Gas stove manufacturers push back on talk of a ban
[NYPost] Appliance manufacturers hit back after a US government official suggested the feds are considering a ban on gas stoves over alleged safety hazards.

The Association for Home Appliance Manufacturers said there are "simple steps" consumers can take while they are cooking, such as opening a window, turning on a ceiling fan or using a range hood to mitigate any harmful emissions.

The trade group, whose members include big US manufacturers like Whirlpool and General Electric as well as overseas companies like Samsung and LG, also notes that gas stoves are more budget-friendly.

"For people who prefer gas, which is more affordable, the association wants to preserve consumer choice," AHAM spokesperson Jill Notini told The Post.

Gas stoves are "a hidden hazard," the commissioner of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Richard Trumka Jr., told Bloomberg on Monday. "Any option is on the table. Products that can’t be made safe can be banned."

Trumka dialed back his comments on Tuesday, suggesting that any new regulation would apply only to new appliances.

Studies have shown that gas stoves, which are used in 40% of US homes, emit pollutants including nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and particles at levels that are deemed unsafe by the Environmental Protection Agency and World Health Organization.

The issue has been studied for more than a decade and last year the CPSC formed a task force to make recommendations. The trade group, which is participating in the task force, said it’s too early in the process to talk about bans.

"It’s concerning that [the commissioner] made a statement that an entire category of products could be banned when they haven’t begun the formal process of data collection," Notini said, calling the commissioner’s remark "presumptuous" and "off the cuff."

AHAM expects any recommendations that will result from the task force to take at least a year. The first step in the process before making recommendations is to issue so-called "Request for Information" proposals, Notini said.

"That hasn’t happened yet," she said.

At the same time, the appliance industry makes alternatives to gas stoves, including induction appliances, which rely on magnetic forces to heat pots and pans.

#5  An "environmental" group did a "study" claiming gas cook stoves caused an increase in asthma in children, especially those of color. It was a very limited "study" that ignored a world-wide study of 500,000 children that showed no correlation. Who is going to pay for the conversion of gas to electric?

#8  Here’ the study Trumka touted. 53 homes, 53

We measured methane emissions from stoves in 53 homes in 7 California counties between January 2020 and May 2021 (Table S1). Our sample set included private homes, properties for sale or rent by real estate agents, and, because of the constraints of COVID-19, Airbnb rentals. We measured methane emissions from gas cooktops (18 unique brands) at all 53 homes and tested gas ovens and broilers in 40 and 31 homes, respectively. For stoves with information available, we found the ages of stoves ranged between 3 and 30 years. Cooktop burners ranged in heat output from 4500 to 25 000 British thermal units (BTU) h–1, and most oven burners ranged between 16 000 and 19 000 BTU h–1, as per product specifications.
We additionally measured NO, NO2, and NOx emissions from 32 cooktops and 24 ovens of the stoves tested for methane emissions (Table S1). The NO, NO2, and NOx emission rates are important because─coupled with circulation, ventilation, infiltration, and room size─they determine the concentration of NOx pollutants that build up in kitchens.

So all new gas ranges would be regulated so they aren't gas ranges?

I suggest we BAN Politicians.
"Any product which can be dangerous should be regulated"

I suppose that study used the EPA model, where they turned the range on low without igniting, and set the monitoring device up next to the stove, and waited 20 minutes.

Please understand their 'out of the gate' rhetoric was 'worse than second hand smoke'. It will not be just home ranges at some future date. Everything Natural Gas.

Armed diner who fatally shot robber in Houston restaurant heist will face grand jury
[NYPOST] A Texas grand jury will decide whether to criminally charge a Houston taqueria patron who shot a robber dead last week, police said.

The Houston Police Department announced Monday the 46-year-old customer has turned himself in and is cooperating with the investigation into the deadly shooting. He has not been named because he was not arrested or charged with any crime.

The heist took place inside the Ranchito #4 Taqueria around 11:30 p.m. last Thursday, when a suspect, identified as 30-year-old Eric Washington, entered the business, produced what appeared to be a gun and demanded that all patrons hand over their cash and wallets.

Chilling surveillance video from the eatery shows customers cowering under tables as the masked and gloved perp, dressed in all black, walks around grabbing their possessions.

As the suspect heads for the exit with his loot, the 46-year-old diner sitting in a booth stands up, pulls out a handgun and opens fire on the robber, causing him to collapse.

Then, while standing directly over the maimed intruder, the customer shoots him again at point-blank range, as seen in the video.

The armed good Samaritan then collected the stolen money and belongings from Washington and returned them to their owners before fleeing the taqueria.

Washington was pronounced dead at the scene. Police later determined that the gun in his possession was not real.

After police issued a public plea asking the armed customer to come forward so they could interview him about the shooting, his attorney released a statement to the station ABC 13 defending his actions.

"In fear of his life and his friend’s life my client acted to protect everyone in the restaurant," the attorney wrote, stressing that in Texas, "a shooting is justified in self-defense, defense of others and in defense of property."

The unidentified diner has since met with prosecutors from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and with police homicide detectives.

Once the investigation is complete, the case will be presented to a grand jury, and the man’s attorney said they are "confident the Grand Jury will conclude that the shooting was justified under Texas Law."

The lawyer described the incident as "traumatic" to his client, and noted that "taking a human life is something he does not take lightly and will burden him for the rest of his life."

Records indicate that the robbery suspect, Eric Washington, had an extensive criminal history and was out on bond at the time of the fatal shooting.

In 2015, Washington was convicted of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and sentenced to 15 years in prison in connection with the fatal shooting of 62-year-old Hamid Waraich two years prior.

Washington was released on parole in 2021 after serving less than half of his sentence, but he was back behind bars in mid-December after being arrested for allegedly shoving and scratching his girlfriend.

Washington was charged in that incident with misdemeanor family violence and was subsequently released on a personal recognizance bond.

"Eric was an evil criminal that took joy in harassing and robbing innocent families," Waraich’s son Sean Waraich told the station. "The individual at the taqueria is a true hero."
The hero customer who shot and killed an armed robber at a Houston taco joint last week has been ordered to face a grand jury by District Attorney Kim Ogg, the Soros-funded prosecutor who appears to have let the career criminal he put down out on bond.

The thug he shot was a career criminal who should have been locked up in prison, KTRK reports:

On Monday, the medical examiner identified 30-year-old Eric Eugene Washington as the robbery suspect who was killed.

Records show Washington had an extensive criminal history and was out on bond during the would-be robbery.

Our hero never would have even been put in this position if Kim Ogg actually locked criminals up rather than kneel before them.

This is a clear-cut case of self-defense but you never know how a jury will rule in the Black Lives Matter era.

#4  Never really dealing with career criminals is a strategy and one that has nothing to do with empathy. It degrades the fabric of social cohesion in what until quite recently was a high trust society.

The other side of that rancid coin is heavily prosecuting self defense, preferably in high profile show trials. That in turn discourages self reliance.

It's not an accident, it's not those 'crazy, egghead liberals', at this point on the curve it is more evidence of destruction from within since we have not been destroyed by external forces.

Private citizens being held to a different standard of self defense is bullshit. If there is to be a double standard at all it should be reversed. But I agree they will prosecute on the last shots fired. Remember kids, keep firing until the enemy changes shapes or catches on fire.

Special counsel to look into Biden's handling of classified files
[BBC] US Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed a special counsel to probe President Joe Biden's handling of classified documents.
Joe Biden garage SCIF photo
Robert Hur, a former senior justice department official during the Trump presidency, will lead the investigation.

Classified files were recently found in Mr Biden's home and at an office he used after his term as vice-president.

The US justice department is also conducting a review.

Sources familiar with the case who spoke with CBS, the BBC's US partner, said the justice department review included interviews with multiple witnesses who may have knowledge of how the classified documents were handled.

White House lawyer Richard Sauber said the president is fully cooperating with the Department of Justice to ensure the files are stored properly by the US National Archives.

The discovery of the documents have been called a political embarrassment for Mr Biden, as it comes during an ongoing investigation into former President Donald Trump's own alleged mishandling of classified files.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday morning, Mr Biden said that his lawyers immediately notified officials when the first batch of files were discovered at the Penn Biden Center in November.

Mr Biden added the additional documents found were locked in a garage next to his 1960s Chevrolet Corvette sports car, "not sitting out in the street".

"People know I take classified material seriously," he said.

Mr Biden said his lawyers reviewed other places where documents were stored from his time as vice-president, between 2009 and 2017, after the first files were found, and that review was completed on Wednesday evening.

"The lawyers arranged for the Department of Justice to take possession of the documents," he said.

Mr Sauber said in a statement that the additional search uncovered "among personal and political papers a small number of additional Obama-Biden Administration records with classified markings".

All but one of the documents were found in a storage space inside the garage of Mr Biden's Wilmington, Delaware home, he said.

"One document consisting of one page was discovered among stored materials in an adjacent room," Mr Sauber added. Lawyers also searched Mr Biden's Rehoboth Beach home, but found no additional files.

#1  The SCIF Classified Document Custodian has to have on file a DA Form 3964 (or Agency Equivalent) for every classified document provided for use by cleared personnel. The document records the responsible party for receipt, and is used to certify destruction. Right now there are some very busy people working to determine the originating facility, hand receipt holder, and who recorded its destruction, since it ended up out of a controlled storage facility.

Biden is going to assert ignorance, confusion on how these documents ended up in inappropriate storage conditions, essentially the dog ate my homework defense, but the audit trail is going to find someone holding the bag. At that point, they confess to a crime, or implicate Jojo. Expect vast amounts of smoke and mirrors to be generated as the truth approaches!

Given, we all have access to the Internet and can look up our Congressional Rep's. email boxes. We should be asking what are their plans in addressing this MORE serious violation of National Security.

Also asking, will Biden and his staff be subjected to the same level of review, justice & treatment that Trump received?

Because, as a VP, Biden did not have the authority to store Classified Materials offsite (eg. Whitehouse, Site R, and etc.)
.
Wider Question: Will Obama, Nancy and other political elites be asked to submit to the same review as Trump?

On the other hand there seems to be no excuse for the documents to be there, the ‘immediate’ cooperation conveniently waited until after the midterms, and the situation does give his puppet masters some more strong strings…

#7  Biden has already announced. I don’t think this is the method that his handlers will use to jettison him, because it exonerates Trump. They are just incompetent. In any planning session they had for the Mar-A-Lago gambit, they should have pulled back all the Biden stashes on the DL. When you have a team that doesn’t ascertain whether there is evidence that you are guilty of the same thing, you have assembled a dumb team doomed to failure.

#9  Biden is going to assert ignorance, confusion on how these documents ended up in inappropriate storage conditions, essentially the dog ate my homework defense, but the audit trail is going to find someone holding the bag.

Definitely confused. Just listen to him stuttering and stammering his way through this exchange with Peter Doocy.

Man in Panties Makes Appearance in Arizona Dem's Government Video Call
[WFB h/t Insty] A man wearing women's underwear appeared in an Arizona Democrat's video call into a county board meeting, the Daily Caller reported Tuesday.

Matt Heinz was the only member of Pima County's Board of Supervisors not to show up in person at a Tuesday meeting, instead appearing via Zoom call. Heinz wasn't the only person in his video, though: A man dressed in panties showed up in the background, causing Heinz to rush to shut off his feed.
Not that there's anything wrong with that...WTF is going on in AZ?

Declaration of North America (DNA)
[WhiteHouse.gov] Today, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, President Joseph R. Biden, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met in Mexico City for the 10th North American Leaders’ Summit (NALS). The leaders are determined to fortify our region’s security, prosperity, sustainability and inclusiveness through commitments across six pillars: 1) diversity, equity, and inclusion; 2) climate change and the environment; 3) competitiveness; 4) migration and development; 5) health; and 6) regional security.

North America shares a unique history and culture that emphasizes innovation, equitable development, and mutually beneficial trade to create inclusive economic opportunities for the benefit of our people. We are not just neighbors and partners. Our people share bonds of family and friendship and value — above all else — freedom, justice, human rights, equality, and democracy. This is the North American DNA.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

#8  It is WEF doctrine that will be implemented by treaty which is an end run around the House. Mitch will assign a sufficient number of sacrificial lackeys to push this through. Top Republican writes to Treasury Secretary demanding information about Biden family's suspicious business deals and asks Twitter executives to testify next month on suppression of the Hunter laptop story
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • James Comer (R-KY), chair of the House Oversight Committee, requested to see the Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) that were flagged by U.S. banks regarding the financial activity of the Bidens

  • Comer's committee is probing the president's knowledge and role in the financial activity and 'whether he has compromised our national security'

  • The Kentucky Republican also sent letters to former Twitter execs Vijaya Gadde, who served as chief legal officer, Yoel Roth, former global head of trust & safety, and James Baker, former general counsel, informing them they were requested to testify on Feb 6

  • 'Your attendance is necessary because of your role in suppressing Americans' access to information about the Biden family on Twitter shortly before the 2020 election,' Comer wrote
Last month with the takeover of Elon Musk came the 'Twitter Files' which revealed how a group of top executives at Twitter came to the decision to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story first reported by the New York Post.

Comer's letters follow Tuesday when the Oversight Committee launched a pair of investigations into President Biden's handling of classified files that were found at his think tank office just before the midterms.

Given her long history of Liberal President associations.

President Bill Clinton - Council of Economic Advisers from 1997 to 1999.

President Barack Obama - as vice chair of the Federal Reserve from 2010 to 2014

Then President Donald Trump replaced her in 2016

So, does anyone else, see a problem with the fact the Treasury Sec. Janet Yellen would investigating Biden. Who appointed her and also has her serving as a White House Council of Economic Adviser?

#4  I don’t think the career Clinton-Obama team members will fold or resign. I would display Janet Reno as an example, but only if there was hand sanitizer available. Being mean to Yellen won’t probably make a difference as she probably worked with Hillary on a daily basis at some point. Buttigieg may bolt, but that is a scalp of the value of a gum ball machine toy being resold at a Goodwill. The hard ones will circumvent FOIA requests and subpoenas. They will ignore censures and impeachments because they know Mitch has their back, another Kentucky Republican.
