#3 Unless they have been federalized (and I don't think they have), the governors can call their NG back.

That would be the surest sign states are about to leave the Union if they pulled their NG back from Washington despite Federal orders.

#8 In third world countries families of federal troops have a very good life. The troops also control and run a lot more of the public infrastructure than people realize.

#9 Hard to find which units are in DC. So far I have found D.C., Maryland and Virginia, New York, Delaware, Michigan, West Virginia, New Jersey and Pennsylvania have also been deployed.

#12 You raise an interesting point, Skunky. Is the "Praetorian Guard" made up of primarily blue state NG units? If so, it says a lot about the purpose of, and thinking behind, the deployment of troops in our Capitol.
