Video shows gangster's girlfriend pulled knife from bag and stabbed NYC bodega worker, 61, as he defended himself in dispute over $3: Fury as store worker is charged with murder for stabbing assailant while woman walks away scot free
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Jose Alba stabbed Austin Simon to death on July 1 in a row over a bag of chips

  • Simon's girlfriend's card was declined as she tried to pay for the snacks

  • Alba, 61, refused to let her have the chips for free and she called Simon for back-up

  • Simon, who was on parole for attacking a cop at the time, charged into the bodega and went behind the counter

  • He confronted Alba, demanding an apology, then dragged him out

  • Alba then used the store's boxcutter to stab him in the neck and the chest

  • Simon's girlfriend produced her own knife and slashed Alba in the arm

  • She hasn't been charged but Alba was charged with 2nd degree murder

  • His bond was lowered last week following public outcry over the woke DA's decision to prosecute him

  • Jose Alba is from the Dominican Republic and became a US citizen 14 years ago

Five shot at Coney Island boardwalk, one in critical condition: NYPD
[NYPOST] Five people were shot on the boardwalk in Coney Island early Sunday, including a 31-year-old man who was in critical condition after he was shot in the back, cops said.

The victims were among eight people shot in the city in the early morning hours, including a woman who appeared to be an innocent bystander, cops said.

The bullets flew at the Boardwalk and West 21st Street where a “large group” of people were gathering around 2 a.m., a police spokeswoman said.

Two women – a 27-year-old and 26-year-old – were both shot in the left leg and taken to Lutheran Hospital. A 36-year-old man was shot in the chin and taken to the same hospital in stable condition.

A 31-year-old man was shot in the back and a 19-year-old man was shot in the leg. They both took private means to NYU Langone Hospital, where the older man was in critical condition.

Jeffrey Fields sentenced in rapes of 4 Penn State students
[NYPOST] A Pennsylvania man described by a prosecutor as a “very sophisticated rapist,” and who was convicted in attacks on four Penn State students, was sentenced to 29 1/2 to 61 years in prison.

Jeffrey Fields, 38, of Port Matilda received the sentence in Centre County, Pa on Friday.

He pleaded guilty in March to all but two of the charges filed against him, including felony counts of rape and sexual assault. The attacks took place between 2010 and 2017 and he was arrested in 2020.

The victims were chosen at random and were either 19 or 20 years old, the Centre Daily reported.

One victim said in a statement to the judge that Fields had “changed my life completely. He changed who I am at my core.”

Fields spoke for nearly 20 minutes at the sentencing, calling his crimes “unspeakable.”

“I regret everything I’ve done. You did not deserve to go through this. I am so sorry,” he said, later adding “If I could go back in time and change everything, I would.”

The father of one victim said he lives in a “constant state of anger,” and no sentence would be tough enough.

“This man is the embodiment of evil,” he wrote. “May God forgive me, but I have no room in my heart for forgiveness or mercy. May he burn in hell.”

Chicago's 4th of July weekend death toll surpassed the Highland Park shooting. 'I thought there would be more outcry,' mother says
[CNN] Angela Gregg’s 4-year-old son, Mychal Moultry Jr., known to loved ones as MJ, was killed by a stray bullet while getting his hair braided last year during Labor Day weekend in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
’s South Side neighborhood Woodlawn.

She remembers him as a genius who was set to skip ahead to kindergarten after just two weeks of pre-school. He was full of life and didn’t call her "Mom" or "Mommy" but "Happy."

Gregg recalls having to move mountains to get any public and media attention on his case. Like many people, she was horrified by what happened in Highland Park, Illinois, on Monday, but she couldn’t help but notice the difference in reaction to the tragedy that shattered her world. MJ was Gregg’s only child, and in the 10 months since his death, no one is in jug for the boy’s homicide and the investigation remains open.

But she was not surprised by the attention and support Highland Park received because it’s a predominantly White Chicago suburb, she says. Gun violence is so normalized in Chicago’s South and West sides, that it doesn’t receive the same concern, she says.

"I thought there would be more outcry for a 4-year-old whose life was taken away, and I just didn’t see that," Gregg says. "We see it all the time, the difference in how Black and Brown children are treated."
The difference in a Democrat-controlled city, anyway.

Horrifying moment woman, 48, pours gasoline over man and sets him on FIRE after an argument in California park
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] An observation: In the video at the link it appears Ms Castillo tried half a dozen times to light him up before it worked... and the entire time her victim just stood there instead of attacking her or running away.
A question: How many of the parties involved were either mentally ill or frequent flyers through the justice system?
  • Patricia Castillo, 48, is accused of setting the man on fire on Thrusday night in Sanger, near Fresno, about 9pm

  • She was arrested together with her 43-year-old accomplice, Leonard Hawkins, who is accused of providing her with the gasoline

  • Surveillance footage shows Castillowalking up to the victim and throwing gasoline on him before sparking a lighter and setting the man alight

  • Hawkins is accused by police of supplying Castillo with the gasoline

  • Pair were arrested and booked for attempted murder, arson and conspiracy

But at 52 this year, going hand to hand isn't my first choice. Better to choose distance and a gun over knife/club.

#5  The headline makes it sound random, yet they had a container of gas ready to go. Not lighter fluid which might make sense in a park with BBQ but gas. That sounds pre-meditated. #2  ...It's hard to escape the conclusion that Oberlin's endgame is simply hoping that a miracle of some kind will happen, and this will all just somehow go away. I've also heard that the school may be dragging this out in the hopes that the Gibsons will simply have the decency to quit - but the money is high enough now, and the eventual outcome sure enough, that the plaintiff's attorneys aren't going to give in. In the end, the Gibsons may end up seeing a little bit less than half of that $40M, but it doesn't matter to them.

It's my understanding that they can't use their endowment, because alumni have made it quite clear that to do so will mean the end of any further donations. The college's insurance will pay it (or more likely, a chunk but not ALL) but after that, they well may be dropped, and rotsa ruck finding anybody who will pick them up after this.

The utter and complete disconnect between the school and the community that has existed for easily the last sixty-five years or so is also coming home to roost. The school and students have nothing but contempt for the community, and the community is quite tired of being considered as illiterate racist rednecks who exist mostly to be doormats for the elitist clowns who teach, administrate, and attend. The Gibsons are getting pretty much 100% support, and the school has almost none.

#4  I grew up in a southwestern (Oklahoma) small town that had a state 'land grant' university. At one period it charged the same tuition for 'Out of state" students so there was an influx of 'damn Yankee' middle class students sent there because it was cheaper. #8  Lena Dunham - Famous Oberlin Alumni™:
While a student at Oberlin College, Dunham produced several independent short films and uploaded them to YouTube. Many of her early films dealt with themes of sexual enlightenment and were produced in a mumblecore filmmaking style, a dialog-heavy style in which young people talk about their personal relationships. In 2006, she produced Pressure, in which a girl and two friends talk about experiencing an orgasm for the first time, which makes Dunham's character feel pressured to do so as well.[34][35] "I didn't go to film school", Dunham explains. "Instead I went to liberal arts school and self-imposed a curriculum of creating tiny flawed video sketches, brief meditations on comic conundrums, and slapping them on the Internet."[36]
Dunham on the set of her web series Delusional Downtown Divas

Another early film, entitled The Fountain, which depicted her in a bikini brushing her teeth in the public fountain at Oberlin College, went viral on YouTube.[37][38] "Her blithe willingness to disrobe without shame caused an outburst of censure from viewers," observed The New Yorker's Rebecca Mead.[18] Dunham was shocked by the backlash and decided to take the video down:

There were just pages of YouTube comments about how fat I was, or how not fat I was," Dunham said. "I didn't want you to Google me and the first thing you see is a debate about whether my breasts are misshapen."[18]

#15  the court judgement was $31.6M

the interest currently is over $4M.

more interest piles up each day.

Currently Oberlin has appealed to the Ohio Supreme Court. If the court refuses to hear the appeal, which is likely, Oberlin will have to pay up.

#16  Just end this. File a lien or several, get the sheriff to seize the college an all of its bank accounts, including the endowment funds. Pay off all judgements, interests, legal fees and sheriff expenses, among other costs. Then put the property up for sheriff sale.

This is not the time to be a nice guy, but be ruthless in collecting whats due!

Oberlin College brought this on themselves, there's no excuse period!

Pro-Abortion Group Threatens Southern States with ‘Floating Abortion Clinic' in Gulf of Mexico
[Breitbart] In 2019, Alabama passed the nation’s strictest anti-abortion prohibition into law, offering no exceptions beyond a pregnancy that threatens the mother’s life.

Immediately after Gov. Kay Ivey (R-AL) signed the bill, U.S. Middle District of Alabama Judge Myron Thompson ruled the law could not go into effect based on Supreme Court precedents that forbid bans before fetal viability. However, following the release of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, Thompson lifted the injunction, and the ban is now law.

A San Francisco-based pro-abortion activist group, known as PRROWESS, or Protecting Reproductive Rights of Women Endangered by State Statutes, seeks to offer an end-around Alabama state law and other nearby states with abortion bans by offering election abortion services offshore in the Gulf of Mexico in international waters.

PRROWESS’s Dr. Meg Autry, an abortion provider in San Francisco who describes the procedure as her "life’s work," told NBC Bay Area she seeks to raise about $20 million for a floating abortion clinic.

#4  Let Dr. Meg raise the cash from her fellow travelers and begin the purchase and/or build.

She'll discover what folks in the real world know as cost overruns, but the original $20M will still be removed from her money-stream for other purposes.

If she then tries to renege, she'll also gain experience regarding contracts.

OK lets see ....
12+ miles out to avoid Federal and State jurisdiction, control authority and US/State laws.

So who issues the Medical & Boat accreditations and Insurance coverages for the Abortion ship operating in international waters?

What about the aborted babies, will they feed the sharks or pollute the Gulf of Mexico? Because returning to port with the evidence of a crime will get them arrested.

I guess exporting dead baby body parts to make certain stem cell items for the rich/elite and $500 a bottle skin creams will have some rich vain types be effected also.

Transportation costs estimated to be a round $1,500 due to Diesel fuel shortages & price in addition to the infanticide costs.

Why not just head to Mexico?
OH! that's right, darn Mexico has stringent "Anti-Infanticide" laws, because they support life and responsibility.

Well, then take a bus to a state that allows infanticide to XX weeks or to Canada? Canada is a good Liberal/Socialist run country, it welcomes Infanticide and practically has no restrictions at all.

But here is a real working solution

Fighter jet blows off USS Truman during bad weather
[washingtonexaminer]A U.S. Navy fighter jet assigned to an aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean Sea blew off the deck on Friday during bad weather, the military branch announced on Sunday.

An F/A-18 Super Hornet went overboard on the USS Harry S. Truman during "unexpected heavy weather," the Navy said in a statement.

One sailor who received minor injuries during the bad weather is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery, the Navy said, adding that all other personnel aboard have been accounted for. The aircraft carrier was conducting "replenishment-at-sea" at the time, which was safely terminated, the Navy said.

"USS Harry S. Truman and embarked aircraft remain full mission capable," the Navy said. The incident is under investigation, according to the Navy. It's unclear if the aircraft has been recovered or if recovery efforts are underway.

The F/A-18 Super Hornet was assigned to Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1.

I am posting from my "go to" Russian language sources, regnum.ru and korrespondent.net , and the Ukrainian language news outlets I consider to be of reasonable quality.

I post from newsfront because the Russian MoD website has been self blocked to prevent western hackers. newsfront has the most news condensed, about the Russian war on everyone, from the Russian perspective. It ain't perfect, but then, what is?

#16  Clearly we’ve reached the getting to know you stage, my dear Aca Joe. Which languages do you have? American English and Mexican Spanish, assuredly. Your mother’s tongue? Latin and Greek? Chinese for the clothing factories or Bengali? I know in Mexico City there are international schools where the students are immersed in the nation’s language (English, French, German, etc) — did you have that opportunity, or did you go to a local school that had foreign languages in the curriculum?

If you are struggling to explain something, try giving it to us in Spanish. I’ve forgotten all that I’d learnt at university, but there are plenty here who will be able to handle anything short of Medieval Catalan.

I agree with you about the difference between playing tourist and actually living somewhere. Mr. Wife’s career took us to Germany for four years, where I studied German and trailing daughter #1 went to the village preschool, followed by a year in Belgium, where the trailing daughters studied French at the American school and I studied Flemish. While we were over there we tootled around exploring on the weekends, as one does. The subsequent Guangzhou assignment fell through after I’d spent a year studying Chinese in preparation, but I had fun learning. I’ve joined Mr. Wife on a few business trips over the years, but mostly I let him go in his own — he worked even longer hours out there, and he was distinctly uncomfortable leaving me on my own in most of the countries. But he brought me home cookbooks and handicrafts and international colleagues in need of dinner, so that was ok.

There is this odd stereotype that Americans don’t speak foreign languages, odd because it has never been true. I live in Cincinnati, Ohio, in the middle of the American Midwest, and until shortly before the second world war there were German and other translators on staff at the courthouse downtown because they were needed all day long. Back in Buffalo, NY, my darling father-in-law was taught exclusively in Polish through sixth grade. Nowadays, according to the 2010 census, one in five Americans lives in a home where a language other than English is spoken. In the exurban public school the trailing daughters attended, there are known to be fifty-six languages spoken in students’ homes; the school website is available in eight languages in addition to English, five of them using non-Latin alphabets, and every year they put out a call for translators to help students with their final exams. Plus language courses: French, Spanish, and Latin offered on the school campus, and a dual credit program with the local universities for whatever they offer, via which trailing daughter #2 got two years of college Japanese a decade ago in addition to the Latin and German she and td#1 took in high school. And then there are language communities in the area that have after school or weekend language courses for children in Chinese, Korean, German, Hebrew, Russian, and no doubt others — my children went to Hebrew school while some of their friends went to the others I listed, preserving connections to familial cultures.

The Russian controlled Wagner group is desperate, and is trying to hire any RAW unskilled male 22 to 50 to wear a combat uniform.

We usually call this Cannon Fodder. Since they are not seasoned troops, they will be the 1st in to get the opposing army to waste ammo, point out weak defensive areas and limited expand resources on.

Think about it, they are so short handled they are even giving Jailed violent Prisoners positions in lieu of serving time.

Also, the Russian Press seems to be getting fed up with Putin's version of a Vietnam War and the costs it is having on the Russia people and economy.

Hell, Certain Russian MSM press is even now covering the street protests about the mass killing of Ukrainian Women, babies, children and citizens.

The problem with sending a bunch of quickly trained assassins and saboteurs is that almost all of them turn out to be as [in]capable as Faisal the Fizzle Bomber (Faisal Shahzad, the MBA from Karachi whose father was a retired senior Pakistani air force officer), who went through the full suicide bomber course put on by Tehrik-e-Taliban (Pakistan) head trainer. #56  Yes, the outside world believes with all their rosy-palmed might that CNN, the New York Times, and so forth are telling the truth. They also believe our films and television shows accurately depict American life, and all their vacations in Florida, New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago have not given them the insights they need. My bright, successful friends over there used to tell me the most arrant nonsense about America and Americans as if they had deeply pondered the subject instead of unthinkingly quoting common wisdom.

I highly recommend Jean-François Revel as a purgative. It’s available in Spanish as La obsesión antiamericana, among other languages.

Russian army is stuck in Bilogorivka in the Luhansk region, - Heyday
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[LB] "It's thanks to our defenders, who put up a decent fightback. Plus the good work of our gunners."

Vera Perun

Russian occupying forces cannot capture Bilogorivka, which is in Luhansk Region.

This was announced by the head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Gaidai .

"Russian troops are stuck today in Bilogorivka and most likely it is thanks to our defenders who are putting up a decent fightback. Plus a good job of our artillerymen who destroyed a large number of artillery depots in the last few days, so the logistics of the Russians are very bad at the moment with the delivery of ammunition ", - said Gaidai.

He noted that because of this, the number of enemy attacks and shelling decreased.

"They cannot go even one meter without artillery," Gaidai stressed.
Who the hell can?
It will be recalled that the head of the Luhansk Region has already reported that attempts by the Russians to advance from Lysychansk to Siversk are failing.

In Novaya Kakhovka (Kherson Region) , more than 100 Russians died as a result of shelling of the Russian army, and about two hundred more were injured.

In Luhansk region Russians remove children's comics from libraries as "harmful literature".

[LB] The occupiers qualify such publications as "literature promoting nationalism, Nazism and fascism."

Vera Perun

In Luhansk Oblast , the Russian occupiers are removing Ukrainian-language fiction and special literature, periodicals, and even the children's comic "The Adventures of Mykytka" from libraries .

This was announced by the head of Luhansk OVA, Serhii Gaidai .

According to him, the comic was released by the regional administration back in 2018.

"On the pages of the graphic story, the story of the little boy Mykytka, who is a witness to the terrible events of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, is depicted. The main character, whose parents were kidnapped and held in custody by militants, was given shelter by our defenders.

In the location of the military personnel, the boy tells that his native village was heavily damaged during the enemy shelling. And soon Mykytka finds himself in the epicenter of hostilities, where he sees the brave struggle of our defenders on the terrain of his native Luhansk region, namely near Novotoshkivskyi and Krymskyi," said the head of the OVA.

He noted that it is not surprising that Russians consider a true children's story about their crimes a threat. That is why they gave instructions to remove such literature from book collections.

Gaidai added that over a hundred thousand copies of various "harmful publications" have already been seized from the enemy-occupied territories of Luhansk Region.

"Regarding the seizure of books, the occupying "prosecutors" even hold meetings with culture and education workers, at which women are threatened with harsh consequences for trying to keep "forbidden" literature in libraries," the head of the region said.

We will remind, earlier Ukrainian intelligence reported that Russia destroys "extremist" literature in the captured territories: everything that does not coincide with Kremlin propaganda.

In the temporarily occupied Mariupol , rioters burned down the library of the Church of St. Peter the Tomb of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

The report notes that the Russian occupiers, in order to somehow justify their destruction of civilian facilities on the territory of Ukraine, continue to lie about the alleged location of military units in schools, hospitals and apartment buildings

Direct Translation via Google Translate Edited.
[Korrespondent] 23:58 More than 16,000 Ukrainians who escaped from Russian filtration camps managed to return to Ukraine, Vereshchuk said on the air of the telethon:
Good.
“Many people remain in Estonia, Latvia, Germany, Poland. We cannot forbid people. 300 people who have already returned to the territory of Ukraine.

23:53 After the destruction of the ammunition depots in Kherson, Chernobaevka and Tavriysk by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the invaders began to transport them further beyond the Dnieper - to New Kakhovka and Oleshki, said the adviser to the head of the Kherson OVA Serhiy Khlan.

23:04 Residents of the Russian-controlled southern territories of Ukraine are asked to evacuate, Irina Vereshchuk said on the air of the telethon: “Our army is launching a counteroffensive. I don’t know what time frame it will be, but I know for sure that there should not be women and children there. should not become a human shield between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the enemy."

In particular, the Deputy Prime Minister proposed to evacuate not only through the Crimea, but also through Vasilievka deep into Ukraine. "The density and intensity of shelling will increase," Vereshchuk warned and stressed that the enemy is interrupting power lines, cables, infrastructure, and the heating season is approaching, and the winter will be difficult.

22:59 The Pivden Operational Command confirmed the strike of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the command post of the Russian Guard near Kherson. The Ukrainian military destroyed four ammunition depots in different districts of the Kherson region, confirmed losses - 15 Russians and more than 60 pieces of equipment.

22:56 Zelensky commented on the “operational pause” of the Russians in the evening video message: “Last week, many people talked about the alleged “operational pause” in the actions of the invaders in the Donbas and in other parts of Ukraine. 34 Russian air raids in the past day is the answer to all those who came up with this "pause" ... The Ukrainian army is holding on, holding on tight and repulsing assaults in different directions. But, of course, a lot still needs to be done so that Russian losses become such that after which there will really be a pause. And the pause is not before new advances of the occupiers, but before their flight".

22:05 Zelensky ordered the military to de-occupy the coastal regions in the south, for this Ukraine is gathering millions of fighting forces, Reznikov told The Times: "Ukraine is gathering millions of fighting forces equipped with Western weapons to recapture its southern territory from Russia."

21:36 Russian troops are stuck and cannot advance in Belogorivka, Luhansk region, fighting continues there, said the head of the OVA Serhiy Gaidai on the air of the telethon. He stressed that the region has not yet passed completely under the control of the Russian Federation. According to Gaidai, this is due to the work of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to destroy enemy ammunition depots. He also said that the number of attacks and shelling has decreased, since the RF Armed Forces are almost powerless without their own artillery.

21:32 Reznikov said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that HIMARS systems have changed the rules of the game, allowing Ukraine to attack Russian forces in Izyum, but more weapons capable of hitting long distances are needed to succeed on the battlefield. According to him, after a precise strike on the Russian air operations command center, the American side admitted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine "passed the test."

Reznikov stressed that the invaders use MLRS, which can strike at 120 km, so the Armed Forces of Ukraine need installations with a range of up to 150 km. Also needed are deliveries of armored vehicles, tanks and drones.

19:00 The Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on Canada to cancel the decision to return to Germany the turbines for the Nord Stream repaired by Siemens Canada. Ukrainian ministries have said they see the Canadian-German agreement as an adaptation of the sanctions regime to "Russia's whims," which would only reinforce its sense of its own impunity.

They call Moscow's demand for a turbine "blackmail without technical justification" because gas transportation can be continued with the existing equipment. "The transfer of the Nord Stream 1 turbine will allow Russia to continue to use energy as a tool of hybrid warfare against Europe," the statement said.

Ukrainian defense official announces the heavy losses and depletion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[RIA Novosti] Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov announced numerous losses and exhaustion of the country's army. He spoke about this in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

“We need to upgrade our units, replace them and reshuffle, because we have heavy losses. We want more armored vehicles, more weapons from our partners. We need to rebuild some areas, update fortifications and plan a new operational strategy,” he said.

According to Reznikov, Javelin and NLAW short-range missile systems are no longer on the list of priority equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and now Kiev needs long-range artillery mounts.

Against the backdrop of a Russian special operation to defend the Donbass, which began on February 24, the United States and NATO allies continue to supply Ukraine with weapons for combat operations. Earlier, United States President Joe Biden signed a bill on the allocation of military, economic and humanitarian assistance to Kiev in the amount of about $40 billion.

Moscow has repeatedly pointed to the attempts of the West to drag out the conflict by supplying ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Russian Defense Ministry has warned that ammunition depots will become legitimate targets for the Aerospace Forces in Ukraine.

Ukrainian marines were taught on the textbooks of terrorists operating in Chechnya
Instructions for terrorists found in laptop of Ukrainian marine

[RIA Novosti] Instructions for terrorists were found in the laptop of a Ukrainian marine, drawn up taking into account the experience of military operations in Chechnya in the 1990s, RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

The introduction states that "the document was captured as a result of operational measures in the Chechen Republic" and "will be useful to thinking officers."

The first part of the instruction is entitled "Actions in the mountains and in the forest." It includes such paragraphs as "inconvenience for a surprise attack by the enemy," "convenience of protection and defense," "Equipment of a cache for storing weapons, ammunition, equipment and food," "Presence of a drinking source nearby," "Organization of ambushes for the enemy," "Mining the area."
Weird this comes up as Ukrainian naval infantry has repeatedly shown their mettle in battle, first against Donbas militia and then against Russian and Chechen regulars.
Some paragraphs are devoted to mining.

The second part of the instruction is called "Actions in the settlement". It is dedicated to the basics of conspiracy and fighting in urban areas - in the event that a terrorist cell is discovered by the authorities.

The presence of such detailed instructions indicates that the Ukrainian militants were prepared in advance for terrorist actions and operations against Russian troops. The Ukrainian military was asked to make full use of the experience gained by international terrorists in the North Caucasus.

Liberal Democratic Party proposes to replace the word president with the word ruler
Direct Translation via Google Translate Edited.

I guess Zhirinovsky is over his heart attack. Only one other individual in Russia's most recent history held the title "Ruler of Russia" and that was Russian civil war era Admiral Oleksandr Kolchak.

[REGNUM] The LDPR proposed to abandon the term "president" in relation to the head of state and replace it with "ruler".

"The Party supported the adoption of the Basic Law, because in those stormy years, the continuation of lawlessness was more dangerous than the adoption of a far from perfect Constitution. However, this does not mean that today we cannot fix it," the LDPR press service noted.

Amendments to the Constitution fixed the word "president" in relation to the head of state.

As REGNUM reported earlier , LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky proposed to abandon the word "president."

The State Duma adopted a law prohibiting the names of governors as presidents of subjects of the Russian Federation.

Ex-president of Poland proposed to reduce Russia to 50 million inhabitants
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

And in one moment Walesa manages to bolster Russian Federation president Vladimir Putin's casus belli.

According to the CIA World Factbook, Russia’s current population is estimated at 142,021,981.
[REGNUM] The population of Russia must be reduced to 50 million people. This was stated by the former President of Poland Lech Walesa , writes Le Figaro.
Give it time — with their birth and death rates, they’ll get there without any outside help, entirely too soon.
He stated that it was necessary to "force a change in the political system" and "organize an uprising of the peoples of Russia."

“It is necessary either to change the political system of Russia, or to return it to a population of less than 50 million people,” he stressed.

He believes that global security can be ensured by the dismemberment of today's Russia.

#2  Lech Walesa never claimed to be an intellectual. He had one very good idea, which drove out the Soviets and got him elected, but as I recall governance was not his strength.

China-Japan-Koreas
North Korea fires multiple suspected rocket launchers, warns Seoul
[IsraelTimes] South Korea pursuing $2.6 billion artillery interception system, similar to Israel’s Iron Dome, to protect against potential Pyongyang attacks

North Korea
...hereditary Communist monarchy distinguished by its truculence and periodic acts of violence. Distinguishing features include Songun (Army First) policy, which involves feeding the army before anyone but the Dear Leadership, and Juche, which is Kim Jong Il's personal interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, which he told everybody was brilliant. In 1950 the industrialized North invaded agrarian South Korea. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations eventually contributed to the UN force opposing the invasion, with the United States providing around 90% of the military personnel. Seventy years later the economic results are in and it doesn't look good for Juche...
fired what appeared to be multiple rocket launchers Sunday, Seoul said, the latest in a series of provocations by the nuclear-armed nation to heighten regional tensions.

The South Korean military detected "flight trajectories" that were suspected to be shots from North Korean artillery, Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

"Our military spotted flight trajectories that are suspected to be North Korea’s multiple rocket launchers from around 18:21 to 18:37 pm today," said the Joint Chiefs of Staff in a text message to news hounds.

"Our military has strengthened surveillance and vigilance, and maintained a thorough readiness posture while keeping close US-South Korea cooperation," it added, without further details.

Seoul authorities did not share how many trajectories were detected in total.

The presidential National Security Office held a meeting over the North’s firing, and said it was "closely monitoring" the situation in case of additional launches by Pyongyang.

North Korea has carried out a blitz of sanctions-busting weapons tests this year, including firing an intercontinental ballistic missile at full range for the first time since 2017. These are banned under UN Security Council resolutions sanctioning North Korea’s missile development.

Washington and Seoul officials have also warned that the isolated regime is preparing to carry out what would be its seventh nuclear test — a move that the United States warned would provoke a "swift and forceful" response.

Last month, South Korean Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup said Seoul would "strengthen" its defense capabilities, as well as its security cooperation with Washington and Tokyo, to counter the nuclear threat from Pyongyang.

Rooters reported that South Korea was pursuing a $2.6 billion artillery interception system, similar to Israel’s Iron Dome, to protect against potential North Korean rocket attacks.

A total of six US top-of-the-line F-35A fighters arrived in the South last week for a 10-day allied exercise running until July 14, in the first public deployment of American stealth warplanes in the country since late 2017.

Nara police chief admits security failure, takes responsibility for Shinzo Abe's death
[WashingtonTimes] The police chief of the prefecture where former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was assassinated this week said he bears responsibility for his death.

Nara Prefectural police Chief Tomoaki Onizuka said Mr. Abe’s security personnel followed the lead of the plan he put forward, and he "takes responsibility" for his killing.

"I feel the weight of my responsibility," Mr. Onizuka said at the Saturday presser.

He added: "After the first report of the incident came at 11:30 a.m., and the situation was revealed, it was the height of the guilt and regret I’ve felt in my 27 years in law enforcement."

Mr. Abe, 67, died after being shot by a gunman who opened fire on him while he was making a speech in broad daylight.

The Grand Turk
Fitch cuts Turkey’s debt ratings to ‘B’
[Dawn] Ratings agency Fitch HAS downgraded The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
’s debt rating to "B" from "B+" citing increasing inflation and broad concerns about the economy, from a widening current account deficit to interventionist policies.

Inflation in Turkey shot to a 24-year high 78.62 per cent in June, mainly due to a currency crisis at the end of last year and the lira’s continued decline.

The economic fallout from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has also stoked prices in import-dependent Turkey, especially due to rising energy and commodity costs.

In a statement on Friday, the agency affirmed its ratings outlook at "negative", adding that it expects Turkey’s consumption to slow given rising inflation, a weaker exchange rate and diminishing domestic confidence. Fitch forecast annual inflation to average 71.4pc this year, the highest among sovereigns rated by the agency, adding that its trajectory remains highly uncertain. Average inflation is set to slow to 57pc in 2023, Fitch said, due to overly accommodative policies until parliamentary and presidential elections scheduled for no later than June 2023.

The lira lost 44pc of its value against the dollar last year, mainly due to a series of rate cuts from the central bank, sought by President Tayyip Erdogan. The currency is down a further 23pc so far this year.

The government has taken steps to stem the lira’s decline. A recent move by the BDDK banking watchdog to restrict lira lending to foreign currency-rich companies helped it rally briefly last week as corporates sold hard currencies.

India-Pakistan
3 Ahmadis arrested in Faisalabad for sacrificing animals on Eid
Pakistan is truly a special place.
[Dawn] A first information report (FIR) was registered in Faisalabad
...formerly known as Lyallpur, the third largest metropolis in Pakistain, the second largest in Punjab after Lahore. It is named after some Arab because the Paks didn't have anybody notable of their own to name it after...
on Sunday against members of the Ahmadi community for "hurting Moslem sentiments" by sacrificing animals on Eidul Azha.

Three members of the community have been arrested over the matter, Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Pakistain spokesperson Saleemuddin told Dawn.com.

The FIR, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, states that the complainants were present in a mosque after Eidul Azha prayers when they came to know through "verified sources" that residents of the Ahmadi community were sacrificing animals inside their homes.

The complainants then reached the area and "climbed the roofs of nearby houses, after which they saw that the [Ahmadi community members] were sacrificing a goat at one place while other members were cutting the meat of another animal at a different place", it added.

"The Islamic sentiments of the complainants and other Moslems were hurt by this and [the complainants] recorded a video which can be presented as evidence.

"By performing a ritual in line with Islamic beliefs and presenting themselves as Moslems despite being Ahmadis, they have committed a cognisable offence, according to Moslem ummah’s belief, and this has grievously hurt Moslem sentiments," the complainants stated.

The FIR was registered at Faisalabad’s cop shoppe Thikriwala against five people under Section 298-C (person of Qadiani group, etc., calling himself a Moslem or preaching or propagating his faith) of the Pakistain Penal Code (PPC).

The community’s spokesperson, Saleemuddin, said the slaughter was being performed within the confines of a house and not in a public place. "The community is being persecuted," he told Dawn.com.

The religious affairs ministry had asked the interior ministry earlier this month to ensure the implementation of Article 260(3) of the Constitution, which classifies segments of society as ’non-Moslems’, and Section 298-C of the PPC.

A letter addressed to the interior secretary, dated July 6, which Dawn.com has seen, stated that the article and Section 198-C "prevented" the Ahmadis from "posing themselves as Moslems and performing the Islamic practices".

"It is stated that the implementation of the penal provisions contained in the Pakistain Penal Code is the responsibility of interior ministry (law enforcement agencies) up to extent of ICT and provincial governments up to extent of provinces," the letter added.

COVID-19: Blood cancer patients gain antibodies from vaccine booster - study
[JP] Blood cancer patients, already at high risk, often did not develop antibodies against COVID-19 from the first shot. But the booster and antibody therapy can provide a better shield.

Many adults suffering from blood cancers who did not develop antibodies from their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine managed to do so after receiving the booster shot, a new study has found. In addition, receiving antibody alongside the second dose can further shield patients from the virus.

Patients suffering from blood cancers are at high risk of developing a severe case of the disease after being infected with the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19. However, the fact that many do not develop immune responses to initial vaccination has raised concerns.

The findings of this study, published in the peer-reviewed academic journal Cancer, raises hopes for protecting these high-risk cancer patients from the global pandemic.
