2022-10-01 -Lurid Crime Tales-
Navy recruit, 21, is found NOT GUILTY of 2020 arson that gutted USS Bonhomme Richard and caused $1.2B in damage - as it's revealed there was a SECOND suspect who was kicked out of service
  • Seaman Recruit Ryan Mays was found not guilty of setting the fire that destroyed USS Bonhomme Richard in July 2020

  • Prosecutors failed to present enough evidence which tied Mays to the arson

  • The ship burned for more than four days and caused an estimated $1.2 billion in damages

  • Mays' defense introduced information that the Navy had another suspect they gave up on after the sailor was kicked out of the service

  • 'Sailor E.M.' was seen 'sprinting' from the location the flame began

#1 ....I should mention - and honored mods, I understand if this gets the post deleted - but there are indications (no more than that at this point) that the E.M. in question is a member of a Protected Class(TM).

#3 Ref #1 above

Bingo! The not guilty judgement of course abrogated the need for the introduction of the defense evidence proffer of more details. I knew this smelled in how long it was taking to come to trial. Two year-long delay was the signature of making the case lose PR impact because something would make it damage the whole pronoun woke-Navy diversity melodrama. Tidy this up and move on, careers are at stake, and good order, morale and discipline of the service will hardly be noticed.

#4  ^ Nevermind the Navy lost a carrier and is likely to lose more if the woke nonsense continues.

#5 This is a summary of the Navy's investigation from 2021. I'm not sure how much more brutal the defense case could have been.
