#1 Make sure to take that vitamin D3 with vitamin K2(MK7). One of vitamin D3's jobs is to get Calcium from the gut into the bloodstream, and K2 gets it into your bones and other places it belongs instead of plating out in your blood vessels and joint tissues.

Got low back pain. And walk stiff? Could be vitamin D3 deficiency.

I need about 5,000 IU D3 daily to keep my levels where they belong given the conditions where I live.

Darker skin requires more vitamin D supplementation than lighter.

And I hear vitamin D3 is more of a hormone than a vitamin.

#15 #10 Yes, Mr Auburn. But, before you accept the idea of VitD as useful against covid, I suggest you google
(a) Mediterranean Diet & vitamin D.
(b) Look up Covid stats in Italy, Spain, and Portugal (the stats from the other side of Mediterranean are, IMO, unreliable).

p.s. USA foods are fortified with Vitamin D. So, consult your family physician before taking it as a supplement - because it's toxic in high concentration.

No problem. And Zinc should be paired with the right amount of copper, not too much, not too little.

Selenium is good. We eat a few Brazil nuts each day.

Vitamins C and E help, the complete vitamins in both cases, not the hollowed out ones that you'll typically find on a drugstore shelf.

And it has been said that if your vitamin D levels are low then supplementation doesn't help some conditions because it may indicate a deeper problem. Maybe.

All part of what needs to be done to get your immune system into a state where it has the resources it needs to react appropriately, and not go flying off the handle and end up hurting itself because it is out of balance.

#31 Always remember, correlation is NOT causation.

C, D, and E are all metabolically linked, and magnesium, selenium, and zinc are also in the metabolic chain. Best way is to get those is via food sources, not in a pill. But if you do not, then pills are a fallback.

But also remember that absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Eat right.

#32 Medical word of caution: If you are on blood thinners, or have clotting issues, talk to your physician before taking any Vitamin K supplement, as well as eating greens and things that contain it. You could be putting yourself at higher risk for strokes, pulmonary embolism, and/or heart attacks.

Yes, by metabolizing cholesterol, as I recall. Twenty minutes of direct sunlight exposure of bare arms and legs between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. during the summer should do the trick. Longer during the other three seasons, longer outside that 10-2 bracket, presumably shorter for you gentlemen wearing only a Speedo.
