Texas governor declares invasion at border, invokes constitutional powers in historic action
[JustTheNews] Frustrated by an unending crisis fueled by drug and human trafficking at the southern border, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday declared his state was under an invasion and invoked special powers granted under the U.S. and Texas constitutions.

Abbott's decision came after three dozen counties in his state passed resolutions calling for the dramatic action. The Republican governor said the declaration allows him to send National Guard troops to the border, treat drug cartels as terrorist organizations and build his own border wall separate of the federal government,

"I invoked the Invasion Clauses of the U.S. & Texas Constitutions to fully authorize Texas to take unprecedented measures to defend our state against an invasion," Abbott tweeted in his announcement. "I'm using that constitutional authority, & other authorization & Executive Orders to keep our state & country safe."

Abbott wrote in a letter to county officials the invocation of the constitutional powers was authorized by an executive order he signed back in July. His tweet Tuesday was the first time he publicly claimed he was invoking the invasion clauses of the U.S. and state constitutions.

Abbott previously garnered national headlines by busing thousands of illegal migrants to blue cities such as Chicago, New York and Washington D.C. But his new action Tuesday marked a major escalation that carries both political and legal consequences.

Abbott said his executive order had allowed him to:

  • Deploy the National Guard to the border to repel illegal immigrants, and the Texas Department of Public Safety to arrest and return illegal entrants to their home countries;

  • Build a border wall in multiple counties;

  • Deploy gun boats to secure the border;

  • Designate Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations;

  • Enter into a compact with other states to secure the border;

  • Enter into agreements with foreign powers to enhance border security;

  • And provide resources for border counties to increase their efforts to respond to the border invasion.

Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief November 16, 2022
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • FRESH CLASHES BETWEEN TALIBAN AND PAKISTAN BORDER FORCES IN PAKTIA – A firefight took place in Paktia Province at the Kharlachi border crossing on the Durand Line. According to reports, the firefight lasted for approximately one hour. No information was immediately available regarding potential casualties from the clash but eyewitnesses on the Afghanistan side claimed to have seen several wounded Taliban fighters being loaded on vehicles. The circumstances which led to the clash are not known.

  • COUNTER-ISIS OPERATION ONGOING IN HERAT – Late reporting was received about a security operation that took place in Herat overnight. Taliban security forces launched the operation late last night. The operation targeted a suspected ISIS-K safe house in Police District 12 of Herat. 5 ISIS-K militants were reportedly killed in the fighting and the home was destroyed. No information on Taliban or non-combatant casualties has been given. At-risk Afghans in Herat are advised to shelter in place until the situation becomes clearer.

  • NEW SECURITY CHECKPOINTS ESTABLISHED ON THE JAWZJAN-BALKH HIGHWAY - Approximately ten new security checkpoints have been set up along the route by police. It is not clear why the new checkpoints have been put in place and what threat they are intended to protect against. Travelers along this route should expect additional scrutiny of documents and electronic devices.

  • FEMALE ACTIVIST GOES MISSING – Parveen Sadat, a noted female activist was reported missing yesterday evening. She reputedly disappeared after posting a voice message on social media that stated the Taliban had invaded her residence. Presumably, she was taken into custody but family and friends do not know where she is being held and what potential charges she may be facing.

  • TALIBAN DISTANCING THEMSELVES FROM THE SPIN BOLDAK SHOOTER – Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the regime, tweeted that the attack was carried out by an unknown gunman. Eyewitnesses who were present at the scene of the skirmish claimed very early that the instigator was a Taliban border security guard who had been stationed at the post for several months. Our analysis indicates the deception is likely intended to mitigate the Pakistani demand that he be handed over. The impasse puts the Taliban in a tough position.

CONFLICT TRACKER
Paktia: A cross-border clash occurred between border security forces at the Kharlachi border crossing in the Dand Aw Patan district of the province. The fight lasted nearly an hour and some casualties were reported, but accurate numbers were not immediately available.
Herat: Taliban security forces launched a nearly morning raid on a suspected ISIS-K safe house in Police District 12 of Herat. 5 ISIS-K militants were reportedly killed and the house was destroyed.

NEXT 24 HOURS
AFGHANISTAN - PAKISTAN BORDER STANDOFF – With a second cross-border incident at a border crossing it is possible the security situation could deteriorate further. While not enough information is known about the impetus for the second clash it illustrates the simmering tensions and increased alert levels that are probably present on both sides of the border. If tensions escalate, the border may close entirely and Pakistan may resort to air strikes or the use of artillery to quell future threats. At-risk Afghans intending to cross the border should continue to monitor the situation.

A Muslim cleric arrested for spreading Al-Shabaab ideologies in Somalia
[Garowe] A holy man has been arrested by authorities in Somalia, with the government accusing him of teaching al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
's radical ideologies to his followers even as the country struggles to contain the group which controls large swathes of rural central and southern Somalia.

The Ministry of Information noted that Mustafe Ali Anod was arrested in the Elasha Biyaha area within the capital Mogadishu and will be arraigned in court to respond to charges ranging from spreading violent mostly peaceful extremism to working closely with the designated al-Shabaab bully boys.

According to officials, the estranged holy man described the fans of the English and Italian soccer teams as "infidels" just ahead of the much anticipated FIFA World Cup which kicks off over the weekend in Qatar

country.

The holy man, authorities said, has been on the radar due to his radical teachings that have been motivating people to join the outlawed group which controls large swathes of rural central and southern Somalia. The al-Shabaab forces of Evil are fighting to overthrow the fragile UN-backed federal government of Somalia.

His arrest comes hours after the United States Department of State increased rewards for people who will volunteer information about al-Shabaab's sources of revenue, including through extortion, forceful taxation, smuggling, and financial contributions from sponsors inside and outside of the country.

The US, which is a major security partner of Somalia, says whoever gives credible information leading to the arrest or identification of sources of revenue, will get $10 million, an increase from the previous $5 million. Currently, a number of al-Shabaab operatives are on the US radar.

Among those who are being pursued is the al-Shabaab Emir Ahmed Diriye alias Abu Ubaidah who has not been seen in public for over five years and his rival Mahat Karate, the head of the group's Amniyat Intelligence wing and finances. The two have a combined bounty of $20 million on their head based on revised rates.

Failed Assassination Attempt on Libyan Customs Officer in Misrata
[LibyaReview] Colonel Khaled al-Dalaa, Director of the Misrata Customs Office was subjected to a failed liquidation attempt, after confiscating a huge shipment of drugs at the Misrata port from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
According to eyewitnesses, button men showered the police officer’s car with bullets, but he miraculously survived the accident.

Earlier this month, the Attorney General’s Office announced the seizure of 14,910 pieces of hashish and 8.7 million narcotic tablets. These were concealed in a container designated for transporting durable goods from Turkey, in the seaport of Misrata.

The Office ordered that the perpetrators be referred to the competent authorities, to complete all legal procedures against them, and to confiscate the narcotics.

Al-Dalaa said in a video published earlier this month that during a routine inspection, the drugs, estimated at 200 million Libyan dinars, were seized. He added that this seizure is "one of the largest" operations of this year.

In September, the Libyan Customs Authority said that it had thwarted the smuggling of huge quantities of narcotic tablets concealed inside a car on the Libyan-Tunisian border at the Wadi El Bir region.

"After an investigation, officers were able to seize 270,000 narcotic tablets," the Customs Department said in a statement. They also found five bags of Heroin, weighing 2.5 kilograms.

The operation was reportedly led by Algerian smugglers. This was part of the efforts exerted by the Customs Authority to impose security and the rule of law, along the Libyan-Tunisian border.

In May, the Head of Libya’s INTERPOL National Central Bureau, Adel Bentaleb claimed that there has been a marked increase in narcos using Libya as a transshipment point. This includes drugs from as far as South America.

"While many of these drugs are neither produced nor consumed here, this has not spared us from the violent mostly peaceful crime inevitably wrought by such activity, which we are determined to combat alongside INTERPOL," Bentaleb said.

INTERPOL has said drugs worth nearly €100 million euros have been seized in Africa and the Middle East, during a large international police operation in March and April of 2021.

Libya Arrests ‘Foreign Smuggling Gang’
[LibyaReview] Libyan security forces arrested a gang of foreigners on charges of arranging to smuggle a group of migrants colonists to Europe

On Monday, the Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Security Directorate said that the "forces of the Gharbi Police Station arrested a foreign gang, intending to smuggle a group of expatriate workers through one of the coastal ports."

The directorate said that the members of the gang received $2,700 from each migrant for transporting them by rubber boats across the Mediterranean. The statement did not reveal the identity of the gang, nor their nationalities.

The statement pointed out that a member of the investigation department "disclosed important information that contributed to developing a plan, and setting up a tight ambush to arrest the group."

The accused have confessed to the charges, and the necessary legal measures have been taken against them.

Earlier this month, Jean-Claude Samouiller, President of Amnesia Amnesty International in La Belle France condemned the deliberate sorting of migrants colonists coming from Libya by the Italian authorities, saying that "it is a flagrant violation of international law."

In press statements, Samouiller said that "after more than ten days of deadlock, Italia finally authorised a ship from the NGO SOS Humanity, flying the German flag, to dock in the Sicilian port of Catania. But the Italian authorities want to sort out the migrants colonists they will welcome on board the boat."

He stated that Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani announced that the authorities will sort out the migrants colonists: "only minors, pregnant women, and sick people have been authorised to disembark this Sunday morning. The ship’s 35 adult men remained on board."

"Italian authorities must urgently allow all people on the ship to disembark as soon as possible," said Julia Hall, Amnesia Amnesty International’s Deputy Director at the Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
Regional Office.

She said that "it is disgraceful that the Italian government continues to assist Libyan authorities in violating their people’s human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
. It adds insult to injury that the Italian government also refuses disembarkation to those who managed to leave that country."

"Italia legitimately expects other EU Member States to share responsibility for people seeking asylum, but this does not justify imposing measures that only increase the suffering of already traumatised people," Hall added.

Iran’s Quds Force tried to kill Israeli businessman in Georgia, Jerusalem says
[IsraelTimes] IRGC directed Pak terror cell to assassinate Israeli-Georgian businessman Itsik Moshe in Tbilisi, government sources

Israeli-Georgian businessman Itzik Moshe (Nesi315 CC BY-SA 4.0)
Georgian security officials foiled a recent attempt by the extraterritorial arm of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, the Quds Force, to kill a prominent Israeli-Georgian living in the capital Tbilisi, The Times of Israel has learned.

This isn’t the first time Iranian forces have tried to attack Moshe, according to an Israeli security official.

Moshe, 62, served in the past as a senior Jewish Agency representative in Russia, and founded Israeli House, which seeks to improve Israel’s image in Eastern Europe.

Quds Force operatives in multiple countries planned the attack. Under Iranian direction, a Pak team affiliated with al-Qaeda traveled to Tbilisi to gather intelligence and prepare for it.

Quds Force operative Mohammad Reza Ebadi Arablu has been responsible for the terror cell since 2011. His commander was Ali Feyzipour, who has been involved in other Iranian terror plots around the world.

The plot was discovered by Georgian security forces, who became aware of suspicious behavior on the part of one of the Pak operatives. They arrested him and subsequently found weapons in his possession.

In addition, Georgian discovered two Georgian-Iranian dual citizens allegedly responsible for passing weapons along to the hit team. They were working with a weapons smuggler in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
All of the suspects are in Georgian custody and are being interrogated. An investigation by Tbilisi continues into others outside of Georgia who were involved in the plot.

Georgian and Israeli security officials spoke after the arrests, an Israeli security official said.

"This isn’t the first time an attempt to carry out a terror attack on Georgian soil under Iranian orders has been revealed," the official added.

The attempt follows other recent Iranian plots to harm Israelis in the region. In June, Turkey and Israel foiled a plan to attack Israelis in Istanbul, and in October of last year, there was an attempt to kill Israeli businessmen in Cyprus.

The Israeli official said that European officials are considering declaring the IRGC a terror group. "Iran
...They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
will pay a heavy price in the international arena" because of its attempts at attacks, the official said.

There is no new travel warning to Georgia in the wake of the plot, according to a National Security Council official.

The State Security Service of Georgia released a statement earlier Tuesday saying that the main suspect received weapons from other Iranian citizens in Georgia through the use of dropoffs and hideouts in order to cover their tracks, adding that several firearms were seized in the arrest and investigation.

The security agency said that several people were arrested in the course of the investigation, including Georgians who held dual citizenship with Iran or Pakistain.

Georgia is a popular travel locale for Israelis, especially the resort town of Batumi, which can be reached via a direct flight from Tel Aviv — as can the capital Tbilisi.

In 2012, local security forces defused a boom-mobile that was placed under the vehicle of an employee of the Israeli Embassy in Tbilisi.

Europe
France to deport 44 migrants rescued by ship in Italy row
[AlAhram] La Belle France has rejected asylum applications from 44 of the 234 migrants colonists rescued in the Mediterranean by the Ocean Viking NGO ship, who will be returned to their country of origin, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said Tuesday.

The ship was allowed to disembark at the French port of Toulon last Friday after Italia refused access to its ports, sparking a diplomatic row over how to handle the thousands of migrants colonists trying to reach Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
from North Africa each year.

Speaking in parliament, Darmanin said the 44 migrants colonists will be deported "as soon as their health allows," adding that others could also be sent home as more asylum claims are examined.

La Belle France had never before allowed a rescue vessel carrying migrants colonists from the Mediterranean to land on its coast, but did so this time because Italia had refused access.

The French government said under international maritime law, the Ocean Viking with its passengers in distress should have been granted access to the nearest ports.

But Italia, under its new far-right Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, wants other EU nations to shoulder more of the burden, and appears ready to force the issue to the top of the European agenda.

In retaliation for Italia's stance, La Belle France suspended a plan to take 3,500 refugees currently in Italia, part of a European distribution accord, and urged Germany and other EU nations to do the same.

The Grand Turk
Turkey makes further arrests after deadly Istanbul blast
[IsraelTimes] Ottoman Turkish police have apprehended more suspects in connection with the bombing of a bustling pedestrian avenue in Istanbul that killed six people and maimed several dozen others, bringing the number of people in jug to 50, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
’s justice minister says.

Sunday’s explosion targeted Istiklal Avenue — a popular thoroughfare lined with shops and restaurants — and was a stark reminder of bombings in Ottoman Turkish cities between 2015 and 2017 that crushed the public’s sense of security.

Ottoman Turkish authorities blamed the attack on the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, as well as Syrian Kurdish groups affiliated with it. The Kurdish gunnies groups have, however, denied involvement.

Police carried out raids in Istanbul several hours after the blast and detained 48 people, including a Syrian woman who is suspected of leaving a TNT-laden bomb at Istiklal. Police say the woman, identified as Ahlam Albashir, had crossed into Turkey from Syria illegally and has admitted to carrying out the attack.

Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag now says the number of suspects in jug has increased to 50, but doesn’t provide details. The state-run Anadolu Agency says police on Tuesday detained two brothers, identified as Ammar J. and Ahmed J.

Ammar J. was allegedly tasked with helping Albashir flee Istanbul to neighboring Greece after the attack, while Ahmed J. allegedly drove a suspect who is still on the lam, to Edirne province, near the border with Bulgaria, Anadolu reports.

"Turkey continues with its fight against terrorism with determination," the independent T24 news website quotes the minister as saying. "No terrorist organization will succeed in any kind of plot against Turkey."

Turkish ultranationalist politician interrogated over Istanbul attack
“Arrest all the usual suspects, Sergeant Burakgazi! And send for a barrel of mustache wax, a pot of tea, and a plate of cookies — we’ll need to keep up our strength tonight”
“Yessir, captain. Suspects, barrel o’wax, and rations, coming up!”
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey’s security forces have interrogated a Ottoman Turkish far-right politician after suspecting that he spoke on the phone with the main suspect of the recent deadly blast in Istanbul before the earth-shattering kaboom took place, reported an opposition news outlet on Tuesday. The government has blamed Kurdish forces in Syria for the incident.

A TNT explosion killed six people and injured 81 others in Istanbul’s famous Taksim thoroughfare on Sunday.

The Ottoman Turkish opposition news outlet, T24, reported on Tuesday that Mehmet Emin Ilhan, bigwig from the Ottoman Turkish far-right Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), has been interrogated by police for allegedly speaking on the phone with Albashir more than once before she placed the TNT in the overcrowded street.

Ilhan confirmed to T24 that he had been summoned by police and he has given a testimony in relation to the incident. Asked about the phone calls with the main suspect of the blast, he replied, "They, the terrorist organization, tried to play a trick on me," referring to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). He refused to elaborate as "I am not available now and I do not want to talk."

Ilhan later said in a presser that someone had registered a line under his name after obtaining a photocopy of his ID in 2019. He denied any control of the line with which the phone call with the Syrian woman was made.

PKK is an gang struggling for the increased rights of Kurds in Turkey. Ankara considers it a terrorist organization and claims that the YPG is the Syrian offshoot of the PKK.

Before Ilhan’s alleged phone call with Albashir was reported, MHP Leader Devlet Bahceli targeted the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), which he claims is the political wing of the PKK, saying "We cannot tolerate that the HDP, which recruits members for the terrorist organization... takes a place in Ottoman Turkish politics and democracy for a second."

HDP has repeatedly denied any organic links to the PKK but it says it respects the ideology of PKK’s locked away

Pervin Buldan, co-chair of the HDP, said during a party meeting on Tuesday that Bahceli did not just target her party but millions of people who voted for the party in the latest elections.

Adem Taskaya, deputy leader of the far-right Victory Party said on the first day of attack in a tweet that a Kurdish lawyer was the woman who appeared on CCTV.

"The person who carried out the heinous attack in Taksim is Jiyan Tosun who is a PKK lawyer," he claimed. But after Ottoman Turkish authorities identified the woman in the CCTV as Ahlam Albashir, Taskaya deleted the tweet.

Tosun has filed a lawsuit against Taskaya.

Iraq
Turkey, PKK publish casualty statistics for ongoing Kurdistan Region operation
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) have released conflicting casualty figures for an ongoing military operation in the Kurdistan Region, seven months after Ankara launched the operation targeting PKK positions.

The Ottoman Turkish defense ministry on Sunday claimed that 455 PKK fighters were "neutralized" in seven months of the operation, dubbed Claw-Lock, adding that 557 caves used as shelters by the Kurdish gang were "rendered unusable" and thousands of explosive mines were destroyed.

Turkey often uses the term "neutralize" to refer to combatants killed or injured on the battlefield.

The People's Defense Forces (HPG), the armed wing of the PKK, stated that 2,544 "invading" soldiers of the Ottoman Turkish army were killed, and a further 366 were maimed during the scope of the operation, while reiterating concerning claims that Ankara is using chemical weapons
...have not been used since WWI except for in Iraq, by the late, unlamented Saddam Hussein and in Syria, but really, honest, not by the Syrian government. And in Germany in WWII, but that was against civilians. Lots of them, just one of many reasons Hitler's also late and unlamented except among devout Moslems...
in the ongoing festivities, according to a statement from the group on Tuesday.

Operation Claw-Lock was launched by Turkey on April 18, with the goal of targeting PKK positions Metina, Zap, Avashin, and Basyan areas in northern Duhok province along the Ottoman Turkish border. The operation aims to remove the PKK from the bordering areas and cut off its access to mainland Turkey.

Ottoman Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on Sunday said that the operation is nearing its final stages and that Ankara is close to achieving victory.

"We are approaching the end, as the entire Claw-Lock Operation Area is about to be taken under control. We will clear Zap from faceless myrmidons and thus lock up all our borders," Akar stated, referring to Zap area in Duhok province — the last remaining pathway for the PKK from the Kurdistan Region into Turkey.

The PKK is a Kurdish gang struggling for the increased cultural and political rights of Kurds in Turkey and is designated as a terrorist organization by Ankara, which has launched several cross-border operations southward in the Kurdistan Region targeting positions of the group.

Last month, the PKK-affiliated Firat News Agency (ANF) published several videos purportedly showing Ottoman Turkish soldiers targeting its fighters with chemical weapons, adding that Turkey has used banned bombs and chemical substances at least 2,476 times since April.

The Ottoman Turkish defense ministry later deemed the claims that its soldiers used chemical weapons against the PKK "completely baseless and untrue."

A deadly blast in Istanbul on Sunday which killed six and injured at least 81 was attributed to the PKK by the Ottoman Turkish interior ministry, accusing the group and its alleged Syrian proxies — the People's Protection Units (YPG) — of carrying out the attack after arresting a suspect who allegedly confessed to being trained by the YPG to conduct the attack.

The PKK denied responsibility for the deadly bombing the next day, saying "we have nothing to do with this incident and it is well-known by the public that we would not target civilians directly or approve of actions directed at civilians," and the YPG also denied involvement while expressing condolences to the victims' families.

More than 500 villages have been emptied in the Kurdistan Region over three decades of the Turkey-PKK conflict.

Troops kill Palestinian teen girl in car that IDF says accelerated at soldiers
[IsraelTimes] Military says it is probing matter after 15-year-old rubbed out in Beitunia, man in vehicle taken to hospital; nine suspects arrested in overnight raids

A teenage Paleostinian girl was killed by Israeli troops near Ramallah in the West Bank early Monday, after a vehicle she was in allegedly accelerated toward soldiers, the military said.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, during overnight arrest raids in the city of Beitunia, a suspicious vehicle approaching the troops was spotted, and the soldiers signaled for it to stop.

"But [the car] accelerated towards the forces. In response, the force fired at the vehicle," the IDF said, adding that "hits were identified."

The Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry said 15-year-old Fulla Maslama was killed. It was unclear if she was driving the vehicle. Her 16th birthday would have been marked on Tuesday, according to the PA.

Earlier the ministry incorrectly reported that 19-year-old Sanaa at-Tal from the southern West Bank city of ad-Dhahiriya, was killed. The PA issued a correction several hours later.

A second person in the car was taken by troops to Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical center for treatment. His condition was not immediately clear.

Paleostinian news outlets, citing an eyewitness, said the vehicle was moving slowly, disputing the army’s claim.

The military said it was probing the circumstances of the incident.

During the overnight raids across the West Bank, the IDF said nine Paleostinians wanted for questioning over suspected terror activities, including one in Beitunia, were arrested.

There were no injuries to Israeli forces during the operations, and all of the suspects were taken by the Shin Bet security agency for further questioning.

3 killed, 3 wounded in West Bank attack; terrorist shot dead
Sudden Jihad Syndrome.
[IsraelTimes] Victims of stabbing and car-ramming spree treated at three locations in Ariel Industrial Park and on nearby highway; IDF troops enter attacker’s town

Three Israelis were killed and three were hurt in a stabbing and car-ramming attack in and around the West Bank settlement of Ariel on Tuesday morning, the military and medics said.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, a Paleostinian terrorist stabbed a security guard near the entrance to the Ariel Industrial Park. The terrorist then stabbed three people at and adjacent to a nearby gas station, before he fled in an apparently stolen vehicle.

Shortly afterward, the terrorist crashed the vehicle into other cars on the Route 5 highway, before getting out and stabbing another person, according to medics. He then stole another vehicle and drove it against traffic, crashing into more cars, before he got out and was rubbed out by soldiers and armed civilians.

Odelia Shahaf, a Magen David Adom ambulance service medic who was at the scene, said she thought it was a traffic accident.

"I was on the road and noticed what looked like a car accident. I saw a maimed man lying on the road and immediately went over to him," she said.

"While I started treating him I heard people shouting ’terrorist terrorist’ and saw a man running with a knife running in our direction," Shahaf said.

"He then managed to stab and injure a 35-year-old man. I went over to the maimed man who was badly stabbed and stopped his bleeding," she said. The terrorist at that point got into another vehicle and again crashed into the cars on the highway, she said.

MDA said the 36-year-old security guard was seriously hurt. Security officials were probing how the terrorist managed to flee after stabbing the guard at the first scene, and why they were not shot by another guard. The second guard only had gun sex.

Two men in their 40s who were stabbed at and near the gas station were killed, and another man in his 40s was seriously hurt. A man in his 50s, later named as Tamir Avi-hai, was killed after being rammed by the terrorist, and another 35-year-old was stabbed and seriously hurt on Route 5, according to MDA.

The Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva said it was treating three victims at death's door, one of whom was unstable. It later said the condition of one of the victims had improved.

The terrorist was named by the Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry as 18-year-old Muhammed Souf, from the nearby town of Hares.

Local officials said the terrorist had worked in the industrial zone, and had a valid permit. Souf did not have any prior security offenses, a defense source told The Times of Israel.

According to Paleostinian media reports, Israeli troops entered Hares following the attack. The military said troops were dispatched to the scene and were searching the area for a suspect who allegedly aided the terrorist.

A person initially reported by medics to have been a second attacker was one of the victims.
Souf did not have any prior security offenses, a defense source told The Times of Israel.

Three fathers named as victims of West Bank terror attack

[IsraelTimes] Tamir Avihai, 50, was from settlement of Kiryat Netafim; Michael Ladygin, 36, immigrated 5 years ago, lived in Bat Yam with his family; Motti Ashkenazi, 59, had two grandchildren.

Off-duty soldier who shot terrorist was headed to memorial for recent attack victim

[IsraelTimes] One of the off-duty soldiers who killed the terrorist following this morning’s deadly rampage near Ariel was heading to a memorial for a man killed in a terror attack last month, the military says.

Prior to his enlistment in the Armored Corps, the private, who can only be identified by his rank and first initial, worked at a store owned by Shalom Sofer.

On October 25, 63-year-old Sofer was stabbed by a Palestinian terrorist after he exited a store in al-Funduq, a Palestinian village near the settlement of Kedumim. After being hospitalized in serious condition Sofer was released, but he succumbed to his injuries last Tuesday at home.

“This morning while I was driving on Route 5 I noticed an unusual incident on the road. When I realized it was a terror attack, I got out of the car, identified the terrorist, and opened fire at him,” the soldier says in video statement published by the IDF.

Another on-duty Golani Brigade soldier and armed civilians also opened fire at the terrorist, killing him

Two Egyptian girls found dead at Syria's Al-Hol camp
[An Nahar] Syria's Kurdish authorities have recovered the bodies of two Egyptian girls dumped in sewage at the notorious al-Hol detention camp, local security personnel said on Tuesday.

"The bodies of two Egyptian girls were found in the sewage waters" at al-Hol a day earlier, a Kurdish security source told AFP, requesting anonymity.

The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which has a wide network of sources inside Syria, said the girls had been killed with a sharp object, adding that Kurdish security forces had transferred their bodies to a hospital for investigation.

The overcrowded camp in northeast Syria is home to more than 50,000 people, including relatives of suspected jihadists, as well as displaced Syrians, and Iraqi refugees.

Administered by semi-autonomous Kurdish forces, al-Hol is known for rampant violence.
The Times of Israel adds:
The two teenage girls were found in a separated, heavily guarded section of the camp known as the annex, where an additional 2,000 women from 57 countries — considered the most die-hard IS supporters — along with their roughly 8,000 children are housed, the Observatory said.

Iranians protest, strike on anniversary of November 2019 protests
[Rudaw] Protests and general strikes broke out across Iran
...They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
on Tuesday, marking the third anniversary of the 2019 Bloody November protests, as anti-regime demonstrations in the country continue for the ninth consecutive week, with the number of protesters killed by Iranian security forces rises.

Nationwide protests against the government of former President Hassan Rouhani
...Iran's moderate president, which he is, relative to his predecessor, which doesn't mean he's anything but a puppet of the nearest holy man...
erupted in Iran in November of 2019, following a surge in the price of petrol. Some 1,500 protesters were killed by Iranian security forces during the November demonstrations, making it the bloodiest anti-regime movement in Iran since the 1979 Islamic revolution.

Footage published on Telegram channels from the country’s western Kurdish areas (Rojhelat) depicted general strikes at bazaars in the cities of Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz, Sanandaj, Saqqez, Tabriz, Baneh, Mahabad, Marivan, Piranshar, Oshnavieh, Divandarreh, Javanrud, Ilam, Kermanshah, among others.

"The stores and bazaars are 100 percent closed," Syko*, a citizen from Mahabad, told Rudaw English on Tuesday, "everyone is sitting at home, and there are no open places apart from pharmacies and bakeries."

The recent Iranian attacks targeting the bases of exiled Kurdish opposition groups in the Kurdistan Region are also a factor driving the strikes, particularly in the west of the country.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted bases of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) near Erbil’s Koya and Komala in Sulaimani’s Zargwez with missiles and drones on Monday, killing at least two and injuring eight others.

Iranian-Kurdish opposition groups based in the Kurdistan Region have waged an on-and-off armed war against the Iranian government since 1979.

General strikes have been held across Rojhelat in the past two months, with the first i taking place two days after Mahsa (Zhina) Amini’s death while in the custody of Iran’s morality police.

Amini’s death ignited an unprecedented nationwide protest movement that has brought Iranians from all corners together to call for the overthrow of the Islamic regime.

The Iranian authorities have threatened to take more extreme approaches against the protesters if the demonstrations continue.

Videos circulated on social media on Tuesday, showing festivities between students and security forces at a university in Tehran.

Tehran has violent mostly peacefully cracked down on the protests, killing at least 344 protesters and bystanders, including 52 children, according to the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA).

The Times of Israel adds:
Iranian security forces rubbed out at least two protesters Tuesday, a rights group said, as demonstrations sparked by Mahsa Amini’s death swelled on the anniversary of a bloody 2019 crackdown.

As darkness fell, more people emerged onto the streets of the capital, some of them gathering around bonfires and chanting "Death to the dictator," according to the 1500tasvir social media monitor.

"The government forces have directly opened fire in most of the cities where uprisings have taken place, such as Sanandaj, Kamyaran and Kermanshah," Hengaw told AFP.

"Two people have been killed by direct fire from government forces in Sanandaj and Kamyaran," it said, adding that it was trying to confirm reports that more protesters were killed.

"This year is the year of blood, Seyed Ali will be toppled," a large crowd chanted outside a Tehran metro station, in a video verified by AFP, referring to Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei
...the very aged actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini...
Workers downed tools and university students boycotted classes in Amini’s home province of Kurdistan, in western Iran, Hengaw said.

In the province’s flashpoint city of Sanandaj, protesters were seen burning tires in a street and chanting anti-government slogans, in other online footage.

"Woman, life, freedom" and "Man, homeland, prosperity," chanted male and female students at Islamic Azad University in the northwestern city of Tabriz, in a video published by 1500tasvir.

Striking steel workers were seen gathering in a car park in the historic city of Isfahan, in other footage shared by 1500tasvir. AFP was unable to immediately verify the videos.
