#2 Obviously, some folks in Egypt do not yet understand the consequences of their voting choices.

Heck, some folks in the US don't seem to understand that!

#6 No one will love me for this comment, but a democratic Egypt will mostly honestly express the will of its people. Ok, they are Islamic. Surprise. They want girls to be subservient. Surprise. They want people to respect them. Surprise. They want food to eat. Surprise.

Look, these people have been oppressed. Their wants have been denied. A democratic system will convey their honest wants. We may like that message or not, but at least it is an honest message. This is who they are. This is what they want.

Is it better for us? I say yes, because we know what we are dealing with. If we can compromise with their government, we in fact are compromising with the people rather than the powerful, which creates long term stability.

If we can't compromise with them, then either they or we will change through conflict, to find a compromise.

Democracy is better, even when it exposes people who hate us, because it makes the battlefield clear.
