#8 Some of my ancestors gave up fighting their oppressors after the Battle of the Thames in 1813 when Tecumseh fell. By the Civil War they had joined their former oppressors in fighting at the Battle of the Crater and Petersburg. Some died at Andersonville.

#10 Dron66046 2021-06-15, I could be wrong but I believe the New Zealand Maori are the exception. They fought the British to a draw. Still lost their country but i don't believe they were oppressed.
