Federal officials close border into Mexico amid migrant protests
[SDUT] As predicted. Expect Mexico to see things in a different light, soon. Remember - the wymyns and children are the human shields. 80% are military-age males, many of whom are gang members, like MS-13
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials closed southbound vehicle and pedestrian crossings at the San Ysidro port of entry at noon Sunday amid protests around the migrant caravan.

Northbound vehicle traffic processing at San Ysidro is also currently suspended, and the pedestrian crossings at the San Ysidro port of entry are also suspended.

The agency said it has deployed additional personnel to the border due to multiple planned protests on both sides. The personnel included Customers and Border Protection officers, U.S. Border Patrol agents and Air and Marine agents recently sent to the region, according to a report on CNN. .

San Diego Police also readied on-duty officers Sunday afternoon to respond to the border division to help if needed.

Ukrainian Navy: Russia's coast guard opens fire on Ukrainian boats in the Azov Sea (DEVELOPING)
[Kyiv Post - via Weasel Zippers] The Ukrainian Navy has reported that Russian coast guard boats opened fire on three Ukrainian boats in the Azov Sea on the evening of Nov. 25. Ukraine's small armored artillery boats Berdyansk and Nikopol sustained damage and were immobilized. Tugboat Yani Kapu, which had been rammed by a Russian coast guard boat earlier today, was also forced to stop.

All three vessels have been seized by Russian special ops unit, the Ukrainian Navy press service reports.

Two Ukrainian naval officers have reportedly been wounded.

President Petro Poroshenko has convened a military cabinet for an emergency meeting, his spokesman Svyatoslav Tsegolko wrote on Twitter.

Six casualties, child killed in Zamboanga clash
The Philippine Navy on Saturday confirmed the killing of a woman and a child following a clash between soldiers and Abu Sayyaf rebels in Zamboanga City, and said three more minors were also wounded in the fighting in Limaong village.

Navy spokesman Rene Medina said marines clashed Friday with rebels and killed a notorious Abu Sayyaf fighter, Abu Nibras, whose group operates in nearby Basilan province. He said villagers reported the presence of the militants and soldiers were immediately sent to area and caught up with the armed group and fighting erupted, adding, the woman and child who were caught in the crossfire were believed to be Abu Nibras’ family.

Medina said, "The conduct of military operations was due to the reported sightings of unidentified armed individuals in the area. A firefight which lasted for 10 minutes, immediately ensued when Abu Nibras detected the presence of the Marines. An adult female and a minor was found dead in the encounter site, while three other minors, who sustained wounds were immediately given first aid and transferred to a medical facility for emergency treatment. The adult female and minors are believed to be the wife and children of the neutralized Abu.”

He said the slain rebel was included in the government’s “terror list” and it was not immediately known whether the Abu Sayyaf is planning to launch attacks or bombings in Zamboanga.

‘No Crossings': POTUS Pushes Mexico To Stop Caravans Before The Start
[Daily Caller] President Donald Trump is ratcheting up calls for Mexico to prevent future caravans from entering the southern border through Honduras and other Central American countries.

"Would be very SMART if Mexico would stop the Caravans long before they get to our Southern Border, or if originating countries would not let them form (it is a way they get certain people out of their country and dump in U.S. No longer)," Trump tweeted Sunday. "Dems created this problem. No crossings!"

Trump did not explain why he thinks Democrats are responsible for the caravan. But conservatives often blame the influx of refugees on so-called "catch and release," a nearly decade-old policy releasing asylum seekers who enter the country illegally while their cases are pending.

Former President Barack Obama often used the policy with illegal immigrants who claimed to be in peril if they were not allowed into the U.S.

Clinton Foundation Donations Take $36 Million Plunge This Year
[Breitbart] Donors have left the Clinton Foundation in the dust one year after Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 presidential election to President Donald Trump, according to the organization’s latest federal tax filings.

The filings, obtained by the New York Post on Saturday, showed that contributions to the foundation took a $36 million nosedive over the past year‐reported contributions fell from $62,912,331 in 2016 to $26,566,825 in 2017.

The $36 million drop in donations comes as House Republicans plan to hold hearings in December on the results of a Justice Department probe into the Clinton Foundation‐one month before Democrats assume control of the House.

Donations to the foundation have tanked over the past few years as the organization had tried to fend off allegations that Hillary Clinton used the foundation to engage in pay-to-play schemes with foreign governments.

In 2015, donations plummeted by 37 percent amid allegations that Clinton, the former 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, used the charity to solicit millions of dollars in donations from foreign governments and corporations in exchange for giving these entities favorable treatment while she served as Secretary of State.

Would have been perfectly fine and legal, of course. Would have been all kinds of people and rules in place to make sure the First Couple weren't involved, all quite according to Hoyle. Money would have been coming in because the Foundation was so good at making sure it went to the right place, certainly not with any political intent at influence.

More than 100 injured in Aleppo in insurgent gas attack: Syrian state media
BEIRUT (Reuters) - Shelling by insurgents wounded more than 100 people in a suspected toxic gas attack in Syria’s Aleppo, which a health official described as the first such assault in the city.

The shells caused dozens of people breathing problems on Saturday night in Aleppo, while government shelling killed nine people in a village in Idlib, a monitoring group said.

State news agency SANA said on Sunday 107 people were injured in Aleppo after militants hit three districts with projectiles containing gases that caused choking.

It marks the highest such casualty toll in Aleppo since government forces and their allies clawed back the city from rebels nearly two years ago.

Rebel officials denied using chemical weapons and accused the Damascus government of trying to frame them.

Moscow, a key Damascus ally, accused insurgents on Sunday of bombarding Aleppo with shells filled with chlorine gas, poisoning 46 people, including eight children.

The Russian defense ministry said the attack was launched from territory that former al-Qaeda militants control in the rebel stronghold of Idlib.

Russia also said it would talk to Turkey, which backs some rebel factions and has brokered a ceasefire with Moscow in the Idlib region.

"The explosive (shells) contain toxic gases that led to choking among civilians," Aleppo police chief Issam al-Shilli told state media.

The Doomsday Cult
[Townhall] The end is near, we’re all going to die. Unless, that is, we empower government to control more of the economy and our lives. It’s a standard trick of the left ‐ predict doom and gloom in the future in an attempt to scare the Hell out of people while promising to avoid it if we let them get their way. While this could apply to nearly anything Democrats are pushing on any given day, this week it’s about global cooling. I mean, global warming. Er, scratch that, climate change...for now, at least.

The government issued another climate report on Friday, as required by law, and it is full of...well, let’s just call it hyperventilating about how we’re destroying the planet. The report "is based on more than 1,000 previous research studies," according to the Associated Press. That means two things ‐ it’s based on the work of others, mainly people whose job is dependent on perpetuating the climate change myth, and it’s not new. But hey, it’s on official letterhead this time, so "STOP THE PRESSES," or something.

The problem with these sorts of "studies" is the main conclusion is already made before the actual work begins. These academics aren’t studying to see if the changing climate is caused by man or nature, it’s simply accepted as faith that it’s man’s fault. So these studies are done to reinforce preconceived notions and justify jobs. These academics who conduct them have to justify their jobs and bring in grant money, government grant money; our money.

Yet this is nothing new. Liberals have been pushing the "we’re all going to die because we’re destroying the planet" idea for decades. Long before the famous "global cooling" episode in the 1970s, they were pushing this narrative for control.

Campaigners challenge U.N. over forced labour in Uzbekistan's cotton industry
LONDON, Nov 23 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Rights groups on Friday disputed findings by the United Nations showing Uzbekistan has nearly eliminated forced labour from its cotton industry, saying that exploitation is still "systematic".

The annual cotton harvest in Uzbekistan is the world's largest recruitment operation, with about 2.6 million people temporarily picking cotton every year, according to the U.N. International Labour Organization (ILO).

Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov said last year that the Central Asian nation would no longer have thousands of students, teachers and healthcare workers picking the harvest - halting a practice widely condemned as forced labour.

On Thursday the ILO said 93 percent of people involved in the country's 2018 cotton harvest had worked voluntarily, and the systematic recruitment of students, teachers, doctors and nurses had ended.

Yet the Uzbek-German Forum for Human Rights said its own research since September found that public sector workers were still being forced to pick cotton by the state in Uzbekistan - one of the world's leading cotton exporters.

"Our evidence shows forced labour this year was still systematic and massive," Umida Niyazova, director at the forum, told the Thomson Reuters Foundation in a telephone interview.

The rights group monitored this year's cotton harvest in seven regions and interviewed at least 300 people who were forced to work or pay for workers to take their place, she said.

Neither the Uzbek labour ministry nor the embassy in London could be reached for comment.

President Trump's farmer bailout flows to city slickers (large corporate entities and wealthy absentee landlords)
[The Hill] We’re learning the first details of the Department of Agriculture’s bailout for farmers whose exports were hit by President Trump’s trade war. Department records show that more than 1,000 payments were made to "city slickers" who live in the nation’s largest cities, according to information the Environmental Working Group has obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.

So far, the USDA has pledged to provide up to $12 billion to offset the impacts of Trump’s trade war. The first round includes $4.7 billion in direct payments to growers of soybeans, corn, cotton, sorghum, wheat, hogs, dairy, sweet cherries and shelled almonds.

The data includes almost 88,000 payments made through Oct. 31, totaling $356 million. That’s less than one-tenth of the amount the administration expects to make through Trump’s Market Facilitation Program.

But our analysis of this small slice of data reveals that 1,142 bailout payments were made to "farmers" in the nation’s 50 largest cities, including nine residents of San Francisco, four residents of Los Angeles, five residents of New York City and four residents of Washington, D.C.

Based on this sample, it’s reasonable to expect that more than 20,000 big-city "farmers" will ultimately receive bailout payments. That number would be consistent with an earlier EWG analysis, which found that nearly 20,000 people living in the nation’s largest cities received farm subsidy payments in 2017.

How is this possible? It would be easy to blame Congress, as Congress has consistently failed to require that farm subsidy recipients contribute personal labor to the farm. The Government Accountability Office recently found that nearly one-fourth of farm subsidy recipients do not work on the farm.

Malawi sangoma Madson Benson retires from medicine the hard way
[Breitbart] An angry mob killed a man in Munaje, Malawi, this week after he was implicated in the death of another individual by practicing "witchcraft," local media reported.

Police accused the 55-year-old man, identified as Mandson Benson, of being responsible for the death of another man, identified as Chifundo Mwenye, this month. A group of Mwenye’s relatives reportedly ganged up on Benson before beating him to death.

"The deceased was indeed assaulted to death by an angry mob led by some relatives of the person who was said to have been killed by the deceased using witchcraft and was pronounced dead at Mulanje District Hospital," said a local police spokesperson.
Police have since arrested seven suspects in connection with the case, all on charges of murder. They are currently awaiting their court appearance. Meanwhile, local authorities have urged the public not to try and take the law into their own hands.

Belief in witchcraft is common in Malawi and across other African nations including Tanzania, where many negative or unfortunate events from bad weather to the spread of disease are blamed on mystical forces. Last year, rumors of blood-sucking vampire activity in a small town in Mozambique triggered riots and vandalism on local property.

ISIS claims deadly attack on tribal region in Pakistan
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The ISIS group on Saturday grabbed credit for a suicide kaboom that destroyed a marketplace in Pakistain’s restive northwestern tribal region, as the corpse count climbed to 33.

The blast happened during a regular Friday bazaar in Kalaya, a town in a Shiite-dominated area of Orakzai tribal district.

In a statement posted on Amaq, the news site of the group, ISIS said claimed "57 Shiites were killed and 75 were maimed" in the attack
.
However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...

Zimbabwe: White Ex-Farmers Unimpressed With $53 Million Compensation - Say Owed $9 Billion
[All Africa] A top farming official says the government's budget allocation of $53 million to compensate white farmers won't be enough to solve the outstanding problem of compensation.

Finance minister Mthuli Ncube announced the fund in his 2019 budget proposals which were put before Parliament this Thursday.

Government has long since resolved to compensate the farmer and the budgetary provision, according to Prof Ncube showed the administration's "commitment to this obligation".

However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
Commercial Farmers Union (CFU) Director Ben Purcell-Gilpin said the $53 million cannot solve the compensation issue.

But he said it showed the government hasn't forgotten about the need to repay those who lost their farms over the past 18 years, adding that some of the farmers are in desperate financial straits.

Purcell-Gilpin said it was also possible that most of the $53 million allocated under Thursday's budget would go to compensate foreign landowners, who were protected by BIPPA trade agreements - though there's no confirmation of that.

Around 40 Dutch farmers under such agreements have been trying for years to get around $25 million from the government.

Around 4,000 white farmers lost land in the government's reform programme launched 18 years ago and are said to be owed up to $9 billion.

The government does not appear to acquire with that figure however.

"Work on the extent of the government's obligation is still to be finalised," said Prof Ncube in his budget statement.

He added; "The resources required to compensate and put closure to this important issue is obviously beyond the capacity of the budget to finance.

"In this regard, government is engaging international financial institutions and other stakeholders in exploring various sustainable options for mobilising the requisite compensation resources."

-led Resolute Support Mission says a U.S. service member has been killed in Afghanistan but further information confirming the circumstances surrounding the death of the service member has not been disclosed.

"One U.S. service member was killed in Afghanistan today," NATO said in a statement, adding that "In accordance with U.S. Department of Defense policy, the name of the service member killed in action is being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete. We will share additional information as appropriate."

The latest death of the U.S. service member brings the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Afghanistan to at least eight.

The United States Military has around 14,000 troops in Afghanistan who are mainly involved in training and advising the Afghan armed forces.

This comes as a U.S. general was killed in an insider attack in Kabul nearly three weeks ago.

CAR War Crimes Suspect 'Rambo' Protests Rough Treatment
[All Africa] A lawyer for former militia leader Alfred Yekatom, who appeared before judges at the International Criminal Court on Friday for the first time, claimed his client had been beaten after his arrest.

Prosecutors at the court claim that 43-year-old Yekatom, also known by the nickname Rambo or Colonel Rambo, is responsible for crimes that include murder, torture, mutilation and the use of child soldiers. Yekatom was extradited to The Hague last Saturday after his initial detention by local forces in the CAR.

The crimes he is charged with took place between December 2013 and August 2014, as a civil war raged in the Central African Republic (CAR). The country is still wracked by conflict between the militias and army.

At the opening, defense lawyer Xavier-Jean Keita told presiding Judge Antoine Mindua that Yekatom had been beaten with a Kalashnikov rifle butt. He also said Yekatom had been held illegally by local forces, before being transferred to The Hague.

"His fundamental rights were violated," Keita said.

Bahrain Holds Vote amid Boycott Calls
[An Nahar] Bahrain holds a parliamentary election Saturday amid boycott calls from dissolved opposition groups which have been banned from taking part.

The country's two main opposition groups, the Shiite al-Wefaq and secular Waad, were barred from fielding candidates.

The polls opened at 8am local time (0500 GMT) and are set to close at 8pm.

King Hamad
...King of Bahrain (since 14 February 2002), having previously been its emir (from 6 March 1999). He is a Sunni, while the rest of Bahrain is predominantly Shiite...
in September urged voters to take part in the vote, in which officials say 293 people -- including 41 women -- are running for parliament.

A municipal poll coincides with the parliamentary vote.

The tiny Gulf kingdom has been hit by ongoing unrest since 2011, when security forces crushed Shiite-led protests demanding a constitutional monarchy and an elected prime minister.

Opposition parties shunned the last elections in 2014, the first since the 2011 crackdown, denouncing the vote as a "farce".

More than 350,000 Bahrainis are eligible to vote in Saturday's poll, according to justice minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ali al-Khalifa, adding that there were 54 polling stations across the country.

Lahore court reserves verdict on petition seeking sedition charges against Khadim Rizvi
[DAWN] A Lahore sessions court on Saturday reserved its verdict on a petition seeking sedition charges against Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistain (TLP) chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi and others for their diatribe against the judiciary, armed forces and other state institutions.

Filed by advocate Abdullah Malik, the petition states that the station house officer (SHO) of Civil Lines cop shoppe in Lahore had failed to file a first information report (FIR) against Rizvi and company after they had incited the masses to violence and stage mutiny against the state, in the aftermath of the apex court's acquittal of Aasia Bibi from blasphemy charges.

The Civil Lines police, in today's hearing, submitted its report and told the court that an FIR had already been lodged against Rizvi under Sections 291, 290, 186, 353, 427 and 188 of the Pakistain Penal Code as well as Section 16 of the Maintenance of Public Order.

At this, the petitioner's counsel insisted that sedition charges against the TLP leader should also be added to the FIR.

Additional Sessions Judge Rai Mohammad Kharal, following the conclusion of the arguments, reserved the verdict on the petition.

Rizvi is currently in the "protective custody" of Punjab

Turns out all of humanity is related to a single couple
[NYPOST] It really is all relative.

A new study revealed that all humans are descendants of the same man and woman who lived 100,000 to 200,000 years ago.

Our communal mom and dad got together after a “catastrophic event” almost wiped out the human race, the Daily Mail reported of the study.

The researchers studied the DNA of five million animals, including humans, to come to their conclusions. They also found that every nine out of 10 animals come from the same original creatures.

The research showed that humans have very low genetic diversity and variants within the species, similar to many other animals.

The report comes out of Rockefeller University and the University of Basel, Switzerland, published in the journal “Human Evolution.”

U.S. Reaches Deal With Mexico To Have Asylum Applicants Wait Across The Border
[Hot Air] I’m shocked, and for once it’s the good kind of shocked. Read yesterday’s post for background if you haven’t already. How on earth did the White House convince Mexico’s new populist left-wing president to go for this?

The status quo: An asylum-seeker surrenders to U.S. authorities, they apply for asylum, and they’re either detained while they wait or, given the paucity of detention facilities, they’re released into the United States with orders to show up for their asylum hearing. Some will, some won’t. The new process: An asylum-seeker surrenders to U.S. authorities, they go to the federal courthouse for an initial asylum hearing, and if the judge doesn’t rule then and there then they go back over the border to Mexico to wait for a determination. No more catch and release.

#11  From peanut gallery’s BBC article:

Amid growing desperation on Sunday, the group of about 500 migrants - who had been taking part in a peaceful protest for the right to seek political asylum in the US - made a run for the border.

Mexico's Home Secretary, Alfonso Navarrete, said the group had asked for help to organise the demonstration, but had reportedly been encouraged by some of the movement's leaders to split into different groups and try to cross into the US.

According to news agency AFP, a number managed to climb over the first fence. It was as they tried to cross a second, spike-topped wall that officials on the US side began throwing tear gas.

An AFP journalist saw the migrants - including mothers and children - trying to protect themselves from the gas, with some crying out that they only wanted to find a work and a better life in the US.

I am all admiration at mothers able to climb over such barriers with small children, but now they will not pass Go, nor collect the $200. There is a lesson in this about assumptions and counting chickens, one suspects.

Terrorism in East Africa
Long and detailed, looking back as far as the 1960s to explain the various jihadi groups that formed and split off from one another in Toad The Wet Sprocket style, including links to ISIS and Al Qaeda.
[AlAhram] Numerous armed Islamist groups continue to plague the East African region and especially Somalia as a result of the fragmentation of the country and the lack of central authority

The collapse of state institutions in Somalia after 1991 and the lack of a central authority capable of asserting its control over the whole of Somali territory generated a complex weave of social and economic deterioration that brought about mounting rates of poverty, unemployment and crime, lowering moral and ethical standards and adding to the lack of opportunities for dignified livelihoods and exacerbating drought and famine.

The Somali people increasingly had to eke out their lives by relying on humanitarian aid from international relief agencies together with generally paltry remittances from relatives abroad. Organised crime, the kidnappings of foreigners and piracy proliferated, as did murderous Moslem jihadist groups.

Hamas on hunt for ‘collaborators’ after Israeli special forces operation in Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Official says the Paleostinian terror group possesses parts of alleged spying gear the Israeli forces were trying to install

Paleostinian terror group Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,, which rules the Gazoo Strip, is reportedly on the hunt for suspects it believes may have aided the Israeli special forces in a raid nearly two weeks ago, and is specifically looking for a small van spotted in surveillance footage, according to a Saturday report in the Lebanese newspaper al-Akhbar.

The van is alleged to have been used by the Israeli forces or those who are suspected of helping them, dubbed "collaborators," according to the report.

On November 11, a group of Israeli soldiers was discovered deep in southern Gazoo during an operation that went awry, resulting in a shootout
that left one senior IDF officer and seven Paleostinian fighters dead. The incident touched off a day of fierce rocket fire from the Strip and retaliatory Israeli Arclight airstrikes.

A Hamas official said earlier this week that the forces appeared to have been attempting to install equipment that would make it easier for Israel to eavesdrop on Paleostinians in the coastal enclave.

"The Zionist enemy tried to achieve a major security breakthrough. It apparently tried to install equipment and build something that would make it easy for it to kill, hack and abduct," deputy Hamas chief in Gazoo Khalil al-Hayya told the Hamas-affiliated al-Aqsa TV last week.

The Saturday al-Akhbar report cited a Hamas official saying the group seized some parts of the Israeli spying equipment the forces had been trying to install, which he said was similar to equipment previously seized from a "spying cell" in May.

Unremorseful IS supporter jailed for 38 years over Curtis Cheng death
[SydneyMorningHerald] An unremorseful Islamic State

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
supporter who helped a teenage terrorist kill NSW Police accountant Curtis Cheng has been placed in durance vile
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
for at least 28½ years.
Good.
Milad Atai
...pretty boy plumber and enthusiastic jihadi henchman...
was sentenced on Friday for assisting and encouraging 15-year-old Farhad Jabar
...also in our archives as Farhad Khalil Mohammad Jabar and Farhad Mohammad, the very connected, Iran-born lad of Iraqi and Kurdish background, self-described as bullied in a school with a known jihadi problem, was ripe for jihadi picking in a milieu chock full of ‘em...
to shoot Mr Cheng at the state police headquarters at Parramatta on October 2, 2015 and helping the boy's sister reach Islamic State in Syria.

In jailing the 22-year-old for a total of 38 years, NSW Supreme Court Justice Peter Johnson said Atai was a supporter of extreme jihad for many months before the terrorist attack and appeared still to hold radical views.

As he was led away from court, Atai raised his index finger in the direction of the judge and shouted in a foreign language.
Betcha the tapes would show he was shouting “Allahu akhbar,” or some similar nonsense, if there were tapes. It’s what all the kewl convicted jihadis are doing nowadays.
His barrister told the court earlier the former plumber would not stand when he was sentenced, as is customary.

"That itself is an indication of his current thinking, which is regrettable," Justice Johnson said.

Justice Johnson said that, while Atai did not play the critical role of passing to Jabar the gun used to kill Mr Cheng, he was well aware of the plans and made no attempts to dissuade the boy.

Further, as the self-described best friend of the key plotter Raban Alou,
...the known wolf who was a member of ISIS-supporting WhatsApp group ‘The Bricks’, so his subsequent actions ought not to have been a surprise...
Atai attended several meetings across Sydney's west and offered the use of his own phone as Alou tried to get Jabar a gun.

Justice Johnson said he didn't accept Atai's claim that he thought the attack had been called off.

By his own evidence, Atai said that, had he known the attack was going ahead on October 2, he would have made sure he'd have attended to help Alou, the judge said.

Atai also played a significant organizational role in helping to get Jabar's sister
...that would be Shadi Jabar Khalil Mohammad, also in our archives as Shadi Jabar, who fled to Syria the day before her younger brother murdered Mr. Cheng with a note from her in his pocket. She was killed along with her Sudanese husband Abu Sa'ad al-Sudani in an airstrike in Syria in 2016. Both she and her husband were active recruiters for ISIS. Her little brother was one of her practice projects...
to Syria, including giving her $1000 for flights and advice on the route and clothing to take to avoid detection.

Jabar died under police gunfire shortly after killing Mr Cheng.
...about which all involved were pleased, though his descent into Hell instead of ascent into Paradise no doubt startled young Master Jabar more than a little bit...
Talal Alameddine gave the .38 Smith and Wesson special calibre revolver used to kill Mr Cheng to Alou, who gave it to Jabar in the Parramatta Mosque
...Parramatta Mosque and Parramatta Court appear in a surprising number of stories about jihadis in our archives, leading one to suspect the area is a seething den of jihadism and vice...
about 15 minutes before it was used to kill Mr Cheng.

Alameddine was sentenced in May to a maximum of 17 years and eight months.
Also good.
Alou was placed in durance vile
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
for 44 years in May for aiding, abetting, counselling or procuring a terrorist act.
Very good indeed.

In early October, the newly- appointed US Department of State’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad launched his shuttle diplomacy. He is not a new face on the scene.

Khalilzad was on the US team in Geneva in 1988, which negotiated the agreement on the Soviet military withdrawal from Afghanistan. He also led the American delegation in Bonn that established the post-Taliban

Turkey protests US observation posts in north Syria
[AlAhram] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
on Saturday sharply criticised a US plan to put observation posts in northern Syria so as to help prevent festivities between Ottoman Turkish forces and a Kurd militia backed by Washington.

"I am of the opinion that these measures will only complicate further an already complicated situation," said Ottoman Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar, quoted by state-run news agency
...and if you can't trust the state-run news agency who can you believe?...
Anadolu.

"We have told our American counterparts about our unease several times," Akar said, noting that he recently raised the issue with Joe Dunford, head of the US joint chiefs of staff.

US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis said Wednesday that Washington wanted the observation posts along Syria's northern border with Turkey to help minimise tensions between the Turks and Washington's Kurdish allies in the fight against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group.

The aim was to ensure the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which includes the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia, "are not drawn off that fight."

"They will be very clearly marked locations day and night so that the Turks know where they're at," he said, noting that the decision was taken in close cooperation with Turkey.

Akar, again urging Washington to halt support for the YPG, said the observation posts would serve no use.

Turkey "will not hesitate to take the necessary measures on the other side of its borders to face up to the risks and threats which could result," he added.

The SDF announced on November 11 it would resume its offensive against IS after having previously called it off due to tensions with Turkey, which had shelled its positions in northern Syria.

Syria's long-oppressed Kurdish minority has established a semi-autonomous region in the north of the country, which has been wracked by conflict since 2011.

Turkey refuses to recognise the territory on its border, fearing it will stoke the separatist ambitions of Kurds in its own country.

Ankara has carried out two operations against Kurdish forces since 2016, the last against the border enclave of Afrin, which it seized in March and is now controlled by pro-Ottoman Turkish Syrian rebels.

Nigeria: Boko Haram Kidnaps 15 Girls
[All Africa] Suspected Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
button men kidnapped 15 girls overnight in a village near Toumour, southeastern Niger, the local mayor said on Saturday.

Boukar Mani Orthe, the mayor of the town in Niger's Diffa region near the border with Nigeria, said about 50 unidentified gunnies seized the girls in a village about nine kilometres from the town centre.

On Thursday suspected Boko Haram fighters killed eight people working at French drilling company Foraco's water well site in Toumour.

Boko Haram has been waging an insurrection since 2009 aimed at establishing an Islamic state in northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
. It has launched repeated attacks into neighbouring Niger, Chad and Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
The violence has killed thousands of civilians and forced millions to flee their homes in the large Lake Chad basin region.

Kidnapping of schoolgirls has been a Boko Haram horror mark, since its fighters in 2014 kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State, in Nigeria.

It also staged this year, another major kidnap of schoolgirls in Dapchi, Yobe state.

In Mali, French forces said they "put out of action" some 30 Islamist Lion of Islams, possibly including veteran Malian jihadist leader Amadou Koufa, during a raid in the central Mali region of Mopti.

The French army, which has about 4,500 troops in West Africa battling Islamist Lion of Islams, did not specify whether the jihadists had all been killed or taken prisoner. The operation took place with air support on Thursday night, it said.

Shelling exchange kills nine in Syria’s Idlib, injures dozens in Aleppo city
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Government shelling killed nine people on Saturday in Syria’s rebel-held Idlib, a monitor said, and state media said bad boy shells maimed dozens in Aleppo causing breathing problems.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the two women and seven children were killed in Jarjanaz village in Idlib province, where Russia and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
have agreed a buffer zone.

The UK-based Observatory also said shelling on Aleppo city, which in under government control, maimed at least 24 people including four children, causing breathing difficulties.

State news agency SANA said holy warriors hit two districts of Aleppo with shells containing substances that caused 44 people to choke.

The deal to create the demilitarized zone staved off an army offensive against the Idlib region, including nearby parts of Aleppo and Hama provinces.

Intermittent exchanges of fire have broken out in northwest Syria since the agreement between Russia, a key ally of Damascus, and Turkey, which backs some rebel factions.

The United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
says nearly 3 million people live in the northwest region and has warned against a battle to restore state rule there.

Among an array of factions controlling Idlib, the dominant force is Tahrir al-Sham
, an Islamist alliance led by fighters formerly linked to al Qaeda.

Earlier this month, Moscow accused murderous Moslems of trying to wreck the deal, while rebels accused the Syrian army and its allies of attacking the region.

Rebels deflect blame after dozens said hurt in Syria gas attack

[IsraelTimes] At least 50 civilians were being treated Saturday following a suspected poison gas attack by Syrian rebel groups on the government-held Aleppo city in the country’s north, according to reports in Syrian state media.

Most of those admitted to hospitals had breathing problems and blurred vision, doctors told state TV. One doctor said two were at death's door, including a child.

There was a stench of gas in Aleppo city after projectiles were fired, said Rami Abdurrahman, the head of Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Rebel commanders and opposition figures discredited the government reports, denying they lobbed gas into Aleppo and accusing Damascus of seeking to undermine an existing cease-fire and efforts to kickstart political talks.

Health official Haj Taha said the number of injured was up to 50, adding that symptoms suggest the gas used was chlorine. Further tests are needed, he said.

The projectiles landed in the al-Khalidiya neighborhood, and wind caused gas to spread, Aleppo police chief Essam al-Shali told state TV. State TV later said the gas affected two other areas in the city. There are no deaths, al-Shali said.

One patient said a foul smell filled the air after projectiles were lobbed.
An old fashioned stink bomb rather than chlorine? It would be a neat bit of psy-ops, if so.
"There are often missiles on the city but this is the first time we smelled such a smell," the patient said without giving his name.

State TV later said government troops retaliated, hitting the source of the attack. It didn’t elaborate.

The opposition fighters don’t have chemical weapons or the means to lob them, rebel commander Abdel-Salam Abdel-Razek said. On Twitter, he accused the government of staging the attack to frame the rebels.

Zimbabwe's Mugabe no longer able to walk, president says
[AP via News World News] Zimbabwe’s former president Robert Mugabe is no longer able to walk as his health declines, his successor has said.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa told ruling party supporters at a rally on Saturday that the 94-year-old has been in hospital in Singapore for the past two months.

"He can no longer walk but we will continue to take care of him," said Mr Mnangagwa, who took over from his former mentor a year ago after Mr Mugabe stepped down under military pressure.

Mr Mnangagwa said Mr Mugabe was supposed to return to Zimbabwe on October 15 but was not feeling well. He did not give further details about Mr Mugabe’s condition.

The former president is now expected to return to Zimbabwe on November 30. Mr Mugabe was the world’s oldest head of state before his dramatic exit.

IS attack kills 24 US-backed fighters in east Syria: Monitor
[AlAhram] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group has killed 24 US-backed fighters in two days in an attack launched from its embattled holdout in eastern Syria, a war monitor said Saturday.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Kurdish-led alliance backed by the US-led coalition is battling to expel the jihadists from a pocket in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor on the Iraqi border.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor said the jihadists broke out of that pocket on Friday to attack a nearby village where SDF fighters and coalition advisers are based.

"IS launched a broad attack on the village of al-Bahra next to its holdout, taking advantage of the fog," Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman said.

Abdel Rahman said 24 SDF fighters were killed in the attack, and violent festivities continued to rage on Saturday as coalition air planes carried out air strikes in the area.

Twenty-seven IS jihadists were killed in festivities and air strikes in the same period, according to the Observatory, which says it relies on sources inside Syria for its information.

The monitor said coalition raids has also killed 17 civilians, including five children, in the IS-held pocket since Friday.

Coalition front man Sean Ryan said he had not received any reports of civilian casualties, and insisted its air strikes had been "very limited due to the weather".

The anti-IS alliance has repeatedly denied previous reports of civilians killed in its air strikes, and said it does its utmost to avoid targeting non-combatants.

Deir Ezzor activist Omar Abu Leila said the attack on al-Bahra was "very scary" and that IS fighters were able to move quickly "taking advantage of the fog".

IS overran large swathes of Syria and neighbouring Iraq in 2014, proclaiming a "caliphate" in land it controlled but has lost most of it to offensives by multiple forces in both countries.

In Syria, the jihadists are largely confined to the pocket in Deir Ezzor, but they also have a presence in vast Badia desert that stretches across the country to the Iraqi border.

Since 2014, the US-led coalition has acknowledged direct responsibility for over 1,100 civilian deaths in Syria and Iraq, but rights groups put the number much higher.

Syria's war has killed more than 360,000 people and displaced millions since its started in 2011 with the brutal repression of anti-government protests.

US says receives credible terrorist threat against facilities in Congo
[Ynet] The US embassy in Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
said on Saturday it had received "credible and specific information of a possible terrorist threat against US government facilities" in the capital, Kinshasa.

The e-mailed security alert sent to US citizens added that the Kinshasa embassy would be closed to the public on Monday, Nov. 26.

The statement did not elaborate on the nature of the threat, and the embassy declined to comment further. None of the State Department's designated foreign terrorist organizations are known to have major operations in Congo.

The country's political situation, however, is tense. Campaigning got underway on Thursday for a Dec. 23 presidential election that is meant to select incumbent Joseph Kabila's successor.

Repeated delays to the election over the past two years sparked street protests in which security forces killed dozens of demonstrators and worsened militia violence across the country

Iran Urges Muslims to Unite against US, Including Saudi 'Brothers'
[An Nahar] Iranian President Hassan Rouhani urged Moslems worldwide on Saturday to unite against the United States and assured Saudis they were "brothers" who had nothing to fear from Tehran.

US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
abandoned a landmark 2015 nuclear deal between major powers and Tehran in May and has since reimposed crippling unilateral sanction.

"What the United States wants of (the Middle East) today is enslavement," Rouhani told an Islamic unity conference in Tehran.

Instead of "rolling out the red carpet for criminals," Moslem governments should unite against the United States and "the region's cancerous tumour", Israel, he said.

Rouhani urged Shiite Iran's Sunni rival Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
to end its dependence on "insulting" US military aid.

"We are ready to defend the Saudi people's interests against terrorism and superpowers with all our might," he said.

"We do not ask $450 billion for it and will not insult you."

Riyadh cut diplomatic ties with Tehran in January 2016 after protesters stormed its diplomatic missions in Iran following its execution of a prominent Shiite holy man.

It accuses Tehran of fomenting unrest among Shiites in the Gulf Arab states and the two governments have supported opposing sides in devastating civil wars in Syria and Yemen.

Mali says it confirms death of veteran jihadist leader Koufa
[AlAhram] Mali's army said on Saturday it had confirmed the death of Amadou Koufa, one of the most prominent jihadist leaders in the country, in a raid by French forces on Thursday night.

"I confirm that Amadou Koufa was killed during the operation," Malian army front man Colonel Diarran Kone told Rooters. He declined to elaborate.

La Belle France's army had said on Friday that Koufa may have been killed in the operation in the central Mopti region that "put out of action" about 30 Islamist holy warriors.

Koufa, a radical preacher, was one of the top deputies to Iyad Ag Ghali, the leader of Mali's most prominent jihadi group, Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Moslemin (JNIM),
...umbrella organization of regional terrorist groups, including al-Qaeda in the Maghreb (AQIM) Sahara Emirate, al-Mourabitoun, and local groups Macina Liberation Front (MLF) and Ansar al-Din (AAD)...

Iran's Rouhani calls Israel a 'cancerous tumor'
[DAWN] Iran's President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday called Israel a "cancerous tumor" established by Western countries to advance their interests in the Middle East.
"Relative Moderate"
Iran's leaders frequently condemn Israel and predict its demise, but Rouhani, a relative moderate, rarely employs such rhetoric.

Addressing an annual Islamic Unity Conference on Saturday, Rouhani said "one of the ominous results of World War II was the formation of a cancerous tumor in the region".

He went on to refer to Israel as a "fake regime" set up by Western countries.

Iran supports bully boy groups like Hezbollah and Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, that are pledged to Israel's destruction.
Update from The Times of Israel at 1:15 pm ET:
EU says ‘totally unacceptable’ for Rouhani to call Israel a ‘cancer’

The European Union condemns Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s calling Israel a “cancer.”

“President Rouhani’s remarks bringing into question Israel’s legitimacy are totally unacceptable. They are also incompatible with the need to address international disputes through dialogue and international law,” a spokesperson for EU foreign policy czar Federica Mogherini says in a statement.

“The European Union reiterates its fundamental commitment to the security of Israel, including with regard to current and emerging threats in the region.”
So that’s all settled. Who’s up for coffee? Catering sent up those nice little pastries to go with it, too.

Experts Worried Nigeria May Overtake India As Number One in Open Defecation
[All Africa] "We go to the stream, we don't have water here, even toilets; we usually use the bush. A woman was bitten by a snake while defecating in the bush and another one was bitten when she went to pick firewood for cooking," Hannatu Peter, an internally displaced person at the New Gongola IDP camp in the Federal Capital Territory, said.

"We want the government to help us, especially on these toilet and water issues. Some women urinate anywhere and get infected; the majority of us are having infections and treating infections in hospitals is quite expensive."

Strange as the testimony may sound, this is a typical scenario in several communities, particularly in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps across Nigeria, as poor living conditions and the dearth of sanitation facilities are peculiar features of such neighbourhoods.

A major outcome of the lack of sanitation facilities is open defection which, according to experts, usually provokes the outbreak of waterborne diseases such as cholera and dysentery in such communities, particularly among the children.

According to Nigeria Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Poverty Diagnostics Report, the country's sanitation sector is in a critical condition.

The report shows that the economic growth of Nigeria, which has an estimated population of over 183 million, has not translated into rapid poverty reduction.

"Let there be no doubt in anyone's mind that we will crush the terrorists, whatever it takes," he had affirmed on Twitter soon after the attacks.

Suspected Islamic State gunmen kill nine in southern Libya - resident
[AlAhram] Gunmen on Friday raided a town deep in Libya's southern desert, killing nine people and kidnapping several others, a resident said, with officials blaming the attack on the bad boy group Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
A military source said the attackers had occupied a cop shoppe in the oasis town of Tazerbo, north of Kufra, until residents expelled them. The source also said the attackers were believed to belong to Islamic State.

The town - which was a resting point for tourists going on Sahara camping tours before Libya plunged into chaos in 2011 - listed six residents on its website as having been killed.

A resident said nine people had been killed and 10 maimed, adding that the attackers had kidnapped several coppers and civilians.

Islamic State has staged several attacks on southern towns since withdrawing into the desert after losing its main stronghold, the coastal city of Sirte, late in 2016.

It also taught us a lot about Hamas’s rival, Fatah, and the Paleostinian Authority it controls in Ramallah. Israel’s most urgent task is to understand the implications of what we now know.

The first thing we learned about Hamas is that its control over Gazoo is all encompassing.
