‘Islam is an excuse, the goal is money’: Taliban gunmen stop the music in Afghanistan’s wedding halls — sometimes
[TheStar(Toronto)] There are rules against music, but the rules don’t always to the Taliban, whose enforcers are proving keener on shaking down wedding parties than heeding their dogma.

Allah Gul Mujahid Returns to Afghanistan
[KhaamaPress] Former Parliament Member Allah Gul Mujahid returned to Kabul from Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
on Sunday.

According to officials, Mujahid was in Iran and returned to Kabul today.

He was an influential political figure in the former administration who was imprisoned and humiliated by the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
security forces in the early years of the de facto administration.

Earlier, Mujahid met with Fazal Mohammad Haqqani, the Afghan embassy’s head of mission in Tehran.

Haqqani emphasized that the ruling regime would try to pave the way for the return of Afghans to the country.

Meanwhile,
...back at the abandoned silver mine, the water was up to Jack's neck and still rising. And then he smelled the smoke...
the former Afghan parliament member, Mujahid, had reported his possible return to the country.

Following the Taliban’s return to power on August 21, hundreds of former government officials fled the country, most of them migrating to the neighbouring countries of Iran and Pakistain.

He was an influential political figure in the former administration who was imprisoned and humiliated by the Taliban security forces in the early years of the de facto administration.

Following his release, according to unofficial reports, Mujahid left the country for The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
and headed to Iran after spending a year in Turkey.

Preventing Human Trafficking is not ‘Our Responsibility’, Says Mujahid
[KhaamaPress] In response to the US Department of State’s latest report on human trafficking in Afghanistan, Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
’s spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said, human trafficking is done beyond the borders and "preventing it is not our responsibility".

Mr. Mujahid on Saturday in a tweet said, human trafficking is conducted beyond the borders of Afghanistan, and the caretaker regime is not responsible for its prevention.

He further reiterated that anyone who is caught having involvement in human trafficking in Afghanistan will be severely punished, and described the State Department’s report as "useless propaganda".

According to a 2023 report of the United States Department of State, Afghanistan is listed among the eleven countries that are believed to have involvement in human trafficking in the form of government programs, including forced labor, sexual slavery in government camps and recruiting child soldiers.

In response to the latest claims Mujahid said, human trafficking is conducted beyond the borders of Afghanistan, which should be prevented.

The US Department of State on Thursday published its annual report on the situation of human trafficking around the world, in which Afghanistan, Russia and China are among the worst countries in terms of human trafficking.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shouting match, a new, even louder, voice was to be heard...

Batur Dostum Expresses Concerns Over Relocation of TTP to Northern Afghanistan
[KhaamaPress] Batur Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...
, head of Central Council of the National Movement Party met with Feridun Sinirlioglu, the UN Special Coordinator for Afghanistan affairs, and expressed concerns over the usurpation of Uzbek and Turkmen lands by the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
and relocation of Pak Taliban in northern Afghanistan.

During the meeting with Feridun Sinirlioglu said, "The relocation of TTP members to northern Afghanistan" is worrying not only for the people of Afghanistan but also for the regional countries — discouraging them from engaging with the Taliban administration.

Batur Dostum is the son of Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum who served as a parliament member in the former government. Also, Batur was a member of the Afghanistan peace negotiation team who participated in talks with the Taliban in Doha.

Referring to the shortcomings of the Taliban government and the self-centered policies of this group, Mr. Batur asked the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
to increase the pressure on Afghanistan’s de facto authorities, according to sources.

During the meeting, Mr. Sinirlioglu said he is collecting and assessing reports about Afghanistan — adding he will include Batur’s complaints as well.

Nearly two months ago, the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Feridun Sinirlioglu of Turkiye as the Special Coordinator, Independent Assessment Mandated by Security Council Resolution 2679 (2023).

The Secretary-General has asked Mr. Sinirlioglu to lead the independent assessment with a view to providing recommendations for an integrated and coherent approach to address the current challenges faced by Afghanistan.

Taliban’s Controversial Order: Motorcycle Accident Victims Denied Treatment at Health Centers in Ghazni
[8am] Local sources in Ghazni province have reported that the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
have issued an order to health centers in the province, instructing them to refuse treatment to individuals injured in cycle of violence-related traffic accidents.

Reliable sources from Ghazni provincial hospital have confirmed to Hasht-e Subh that for the past week, dozens of cycle of violence accident victims have been denied access to medical services at this health center, following a warning from the Taliban.

According to the sources, the injured individuals, along with their companions, are left waiting for hours, aimlessly wandering around, and eventually being forced to arrange costly transportation to their homes or neighboring provinces.

It appears that the Taliban issued this warning in response to a rise in traffic incidents in Ghazni. However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
some healthcare workers view this action by the Taliban as a violation of public health regulations.

Despite the circumstances, the Taliban have not provided explanation for the rationale behind this directive.
As conquerers they need not explain to the conquered.

Taliban taking measures to ensure 'comfortable, prosperous life' for women: supreme leader
[GEO.TV] The Afghan Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
supreme leader has said that steps were being taken to protect the country’s women from "traditional oppressions" and added that their status as "free and dignified human beings" had been restored.

Hibatullah Akhundzada — who rarely appears in public and rules by decree from the Taliban´s birthplace in Kandahar — issued a statement on Sunday to mark the beginning of Eid ul Adha holidays.

He said the country’s interim government led by Taliban were taking measures to provide women with a "comfortable and prosperous life according to Islamic Sharia".

The United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
expressed "deep concern" last week that women were being deprived of their rights under Afghanistan's Taliban government and warned of systematic gender apartheid.

Since returning to power in August 2021, Taliban authorities have stopped girls and women from attending high school or university, banned them from parks, gyms and public baths, and ordered them to cover up when leaving home.

They have also barred them from working for the UN or NGOs, while most female babus government employees have been dismissed from their jobs or are being paid to stay at home.

However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
Akhundzada said "necessary steps have been taken for the betterment of women as half of the society".

"All institutions have been obliged to help women in securing marriage, inheritance and other rights," his statement read.

GUARANTEED RIGHTS
Akhundzada said a six-point decree issued in December 2021 guaranteed women their rights.

Among other things, the decree outlawed forced marriages and enshrined the right to inheritance and divorce.

"The negative aspects of the past 20-year occupation related to women´s hijab and misguidance will end soon," Akhundzada said.

A report to the UN's Human Rights Council last week by Richard Bennett, the special rapporteur for Afghanistan, said the plight of women and girls in the country "was among the worst in the world".

"Grave, systematic and institutionalised discrimination against women and girls is at the heart of Taliban ideology and rule, which also gives rise to concerns that they may be responsible for gender apartheid," Bennett said.

UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights Nada al-Nashif added: "Over the past 22 months, every aspect of women's and girls' lives has been restricted."

"They are discriminated against in every way."

Deni shakes police command in Puntland after deadly clashes
[GOOBJOOG] Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
President Abdullahi Deni has made changes in the police command in Nugaal, Karkar, Gardafu and Sanaag regions following deadly festivities last week in the capital Garowe that claimed about 30 lives.

In a decree on Saturday, President Deni appointed Mohammed Ali Ahmed as the police commandant of Nugaal region whose headquarters is Garowe. Ahmed replaces General Hussein Ali Mohamud who now moves to Karkar region as the police chief.

General Adan Ahmed Ali now becomes the police commandant in Sanaag region while Fuad Mohamud Hussein was moved to head the police command in Gardafu region. Lieutenant Colonel Qasim Jama Shire was alo appointed the head of the Danab Special Forces squad in Puntland.

South Sudan denies closure of border with Sudan
[SUDANTRIBUNE] South Sudan officials dismissed reports about the presidential directives to close its border with the troubled neighbouring Sudan.

Deng Dau Deng Malek, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan, expressed his lack of awareness regarding the issuance of such directives, casting doubt on the credibility of the reports.

"I am not aware of the issue of such reports. Where did you get the information?" Wondered Malek. Before adding, "This is incorrect and unfounded information".

The South Sudanese official was responding to media reports quoting officials in South Sudan who attributed the directive to President Salva Kiir, ordering the military and security forces to close borders with Sudan and the Central African Republic to prevent the spillover of the conflict in Sudan.

The rumours emerged after attacks by the SPLA-Hilu on the capital of South Kordofan State, which borders South Sudan, breaking a cessation of hostilities facilitated by the South Sudanese government.

President Kiir exerted efforts to mediate an end to the South Kordofan conflict, saying the conflict affects his relations with Sudan and destabilizes national security.

Maj Gen Lul Ruai Koang, the spokesperson for South Sudan’s People’s Defence Force, also denied any knowledge of the directives given to the military to close borders with Sudan or any neighbouring country in the region.

Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
, called for cyberattacks against websites targeting young people.

Al-Houthi said in a tweet on Twitter: "I call on Moslem youths in the whole world to launch cyberattacks against pornographic sites."

He added: "The destruction of sites that promote, call or display these is an act of jihad for the sake of Allah."

He stressed that the destruction of these sites "is a very important step to fight corruption and global crime, and God does not like corruption. Of cooperation on righteousness and piety is a real confrontation with the advocates of homosexuality in the American system and others who enact laws to protect them."

Europe
Germany’s far-right AfD wins county leadership for first time, as it rises in polls
[IsraelTimes] The far-right Alternative for Germany party sees its first head of a county administration elected today in a rural eastern region, a win that comes as national polls show its support at record levels.

A runoff election in Sonneberg county pitted Robert Sesselmann, the candidate from Alternative for Germany, against center-right rival Jurgen Köpper. Official figures show Sesselmann, who had been well ahead in the first round two weeks ago, winning by 52.8% to 47.2%.

Sonneberg has a relatively small population of 56,800, but the win is a symbolic milestone for Alternative for Germany, or AfD. The 10-year-old party has been polling between 18% and 20% in national surveys lately.

It has been riding high as center-left Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s governing coalition, with the environmentalist Greens and the pro-business Free Democrats, faces strong headwind over high immigration, a plan to replace millions of home heating systems, and a reputation for infighting, while inflation remains high.

Köpper’s center-right opposition Union bloc leads national polls, with lackluster support ratings of just under 30%.

AfD first entered the national parliament in 2017 after campaigning strongly against migration following an influx of refugees to Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
during the preceding years. Lately, it has come out against German support for Ukraine.

Despite being largely shunned by mainstream parties, it has established itself as a durable force, particularly in the formerly communist and less prosperous east. An AfD candidate made it into last week’s runoff mayoral election in Schwerin, the capital of the eastern state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, but was easily defeated.

Sonneberg is located in Thuringia, one of three eastern regions that holds state elections next year.

AfD has drifted to the right over the years and faces increasing scrutiny from Germany’s domestic intelligence agency.

Its regional branch in Thuringia is headed by a prominent figure on the party’s hard right, Björn Höcke, who recently was charged by prosecutors over his alleged use in a 2021 speech of a slogan used by the Nazis’ SA stormtroopers.

US to reportedly halt science and tech research with Israeli entities over Green Line
More to share with others, then. And just because the American government is not involved has no bearing on where private investors put their money.
[IsraelTimes] The United States has reportedly told Israel that it will cease scientific and technological cooperation with entities in the West Bank, the Golan Heights and East Jerusalem, reverting to a long-running policy that was reversed under then-US president Donald Trump.

The move is a return to the previous directive barring scientific and technological cooperation in the areas that a US State Department official defined to the Kan public broadcaster as beyond the 1967 Green Line and “which remain subject to negotiations on their permanent status.”

The official tells the broadcaster that the updated directive “simply reflects the position of the United States over the years.”

“We are working toward negotiations for a two-state solution, where Israel lives in peace and security alongside a viable Palestinian state,” the unnamed official says.

IDF to send 2 more battalions to West Bank after series of settler attacks
...where they also will be useful against Hamasniks and other miscreants as well.
[IsraelTimes] The Israel Defense Forces says it will be bolstering the West Bank with two additional battalions, following a recent string of settler attacks against Paleostinian villages and towns.

The IDF says the decision was made following a fresh assessment.

Last week, following a deadly terror attack at a gas station near the settlement of Eli, the army deployed four more battalions to the area.

Typically, the IDF’s West Bank division has 13 battalions. Over the past year and a half, that number has fluctuated because of an anti-terror offensive, following a series of deadly Paleostinian terror attacks, reaching a height of 26 battalions in October 2022, before dropping back down by several battalions.
