- Being charming ---but only superficially.
- Living by the pleasure principle.

#11  Well ask yourself, what do you really know, really know, about him ?

AlanC, Besoeker, and rjschwarz have pointed out characterizations of the person, and yet very little information is really known and verified about his character, motivations or accomplishments. He could have acted this way for a very long time, but successfully hid his foibles, from all but his closest friends. ValJar springs to mind. airandee and Injun Ulomoque8628 have hit the target with their comments, me, I agree with ed in texas but many people see what Skidmark said.

#19  Modern discourse disallows reference to the vertical component of life and so treats evil, which arrives through that component, as a mental disease, as belonging to the horizontal component of life. This restriction distorts and attenuates analysis of any condition in which evil operates and makes conclusions regarding any such condition superficial and unsatisfactory. The personality in question is indeed mentally ill, but that is only the half of it. Were he/she only that, they would have been unmasked and cauterized decades ago. It is the other half of their phenomenology, the one arriving on the vertical component of life, which accounts for their having got so far as they have. It is also what makes them globally rather than merely locally dangerous and destructive. No mere mad-man could cause even just the havoc already wrought by this personality, much less the unimaginable but certain "more to come" we have yet to observe and cope with as best we can.

But he got the job despite total lack of qualification, and kept it---despite sub-standard performance, because of his race.

#24  narcissist? Yes! But then you have to be to hold the position. He is immature, Follows the lead of a woman from Iran, Has never had to perform under pressure, Has never had to finish anything, or even see it through to completion. He is completely incapable of managing the position he is in. incompetent? Yes, Crazy? Nope.
Posted by: 49 Pan || 11/08/2014 15:22 Comments || Top||

#25  I think part of it is his, or their, narcissism. Remember "we are the ones we have been waiting for!" And the Obama seal, and let's not forget the Greek columns.
The other part is that he is simply unqualified for the job. He is as qualified as I am to quarterback the Seahawks. He has never had to be responsible for anything. Never built anything. Never met payroll. So he depends on the likes of ValJar and Buffet (or worse yet a committee), Eric Holder, and the Racist Wonder Twins (Jackson and Sharpton) and others to make his decisions for him.

#27  The guy was never really vetted. What does anyone now of him? With most other presidents or the average joe for that matter, they have a trail of people who knew them. Most people have people who know or knew them; for example people from grade school or high school, people from college, people whose wedding they were in, neighbors over the years, people who worked with the individual, people in a boy scout/girl troop, a football or basketball team, former teachers, relatives, etc. Obama is a ghost. For all anyone knows, he spent 20 years in a mental institution somewhere. Think about a guy like Bush or Reagan, or most other presidents, most of us knew them in some way that we could relate to. We could picture them as Americans with a shared set of common experiences. With "O" none of this seems to be true.

If you look at the few scant experiences which are reported about Obama, he smoked dope and did cocaine by his own admission, he was raised with Muslim and communist influences, and his mother and father abandoned him. It would seem that much of that is a set up for mental illness. Others in this thread have mentioned his behaviors while president that would indicate that mental illness is a strong possibility.

2. Lincoln came from Illinois . Obama comes from Illinois .

3. Lincoln served in the Illinois Legislature. Obama served in the Illinois Legislature.

4. Lincoln had very little experience before becoming President. Obama had very little experience before becoming President.

5. Lincoln rode the train from Philadelphia to Washington for his inauguration. Obama rode the train from Philadelphia to Washington for his inauguration.

6. Lincoln was highly respected by some, but intensely disliked by others. Obama is highly respected by some, but intensely disliked by others.

7. Abraham Lincoln was a tall, skinny lawyer. Barack Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer.

8. Lincoln held to basic Conservative and Christian views. Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer.

9. Lincoln volunteered in the Illinois militia, once as a captain, twice as a private. Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer.

11. Lincoln was undeniably, and without any doubt, born in the United States. Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer.

12. Lincoln was honest - so honest that he was called 'Honest Abe'. Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer.

13. Lincoln preserved the United States as a strong nation, respected by the world. Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer.

14. Lincoln showed his obvious respect for the flag, U. S. Constitution, and the military. Obama is a tall, skinny lawyer.

#2  the U.S. and other Western nations have chosen to accept Islamists demands to modify their long held values, and eroding the freedoms of their own citizens. This submission to Islamist intimidation leads to the prevalent ‘political correctness’ syndrome that further compromises our security.

Who the hell are they talking about. I think that if you ask most decent Americans, you would find that they would not accept that premise. It is only in Washington that such poppycock finds a fertile hotbed among the spineless weasel class. Most others would say &$#@ that $hit. The midterms outcomes would indicate differently.

India-Pakistan
Senseless bloodletting
[DAWN] IT will take us some time to absorb the full horror of the recent mob-murder of a young Christian couple at a brick kiln not far from Lahore.
Not that long to forget it, though
The murkiness of the blasphemy allegation, the suspicion that the incident was sparked by a financial dispute, and the chilling manner of the couple's death make the criminal deed all the more horrific, especially as it involved a frightening herd instinct. Just days after the murder, we witnessed a similar episode of shame and sorrow: on Thursday, in Gujrat, an assistant sub-inspector killed a detainee with an axe at his cop shoppe, later saying that the victim had uttered blasphemous words.
Oh, well. In that case go ahead and hit him with the ax.
The police say there is no evidence of this claim, and that their colleague was enraged at the insults hurled at him by the murdered man who was said to be mentally unsound. Yet that makes the underlying point all the more significant: increasingly, suspicions of blasphemy are not only creating dangerous and frequently deadly flashpoints of violence, the charge itself can be, and is, easily misused to mask other motives. If ASI Faraz Naveed from Gujrat felt that the law and his colleagues might view his crime in a more lenient light if he cited blasphemy as the motive behind the murder, it is only because all too often that has proved to be the case.

Pakistain has witnessed assault after assault on this count, each one eventually brushed under the carpet -- even in those cases where it is evident that the charge was falsely used to cover up other, more ulterior, motives. The law itself is problematic; its existence has emboldened individuals or mobs to take the law into their own hands and set out to slaughter. And when this happens, fear spreads through entire communities, often forcing them to leave their homes and flee en masse.

It is essential to find some way to stop the violence and bloodletting that follows blasphemy accusations.
Set up a gallows with fifty ropes. Fill the ropes with necks. Repeat as necessary.
Such a pass has been reached that lawyers and judges involved in blasphemy cases find themselves a target, and let it not be forgotten that Mumtaz Qadri, the murderer of Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer, was in the news recently because he incited a prison guard to attack another detainee. Correcting the path is, no doubt, a daunting task; yet, it must be done if Pakistain has any aspirations at all of being counted amongst the world's more progressive nations.
Posted by: Fred || 11/08/2014 00:00 || Comments || Link || [8 views] Top|| File under: Govt of Pakistan

#1  It has to be done, and done convincingly, if Pakistain is to ever be considered a "civilized nation". Right now, there's no evidence of it.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
The Dangerous New Status Quo In Jerusalem
[IsraelTimes] The ongoing wave of attacks in Jerusalem, and the festivities between Paleostinian youths and Israeli security forces, indicate strongly that the favorite approach of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his ministers -- "managing the conflict," rather than solving it -- is creating a difficult reality for the capital of the state of Israel.

The status quo is holding in the West Bank, with the possible exception of the car-ramming attack/accident near the al-Aroub refugee camp north of Hebron on Wednesday night. Paleostinian Authority security forces have managed -- during and since the summer's Israel-Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, conflict -- to maintain the relative quiet. There are almost no attacks coming out of the West Bank; and the PA security apparatus, despite the unity agreement between the PA and Hamas, has not stopped arresting Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
and Hamas members. In the two months since the end of Operation Protective Edge, the PA has detained more than 250 activists from the two organizations.

Meet The Fisherman Who Faced 20 Years In Prison For Losing Three Fish
"A federal prosecutor charged Yates with violating the “anti-document-shredding” provision of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act passed in the wake of the Enron accounting scandal. The prosecutor argued that the statute prohibits the destruction of tangible evidence, and because 69 rather 72 groupers were counted upon re-inspection, Yates had likely run afoul of the law. The anti-shredding violation is punishable by up to 20 years in prison."
