#3 It's crazy. Not that a newspaper doesn't have a right to go busybodying around wherever it likes, but Sutter is two or three counties away from the Bay Area. The county seat is roughly a hundred miles from SF, off on the other side of Sacramento. Roughly... I'm no native.

Exactly. AFAIC anyone who works in any capacity for any media is by definition a public figure and we all have the right to know everything about them. Everything.
