arrived at destination, oil sold
[IsraelTimes] Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
says that oil tanker Adrian Darya 1 has arrived at its destination and the oil on board has been sold, Rooters reports.

Officials did not provide further details, but the tanker was seen off the Syrian coast yesterday.

The ship was held for six weeks by the British overseas territory of Gibraltar on suspicion that it was set to deliver oil from Iran to its main Arab ally Syria in a violation of Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an Union sanctions.

Gibraltar released the ship, formerly called the Grace 1, on August 18 over US protests after receiving written assurances from Tehran that the vessel would not head to countries sanctioned by the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...

The Emotional Economy of Mass Murder
h/t IMAO
[SlowFacts] Mass murderers know something most of us don’t know. These murderers figured out that they can break the rules. They know they can do anything they want..for a while. No one will stop the murderer until people with guns show up. Murderers get those 11 minutes to kill at will. Murderers enjoy the thrill of having their way with innocent people. They love the last free acts they will ever have. Murderers are thrilled by the notoriety that they get from the mass media..even if they never live to see it.

Murderers know that the rest of us obey the rules while they don’t have to. They know we are disarmed in "gun-free" zones. After a mass murder, these killers figured out that we will only make more rules.

...Many of us will pretend that the next rule will make us safe. In fact, the next rules will probably make things worse rather than better. The next rules will make it easier for the mass murderer to kill more people. The reason is simple. Only honest people follow the rules. Disarming more of the good guys makes it easier for the bad guys to kill. That unavoidable truth is as simple as it is unpleasant.

Go ahead and make your stores into "gun-free" zones. Murderers don’t care about plastic signs.

Go ahead and make your schools and churches into "gun-free" zones where honest citizens are disarmed. Murderers don’t care about your rules.

Go ahead and pretend that more ink on paper will stop a murderer with a gun. That is exactly what murderers want.

Being targeted and being killed are two very different things. People dying at the hands of an insane shooter (that's what they are) are like accident victims, casualties to an aberrant gene or a relative of Screwtape in someone's mind.

To be preyed upon deliberately once you are rendered defenseless is an indignity, an injustice that has no place in the modern world. Only an enemy would wish this upon citizens.

If a state fails to save your life, it can still function as a failed state. If it denies you the very safety the social compact was formed for, it is no longer a state but the enemy.

From Taliban to ‘Deal of Century,' why is America addicted to 'deals'?
[Jpost] US President Donald Trump said he canceled a deal in the wake of a Taliban attack in Kabul that killed a US soldier. Meanwhile, Jason Greenblatt, Trump’s special envoy for Middle East peace, is also leaving before the "Deal of the Century" is completed. The US is also ostensibly seeking a new Iran deal, and US-North Korea talks are stalled. Why is the US so addicted to the notion that so many of the world’s problems can be solved with "deals" ‐ especially given the track record of previous failed efforts?

Trump adds a personal dealmaking culture to US foreign policy, borrowed from his business background and a 1987 book that sang the praises of the "art of the deal." But his approach to deals is not unique. The US notion that conflicts can be solved with agreements ‐ and deals that wrap them up with a nice start and end date ‐ is part of historic Western European concepts of diplomacy.

Deals and treaties such as those at Westphalia or the Congress of Berlin sought to create order after conflicts in Europe. These ostensibly successful treaties or conferences are pointed to as examples of how diplomacy and international law can be successful. The US played a key role in ending the Russo-Japanese war in 1905 with a treaty signed at Portsmouth, for which Teddy Roosevelt won a Nobel Peace Prize.

But this approach to international affairs has its limits. In 1928 US Secretary of State Frank B. Kellogg and France’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Aristide Briand negotiated the Kellogg-Briand Pact signed by 15 countries, which was supposed to end war as a way to resolve disputes. In a sense, it outlawed war. Oddly, Germany, Japan and Italy all signed on. Within a decade those states would all be at war, with Italy invading Ethiopia and Japan increasing involvement in China.

The failures of 1928 haven’t ended the seduction of treaties, conferences, pacts and deals to end conflict. The Paris Peace Accords in 1973 ended the war in Vietnam, just two years before North Vietnamese troops took over Saigon, which actually ended the war. In Israel and the Palestinian territories, the Oslo Accords were never fulfilled. UN resolutions that were supposed to stop Hezbollah maintaining a massive arsenal were never adhered to. Evidence seems to indicate that the last hundred years have seen a decline in adherence to treaties and deals, yet the US still believes it can get to the end zone in dealing with a variety of files.

#1  ...We are a mercantile people - we believe that if we can just make the pot sweet enough for everybody, then everybody will agree and they'll go away in peace. If you're buying a car or a washing machine, that has a chance. Wars and genocides; not so much.

I can think of exactly two 'deals' that worked - the Confederate surrender at Appomattox, and the unconditional surrenders of the Germans and the Japanese at the end of WWII. I will leave it to the reader to divine what those two deals had in common.

Two thoughts:
1) When they came, clone all their electronics and plant all sorts of bugs.

2) Until the plan was made, what did we really have to take away in negotiations? Now they are publicly humiliated by the reversal as well as losing a chance to meet with their contacts living in the U.S.

Besides, one doesn't make peace with friends, but with enemies, who often are not gentlemen. Vladimir Putin, for instance, used to be an officer in the KGB, the Chinese are still totalitarian communists who harvest organs from prisoners, and the PA are unreconstructed PLO terrorists with a smoother line of patter. Not that I ever expected peace talks with that particular faction of the Taliban to lead to any sort of peace — I really hoped it was never really more than an excuse to clone electronics and follow the delegates home — but they were also the only ones willing to talk at all.

#11  When America has the stomach for total war, this author might have some relevance. We try to negotiate a treaty, or deal as he puts it, to stop bloodshed. The Japanese surrendered in a "Deal" to save their homeland from total destruction. We could have certainly won Korea, the Viet-Nam war and the war in Afghanistan with a total war concept. The issues I see with the treaties is most are brokered by the UN, With that there is zero teeth in the deal if one side breaks the treaty. If the treaty says Hezbollah will abide by the treaty or we nuke them, they will comply.

I was raped by whoever Trump picks to replace Ginsburg on the Supreme Court
h/t Instapundit
[GeniusTimes] This is incredibly difficult for me to do but I feel that it’s necessary to come forward and expose the type of person that Trump will select for the Supreme Court of the great country.

I was raped by whoever Trump selects to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg for the Supreme Court.

It was in the 1990s and the details are a little fuzzy. We were at a party and I distinctly remember this person coming on to me and rubbing up against me.

I told this person I wasn’t interested but whoever it was persisted and when we were alone forced himself or herself on me, pulling off my clothes and penetrating me while I constantly said, "No!"

I haven’t come forward yet because I was ashamed and afraid. This person is clearly very powerful, but now that this person is being considered for the Supreme Court, I think it’s necessary to let people know who they’re dealing with, especially after Trump picked a literal serial killer last time.

And the Soros money doesn’t hurt.

But this stain on my soul does hurt. And it will be with me forever ‐ or at least until after the confirmation hearing ‐ the very painful confirmation hearing.

A Flawed Defense of Safe Spaces in the New York Times
[Quillette] In a recent New York Times op-ed, Wesleyan University president Michael S. Roth offers a defense of "safe enough" spaces on our college and university campuses. Roth seeks to establish a middle ground between proponents who aspire "to make sure all students are made to feel welcome in or outside the classroom" and critics who see safe spaces as "sanctimonious ’safetyism’‐counterproductive coddling of students who feel fragile." So, he asks, “what’s a university to do?"

"We should begin," writes Roth in answer to his own question, "by destigmatizing the notion of safe spaces and stop talking about them as if they were part of a zero-sum ideological war." He provides historic examples of space spaces for employees and managers in post-World War II manufacturing, group therapy in psychiatry, and later feminist and gay liberation community building. None of this was controversial, he suggests.

But Roth’s examples are not really on point if the risk of safe spaces perceived by their critics, as Roth puts it, is of "groups…enclosing themselves in bubbles that protect them from competing points of view." The creation of opportunities for open discussion between employees and managers, or for sharing of experiences among mental health patients, serves to burst bubbles, not insulate participants from other points of view. The building of community among feminists and gays may have reinforced narrow perspectives but their purpose was political, not educational. Safe spaces that encourage cooperation or facilitate political action are far different from safe spaces that insulate from discomfort.

Colleges and universities exist, first and foremost, to educate their students, not to consolidate shared interests, facilitate advocacy, or mask intellectual and emotional disagreements. Certainly those with common interests and shared experiences should be free to associate among themselves in clubs, advocacy groups, and private gatherings. And there is nothing wrong with colleges encouraging and facilitating such confabs as part of the life of the university, not to mention the right to freedom of association.

Roth also recounts historic threats to the physical safety of women and minorities by way of underscoring colleges’ responsibilities as parens patriae. Surely no one doubts that colleges and universities are entrusted with the physical and psychological welfare of their students, particularly undergraduates. But threats of physical and psychological harm bear little resemblance to the harms college safe spaces are intended to protect against. The former are obstacles to education (and usually illegal). The latter are essential to education. As Roth acknowledges, "our classrooms should never be so comfortable that intellectual confrontation becomes taboo or assumptions go unchallenged because everyone’s emotional well-being is overprotected."

There is a difference between true psychological harm and hurt feelings. Perhaps Roth’s “safe enough” standard is meant to recognize that difference, but the reality on many campuses is that safe spaces encourage, in Roth’s words, the "siloing of perspectives" against which "[u]niversities must push back."

There is also an important difference between student-organized clubs for people of shared interests or experiences and college safe spaces created for the express purpose of insulating students from discomfort. The former are invitations to collegiality. The latter are obstacles to the development of a true intellectual community.

After ouster of longtime dictator, Sudan calls on Jewish emigres to return
[IsraelTimes] New minister for religious affairs says country is ‘pluralistic in its thought’ and Jews can come back ‘through their right of citizenship and nationality’.
"Come back....bring money"
Sudan’s new minister for religious affairs called on Jews who previously resided in the African country to return following the ouster of long-time leader Omar al-Bashir
...Former President-for-Life of Sudan He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself head cheese. He fell out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Hee was overthrown by popular consent in 2019. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it...
"Sudan is pluralistic in its thought, pluralistic in its culture, in its ideologies and Islamic religious sects, and even religions. There is Islam, Christianity, and a minority that follow the Jewish faith," Nasr-Eddin Mofarah told Saudi broadcaster Al Arabiya in an interview on Friday.

Strip at southern Israel on Sunday night, landing inside the enclave, short of the border, the army said.

The projectile triggered sirens in the Eshkol region of southern Israel. The alarms could be heard in open fields in the region, not inside communities. Residents of the area also received alerts on their phones.

"A failed launch was spotted from the Gaza Strip. It did not cross into Israeli territory," the army said.

The attempted rocket attack came as an Egyptian military intelligence delegation visited Gaza on Sunday in a bid to calm heightened tensions between Israel and terror groups in the Strip.

Egypt has in the past helped broker unofficial ceasefires between Israel and Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",.

Kirstie Alley Hammers Hollywood ‘Asshats’ for Blacklisting Trump Supporters
[BREITBART] Actress Kirstie Alley has blasted Hollywood’s left-wing tastemakers over their disdain for supporters of President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
, comparing their refusal to work with Republicans as comparable to refusing to work with gay people.

In a tweet on Friday, the Cheers actress said that Hollywood’s insular approach to politics amounted to a form of hypocrisy.

"I refuse to be part of the Hollywood asshats who can’t see that ’NOT working with Republicans’ is as stupid and NASTY as ’REFUSING to do business with gay people,’ she wrote on Twitter. "STOP ACTING above the FRAY ya damn hypocrites...WE are the same species! let’s help each OTHER ya damn yahoos."

Alley’s call for unity comes as Hollywood progressives continue to ramp up their attacks against Trump and his supporters. Will & Grace co-stars Debra Messing and Eric McCormack demanded last week that the identities of those attending President Donald Trump’s fundraiser next month be made public.

Wesleyan University President Insists ‘Safe Spaces’ Promote ‘Intellectual Diversity’
[BREITBART] The president of Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, argued in favor of safe spaces in a recent op-ed, suggesting that they "promote intellectual diversity" and remove "the threat of harassment or intimidation." Campus climates across the country after the spread of safe spaces, however, have shown an increase in sensitivity, hostility, and Groupthink among students, leaving conservative students to bear the brunt of "safe space policies."

Wesleyan University President Michael S. Roth defended college "safe spaces" in a recent New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

op-ed, arguing that while the concept of a safe space can be taken too far, "it still underlies the university’s primary obligations," and that schools should prioritize them, in order to "promote intellectual diversity."

Roth maintains that it is a school’s priority to take the "conscious steps to protect and nurture students emotionally as well as physically should be welcome" in order to prevent perpetuating "environments where the entitled continue to dominate those around them and students never learn how to build a more equitable, inclusive community."

"We must promote intellectual diversity in a context in which people can feel safe enough to challenge one another," says the university president. "Students should be able to participate in argument and inquiry without the threat of harassment or intimidation."

In his op-ed, the university president goes on to acknowledge critics of safe spaces, describing them as people who "claim to worry about the preservation of free speech on campus," as well as the likelihood of safe spaces encouraging "the isolation of groups of students from questions that might take them outside their comfort zones."

Britain
Sticking to Brexit plan, UK's Johnson will not seek a delay
[DAWN] Prime Minister Boris Johnson
...pro-Brexit British prime minister, succeeding no-Brexit Theresa May. BoJo is noted as much for his sparkling personality and his hair as for his Conservative policies....
is sticking to his Brexit plan and will not seek a delay to Britannia's departure from the Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an Union at a summit next month, two ministers said on Sunday despite the latest resignation from his government.

After work and pensions minister Amber Rudd's quit late on Saturday over his Brexit policy, the ministers said Johnson was determined to "keep to the plan" to leave the EU by October 31 with or without a deal to ease the transition.

Johnson's strategy to leave "do or die" by that deadline has been shaken by the events of recent days, which have prompted critics to describe him as a "tin pot dictator" and deepened uncertainty over how Britannia's 2016 vote to leave the EU will play out.

He has lost his Conservative government's majority in parliament, expelled 21 rebels from the party and failed to force through a new election. Then his own brother quit, saying he was torn between family loyalty and the national interest.

I haven't got a clue whether leaving the EU would be good or bad for Britain, but that was the vote. Your Rosie O'Donnell example is, indeed, horrific, but circumstances and opinions always change after the votes are in. I understand that you don't want to revisit the referendum as such.

But shouldn't the people be able to vote on a deal/no deal choice?

As I understand it there is a deal agreed upon by the May government and the EU, ready to be signed. It has not found a majority in Parliament.

So why not let the people decide on it? Elections might do the trick but not quite because I see a lot of people who'd like the deal option but not Corbyn as PM.

A clean referendum would be preferable. Let the people vote on the May deal (or any deal Boris can manage with the EU before October 31st.

The difference between elections and the Brexit referendum is that in 4 years people automatically get a new choice.

Not so when it comes to Brexit. So I think people should be fully informed of the consequences a deal or no deal will have and be able to vote on it. This seems the logical thing to do as Parliament has refused the deal AND the no deal option.

#19  I'm not asking for a referendum on Leave or Not Leave, as you can rightfully say that this has been decided.

But since Parliament can't agree on the CONDITIONS for leaving, shouldn't these conditions be decided by the people?

The Johnson government claims it can get a better deal. Well, let them try but if they don't, let the people decide between the deal that has been agreed upon with the EU or a no deal Brexit.

I understand some of the feelings you and other people have about the EU.

But not all. Despite the bureaucracy it has made inter-European trading easier and it's a union of nations that neither the U.S. nor China can ignore.

I don't want 28 "sovereign" European nations in constant conflict with each other. The U.S. shouldn't want it either. The only winners would be Russia and China.

Trump calls off secret summit at Camp David, peace talks with Taliban
[DAWN] US President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
said on Saturday he had called off a secret summit with the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
and Afghanistan's leader, abruptly slamming the door on a year of diplomacy to end America's longest war.

In a Saturday evening bombshell, Trump said that he had planned previously unknown talks with the two sides on Sunday in Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland, but that the Taliban's persistent, grisly campaign of violence made them untrustworthy partners.

"Unbeknownst to almost everyone, the major Taliban leaders and, separately, the President of Afghanistan, were going to secretly meet with me at Camp David on Sunday," Trump said in a tweet.

"Unfortunately, in order to build false leverage, they admitted to an attack in Kabul that killed one of our great great soldiers, and 11 other people. I immediately cancelled the meeting and called off peace negotiations."

"What kind of people would kill so many in order to seemingly strengthen their bargaining position? They didn't, they only made it worse!" Trump said.

No judge to hear drug case against Sana
[DAWN] The jail authorities on Saturday presented former law minister Rana Sanaullah Khan before a special court for Control of Narcotics Substance (CNS) with no presiding judge available to hold the proceedings.

The officials took the PML-N leader back to jail after the court’s reader simply marked his attendance, fixed Sept 14 as next date of hearing and also extended his judicial remand in the drug case.

The Lahore High Court on Sept 6 repatriated District & Sessions Judge Masood Arshad, the presiding judge of the CNS court pursuant to a notification of the federal law ministry issued on Aug 26 last. The high court is yet to nominate the new presiding judge.

During the last hearing held on Aug 28, the judge had returned to the court after one-hour break only to inform the prosecution and the defence that he had been barred from hearing the case through a message he received on Whatsapp.

Chinese military conducts land assault drills near Taiwan
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) recently conducted a joint land assault exercise featuring multiple military branches near the island of Taiwan, which military experts said on Sunday shows the Chinese military is ready to unleash its full potential against Taiwan secessionist forces and intends to send a stern warning to countries that intervene in China’s internal affairs.

The 74th Group Army of the PLA recently held a joint land assault exercise off the eastern coast of South China’s Guangdong Province, with the navy and air force joining the simulated attack, China Central Television (CCTV) reported on Thursday.

Led by the navy’s amphibious assault ships, with additional air support, a combined arms brigade of the army launched a joint assault on a coastal area.

Navy minesweepers and obstacle breaking boats first cleared a path through the sea, and amphibious assault vehicles of the army stormed to the coast from multiple directions.

As the army closed in on the coast, warplanes, artilleries and tanks launched simulated joint strikes from multiple points and successfully seized the position.

While the defending team attempted counterattacks, the army called in air strikes from a communications command platform, guiding fighter aircraft and long-range rockets that eliminated the defender’s threat.

Over 2,000 militants redeploy to western Idlib after defeat in northern Hama
[ALMASDARNEWS] Over 2,000 Death Eaters from Jaish al-Izza have allegedly redeployed to the western countryside of the Idlib Governorate after suffering a devastating defeat in northern Hama, the Arabic-language version of the Sputnik News Agency reported.

According to the Sputnik report, the Jaish al-Izza fighters were moved from northern Hama, in particular, Kafr Zita and al-Latamnah, to the Idlib Governorate city of Jisr al-Shughour.

In addition to moving to Jisr al-Shughour, Jaish al-Izza is also in the northeastern countryside of the Latakia Governorate.

The Sputnik report added that Jaish al-Izza is now fighting alongside the foreign jihadist group, the Turkestan Islamic Party, which is one of the largest turban factions fighting the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in northeast Latakia and northwest Hama.

Jaish al-Izza has not made any statement regarding this move; however, these rumors were first spread shortly after the turban group was expelled from the northern countryside of the Hama Governorate.

Turkish military sabotages historic church in Syria’s Afrin
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Ottoman Turkish military and its proxies currently controlling the northern Syrian city of Afrin continue to inflict huge damage upon historic and archeological sites in the city.

Recently, a group of Ottoman Turkish soldiers along with its backed Syrian Death Eaters have destroyed Saint Maron church located in Brad village of the Shirawa district.

According to local source, the vandals stole several artifacts which belong to the church.

Afrin, a city in northern Aleppo, was seized by the Ottoman Turkish Army and other rebel groups in March 2018. By then, it was under the control of People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Women’s Protection Units (YPJ).

A Kurdish-language media outlet quoted local sources in Afrin as saying that the Ottoman Turkish Army has turned the historical site in Jandariseh into a military base for its soldiers.

According to the sources, the Ottoman Turkish military was seen building three-meter-high walls near the base. The move comes after the Ottoman Turkish Army troops were accused of destroying artifacts in the Afrin region of Aleppo to build a base.

Pompeo said to warn Lebanon that Israel could strike Hezbollah missile factory
[IsraelTimes] Arabic newspaper quotes US secretary of state telling Lebanese FM that facility should be dismantled or Israel will ’destroy it in the coming days’.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned Leb that Israel could soon destroy an alleged precision-guided missile factory used by the Hezbollah terror group if it was not swiftly dismantled, according to an Arabic newspaper report Friday.

Citing unnamed Israeli sources, the London-based Asharq al-Awsat said Pompeo sent a letter to Lebanese President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
concerning a Hezbollah compound in Leb’s Bekaa Valley, apparently referring to a facility identified by the Israel Defense Forces on Tuesday.

The paper reported that Pompeo relayed the message through Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, who it said is considered to have close ties with Hezbollah leader His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
"Leb should immediately dismantle the second factory, otherwise Israel will attack and destroy it in the coming days," Pompeo was quoted telling Bassil.

The report said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu raised the issue during a meeting in London on Thursday with US Defense Secretary Mark Esper and noted the premier was accompanied by the commander of the Israeli Air Force and the head of the IDF’s Operations Directorate.

Pakpattan sub-inspector suspended for 'manhandling' visitor to shrine
In yet another incident of high-handedness by Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

police, a sub-inspector in Pakpattan was suspended after allegedly manhandling a devotee visiting the shrine of Baba Farid Ganj Shakar for urs celebrations.

The sub-inspector, Aijaz Kalia, was posted at the shrine to oversee the security of visitors.

A video of the incident went viral on social media on Saturday in which visitors to the shrine can be seen standing in a queue just before the stairs leading inside.

In the video, a man in the queue can be seen raising his voice in protest in the presence of the police officer. It is not clear what the reason behind the man's protest was, but another man can heard saying: "Is there even a reason for closing it?"

The sub-inspector lost his composure and yelled at the protesting man, telling him to "Shut up" ["chup kar"] to which the man responded by saying, "Why should I keep quiet?"

As things got heated, the officer goaded the man to go ahead and speak up if he is so inclined, moving to cross a rope barrier between him and the queue of people, but then holding back.

All the while, people kept urging the officer as well as the man to refrain from letting things escalate.

A moment later, the man said, "You have wronged us". This set the officer off who reached over to grab the man from the collar, dragged him over and shook him violently before shoving him aside.

Pakpattan District Police Officer (DPO) Ibadat Nisar released a video statement on the matter on Sunday.

"Yesterday some footage went viral on social media in which a sub-inspector used harsh language while speaking to a visitor and his behaviour was inappropriate," he said as he began his statement.

"I wish to [clarify] that Punjab police and Pakpattan police consider themselves to be in service of the people. We consider all the visitors who come here to be our guests. It is our effort to facilitate their safety and security, their travel and time here," said the DPO.

"We have taken serious action against the unfortunate incident which took place yesterday. The sub-inspector involved has been suspended immediately and a departmental investigation into the incident has been launched," said Nisar.

Israel strikes Gaza after rocket attack
[DAWN] Israeli forces attacked Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, positions in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
after rockets fired from the Paleostinian enclave hit the Jewish state, the military said early on Saturday.

The exchange came hours after two Paleostinian teenagers were killed by Israeli fire during festivities on the Gaza border.

Late on Friday, "five projectiles were launched from the Gaza Strip towards Israel," the army said.

The projectiles hit open fields in southern Israel, an army front man said.

In response, an "aircraft and tank struck a number of Hamas military targets in the northern Gaza Strip, including a post and military positions," the army said in a statement.

A Hamas security source said there were no casualties resulting from the Israeli strikes.

Later on Saturday, a drone launched from southern Gaza crossed into Israeli airspace, the army said in a separate statement.

It "dropped what seems to be an bomb" near the security fence, damaging a military vehicle before returning to Gaza.

In response, an Israeli "aircraft targeted the squad which launched the drone", the army said.

There were no reports of casualties in Gaza, but the unrest on the frontier continued throughout the day as four Paleostinians infiltrated Israel and were apprehended by the army.

Three 13-year-olds crossed the border from the southern Gaza Strip, and a search revealed a knife, the army said in a statement.

Later, another infiltrator ‐ this time from northern Gaza ‐ was apprehended, and two knives were found on him, the army said.

Addressing the latest escalation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had been updated on the events and threw the blame at Gaza’s Islamist rulers.

"Hamas is responsible for any act of aggression emanating from Gaza," he said in a statement.

"Any attempt to harm our soldiers or civilians has been and will be met with a harsh response." During border festivities on Friday, two Paleostinians aged 14 and 17 were rubbed out by Israeli forces, the Gaza health ministry said, with another 46 Paleostinians maimed.

The Israeli army said thousands of Paleostinians took part in "especially violent" demonstrations along the border fence, which included throwing "fire bombs and bombs" at soldiers.

Northeast Aleppo: Fuel tanks enter Syrian government area from SDF territories
[ALMASDARNEWS] Scores of fuel tanks have entered areas controlled by the Syrian government in northeast Aleppo following agreement with the predominantly-Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces, a monitor group reported.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) released a video showing a convoy of fuel tanks crossing toward areas controlled by the Syrian Army, supposedly coming from SDF-held territories.

The footage was filmed in Manbij crossing located to the southwest of Manbij city, located in northeast Aleppo.

Last Friday, The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have reportedly reached an agreement to open a new crossing in the Euphrates River Valley region.

The new crossing, located near the town of al-Salihiyah in southeastern Deir Ezzor, will allow civilians access to both sides of the Euphrates River Valley in Deir Ezzor and promote commerce and trade between these areas.

Both sides have already had several crossings in northern and eastern Syria.

Earlier, the leader of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) Salih Moslem called on the Syrian government to reopen talks with the SDC in Damascus and reach a political settlement.

Mark Sanford announces GOP presidential bid: ‘We have lost our way’
[POLITICO] Former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford on Sunday announced he will challenge Donald Trump
...the Nailer of NAFTA...
for the Republican Party’s 2020 presidential nomination becoming the third member of his party to do so.

Sanford told "Fox News Sunday" he believes the GOP needs to have a conversation about what it means to be a Republican, adding, "We have lost our way."

The former governor, who was also a congressman from 1995 to 2001 and 2013 to 2019, highlighted a need to discuss the country’s ballooning debt and deficits, as well as Trump’s turn toward trade protectionism.

"One of the hallmarks of the Republican Party and the conservative movement has always been: How much do we spend?" Sanford said, offering a nod to the famed University of reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
economist Milton Friedman.

The candidate also said he wants to shine a light on how "institutions and political culture are being damaged by this president."

Mark Sanford then showed his true colors when he opposed the so called "Muslim emigration ban" of Donald Trump

Promotion of the emigration of people into the United States of people who I consider to be anti-American

That is why Obama did what he did.
What is Sanford's motivation for challenging Trump?

Iraq
Iraq’s Hashd announces formation of Air Force
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Iraqi Hashd, Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), said it is now forming its own ’Air Force’ in order to respond to hostile air strikes.

The group’s deputy chief, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandes, said he had ordered to establish the air force directorate for the Hashd; naming Salah Mahdi Hantoush as its caretaker.
Update at 2:31 p.m. Mountain Time: For future searching purposes, Iraqi News spells his name Salah Mahdi Hantous.
This comes a few weeks after suspicious Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s targeted the group’s positions in Baghdad and other provinces of Iraq.

A senior US official said that Israel conducted "several strikes in recent days" in Iraq, including the July 19 attack north of Baghdad which targeted a base allegedly used by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps "to transfer weapons to Syria".

The claims come after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted at his country’s involvement in the latest attacks on ammunition depots in Iraq belonging to the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) composed of mostly Shia Moslem groups.

The Secretary of Iran’s Expediency Council (EC) Mohsen Rezaei said on Sunday that both Iraq and Syria would respond to the latest Israeli attacks on their soil.

"Measures that Israel and America are jointly implementing in Syria and Iraq are against the international rules. And Syrian and Iraqi defenders will soon respond to them," Rezaie told ILNA on Sunday on the sideline of an event in Qazvin province.

Uneasy calm descends on Tripoli frontlines after failed attempts by Haftar's forces to retake lost positions
[Libya Observer] An uneasy calm has descended on southern Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
frontlines after a day of heavy fighting.

Saturday saw heavy festivities between the Libyan Army forces under the command of Presidential Council's government and Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
's forces on different frontlines, with the former advancing and seizing new positions.

A source from Burkan al-Ghadab Operation (Volcano of Rage Operation) said Haftar's forces tried Sunday morning to retake the positions they lost Saturday at Cement Factory in Souq al-Khamis Emsehel, but their attack was foiled as two of their armored vehicles were destroyed and then they returned to Tarhouna city.

The source added that Haftar's forces advanced on Tripoli International Airport frontline from al-Ramla axis but it was soon thwarted by Volcano of Rage forces, whose heavy fire forced Haftar's forces back to their previous positions.

"Wadi Rabea and Khalit al-Furjan frontlines saw some skirmishes without any change of positions for either side." The source added, denying that the Libyan Air Force has targeted any aims Sunday due to rainfall.

The front man for the Libyan Army Mohammed Gununu said Saturday that they had advanced on different frontlines in southern Tripoli and in the vicinity of Tarhouna city, adding that the Libyan Air Force had carried out Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s hitting Haftar's forces launchers used to shell civilians in Tripoli and its suburbs.

Gununu added that their forces have advanced after receiving military reinforcement and under a precise and active air cover, hence boosting its grip on different frontlines in Wadi Rabea and Souq al-Khamis Emsehel as well as Ain Zara and Khalit al-Furjan.

"Our forces have also captured several fighters from Sahban Brigade of Haftar's forces." Gununu indicated.

Southeast Asia
Militants begin handing over guns under Philippines peace deal
[DAWN] Moslem snuffies in the mainly Catholic Philippines began handing over their guns to independent foreign monitors on Saturday, as part of a treaty aimed at ending a decades-long insurgency.

Just over a thousand snuffies in the country’s restive south were turning in 940 weapons in a single day, the start of a graduated decommissioning process that aims to turn the country’s largest rebel force into a regular political party.

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) fighters who were demobilised on Saturday represent a symbolic first step towards retiring what MILF says is a force of 40,000 in the coming years.

"The war is over... I have no firearms left," Paisal Abdullah Bagundang, 56, a self-described veteran of more than 100 shootouts with government security forces since the 1970s, said.

But the disarmament will take time to make an impact in a place where violence is an almost-daily threat.

A bomb hidden in a parked cycle of violence went kaboom! near a market in Isulan town early on Saturday, just hours before President Rodrigo Duterte was to witness the decommissioning ceremony some 40 kilometres away in Sultan Kudarat.

Police said eight people were maimed in the attack that was later claimed by the holy warrior Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, according to SITE Intelligence, which monitors jihadist activities worldwide.

The decommissioning process "should not lead to expectations that it is going to result in a major deceleration in attacks", said Francisco Lara, senior conflict adviser for Asia at watchdog International Alert, noting that the public in the region is also armed.

Acquiring a gun is "like buying fish in the market" in the south-western provinces where most of the Philippines’ Moslem minority live, MILF commander Murad Ebrahim told news hounds.

But "if people no longer feel they need firearms to survive then they will easily give them up", added Ebrahim, who is also chief minister of the area that has its own regional parliament, but no separate police force or military. About a third of MILF combatants and their weapons are to be initially retired over the coming eight months.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Unconfirmed reports of airstrikes targeting Iranian forces in eastern Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] Shortly after 12:30 A.M. (local time), unconfirmed reports surfaced of unidentified warplanes targeting the Iranian forces in the eastern Syria city of Albukamal.

According to reports, a number of explosions were heard inside Albukamal city in the Deir Ezzor Governorate after these unidentified warplanes targeted the Iranian military’s positions.

Opposition activists in the area allege that the warplanes were targeting the Iranian forces; however, no government sources have confirmed these reports as of yet.
The Times of Israel adds:
Unidentified aircraft launched strikes on a base belonging to an Iran-backed militia on the Syrian side of its border with Iraq, killing several people early Monday, an observer and Arabic media reported.

The blasts targeted a base belonging to the Popular Mobilization Force, said the Saudi al-Arabiya network, citing sources in the area. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights blamed the attack on “unidentified warplanes.”

Al Arabiay said the base, in the al-Boukamal area also housed forces from the Lebanese Hezbollah terror group. The report said several people were killed in the attack, but gave no further details.

“Warplanes whose identity is not known so far, targeted vehicles and positions of the Iranian forces and militias loyal to them,” the Observatory,a Britain-based group, said, adding it had no immediate details on casualties or the extent of the damage

Since mid-July, five arms depots and training camps belonging to the Popular Mobilization Forces have been targeted in apparent attacks.

The PMF has blamed both Israel and the US for the recent string of blasts and drone sightings at its bases. There was no immediate comment from Israel.

These blasts occurred on the Syrian side of the border in the same regions where Fox News reported Iran is construction a new military facility that can house thousands of soldiers and storage facilities for advanced weapons.

It was not immediately clear if this was the same base.

Quoting Western intelligence sources, the US cable network said the base is located near the Syria-Iraq border, and its construction is being overseen by the Quds Force, the overseas branch of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Satellite photos of the base, known as the Imam Ali compound, showed what appeared to be five recently constructed buildings that can store precision-guided missiles, according to ImageSat International.

ImageSat, an Israeli satellite imagery analysis firm, said the photos also show other structures at the facility that could be used for storing missiles.
Image can be seen at the link.
The images also show what appears to be Iranian construction on a new border crossing that near the existing al-Qaim border crossing with Iraq.

ISI analysts told Fox that the base would be completed and operational in the next few months.

Defense officials said the Imam Ali compound marked the first time Tehran was constructing a military base in Syria, and noted that it was less than 200 miles away from a US military installation in neighboring Iraq.

Israel views Iran as its greatest threat, and has acknowledged carrying out scores of airstrikes in Syria in recent years aimed primarily at preventing the transfers of sophisticated weapons, including guided missiles, to the Iran-backed Hezbollah.

This quiet war has reportedly expanded to Iraq in recent weeks, with US officials saying the Israel Defense Forces was behind at least some strikes on Iran-linked sites outside of Baghdad. The Pentagon, which is mindful of not alienating Iraq’s leadership and jeopardizing its military presence in the country, has pointedly distanced itself from the mysterious explosions.

The PMF was established in 2014 from mostly Shiite paramilitary groups and volunteers to fight the Islamic State jihadist organization and is now formally part of Iraq’s armed forces. But the US and Israel fear some units are an extension of Iran and have been equipped with precision-guided missiles that could reach Israel.

Last week Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Iran and Hezbollah of racing to build a missile-production program in Lebanon, vowing to destroy the ambitious project and issuing a stern warning to his enemies to “be careful.”

“We are determined to eliminate this dangerous project,” he said. “The aim of the publication today is to convey a message that we will not sit by and allow our enemies to arm themselves with deadly weapons directed at us.”

Last month, an Israeli airstrike thwarted what Israel said was a plot by Iran to launch a series of explosives-laden attack drones meant to crash into targets in the country. Iran denied the claims.

Hours later, Israel allegedly struck Iran-linked targets as far away as Iraq and crash-landed two drones in Hezbollah-dominated southern Beirut.

Syrian air defenses foil militant drone attack in northern Syria
[ALMASDARNEWS] Syrian air defences have prevented a terrorist drone attack on a military post in the al-Ghab valley in the country’s northwest , Syria’s SANA news agency reports.

According to SANA, two terrorist unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) were destroyed, while the third one was downed with "its ammunition dismantled without causing any casualties among personnel of the Syrian Arab Army."

The developments come after Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov said earlier this week that expert estimates indicate that forces of Evil in Syria are using western-designed drones to attack Russian facilities.

Addressing a global conference on fighting terrorism, he noted that Moscow was concerned about drone attacks in Syria, including against officials.

"We are constantly registering the mass usage of this method to stage attacks on Russian bases in Syria. Meanwhile,
...back at the revival hall, Buford bit the snake and Eloise began speaking in tongues...
the drones that are being used are not amateurish. Experts note ... that Western specialists’ developments are being used," Syromolotov said.

He added that Moscow believes that global cooperation on the matter is necessary, and that and both legal and technological means should be used for countering terrorism.

India locates lander lost on final approach to moon
[DAWN] The lander module from India's moon mission was located on the lunar surface on Sunday, one day after it lost contact with the space station, and efforts are underway to try to establish contact with it, the head of the nation's space agency said.

The Press Trust of India news agency cited Indian Space and Research Organisation chairman K. Sivan as saying cameras from the moon mission's orbiter had located the lander. "It must have been a hard landing," PTI quoted Sivan as saying.

ISRO officials could not be reached for comment.

According to Times of India, the lander was designed to function for one lunar day, equivalent to 14 Earth days, and with the "right orientation" it can still generate power and recharge batteries with solar panels.

"But it looks less and less probable, progressively," said one official associated with the mission who wished to remain anonymous.

Another top official explained that since it may not have landed on its four legs, the lander may not have the "right orientation" to recharge batteries and may not be able to reestablish a link.

The space agency said it lost touch with the Vikram lunar lander on Saturday as it made its final approach to the moon's south pole to deploy a rover to search for signs of water.

Syrian Army launches heavy attack on militant positions in southern Idlib
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is currently striking the Idlib Governorate, targeting a number of areas under the control of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
According to a military source in the Hama Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army launched a heavy attack in response to the jihadist assault that was launched on their positions in the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate.

The source said the Syrian Army is attacking a number of areas along the southern front of the Idlib Governorate, including the town of Ma’ar Tahramah.

The Syrian Arab Army would also attack several sites controlled by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham in western Idlib; this includes the bad boy stronghold of Kafr Nabl.

Earlier in the day, the jihadist rebels attacked the Syrian Army defenses in southern Idlib, prompting the latter to respond with a heavy barrage of artillery to deter any further strikes.

According to Syria-based al-Watan, the Russian-sponsored ceasefire in Idlib will expire tomorrow morning.

Once this ceasefire expires, the Syrian Arab Army is expected to resume their offensive operations along the Hama-Idlib axis.

The Syrian Army has already begun gathering their forces in the southern region of the al-Ghaab Plain; this is where the next offensive is expected to take place.

Mayor seeks open trial of KE officials for ‘mass murder’
[DAWN] City Mayor Wasim Akhtar demanded on Saturday that K-Electric officials responsible for the "mass murder" of victims of electrocution during the recent monsoon rains be tried in open court through public hearings.

Addressing a hurriedly-called presser, he appreciated the decision in Nepra inquiry into the incidence of electrocution in the city and said that the regulatory authority had held the power utility responsible for death of people.

He said that electrocution of people during rains was not the personal case of victims’ families, but it was the case of the entire city.

The mayor said that the city could be run only by correcting the system and those responsible for such negligence must be punished and the victims get the justice.

He said the city’s civic and municipal infrastructure had been devastated adding to the miseries of the people.

The mayor said that 40 people died due to electrocution in the city during monsoon rains.

"People would continue to die like this if the responsible officials are not brought to book", added.

He said that it was high time to launch a joint struggle to bring some relief to people of Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
. "There has been enough blame game", he added.

The mayor said that the city badly needed funds and resources for development of its infrastructure.

He appealed to the president, the prime minister and the chief justice of Pakistain to give attention to problems being faced by the city.

Responding to a question, he said that he was the deputy convener of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement
...English: United National Movement, generally known as MQM, is the 3rd largest political party and the largest secular political party in Pakistain with particular strength in Sindh. From 1992 to 1999, the MQM was the target of the Pak Army's Operation Cleanup leaving thousands of urdu speaking civilians dead...
and his party stood by him.

Pakistan rejects India's efforts to portray 'normalcy' in occupied Kashmir
[DAWN] Pakistain "categorically rejected" on Sunday Indian government's attempts to "portray normality in India-occupied Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
A blurb issued by the Foreign Office today said that despite the Indian government's claims, Indian Kashmire was still under a lockdown while Kashmiri leaders remained under house arrest.

"Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir continues to be the largest prison in the world with the heaviest deployment of Indian occupation forces since the coercive, unilateral and illegal Indian actions of August 5, 2019 aimed at altering the internationally recognised disputed status of IOJ&K and changing its demographic structure to preempt the results of a UN plebiscite," the blurb read.

The Foreign Office also termed Indian reports that portrayed two farmers, who had inadvertently crossed the border in August, as holy warriors as a "farcical attempt".

"This was despite the fact that the incident was discussed during the weekly military hotline contact between both sides on August 27, 2019 when Indian authorities acknowledged that they were inadvertent crossers and informed Pakistain that routine formalities are taking place after which they will be returned."

On August 21, two farmers in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, identified as Muhammad Nazeem, 21, and 30-year-old Khalil Ahmed, had unintentionally crossed the Line of Control near Hajipir while they were out for cutting grass.

Last month, Indian External Affairs Ministry front man Raveesh Kumar had claimed that Pakistain was trying to create "an alarmist situation" after Indian media, citing unidentified Indian intelligence sources, said that Pakistain-trained commandos have allegedly entered Indian waters to attack port facilities in western Gujarat
...where rioting seems to be a traditional passtime...
state. Pakistain Army spokesperson Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor had rubbished the claims.

Syrian Army attacks jihadist forces in western Aleppo
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a rare attack on the jihadist positions in the western countryside of the Aleppo Governoate this afternoon.

According to a military report from the Aleppo Governorate, the Syrian Army fired several artillery shells and missiles towards the hard boy positions in the Anadan Plan region.

The Syrian Army’s artillery and missiles reportedly targeted the positions of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
in the towns of Anadan and Haritan.

These strikes by the Syrian Army come just days after they warned the jihadist rebels in western Aleppo to leave the area before they resume operations.

The hard boy presence in western Aleppo has long been a problem for the Syrian Army, as the jihadist rebels often launch attacks on Aleppo city.

Elders of Tabu tribe deny displacing people from their homes in Murzuq
[Libya Observer] Dignitaries and elders of the Tabu tribe in Murzuq denied expelling people from the city.

"Those who left the city are a group of outlaws who were involved in crimes committed recently, against the Tabu in Murzuq," the tribe's representatives explained in a video statement.

They added that families who fled the city for fear of festivities have begun to return gradually, after the improved security conditions experienced in the city.

A foreign gang is using Wadi al-Anz area, south of Sabha to launch attacks against areas of the southern region, according to the statement, denying the presence of any opposition Chadian groups in Murzuq.

#1  If the so-called Tabu are the Tubu ethnicity they are not indigenous to Murzuq. Their homeland is in the Borkou-Ennedi-Tibesti provinces of northernmost Chad. They served as a bodyguard to King Idris, were hated by Qadafi, and were involved in a long war with him and his Arab Legion. They are tough fighters and seem to want to control all of Libya's south, the Fezzan.

#3  Toubou and Tuareg tribes are part of the saharan tribal network. A loosely knit rebel/criminal melange of down and outs, criminals of opportunity. I know they fought against Qaddafi and the regime after the Arab spring. They are nomads, and their allegiance is pliable. But they hate Europeans with a vicious hatred. By extension maybe Americans too.

These Saharan tribes are minor league people traffickers and raiders. Earlier they claimed they wanted the best kind of education, industry and governance, but can't seem to let go of the tribal themes. Which invariably lead to conflict.

Haftar is fighting the broad spectrum of all islamist and auxiliary criminal tribes, by looting them mainly and killing the remnants. Not all Toubou are criminal though, only the Dillingers among them often vacillate between people smuggling and drug trafficking. The larger community may just be peaceable dimwits.

There's no ideological or religious connection with the AQ jihadis, it's merely one of convenience and economy right now.

Post-mortem report of man who died from alleged Lahore police brutality confirms torture marks
[DAWN] A post-mortem report of Amir Masih ‐ a gardener who died after being illegally detained in an alleged police torture cell in Lahore ‐ showed that there were torture marks on various parts of his body, it emerged on Sunday.
"They're birth marks. We made him sorry for being born"
Earlier six coppers, including a sub-inspector, were nominated in a criminal case for the alleged torture of Amir.

As per the post-mortem report, torture marks were visible on Amir's hands, feet, back and arms. His ribs were also broken.

According to a first information report (FIR) lodged on the complaint of the victim's brother, Amir ‐ who worked as a gardener in Lahore's P.F. Colony ‐ was summoned at North Cantt cop shoppe by Sub-Inspector Zeeshan on August 28. He was then taken to an unknown location, where he was subjected to torture.

According to the victim's brother, Amir had been called by Zeeshan in connivance with a civilian, Rana Mohammad Hanif, who has also been nominated in the FIR.

Meanwhile,
...back at the comedy club, Boogie was cracking himself up, but nobody else seemed to be getting the non-stop jokes...
Amir's family approached the cop shoppe after they were told that Zeeshan had called the dear departed, but could not meet the sub-inspector. On September 2, Zeeshan and two unidentified officers handed over Amir, who was suffering from serious injuries, to his family. He was taken to the Services Hospital, where he passed away, the FIR stated.

#1  'Masih' is a christian surname often assumed by converts from islam. Christians in Pakistain are the poorest and voiceless minority, they are targeted daily by the sasquatch majority.

Christian girls are afraid of stepping out of their homes, the boys are bullied and killed over petty things, the men and women often implicated in blasphemy and put to death, if not publicly slain. Most of them cannot commute to school safely, let alone find employment later.

I imagine even the Angels in heaven shall exult for relief when they no longer have to fly over a populated Pakistain one day. It will be so much better off as a sea of glass.

Glenn K. Beaton: We’re all racists now
[ASPENTIMES] All this would be comical except that it carries a real risk. If everyone is racist, then nobody is. The term loses its opprobrium. It’s like accusing someone of masturbation. So what?

The net effect is that real racists get a pass. When someone calls them out for their racism, they can say, "The race card? Really? Is that all you got?"

But racism really is terrible. Judging people by the color of their skin and not the content of their character is destructive and unfair (notwithstanding that, as pointed out above, some believe today that it is racist to do otherwise).

In addition, overplaying the race card invariably plays it against people who don’t deserve it. Just because a person thinks America should have a secure border, plays chess, drives a pickup truck, believes in capitalism, socialism or Judaism, defends affirmative action, wears a beard or doesn’t like being called a racist, doesn’t make him a racist.

It’s fun to call people vile names when you disagree with them. But it’s not productive, persuasive, grown-up or honest. It’s just cheap insults and lazy thinking.

Now go ahead and prove my point in the comments by ignoring the issue and instead calling me names.

High Council of State: UAE fueling war in Libya
[Libya Observer] The Libyan High Council of State (HCS) has decried UAE's provision of a media platform for the spokesman of Khalifa Haftar's forces Ahmed Al-Mismari in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

The HCS denounced UAE's hosting of a presser for the spokesman of outlaw military groups that are waging war on legitimacy in Libya and allowing him to incite more bloodshed among fellow Libyans.

"The press conference of Haftar's spokesman in Abu Dhabi is additional evidence for the UAE's involvement in fueling violence and war in Libya and its assistance to Haftar's forces to carry out a coup against legitimacy." HCS said in a statement on Sunday.

It added that this conference proves as well the false claims of Abu Dhabi that it is with the UN-backed government in Libya and with the resumption of political process.

"The UN support mission in Libya should document these violations and condemn them. While, the Government of National Accord should take necessary measures to respond to these violations by the UAE." HCS further explained.

Haftar's spokesman Ahmed Al-Mismari held Saturday a press conference in Abu Dhabi wearing a UAE military outfit and talked about holding positions in Tarhouna after heavy clashes on Saturday against the Libyan Army under the Presidential Council's command, reiterating Haftar's rejection to any political dialogue and that they insist on entering Tripoli by force.

Ex-Hezbollah official found dead in Beirut apartment — state media
[IsraelTimes] A former Hezbollah official was found dead in his Beirut apartment on Sunday, state media reported.

Local police opened an investigation into the circumstances of Ali Hatoum’s death and ordered that an autopsy be conducted, Leb’s National News Agency said.

Hatoum was formerly a regional commander of the terror group in the Beirut region, but had not been in a senior position for several years.

Limited verifiable details were immediately available, but "informed sources" told the an-Nahar news site that it was unlikely Hatoum had been assassinated.
Another Times of Israel article adds:
Further reports in Arabic press suggest Ali Hatoum was found shot in the head, though it is not clear whether he committed suicide or was murdered.

Trump Supporting High Schooler Harassed, Threatened and Hounded Out of School by Liberal Classmates
[THEGATEWAYPUNDIT] Washington DC senior Jayne Zirkle was forced to leave her high school after continued harassment and threats from her liberal classmates for supporting President Trump. And Jayne says the teachers were not helpful. She even had instances where the liberal teachers lowered her grades because she supported the president.
Update from American Thinker at 1:59 p.m. Mountain Time:
The principal of a high-performing magnet high school located in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington, D.C. has jeopardized the safety of one of his students because of her support for President Trump.

Jayne Zirkle, a senior at School Without Walls High School, known as "Walls," will spend the rest of the school year taking classes online. The severity of threats and harassment coming from her classmates has made it impossible for her to attend the public school without fear of physical harm.
Separate but unequal.
When Zirkle went to D.C. public school leaders, including the principal of Walls, Richard Trogisch, she presented them with 200 pages of evidence outlining harassment, threats, and cyber-bullying from fellow students.

Teacher, school head on four-day physical remand
[DAWN] A judicial magistrate on Saturday granted the police four-day physical remand of teacher and head of a private school arrested in a case of class-X student’s death by torture.

Gulshan-e-Ravi police produced Muhammad Kamran, the teacher, and Shahid Mahmood Chughtai, the branch head of American Lycetuff School,
No! Really? The Lycee Tuff?
before the magistrate and sought their 14-day physical remand.

Next day, several charged class fellows of the victim set the school on fire.
The investigation officer stated that the offence under section 302 of PPC was heinous in nature and the suspects were nominated in the FIR. He said remand of the suspects was required to complete investigation.

The magistrate, Muhammad Ramzan, allowed four-day remand of the suspects and directed the police to produce them again on Sept 11.

The teacher allegedly subjected Hunain Bilal to brutal torture for not bringing a book to the class who went titzup. Next day, several charged class fellows of the victim set the school on fire. Police reached the spot and controlled the law and order situation while Rescue 1122 extinguished the fire.
