#1 Yep twos peas in a pod China and North Korea, just staying cozy with one another. Hope they never venture below the 38th parallel again and take Seoul again. That would spell disaster.

#5 They may be concerned about Nork refugees but I wonder how much of a problem that would really be.

Think about it: China is a country of 1.2 billion people. If Nork-land implodes, you'd have some refugees -- two million? Three? That's a drop in the bucket. Yes, yes, they'd all be along the border region in Manchuria, but the Chinese, particular with appeals to the SKors, the UN, and to gullible Uncle Sugar, could provide for them.

So to be honest I'm not sure how big an issue the refugee issue is.

Using the Norks as a sharp stick in our eyes, of course, makes them much more valuable to the Chinese.

#6 The Chinese are continually dealing with what, a hundred million internally displaced types? The whole "Chinese problem" is how to absorb their unneeded rural population into the new industrial economy. They're continually jogging ahead of the social-chaos freight train; somebody putting an extra ton or so of coal into the boiler can't be something the runners want to happen.
