-Lurid Crime Tales-
Mom confesses she killed autistic child
PEKIN, Ill. - A woman accused of killing her autistic daughter testified Friday that she attempted to suffocate the 3-year-old with a pillow three days before she succeeded with a plastic garbage bag. Karen McCarron said she couldn't go through with it using the pillow. When prosecutor Kevin Johnson asked her how long she held the bag over the toddler's head soon after, she replied about two minutes — until little Katie stopped struggling.

In a videotaped confession played in court Thursday, McCarron said she began having thoughts of hurting her daughter a year before the May 2006 slaying but put them out of her mind. On the day of the killing, though, the thoughts were stronger than ever. "They were so intense," McCarron said.

McCarron, 39, has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to murder, obstructing justice and concealment of a homicidal death. She was found mentally fit to stand trial, but a medical expert hired by her attorneys has said she was insane at the time of the killing.
Aren't they always? And not sane enough during the prior year to ask for help, either?
McCarron, a former pathologist, testified she felt responsible for Katie's autism because she allowed the child to get vaccinated. Some people believe autism is caused by a mercury-containing preservative once used in childhood vaccines.
Rather have her die of some childhood disease?
Thank you to all the thimerosal ninnies.
It "brought me a great deal of guilt," she said.

Using a plastic bag and the prosecutor's arm, McCarron demonstrated for jurors in Tazewell County Circuit Court how she placed a bag over her daughter's head and pushed her to her knees, the (Peoria) Journal Star and the Pekin Daily Times reported.

"Were you able to see her face as she fell to the floor?" Johnson asked.

"Yes. I could see her face through the trash bag," McCarron answered.

McCarron said she listened for a heartbeat after Katie stopped struggling. "I just put my ear to her chest," McCarron said. "I heard one, then I heard nothing."

The child had scratch marks on her head and bite marks were found inside her mouth and on the bag as she apparently tried to free herself, according to other testimony.

The taped confession was made while McCarron was hospitalized after attempting suicide, investigators said. Wearing a hospital gown, she appears sitting on a bed next to her husband, Paul McCarron. Karen McCarron said she killed her child hoping to "fix her" and give her peace in heaven.
I'm sure she's up there right now thinking "Thanks for sacrificing your earthly existance for me, Mom!"
"Maybe I could fix her this way, and in heaven she would be complete," she said on the tape.
Maybe.
Karen McCarron said on the videotape that she took her daughter's body back to her own house and put her in bed. She then went to the store, bought ice cream and returned to her mother's home to get the garbage bag because, "if things get bad, their house would be searched."

Interviewers asked McCarron if she knew what she did was criminally wrong. "I have enough education to know that," she answered.
Good thing we have education or nobody would know these things.
Obviously passed kindergarten then.
McCarron told police she felt like a failure because of the child's autism and was sad and hurt because the child couldn't interact with her very well. "I loved Katie very much, but I hated the autism so, so much," McCarron said. "I hated what it was doing to her. ... but mostly I just wanted autism out of my life."

#1  I don't think she fits in or society. It is tempting to ask for volunteers to asphyxiate her with a bag, but then what do we do with th volunteer. Just send her to Peshewar, she'll fit in fine. Should be plenty of work for a pathologist. Everybody wins.

#2  give her a plastic bag hat, and at some random time, someone should pull it down and tie it at her neck, just so she "has peace in hell heaven"

#4  There have been so many studies refuting the claimed thimerosal-autism link that it should be criminal to even bring it up in public again. Here was one that came out last week:
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=4099059&page=1
I was shocked to see that even more money has been wasted on these studies.

This woman was facing a difficult life and opted for murdering a helpless child. She deserves the maximum penalty.

#5  Not to excuse what Mrs. McCarron did, nor to argue for ameliorating the sentence, but being the parent of any handicapped child takes a lot more than normal parenting; some people just can't handle it. There was a story of just such a situation here last year The mother was wise enough to turn the child over to the authorities... and then the foster parents ended up killing him when he was four. (Yes, the foster parents were both jailed for it.) Clearly, having medical training doesn't guarantee the ability to think clearly.

#6  "some people just can't handle it"
My wife works in a residential facility for kids with severe disabilities including severe autism. The tab for the round-the-clock care and special educational effort is typically picked up by the home state and school district. Parents are free to visit any time or not at all.

#7  My wife and I have been foster-parents for some pretty messed-up kids, including some with autism, bipolar disorder, and others. You can't do it alone. These children will totally exhaust you, mentally, physically, and emotionally. Unfortunately, society considers anyone who asks for help as a failure, when in actuality they're the sane ones. This mother needed help. Now she needs a jail cell.

Man sodomizes stepson in revenge for raping his daughter
A father sodomized his 18-year-old stepson to avenge the teenager's alleged rape of the man's 8-year-old daughter, police said. The father, 32, turned himself into to authorities on Friday and was released from jail Saturday after posting a $17,500 bond. He faces a charge of aggravated sexual assault.
What country was this in?
The stepson was arrested Jan. 2 and charged with suspicion of aggravated sexual assault. Police say the father caught him assaulting his daughter, and a subsequent examination at a hospital revealed the girl had been sodomized.

Sgt. Cheryl Johnson, supervisor of the Fort Worth sex crimes unit, said in a story posted Saturday on the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Web site that people need to "allow the criminal justice system to work for them."

"This is a very unique case, but we have a criminal justice system in place, and no one can take the law into their own hands," Johnson said.

When the stepson was arrested, the man warned his wife not to get the teenager out of jail. She posted bond for the teen's release. When he called home Jan. 3 after getting released, the father took the call and picked him up, police said.
Some parents show less judgment in these matters than their kids. In this case it's better to leave the kid in jail. Sometimes for more than one reason. Even before the outcome can be known, this is one of them.
Instead of taking the teenager home, the Arlington man drove to an abandoned house in Fort Worth, beat his stepson with a baseball bat and sodomized him with a metal tool, police said.

After the man left, the stepson found a pay phone and called police, who searched the abandoned home. "We did find evidence at the scene to corroborate our victim's story," Johnson said.
Eww.

The way the legal system works in the US, it may work out better this way. I'd say sentence each of them, then the two can negotiate how many years to remove off of both of each other's sentences.
Ummm, no. Both committed crimes, both do the time. Revenge is the one thing our system has to prevent, or else we're no better than the jihadis and fools we're fighting elsewhere.

#1  ..the man's 8-year-old daughter..

Unfortunately, the innocent 8 year old will be society's human sacrifice to their moral superiors who insist we accept these things. I'm just way too old fashion. No amount of time is going to change the creature that did this. Someone of this predatory nature is not fit among society any more than a feral mountain lion walking around the neighborhood which is no where near the edge of any forest or mountain.

#2  8 year old daughter...

The kid will be known as "short eyes" in prison, and his life will be a justifiable hell. The father will be known as a hero who avenged his little girl. No comparison in how they'll be treated.

#4  I disagree. Frankly, I'm tired of rape. Even revenge rape.

I won't be drawn into a discussion of the merits of this case or any other. Pops should have collected his daughter from school and left the state long before Sonny got bailed out by the halfwit wife.

I feel no joy, glee, or self-satisfaction from thinking of the rape horrors that go on in most prisons. It's dreadful and any of you who have fathers, sons, or brothers ought to say so.

Quite so. Pops should have put a bullet between junior's eyes and spared us the spectacle of the kid getting off when a sympathetic jury hears his case.

A divorce is first in order. Then a lawyer to rake her and her son over the coals over any little thing that the attorney can find on both the ex-wife and son to cover any and all mental anguished caused the 8 year old child. In other words, work em over in the courts until they wish they had never been born for this.

Police find that 'holy sand' was drugs
A man dressed as a priest caught at Amsterdam's airport with three kilos of cocaine under his vestments claimed to police that his packages contained "holy sand", Dutch police said. Security officials conducting a normal security check at Schiphol airport last year. Police stopped the man at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport as he was transiting on a flight from South America, Robert Van Aapel, a spokesman for the Dutch Royal Military Police told CNN by phone Saturday.

"He refused to be searched saying that he was a religious person and it was not allowed," Van Aapel said. "However, this is normal procedure so our officers insisted. They asked him again and after the second time they carried out the search and discovered the man had packs strapped to his legs below his priest's clothes. He told us they contained holy sand," he said.

He said the man, who is aged around 40 and a Bolivian national, was arrested Thursday after arriving in to the airport on a flight from Lima, Peru. He was attempting to transit on a flight to Milan when he was apprehended with the cocaine, worth around €105,000 ($155,000).

The Bolivian appeared in court Friday on charges of drug smuggling, Van Aapel said. Dutch police are trying to establish if the man is a real priest after he claimed to be a senior member of the clergy in the Bolivian capital La Paz, he added.

#2  The simple solution is a pill that can be taken by those who do not want their organs taken away against their will. Otherwise harmless, it would make the organs useless for transplant.

Imagine the hysterical anger in which politicians and doctors would rage against such a pill and try to outlaw it, because it thwarts the right of the state to steal human organs.

Fifth Column
Codepinko About Gets Its Butt Kicked In Miami
Protesters demanding the arrest of Luis Posada Carriles called off a planned demonstration Little Havana after they were confronted by supporters of the anti-Castro Cuban militant.

Women from an anti-war group known as Codepink had planned to discuss with reporters their campaign against Posada -- who is wanted by the Cuban and Venezuelan government on charges that he plotted the deadly 1976 bombing of a Cuban jetliner while in Caracas.

About 15 Codepink activists were met in front of a Little Havana restaurant yesterday by some 200 supporters of Posada. Several of the Posada supporters charged at the activists' truck.

The truck drove away and the meeting had to take place at a separate location.

Posada is free after a judge dismissed the government's charges that he lied to investigators in a bid to become a naturalized US citizen. He still faces a deportation order.

India-Pakistan
Free alcohol, hangovers, bisexual friends and a girl called Boozie Suzie
His antics at Oxford University would shock people in Pakistan awaiting Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's return to take over the political dream shaped by his murdered mother Benazir.

The 19-year-old's preparation for his role in one of the world's strictest Muslim states has certainly been unconventional.
Apparently his mother was quite the libertine in her college days. As are millions of college students around the world.
Orthodox Muslims will be surprised to see the new leader of the Pakistani People's Party with his arms slung casually around two girls, one of whom declares herself as "bisexual" on a social networking website.

Osama's son wants British visa to live with granny bride
LONDON: Osama bin Laden's 26-year-old son has sought a British visa so that he and his granny bride can live in the country and have a surrogate child.

British Embassy officials in Cairo have interviewed Omar bin Laden who plans to settle down with his 52-year-old wife Jane Felix-Browne at her home in Cheshire, have a child through a surrogate mother and work as "peace activists", the 'Daily Mail' reported on Sunday.

The son of the world's most wanted man and five-time divorcee Jane, now Zaina Al Sabah bin Laden, have given the British Embassy in Cairo -- where they are currently living -- access to their bank accounts to allow checks on authenticity of their relationship.

Omar has recently divorced his first wife, the mother of his two-year-old son, to prove that his marriage to Jane is nothing but "genuine".

"The embassy staff are all very friendly and they are doing all the checks. It could take a while for the visa to come through but there's no reason in law why Omar and I should not be able to live in the United Kingdom together.

"It is very easy to get a tourist visa. Other members of Omar's family have had them, but we have applied for a settlement visa. We would stay in Cheshire where I have a house.

"We have been told there will not be a problem as long as we can provide the original documents from his divorce from his first wife. And that should be done in a week," Jane was quoted by the British newspaper as saying.

The couple got married in September 2006 following a holiday romance in Egypt.

However, when contacted, the British Embassy in Egypt has refused to comment on the matter.

Maybe they could practice their peace activity in the Sudan for several years before the VISA is approved. I sure his family owns property there.
