De Blasio aides urged allies to attack police unions over tactics
[NYPOST] Mayor de Blasio’s aides urged political allies to attack the police unions for their tactics just days before the mayor met with five police union leaders to hammer out a truce, sources revealed Tuesday.

One elected official told The Post that de Blasio’s aides reached out after the funeral for Det. Rafael Ramos in which dozens of rank-and-file officers turned their backs on the mayor as he spoke.

The aides requested public criticisms of the “union’s tactics,” the source said.

De Blasio’s government affairs officials also privately began reaching out to allies as recently as this Monday – just one day before his peace pipe pow-wow with union leaders at the police academy, DNAinfo.com first reported Tuesday.

“City Hall wanted me to blast the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association for turning their backs on him,” one legislator told the web site. “They called up Monday, said they were calling all of us, and that it was our obligation to stand up defending the mayor.”

One City Council insider said only that the administration was seeking to circle the wagons amid a growing rift with NYPD rank-and-file.

“He gave us talking points, but it was very much a unity message,” the insider said. “They’re not asking us to defend them against [PBA President] Pat Lynch. They’re trying to keep everyone in line and have a unity message.”

City Hall officials strongly dismissed claims that they were seeking attack dogs, saying the only outreach that was made was in a bid to unite a fractured city.

“The Administration did not ask elected officials to ‘attack’ anyone,” said City Hall spokeswoman Marti Adams. “As we’ve often done, we reached out to public officials to ask that they stand with the Mayor and his requests for New Yorkers to do all they can to respect and support the families of Officers Ramos and Liu as the city deals with this unconscionable tragedy.”

What we learned about the American voter in 2014
[POLITICO] 1. The Democrats’ working-class-whites problem is serious.
That could possibly be because as a party they're actively hostile to working-class whites. You know, those people they're prone to refer to as "crackers" or "racists," that sort of thing.
After two years of warnings about Republicans’ woeful performance among nonwhite voters in 2012, the midterms showed that Democrats have their own significant demographic vulnerability: working-class white voters. Republicans won white voters without a college degree by 30 points, 64 percent to 34 percent, according to exit polls, equal to their margin in the wave election of 2010. Polling data show that support for President Barack Obama among working-class whites has dropped 8 points since 2010.
They're happy as clams in chowder to be pulling 96 percent of 12 percent of the population. They don't need the votes of any damned racists.
A new and potentially more popular steward of the Democratic Party — most notably, Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as the Smartest Woman in the World and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Edward Livingstone ...
— might boost those numbers. But some say the party needs to embrace economic populism after an administration that has prioritized the Affordable Care Act and the environment over a platform focused on wages and other “pocketbook” issues.
They might also think real hard about not calling them "racists" at the drop of a red-green-and-black hat.
“Democrats have chosen to focus on issues that the liberal base of the party really likes, but the working-class person in West Virginia or Arkansas or Louisiana or Alaska doesn’t necessarily identify with,” said political analyst Charlie Cook.
It may be that the working class folk have more on their minds than race. They may not even like Communists.
Cook pointed to those four states — where Republicans captured Democratic-held Senate seats this year — to argue that Democrats are a “marginalized party” across much of the country.
Who needs a bunch of racists that probably haven't even been to college?
“This is more than just a bad year for Democrats,” he said. “The challenge that the Democratic Party has in parts of the country appears to be even more formidable than it was two years ago.”
Things will likely get worse now that it's open season on whites. Anyone for a game of Knockout?
Added former Rep. Dan Glickman (D-Kan.): “Democrats really gave up on small towns and exurban America.”
Yeah. They should check their privilege.
And even though Republicans have yet to make significant inroads among minorities, the GOP could make up for those losses by further enhancing its performance among white voters.
It shouldn't be too hard to do. Whites aren't good enough for the Dems unless they're worth seven digits or better.
“Given what’s happening with working-class voters and how disenchanted they are with the Democratic Party … Republicans still have a chance to win the presidency without [making] significant changes to policy,” said GOP consultant Ford O’Connell.
Stick to Republican principles and they'll do okay.
Democrats won’t necessarily be able to count on the same level of minority turnout in 2016 without Obama. At the same time, Mitt Romney in 2012 won a larger share of the white vote than any GOP nominee since George H.W. Bush and still lost the presidency.
Requiring voter ID might cut the number of precincts turning out better than 100 percent. It's racist, of course...

#1  Change the voting day from first Tuesday in November to the second Tuesday n April and we will see more voter turnout and it will not be good for Dems.

#2  The Democrats have fostered division and racism. They have cobbled together a coalition of every extremist splinter group. They at war with the mainstream white middle class. So they have reaped what they sown. So if they have lost the vote of the white middle class....I for one...

#3  Dems don't hardly need the working class, white or not; they've got a lock on the non-working class, which is within the margin of fraud of a majority.

#4  There is and only will be one main issue for the typical voter.

Money...

... and how much is in their wallet.

#5  Added former Rep. Dan Glickman (D-Kan.): “Democrats really gave up on small towns and exurban America.”

Foodstampolopia - The massive urban clustering of the entitlement crowd is the key. Why waste precious time and effort with 'onesies and twosies' out in flyover. Easier pickings for Feder [EEOC Compliance] jobs as well. Feed them first, then the gov't job..... back on the plantation in no time.

#6  Wish I could agree that the Quislingrats are committing suicide...in reality, all they need to do is sit and wait for for the GOP's Establishment wing to do it first.

#7  Ricky, the GOP establishment (aka RiNOs) see themselves as passengers in the same boat as the "Quislingcrats". They don't want to go down with the ship either and will do everything necessary to keep it afloat, preferably with themselves in charge but keeping it floating in anyway is the first priority.

De Blasio re-appoints ‘set ‘em free’ Brooklyn judge
[NYPOST] Mayor de Blasio on Wednesday re-appointed the turn-'em-loose judge who freed a gang member charged with threatening the NYPD with copy-cat killings following the slayings of two cops in Brooklyn, The Post has learned.

Sources said Brooklyn Judge Laura Johnson scored another year on the bench from de Blasio, who questioned her wisdom after The Post revealed how she ignored a prosecution request to set $250,000 bail for Devon Coley last week.

"While the judge's decision was in compliance with the letter of the state's laws on bail -- which focus almost exclusively on risk of flight -- our judges must to take into account all of the circumstances that contribute to the risk of flight, and that certainly includes the seriousness of the offense," de Blasio said at the time.

A de Blasio front man refused to immediately confirm Johnson's re-appointment, saying information would be released "in the next hour or so."

Johnson, a former high-ranking Legal Aid lawyer, was first named to the bench in January 2013 by then-Mayor Bloomberg, who re-appointed her before leaving office last year.

Coley, 18, was busted for posting a photo on Facebook that showed a gunman firing into an NYPD cruiser, just hours after cops Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were killed the same way on Dec. 20.

He also wrote the chilling phrase "73Nextt," in apparent reference to the 73rd Precinct that covers his Brownsville neighborhood.

#1  Similar stuff this week in Massachusetts:
Two Boston Police officers were attacked by a group of seven people on Monday night while trying to serve an arrest warrant, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office...the officers were attacked when they went to the apartment Monday morning and tried to arrest 19-year-old Woobenson Morisset on violating the terms of his release in three pending cases. One case included a charge of assault and battery of a police officer. The Suffolk County prosecutor said Morisset is accused of punching an officer in December 2013 who was trying to arrest him for an attempted home break-in...

The officers were sent to the hospital. Woobenson was released on $500 bail, nothing was said in the article about his one-year-old charge of assaulting another police officer.
Prosecutors say they will seek additional charges of felony assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Before the arraignment, Lorcen Morisset told news reporters that the group didn't attack the two officers.

"That's a lie. We didn't touch them," he said outside court.
