#4 TW, actually, that was a reference to Ye Olde berserkers, who did that a lot, they were supposedly impervious to harm while in transe (or drunk, or high with mushrooms); both celts and vikings (from where the name comes) had that type of behavior IIRC (and celts often painted their naked body blue, they were smurfs with swords, if you wish).

#5 Actually, I think it was the Picts that painted their bodies blue, A5089. It was done as part of their worship of the full moon. The Picts were more or less displaced by the Celts, although there are still some of us around.
