[NYP] Three weeks before the implosion of FTX, its disgraced founder Sam Bankman-Fried bad-mouthed a rival crypto mogul at an investor conference in Saudi Arabia — an indiscretion that sources say may have triggered his downfall, The Post has learned. We crypto ponzi-scheme thieves have honor. You are a simple democrat fund raiser without honor.
The 30-year-old Bankman-Fried — whose FTX fund filed for bankruptcy on Friday, obliterating his $16 billion personal fortune — had traveled to Riyadh for the annual "Davos in the Desert" financial summit on Oct. 25 — Oct.27, where he was angling to raise money from some of the world’s deep-pocketed investors. Answer is NO Bankman-Fried. We see what you did there.
But in private meetings at the event, Bankman-Fried, known as "SBF" in crypto circles, raised eyebrows as he "trashed" ChangPeng Zhao — the China-born CEO of Binance who, in addition to being one of Bankman-Fried’s early backers, is a highly respected tech founder in the region. CZ is highly respected. Bankman-Fried gives global crypto-ponzi scheme very bad name.
That’s despite the fact that Zhao — known as "CZ" among crypto enthusiasts with a net worth of $17.4 billion, according to Forbes — was at the conference, too. When Middle East investors tipped off Zhao that Bankman-Fried had slammed him behind his back, Zhao was furious, according to a crypto observer. Crypto ponzi-scheme is one thing. Short-term political fund raising is yet another. You Bankman-Fried, ruin it for everyone.
"He pulled the pin out of the grenade on this trip," a source said of Bankman-Fried’s trash-talking of Zhao.
CZ never liked you anyway. You are punk. Nutcase, doper girlfriend is punk also.

Now we know why Tom Brady decided not to retire. He lost his azz to Bankman and did commercials on TV which could land him in trouble...maybe. His wife made some investments as well.
[Fort Worth Star-Telegram] A 25-year-old man either jumped or climbed onto a moving 18-wheeler before starting to dance, authorities in Texas said. But when the semitrailer traveling south on the Eastex Freeway passed underneath a bridge, the dancing man slammed into the overpass and was knocked off the vehicle, according to a Nov. 14 news release from the Houston Police Department.
He landed on the freeway below. First responders were called to the scene near the Tuam Street bridge at about 11:35 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10. The man was rushed to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the news release. Authorities said they believe the man might have been recording himself as he danced atop the truck. A video shared on Facebook shows the man dancing on the semitrailer before the fatal incident.
[Garowe] Microsoft founder and American billionaire Bill Gates is in Kenya for a business trip. Gates is set to meet government officials and other stakeholders in the private sector in a bid to fish for markets for American companies trading in the Genetically Modified Orgasm sector.
I’m pretty sure that’s a typo...
The tech billionaire is expected to tour Makueni County where he will be hosted by Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr.
His travel entourage reveals that he will also visit the national and local leaders, partners, and grantees and also meet with regional scientists and innovators.
Gates will announce Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's commitment to supporting new innovations and ingenuity aimed at improving health, food security, and gender equality in African countries.
The Gates Foundation’s flagship agricultural program, the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, works to transition farmers away from traditional seeds and crops to patented seeds, fossil-fuel-based fertilizers, and other inputs to grow commodity crops for the global market.
Together with the foundation leaders, they will visit and learn from farmers who are using digital tools to help with climate adaptation, see how primary healthcare clinics have delivered care during the pandemic and helped address ongoing threats like HIV, TB, and malaria.
Gates will also participate in a conversation with university students at the University of Nairobi on Thursday, to learn and share perspectives on how innovative tools and approaches can bolster efforts to increase food security and support climate adaptation across Africa.
The founder of the Bill and Melinda Foundation last visited the country in 2016.

All that money, and he’s using it to make the world more fragile and less resilient instead of the other way round. I seem to all India threw him out for being counterproductive, not too long ago...

I noted the article said today's two delays were due to a fuel leak (again) and a computer/internet connection.
So they launched it before anything else broke!
I am happy for the progress on the space exploration front.

So you spent multiple billions to launch, once on an expendable booster, about one and a half times the payload of a 120 million or so falcon heavy launch.
#13
Billions aside, it's proof of concept. If something needs to be nudged, now you can launch early and cheap with commercial boosters at lower cost. And you don't need a fancy penetrator, just mass. Hell, radioactive waste makes a good heavy cue ball to send something on another path.

M. darlingest, I know what all those words mean, but that particular combination makes no sense to me whatsoever, unless it’s a fancy way to say black box. Perhaps Fred or one of the moderators will poke their head in with the answer.
[BenarNews] The United States and its partners will offer $20 billion to help wean Indonesia, the world’s biggest coal exporter, away from fossil fuels and transition to renewable energy, U.S. President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. You're a lyin' dog-faced pony soldier. Of course Corn Pop is a real person.... announced Tuesday on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali.
The agreement, which an American official called "the single largest country specific climate investment partnership," will see Indonesia committing to move up its target for net zero emissions by 10 years, to 2050.
Since that is multiple American administrations in the future, no need for Indonesia to worry its pretty little head about delivering until halfway to never instead of three quarters of the way. And in the meantime, look at all that pretty money! ...or am I perhaps being overly cynical?
"Indonesia has shown tremendous leadership and ambition throughout the development of this partnership," Biden said in a statement.
"The resulting new and accelerated targets demonstrate how countries can dramatically cut emissions and increase renewable energy while advancing a commitment to creating quality jobs and protecting livelihoods and communities."
The so-called Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) deal, led by the U.S. and Japan, was signed by Canada, Denmark, the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... , La Belle France, Germany, Italia, Norway, and the United Kingdom.
Coal, the dirtiest of fossil fuels, powers 65 percent of the energy needs of Indonesia, Southeast Asia’s largest and most populous country.
Indonesia is the world’s eighth most polluting country with 2 percent of global greenhouse-gas emissions to its name, according to the World Resources Institute.
The energy sector accounts for nearly half of the country’s emissions, with automotive emissions making up about one-fifth of its overall emissions, according to the Ministry of Industry.
Under the agreement with the U.S. and its partners, Indonesia will work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support affected communities by shifting its projected emissions peak forward by 7 years, to 2030.
Indonesia also agreed to cap power sector emissions at 290 megatons of CO2 in 2030, down from 357 megatons. The Southeast Asian country also agreed to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy so that it comprises at least 34 percent of all electricity generation by the same year.
"If you look at the investment values that are brought together under the terms of this partnership, it is arguably the single largest country specific climate investment partnership," said John Morton, the U.S. Department of Treasury’s first climate counselor.
Morton called the emissions reductions from those targets "significant."
"Just to put those numbers in perspective. Three hundred megatons is the equivalent of taking half the U.S. passenger cars off the road for one year," Morton told a presser in Bali.
"And two gigatons is equivalent to about 15 percent of global power sector emissions in any given year."
Luhut Pandjaitan, the coordinating minister for investment and maritime affairs, said Indonesia had an important role to play in avoiding the worst impact of climate change, as the world’s largest archipelagic nation.
"Indonesia is committed to a low carbon economy, energy transition and we believe that we must not sacrifice our economy, but that we must also build a more sustainable economy for the future generation," he said at a news conference in Bali on Tuesday.
"I promised my oldest granddaughter I will make policy that benefits the next generation. She is the strongest reminder I have," he said.
