[PJ] Old Joe Biden’s new check-the-woke-boxes press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, is a Democrat, and so it comes as no great surprise that she sees racism absolutely everywhere, and I do mean everywhere: the New York Post reported Saturday that it "looked at Jean-Pierre’s tweets between 2015 and 2020 and found a staggering 57 instances where she accused people, policies, ideas, or words of being ’racist.’ Also, Jean-Pierre accused people and ideas she was opposed to as ’racist’ at least 43 times in TV appearances too." That makes an even 100 accusations of racism or twenty per year; among Democrats today, that makes Jean-Pierre a moderate.
Jean-Pierre’s chief target, of course, was Donald Trump. Jean-Pierre tweeted in February 2019: "Yes, Donald Trump has been a racist his entire adult life. And, people still voted for him." The new press secretary no doubt believes that people still voted for the allegedly racist Trump because of "systemic racism" in the United States, for she is also an enthusiastic proponent of critical race theory.
As far as Jean-Pierre is concerned, Trump’s racism is an active menace. "Donald Trump’s racist rhetoric is dangerous," Jean-Pierre tweeted in July 2019 in response to a tweet from Obama aide Valerie Jarrett that said: "Not only is @IlhanMN a duly elected member of Congress, and an American citizen, but she is also a mom. What kind of person would put her and her family in harms [sic] way?" Jarrett was contending that Trump had put Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Mogadishu) in harm’s way by criticizing her, in a manifestation of the increasingly common Leftist tendency to equate any speech criticizing Leftists with violence (as a prelude to and justification for silencing such criticism altogether).
Trump also never mentioned Omar’s race in anything he said about her, but for Jean-Pierre, his criticism was nonetheless "racist," because essentially any criticism of a "person of color" is taken on the Left as "racism" except for criticism of non-Leftists such as Clarence Thomas and Candace Owens; criticism of black conservatives is neither racist nor incitement but a necessary expression of the prophetic voice of the marginalized. Are you getting the rules down now?
Jean-Pierre even claimed on MSNBC’s "AM Joy" in 2018, without bothering to produce a shred of evidence, that Trump was open about his racism and proud of it: "If it walks like a racist, talks like a racist, acts like a racist, it is a racist and we have a racist president in the White House who really pushes his racism like a peacock." In January 2020, she repeated this, tweeting: "Donald Trump is the most outwardly racist President that we have seen in generations and African Americans voters aren’t blind to that. He uses his megaphone to divide people, spew racism, and give cover to white supremacists." In 2016, Trump won six percent of the black vote; in 2020, this increased to eight percent.
[TaibbiSubstack] The Activision Case, and the beginning of Tesla. Taking a strategy imported from the Department of Labor, the DFEH launches a series of media-centric cases
The failure of the federal case against Oracle had wide-ranging repercussions. For one thing, the firm moved its headquarters out of Redwood City to Austin, Texas within months of the judge’s decision. Oracle announced a move in the same week as Tesla, which was destined to be targeted by some of the same lawyers who’d worked the Oracle case. CEO Elon Musk told the Wall Street Journal that California regulators had begun behaving like a “monopoly that cannot go bankrupt,” preaching a religion that “regulations are immortal,” while adding the following acid commentary:
If a team has been winning for too long, they do tend to get a little complacent, a little entitled and then they don’t win the championship anymore. California has been winning for too long.
State officials responded to the departures of Oracle, Tesla, and other companies like Hewlett-Packard by claiming that a combination of irrational resistance to the state’s strict COVID-19 laws and a reluctance by coddled white male executives to diversify was causing the exodus.
Eric Mellon, a spokesman for Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, told The Washington Post that California’s success was “not despite our progressive policies, but because of them… These are California’s fundamental values, and we’ll continue creating more jobs than any other state.”
Newsom then nervously insisted there was nothing to worry about. He pointed to a new law offering restaurants and other small businesses more flexibility in expanding outdoor dining — “eat your heart out, Paris,” he quipped — and reassured citizens the Silicon Valley departures were no big deal. “Our best days are in front of us,” the governor said.
“The ironic thing is, he was about six months from becoming a target of all this himself,” laughs one lawyer, referring to a state case that would soon far eclipse Oracle for sheer bile and bitterness.
“There’s ugly,” he added, “and then there’s Activision ugly.”
Way back on February 18th, 2018, Fortune magazine released its annual list of “100 Best Companies to Work For.” Game giant Activision Blizzard made the list for the fourth straight year, with a Fortune survey claiming 95 percent of its employees said it was a “fun place to work.” The firm’s PR department giddily noted it also made the “Most Admired” and “Most Innovative” lists the year before. Coupled with $7 billion in revenues, the news sent their share price skyrocketing to an all-time high of $78.25, as executives appeared to have reached gamer nirvana. Read the rest at the link

Update: See here for the report on the spree killing in Buffalo.
[ColonelCassad] How ironic.
The US is supplying weapons to Black Sun characters in Ukraine.
A character with the emblem of the "Black Sun" shot 10 people in a supermarket in Buffalo, New York.
The character is detained. Most of the victims are blacks.
In the video, 18-year-old Peyton Gendron (nickname "jimboboiii") gets out of the car and immediately opens fire on passers-by, after which he heads to the store, where he kills several more people with a headshot - all of his victims are predominantly African American. At the end of the video, the shooter points his weapon at the man under the counter, but then spares him by saying "sorry".
Gendron was detained by the police - he turned out to be an ideological Nazi. A weapon with Nazi inscriptions was confiscated from him - in particular, it had runes on it, as well as the names of the terrorists Anders Breivik, who killed 77 people in Oslo in 2011, and John Ernest. By the way, on the clothes of the criminal in the photographs from social networks, the emblem of the “black sun” flaunts, which is used, among other things, by the Nazis from Azov.

Flashback (2019): Jewish veteran and US Congressman Max Rose plus 39 other House Democrats call on the US State Department to designate three European neo-Nazi groups as terrorist organizations.
The letter urged regulators to list Ukraine’s Azov Battalion, Britain’s National Action and Scandinavia’s Nordic Resistance Movement on the State Deparment’s list of Foreign Terror Organizations. This would give security officials more tools to monitor and potentially prosecute Americans who correspond or train with those organizations.

Kind of peculiar that a website devoted to The War on Terror ignores (or tries to make jokes about) the role that Ukrainian Nazi organizations have played in inspiring and training terrorists across Europe, the US and Asia.
"The infamous March 2019 attack on a mosque that killed 50 Muslims and wounded 49 in Christchurch, New Zealand also had a UNUT [ie, Azov] connection. The manifesto of the attack’s perpetrator, Brenton Tarrant, states he had trained with the Azov Battalion. He also often wore the neo-Nazi emblem, the altered German Nazi ‘Wolfsangel’ that is Azov’s own emblem.[67]
"In the wake of the attack an unidentified, encrypted site of a Ukrainian neofascist organization was reported to be selling the 87-page manifesto in hardcover, over which New Zealand protested, having banned its publication and dissemination in New Zealand.[68]"
Summary:
"UNUT [Azov] is rapidly becoming an international terrorist threat. It threatens not only democratization and stability of the regime in Kiev. The growing international network of ties with other ultranationalist, neofascist, and white supremacist groups threatens to bolster the international ultranationalist, neofascist and white supremacist movements and perhaps even radicalize it. As we have seen, the Ukrainian and Russian hub of the movements whipped up by the Donbass civil war has in turn energized the larger movement, producing plots and violence here in the U.S. as the California and Kansas arrests demonstrate."

Along those lines, I tell people that if the folks who screech 'NAZI!!!!' at every opportunity ever actually met an honest-to-Adolf, mid-30s Stormtrooper, or a member of SS Das Reich in, say, 1944, they would shiat themselves and run screaming for the nearest cop or American military member.

*Snicker* Why do Russians and and those who love Russia insist this is a uniquely Ukrainian issue, when Russia has been involved in such things up to her swanlike neck?
[Deutsche Welle] German right-wing extremists are receiving paramilitary training in St. Petersburg, Russia, according to a new report by news magazine Focus. Who is running the training, and what do we know about the participants?
What kind of camp did right-wing extremists reportedly visit in Russia?
Participating in paramilitary training is legal in Russia. Such training takes place under the protective umbrella of DOSAAF (Volunteer Society for Cooperation with the Army, Aviation, and Navy), an organization whose founding dates back to the days of the Soviet Union. The actual training, in which Germans reportedly participated, is provided by a club appearing under two different names: "Rezerv" or "Partizan." It takes place at a military facility on the outskirts of St. Petersburg. Until 2018, "Partizan" and its members were listed on the website of St. Petersburg's municipal office as a vigilante group in the Vyborg district. "That was prior to my taking office," a district representative told DW when asked about the matter.
Talking to local journalists in 2017, one of the organizers of the paramilitary camp confirmed that the center also provided paramilitary training for foreigners, "including Germans." Today, the center advertises both offline and online courses, including classes on handling weapons and on "military topography" — in June 2020 alone, it offers six different classes, bookable via the Russian social network Vkontakte.
Right-wing populists in Russia
Russia in the past has served as a meeting point for right-wing populists and radicals from around Europe. In 2015, St. Petersburg hosted the "International Russian Conservative Forum." Participants included the former chairman of the German extreme-right National Democratic Party (NPD), Udo Voigt, as well as representatives from Italy's extreme-right Forza Nuova party, Greece's neo-fascist Golden Dawn party and Italy's far-right League (Lega) party.
Lots more at the link, including discussion of the Russian Imperial Movement.

Why do Russians and and those who love Russia insist this is a uniquely Ukrainian issue
Stop lying. Start reading. No one says Russia doesn't have fascists. Again, here's what I posted, above:
"As we have seen, the Ukrainian and Russian hub of the movements whipped up by the Donbass civil war has in turn energized the larger movement, producing plots and violence here in the U.S. as the California and Kansas arrests demonstrate."
#19
Since you're so obsessed with Russia, if it helps you to see more clearly I don't care for either side. It's a nasty civil war with brutal terrorists on both sides. We should definitely not be intervening and enabling one side's violent fascists.
#20
rl;dr. Rantburg looks at the big picture, where it can be seen that Ukrainian neo-nazis and Russian neo-nazis are comrades in arms speaking dialects of the same root language.
This makes current anti-Ukraine screeching on this subject a particularly tiresome variety of Russian propaganda.
I pointed out the known documented link between one of our (western) fascist mass murderers, Brandon Tarrant, and an organization that Biden is insisting we fund with $60 billion of our money! And you're talking about the other side in this war. Redirect much?
#24
As badanov has repeatedly pointed out, dear Grim Wheaper3336, based on his experience reporting on the first round in the Donbas in 2014-15, neither side can claim to be angels.
The international white supremacist movement, sometimes called neo-nazis, sometimes other names, is full of cross fertilizations. It doesn’t matter which particular branch any given individual is connected to, just as it doesn’t really matter whether a Muslim spree killer was inspired by videos posted by ISIS, Al Qaeda, Hizb’ut Tahrir, or a member of the Muslim Brotherhood — the various groups trade the things like baseball cards, and their self-radicalized fans in both cases drink from all the firehoses.
This is why, as soon as we knew that Mr. Tarrant was a racist, the exact provenance did not trigger excitement.

"funding fascists over there and ginning up a domestic terrorist threat over here" pretty well summarizes how completely fokked up this Administration is. What was it Obama liked to say about 'counting on Joe Biden'?
#27
Biden's (and evidently your) logic is, "We're fighting funding fascists over there and ginning up a domestic terrorist threat over here."
A straw man, since I never thought or said anything like that.
Domestically we have a sociological problem of Critical Race Theory afficianados teaching white children that they are automatically and unchangeably racists, and feminists teaching boys that they are automatically and unchangeably sexist. It’s not surprising that some of them decide to make those identities into a positive instead of a negative, and that some of them decide to act on it, which is independent of my opinion of their ignorant stupidity. This is compounded in certain cities and states by prosecutors refusing to prosecute crimes by protected classes, creating an anything goes atmosphere until there is a predictable response, predictably with the broken and the mentally ill in the vanguard, just as so many among the Black Block cannon fodder have severe anxiety and depression issues, in many cases expressed by body dysmorphia.
Entirely separately, President Putin has been pursuing the reestablishment of the Soviet Union via economic pressure and military means for the past two decades. I think it’s stupid to create an unstable empire rife with resentment and revolt in this way when they could more easily have increased the attraction via trade and special relationships instead. My disapproval of President Biden in general and his administration’s habit of throwing huge sums of money at Iran, the Palestinians, Ukraine, and any other country or cause that might weaken America’s prestige and effectiveness at home and abroad has nothing to do with the specifics of the discussion here.

You and us both, mate. These sick fucks are trying to distract us from their own failures. Like Carlson says, they're just making us poorer so they can control us even more.
If this asinine war were debated openly and honestly and put to a vote of the people in America and Britain, nobody outside Washington or Westminster would vote for it.

Give it a rest on the death head symbol, it dates back to the period of Fredrick the Great (100+ years before anyone conceived of socialism) worn by hussars among others. It would also appear on the shakos of the Brunswick hussars that fought with the Anglo Allies at Waterloo. However, don't let historical facts cloud your hate. We have people here that play that same game.

A photo from the opposite side - a foreign agent of Radio Liberty, which perfectly characterizes whose Snake
So that no one doubts whose island, which unsuccessfully and with heavy losses tried to storm the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian military put a large letter Z on the island. They mock the American tracking system. The picture was taken by the Maxar satellite.
In the meantime, launchers of the Tor-M2 air defense system are being transferred by landing ships. The Pantsir installations were also deployed there to provide air defense. Landing boats and other ships are actively used to deliver ammunition, ammunition, equipment, primarily radar stations and reconnaissance equipment.
From this island, the southwestern regions of Ukraine, the territory of Moldova and Romania are controlled by means of electronic intelligence. In particular, the airfield network from which the surviving Ukrainian aircraft take off. We cannot beat them on the territory of Romania or Moldova, but when they enter the airspace of Ukraine...
Hence the constantly growing statistics.
During the three days of attacks on the island before May 9, three Ukrainian assault boats "Centaur" with amphibious assault on board were destroyed; 14 Ukrainian planes and helicopters (some of them on the ground at the airport near Odessa), 30 military drones, nine of them are Bayraktar-TB2 attack drones.
In the modern information war, it is not enough to state dry facts and statistical data; the emphasis must be placed on the logic of the development of consistent actions based on success. Haste and formalism in this matter only harm. The defeat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Zmeiny was twisted for only a couple of days, then everything died out, because they issued a topic on an accelerated program.
Although, it was possible to first state a fact in order to attract attention, explain the value of this piece of land, then the efforts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in an attempt to recapture it, unleash the unjustified losses of the enemy, then talk about the actions of our forces, reinforcing with specific examples of participants.
Well, to sum up, that all this was a deeply thought-out trap for the military-political elite of Ukraine and its curators. And all this had to develop for at least a week. See the link for photos

How old is this propaganda piece? I recall seeing recent pictures of the destruction of Russian landing craft and equipment on it, and bomb/ missile impacts on the Russian occupation forces on that island.
The battles are getting insane. The other day the Russians lost everything and every one on Snake Island 7 times and reoccupied and equipped each time. So 8 separate sets of troops and equipment in one day.
Snake Island also controls access to known unexploited oil and gas fields in the NW Black Sea.
No buildings remain on the island.

Boy, howdy, those Ruskis sure can be proud of how they throw the lives of their soldiers in the trash!
Ever read the war memoirs of Oto Carius? Once he was transferred to the western front he did nothing but whine about how Americans can't fight. He thought they should line up in front of his guns and die in large numbers, like the Russians, until he was forced to withdraw. Instead the stupid Americans would bypass his position or bring down artillery or air strikes! How DARE we value our soldiers more than our ammunition!

Fun! Nobody expects Americans to understand those funny words foreigners speak, so there’s innocent amusement to be found in speaking one of the uncommon ones like Ukrainian.
Part of the reason trailing daughter #2 studied Japanese was for the advantage it would give her in business meetings later, and so it has. We discovered this in reverse long ago, when it was brought to our attention that in Cincinnati there are enough German speakers that one will inevitably be nearby when one of the tds made a childish observation about the people around us at the grocery store in that language.
Those losses are nothing new for the Russian Army in modern times. They will send troops to a meat grinder until resistance ends.
That was all very well when Russia/the Soviet Union had a huge army with a large number of youths growing up to replace the fallen, and ditto for supplies. When supplies and soldiers are limited, replacing the fallen and the destroyed becomes the limiting factor.
Granted that the Ukraine has a similar manpower replacement issue, so should I understand this as a question of who last runs out of meat for the grinder?

My father pulled the same thing about German, Rob — it was one of the two languages my parents had in common, the other being English. And though he saw to it that we all were taught Hebrew — first private tutors, then afternoon Hebrew school — he never used that to converse with us, though he did with the Israelis on the Hebrew school staff. Daddy was a typical math/science type: languages are for efficient communication, not for enjoying or improving. He was pleased that we and the trailing daughters became fluent German speakers over there, though he thought moving to Germany a bad idea. Unforgiving type, my father, but then he was among other things Israeli, not German.

I had a friend in college who taught himself enough Russian in two weeks to converse with a visiting Russian mathematician. He used to berate me for seeing language as anything more than a tool.

A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
