Government-education censorship alliance is the greatest threat to democracy
[FoxNews] Revelations that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) created "disinformation" groups at Stanford University and the University of Washington to censor political speech leading up to the 2020 election should outrage and alarm every American. Free exchange of ideas is the lifeblood of a democracy and the unholy alliance between the government and higher education institutions must be fully exposed and broken up to preserve our Constitutional Republic.

Under this partnership, higher education institutions acted as conduits between the government and Big Tech to remove speech that government officials found unacceptable to achieve their political ends. Researchers would review ’misinformation’ reports submitted by federal officials, compile lists of offending posts, and then submit them to social media companies with specific recommendations. These recommendations reduced the post's discoverability and led to shadow bans and even suspension of accounts. Approximately 35 percent of the content they flagged was removed from social media platforms.

The effort targeted those who held opinions that went contrary to prevailing narratives, especially regarding corruption allegations against Biden, the integrity of the 2020 election, and COVID mask and vaccine policies. Countless Americans were censored, silenced, and shadow-banned during the 2020 election cycle. It was part of a concerted effort to exert control over our behavior and dictate what We the People are allowed to say, see, and hear. And it worked.

The House Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government and the Twitter Files have exposed the far-reaching impact of the Election Integrity Partnership between the government, Stanford, and the University of Washington. The 2020 election could have been much different if factual information wasn’t covered up. Just consider how one in six Biden voters surveyed stated that they would not have voted or changed their vote if they had known about the Hunter Biden laptop scandal and the Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. ‘This Is A Man ThatDoes Not Seem Demented’...
corruption allegations.

'Point of No Return Has Passed': Here's Why Kyiv Won't Sit Down with the Kremlin
[News18] When delegations from Moscow and Kyiv met in Belarus for secretive peace talks weeks after Russia invaded Ukraine, it took Ukraine’s lead negotiator less than an hour to lose hope.

To end the war, Russia had dispatched a former culture minister — infamous for a PhD plagiarism scandal — and a firebrand nationalist who had recently faced down sexual harassment allegations.

"It was about 45 minutes into the first round of talks that the intellectual level of these people became clear — their lack of understanding that the war was a war," Mykhaylo Podolyak told AFP during a recent interview in Kyiv.

"These people were not prepared to negotiate. They were just technical staff with nearly no influence in Russia. They came, read out certain ultimatums, and that’s it!" the presidential advisor added.

Almost two years after those meetings collapsed, there are growing calls for Ukrainian officials to return to negotiations with the Kremlin to hash out a diplomatic end to the fighting.

Those pleas are coming in the wake of a disappointing Ukrainian counteroffensive that — despite stockpiles of Western weapons — failed to win back territory in the south or east.

And they are building as concerns grow over the West’s commitment to supporting Ukraine, and disruptions to ammunition deliveries.

But for Ukraine, talks are off the table.

#1  well, actually, Ukraine has won some territory but it isn't that much

deepest advance is about 6 miles in the South

this year's UK counteroffensive would have done much better with more equipment, esp tanks and mine clearing stuff

Over 600 Australian leaders unite against 482% rise in antisemitism
[Jpost] "When it comes to antisemitism, there is no room for equivocation. There is no fence-sitting. It is our duty to address and tackle it," Lachlan Murdoch said.

Responding to a staggering 482% increase in antisemitic incidents following the October 7 Hamas massacres in Israel, over 600 Australian leaders from diverse sectors signed a public statement denouncing hatred and discrimination on Tuesday.

This large-scale, unprecedented movement has been extensively reported on by The Australian Financial Review and involves both Jewish and non-Jewish leaders, highlighting the significant rise in antisemitism amid the escalating conflict in Gaza. AFR’s front page on Tuesday was dedicated to this initiative, with a lead story titled “Not the Australia I know.”

The statement, which was published in major Australian newspapers, identified a “482% rise in antisemitic incidents [that] has swept Australia’s shores,” calling attention to the offensive language, vandalism, and harassment happening in public places like the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne’s Flinders Street Station.

AUSTRALIAN MINORITIES SPEAK OUT
The signatories unequivocally stated, “Racism in all its forms is deplorable and abhorrent.”

Diane Smith-Gander, a prominent Australian business leader and advocate for inclusion, stated, “I never imagined an Australia where there would be a need for 600 business and community leaders to call out ugly ideas that are dangerous to our way of life.”

Lachlan Murdoch, chairman of Newscorp, an influential global media company, reiterated these sentiments :“When it comes to antisemitism, there is no room for equivocation. There is no fence-sitting. It is our duty to address and tackle it.”

Jamie Garis, managing director of Luminis Partners, emphasized, “Racism is abhorrent in any form but at this time, with an alarming increase in antisemitism, it’s important to call that out specifically as something that cannot and should not be tolerated.”

Peter Yates, chairman of AIA Australia, reflected on his personal experiences with discrimination, underscoring that “racial intolerance is completely unacceptable.”

Georgina Downer, director of the Menzies Institute, expressed her concerns about the spread of antisemitism, “As Australians who benefit from a tolerant and multicultural society, we must wholeheartedly reject antisemitism in all its forms.”

The movement also addresses educational settings, with Victorian Education Minister Ben Carroll issuing a warning against state school teachers participating in pro-Palestine advocacy, emphasizing the importance of political neutrality in educational institutions.

Europe
Ireland Declares Asking An Immigrant To Stop Stabbing You A Hate Crime
[Bee] DUBLIN — Ireland's Prime Minister Leo Varadkar announced that under the nation's new hate speech laws, asking an immigrant to stop stabbing you will now be considered a hate crime.

"We will not tolerate racist slurs such as, 'Please, stop stabbing me, I'm dying'. That sort of hate has no home here in Ireland," said Varadkar. "The vile, xenophobic backlash against people stabbing people ends today."

According to sources, the new hate speech law will also require those being stabbed to keep their eyes closed so as not to develop any sort of prejudice against the attacker. In addition to outlawing whining about being stabbed, the law will also apply to protesting against someone stabbing children. "If a person's culture dictates that they need to stab children from Irish culture, who are we to say which culture is right?" said Varadkar. "Asking people to assimilate into a non-stabbing culture is xenophobia at its absolute worst."

Citizens across Ireland have debated the merits of the new law, however no one outside of Ireland could understand a single word of what was said. Famed mixed martial artist Conor McGregor has become the voice of those opposed to dystopian government overreach, openly defying the Prime Minister to arrest him. Irish police have reportedly attempted to arrest McGregor, but McGregor eluded capture by doing his weird little "Billionaire Strut".

At publishing time, the Prime Minister had announced that for next Saint Patrick's Day the government will hand out stickers to citizens reading, "Kill me, I'm Irish."

Government Corruption
Sam Faddis - 'Why the CIA No Longer Works‐and How to Fix It'
[Imprimis] The following is adapted from a talk delivered at Hillsdale College on October 3, 2023, during a conference on "U.S. Intelligence: History and Controversies."

We need the CIA, but we also need to recognize the uncomfortable reality that the CIA is not performing at the level we require. It is not keeping us safe. It must be repaired, and it must be repaired quickly.

The CIA was created after World War II with one overriding primary mission—to prevent a reoccurrence of what happened at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. We were never going to allow an enemy to surprise us on that scale again. We were never going to find ourselves blind regarding a threat of that magnitude and immediacy. We would be forewarned and forearmed.

Then came 9/11. Members of Al Qaeda hijacked four airliners. They crashed three of them into their targets. They were prevented from succeeding with the fourth only by the heroism of the brave American passengers.

Al Qaeda was not some unknown entity. It had been around for years. Osama Bin Laden had threatened to attack us on our own soil for years. Al Qaeda had blown up two of our embassies in East Africa. Al Qaeda had almost sunk the USS Cole in Yemen. Al Qaeda had tried once before to take down the World Trade Center.

Yet we had not a single source inside that organization capable of warning us of the 9/11 attacks that would kill almost 3,000 Americans.

On May 2, 2011, U.S. special operations personnel attacked a compound in Pakistan and killed the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. That operation in and of itself was clearly a success. But the fact that it took us almost ten years after 9/11 to find and kill Bin Laden should give us pause.

Bin Laden fully understood the technical capabilities of American intelligence. After his escape from Afghanistan, he established himself in a compound with no internet service. He had no cell phone. He communicated with his organization via a courier system and dealt with those couriers face to face. There were no emails, text messages, or phone calls for us to intercept.

Finding Bin Laden meant getting a source inside Al Qaeda at a level high enough to know his physical location. It took almost a decade for the CIA, with all its resources, to acquire such a source, even though this was probably the CIA’s single highest priority.

May help explain or confirm the 'intelligence gaps' theory of 7 October 2023.

Orwell and Monroe got it right
[Washington Examiner] George Orwell, call your office. That’s my initial and slightly out-of-date response to news stories about the Biden administration’s efforts to stamp out "misinformation." It’s an interesting irony that covert censorship should be undertaken enthusiastically by those who call themselves "liberal" or "progressive" and who claim the opposition would threaten the survival of liberal democracy.

But Democrats seem unembarrassed by his reelection campaign’s program for blocking "misinformation" on outfits like Facebook and Google. It’s being run, as my Washington Examiner colleague Byron York points out, by the same folks who systematically pressured social media "to curb the spread of misinformation" during the COVID pandemic.

Some of that pushback is designed to improve Biden’s dreadful job rating on the economy, and many in media are happy to help. As radio talk host Erick Erickson writes, "Every major news organization except Fox News has done multiple stories on how great the economy is."

But as numbers cruncher Nate Silver points out, citing an egregious Washington Post story co-authored by reliable liberal cheerleader Taylor Lorenz using an apples-and-oranges comparison of McDonald’s, the administration line is contradicted by voters' own eyes and government statistics: inflation is up 16% and personal consumption expenditures up 25% since Biden took office. No American under 60 has experienced such inflation in their adult lifetimes, and they reasonably conclude that Biden’s gusher of government spending is at fault.
Taylor Lorenz is a vapid tool who doxxes critics and lies without shame
One reason is people have had some experience with the administration’s suppression of "misinformation" on COVID. Health officials Anthony Fauci and Francis Collins, for example, set about suppressing the theory that the pandemic resulted from a COVID virus leak from the lab in Wuhan, China, that their organizations had lavishly funded.

For a while, that suppression worked. The lab leak explanation was labeled a "conspiracy theory," and no one went back to examine Fauci’s support of Wuhan’s virus-strengthening "gain-of-function" research. Only in the past year have intelligence agencies and some science reporters determined that the lab leak is the likely, though not proven, source of the pandemic.

The government also clamped down hard on "misinformation" about mandatory masking and extended lockdowns initiated in this country. Once again, inconvenient truths were suppressed.

Thus, in February 2023, a leading research institution, Britain’s Cochrane Library, released a study of 78 randomized control trials with 610,000 participants that concluded, as the lead researcher put it, "there is just no evidence" that masking "made any difference" in the transmission of COVID.

Similarly, "there was never any science behind lockdowns — not a single study had ever been undertaken to measure their efficacy in stopping a pandemic," as Joseph Nocera and Bethany McLean write in New York magazine, in an excerpt from their new book The Big Fail.

Lockdowns originated in China (whose captive media reported them as successful) and were imposed after hospitals were swamped with elderly patients in Bergamo, Italy. Initially designed to prevent hospital overcrowding, they soon got extended indefinitely.

Democrat Support for Israel Is Beginning to Crumble
[Red State] In the wake of the anti-Israel protests that have been fracturing the Democrat base, the expected collapse of Democrat support for Israel is beginning.

As Ed wrote earlier today, the Biden Administration is signaling that its support for Israel is waning, although they insist that it isn’t. They have walked back their tweet that suggested Israel was committing atrocities and that a "permanent" cease-fire should be on the table.

"To continue down the path of terror, violence, killing, and war is to give Hamas what they seek." To my ears, this sounds like Biden is saying that Israel is engaged in terror, violence, killing, and war.

Whether you read it that way or not, it was clear that Biden was suggesting that the war had to stop prior to the elimination of Hamas. While the White House has walked this back, other Democrats are clearly pushing in this direction.

The latest example comes from more than a dozen Democrat Senators who met with Biden at the White House to express their reservations about the level of US support for Israel.

India-Pakistan
Amid the crisis in Gaza, people are calling for boycotting ‘Israeli’ goods. But do they work?
[Dawn] Empty restaurants or products being taken off shelves should not be seen as the end goal of boycotts.

Recently, McDonalds Pakistain found itself in the line of fire when the fast food chain’s Israeli franchise announced it was giving away thousands of free meals to the Israeli army, stirring debate on whether certain brands are culpable for the humanitarian catastrophe in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
The BDS — Boycott, Divest, and Sanction — movement is inherently a non-violent mostly peaceful movement that calls for the boycott of corporations "complicit in the oppression of Paleostinians." One such example is that of Hewlett-Packard (HP), which has been accused of aiding Israel’s surveillance of dissidents and Paleostinians in general through a biometric ID system. The BDS is a tactic more so than an organization and "works to end international support for Israel’s oppression of Paleostinians and pressure Israel to comply with international law".

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
The Odious Reasons Behind The World's Obsession With Gaza And The West Bank
[American Thinker] International aid to Gaza is the only process that ensures its survival. This rather strange situation has no equivalent in any other place in the world except for the scientists living in Antarctica. Gazans are the most welfare-dependent population in the known universe, producing nothing except a few vegetables. And yet nobody asks why. Let us be crystal clear that every last Gazan would go elsewhere in the world if this aid stopped. The answer lies in the fact that the world’s powers hate what Israel stands for and, believe it or not, that’s not its Jewishness: It is, instead, its contributions to the world and its citizens’ happiness.
producing nothing except a few vegetables. And terror
Don't forget the bitching, moaning, and hate.
When we look at Gaza objectively, it’s logical to ask how long this welfare state will continue. The answer: Until the UN, EU, and US decide this population has lost its usefulness. However, that won’t happen anytime soon. The scene has been set by US Secretary of State Blinken who insists that no Gazan be displaced. He wants the Israelis to propose a plan for returning Gaza to the rule of the corrupt Palestinian Authority ensconced in Ramallah. The American administration’s goal is a two-state solution consisting of Israel within the ’67 borders and an Arab state of Gaza and Judea/Samaria (aka the West Bank). The Muslims of Gaza are a tool to force this rearrangement.

To savvy people, the title "West Bank" gives away the game. Government employees and the mass media are under the illusion that Judea and Samaria are supposed to be the western provinces of Jordan. This is because Jordan, after nineteen years of rule (’48-’67), joined Syria and Egypt in the Six-Day War intended to eradicate the Jewish state and lost the "West Bank" to Israel. In fact, Judea and Samaria are Israel’s ancient heartland.

Given the area’s past and recent history, it would seem stupidly suicidal for Israel to ever return their heartland or Gaza to Arab rule. Nevertheless, most of the world has this as its plan for the region.

If Israel can be truncated, it can be brought to heel, for it will be unable to protect itself. Its continued existence will then be controlled by others rather than its own government. The advantage to this arrangement is that Israel would barely be able to breathe and would be unable to project any influence in the world or its own neighborhood. It would become the equivalent of Gaza with a few more college degrees.

From this analysis, we can deduce that the name of the game is to destroy Israel’s independent action. An independent Israel is undesirable. It sticks out like a sore thumb on the world stage. Just a few examples:

BLUF:

The absurdity of Gaza as the single largest welfare-dependent group of people makes it an artificial creation designed to minimize Israel either through attrition, dilution, absorption, or death. It is a Western and Muslim creation that uses one group of people against another to retain control of natural resources, industrial production, and the quality of life permitted to the masses. On the road to total social control, Israel turns out to be a stumbling block that needs to be shoved into line or disappear. This is the quiet, almost silent, narrative of the Elites!

Emphasis added.
