#2 God gives each of us plenty of ability to see good from bad. That "made in His image" thing.

#5 Sure anti-Enlightement types have ethics. They display those ethics all the time. **THEY HATE YOU**. That's their ethics. They're not particularly for anything as they are against your continued existence. Once all of you are gone...well probably there will be some kind of infighting followed by technological tyranny for 1,000 years...but hey it will all have been worth it to slay the biggest monster the world ever wrought: the Western Enlightenment.

#6 The Printing Press and the mass production / dissemination of knowledge had a noticeable effect as well. Also more trade and more agriculture because that philosophy stuff works so much better on a full stomach.
