CDC, Pre-2015: Vaccination = the injection of a killed or weakened infectious organism in order to prevent the disease.

CDC, 2015-2021: Vaccination = the act of introducing a vaccine into the body in order to produce immunity to a specific disease

CDC, September 2021: Vaccination = the act of introducing a vaccine into the body in order to produce protection from a specific disease
