SAFE-T Act: Illinois sheriff warns prosecutors not to be ‘overzealous' targeting victims stopping criminals
[FoxNews] Citizens could be driven to use lawful force to stop criminals, Illinois sheriff says

Illinois Police and state's attorneys shouldn't be "overzealous" when prosecuting victims who use force to defend themselves after the state's criminal justice reform law goes into effect, a sheriff told Fox News.

"I think you will see instances where civilians take matters into their own hands and use hopefully what's an appropriate level of force to get the people to stop committing the crime that they're doing," Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard said.

Illinois' Safety, Accountability, Fairness and Equity-Today (SAFE-T) Act will make significant changes to the state's criminal justice reform system. Provisions include ending cash bail; limiting how judges determine whether defendants are flight risks; and allows defendants under electronic monitoring to leave home for 48 hours before they can be charged with escape.

"A vast majority of Southern and Central Illinois, and even Northwest Illinois counties have been completely opposed to this," Bullard said. "It really only had Cook County in mind."

All but one of the 102 state attorneys oppose the law as it stands, and more than half of those prosecutors have filed lawsuits since Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the legislation into law last year.

Bullard added that if Cook County wanted this reform in their county, "then by all means go ahead."

"But the rest of us don't want it," he said. "We got plenty of bed space for people who want to act like knuckleheads at two in the morning."

"So why'd you shoot him thrice in the ass, Mullins?"

"Well, seein' as he was runnin' on being caught stealin'."

"But you shot him a second time!"

"Yessir, I did. He was cursin' all sorts a nasty. As I re-membered it bein' an obscenity crime. All disorderly like."

"Sigh... But the third time?!"

"Oh I was just tryin' to stop 'im from pollutin' the noise, sir. He was caterwaulin' like somethin' crazy. Interferin' with everbody's enjoyment of life and business."

Greta Thunberg Calls For 'Overthrow of Whole Capitalist System'
"Mask off moment."

[SummitNews] Thunberg made the extremist comments during an appearance on Sunday night at London’s Royal Festival Hall to promote her new ‘Climate Book’.

Nicholas Harris from UnHerd was there to watch Thunberg outline her demented manifesto.

"Interspersed among the usual directives about the need to pressure political leaders, her message was more radical and more militant than it has been in the past. There is no "back to normal", she told us. "Normal" was the "system" which gave us the climate crisis, a system of "colonialism, imperialism, oppression, genocide", of "racist, oppressive extractionism". Climate justice is part of all justice; you can’t have one without the others. We can’t trust the elites produced by this system to confront its flaws — that’s why she, much like Rishi Sunak, won’t be bothering with the COP meeting this year. COP itself is little more than a "scam" which facilitates "greenwashing, lying and cheating". Only overthrow of "the whole capitalist system" will suffice."

#2  Of course, people like her will be killed after the revolution, but they either don't know it or are okay with it. The most important thing is to wreck our civilization permanently. Commies always do this. It's what they did in Cambodia.

Yuri Bezmenov said these types of people are exploited by upstart authoritarian regimes because they're really good at destabilizing things with their incessant cynicism, cries of victimhood, and combativeness. He also said they're the first ones to be lined up and shot by these regimes because they immediately become a thorn in that new regime's side.

Europe
‘Let's Get Out Of NATO’: Discontent Soars Across Europe As Russian Sanctions Backfire
[ZeroHedge] Western sanctions against Russia have been considered a powerful foreign policy tool by the US and the EU to paralyze Moscow back to the 'stone age.' Though sanctions against Moscow have entirely backfired, sparking the worst cost-of-living crisis for Europeans in a generation.

In early September, we first noticed a wave of discontent sweeping across Europe as tens of thousands of people took to the city streets to protest soaring electricity bills and the worst inflation in decades. Some countries delivered relief packages to citizens to tame the anger, while other countries did not have the financial capacity to hand out checks.

Tens of thousands of people have marched across metro areas in France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Germany -- many of them are fed up with sanctions on Russia that have sparked economic ruins for many households and businesses -- but also very surprising, support for NATO's involvement in Ukraine is waning.

There has been increasing awareness and dissent among Europeans about their countries' leaders prioritizing NATO's ambitions in Ukraine over their own citizens. The prioritization has been in the form of sanctions against Moscow, sparking energy hyperinflation and supplying weapons to Ukraine, which has made Moscow displeased with any country that does so. Some Europeans are now demanding NATO negotiate with Moscow to end the war so that economic turmoil can abate.

Here are the latest protests across Europe of tens of thousands of people (if not more) frustrated with high inflation and crying out anti-NATO slogans.
Many, many images and videos of massive anti-NATO protests at the link. See with your own eyes.

God be with them, I hope they succeed. NATO is a wildly expensive operation that we can't afford, not while our own people are homeless, suffering and watching their paychecks vanish from inflation and soaring gas prices. But we can't get any aid while we have to subsidize the defense of wealthy countries who despise us.

#2  True in 1935. True today.

US Marine Corps Major General Smedley Butler collected an award cabinet full of medals for his battlefield bravery. But perhaps his bravest act of all was to declare, after his retirement in the early 1930s, who was really winning (and losing) during the bloody clashes.

It was business interests, he revealed, who commercially benefited from warfare. War Is a Racket is the title of the influential speech Butler delivered on a tour across the United States, as well the expanded version of the talk that was later published in 1935—and is now reprinted here. This seminal piece of writing rings as true today as it did during Butler’s lifetime.

In his introduction, Jesse Ventura reviews Butler’s original writings and relates them to our current political climate—explaining how right he was, and how wrong our current system is. With an insightful new foreword by Salon.com founder David Talbot, and a new afterword by activist Cindy Sheehan, this portable reference will appeal to anyone interested in the state of our country and the entire world.

#18  They trust us as little as they trust the Russians. Why not get out of NATO and save our money? Save it for what we really need: ourselves. It certainly benefits us not at all to help Europe, particularly when they despise us and want us gone. #22  I wasn't really a fan of these lockdown measures They were seen to be necessary in times when incidences were high and no vaccine available.

What I've said is that lockdowns in Germany were milder than in other European countries,. let alone Israel or Australia. People could always leave home ("taking a walk was a "valid reason"). There was a short time around Christmas 2020 when people weren't supposed to leave home in the night. I found this measure unneccessary. But death rates were the highest at this time.

#35  The truth is this was never America's conflict. It is a European conflict, with Russia. And Trump would never let the US taxpayer pay for it. Also, the Russian speaking folks of east Ukraine would've gotten their own place, Zelensky may have still sold his countrymen into the supranation but America could never have been guilt tripped by clever sons of bitches into supplying Zelensky for his ego trip. And no, Putin was never out to capture Kyiv... or Poland, that's absurd.

Trump is not liked because he wasn't good for the supranation calling in uncle Sam as muscle for the global order. He was for self contained sovereign societies coexisting and trading, with always the best outcome for America. The globalists want the exact opposite. A weak and gullible American leadership, proxy warfare to establish governorates and corporate fiefdoms, social and demographic re-engineering on a global scale, and no sovereignty ever, for anybody.

The EU will appreciate only the Trudeaus and Macrons and Aderns and Merkels. A Trump for them is an everyman boor that's in the way.

#36  But it's okay, everyone has a right to work for and aspire to the best for their chosen flag. Even China didn't like Trump. You can't hold it against them. I'll bet Netanyahu was angry with him for letting the Turks roll on the peshmerga. But Trump was only watching out for America. That's his job. That's the point of being a state leader. I don't want a state leader who loses sleep over how fucking Somalia will pull through without him.

#37  Trump respected leaders who advocate for their nations’ interests. He expected Xi to work like hell for China, Putin for his nation, Bolsonaro for Brazil, KSM for Saudi, Bibi for Israel, Abe for Japan and Modi for India.

Which is why, to the liberal Globalists’ dismay and scorn, Trump established good and reasonably stable relations with every one of those leaders.

It’s only the WEFfers and left-lib soyboys and neocons who had a problem with this sound, sensible, centuries proven-wise approach.

#48  Have agents been sent by Ukraine
To share their unbearable pain
By posing as Russians
In every discussion
And spamming you Burgers for gain
In a clever attempt
To engender contempt
And appear -- dear oh dear! -- to campaign?

Has the real Russian deal
Been assigned to play heel
In peruke to provoke your disdain?

And if so, how would you know?

Now off to read thread. But first I assure all comrades that rumours of comma shortage are completely untrue!

#49  I don't want Trump to win a second term.
I don't want Biden to win a second term.
What I want doesn't matter.
Now what?

"NeverTrumpers are liberal Globalists masquerading as conservatives."

I'm a businessman whose company is trading worldwide, with a lot of business in the U.S. The European definition of globalism differs a lot from the definition of Trump supporters. Even the word "liberal" does.

That said, some of you should get their act together.

In the last years you blamed Germany for being too dependent on Russian energy.

Now Germany is making great sacrifices to achieve independence from Russian gas, and the U.S.is greatly benefitting from that by selling damn expensive LNG.

So what do you want? Should Germany go back to appeasing Russia?
Posted by: European Conservative || 11/02/2022 18:11 Comments || Top||

#50  ^ Yes. Both sides prospered. They were at peace.

As Bismarck knew, Germany has to have a good relationship with Russia, or both countries will suffer.

The wrench in all of this was the Ukrainian Nazis and their American patrons, the neocon shit-stirrers, esp liberal Globalists like McCain and cvnts like Vicky Nuland.

Ah, but you liberal Globalists are running out of time, old boy. (In more ways than one.)

Just six more days and your neocon Great Grift comes to an end.

Tick tock.

#54  Oh, if your portfolio’s down (thank you, Brandon!), don’t fredt.

Non-COVID deaths are soaring, and Service Corp International’s revenues and earnings are soaring too. $SCI’s stock shot up 10.7% today! Buy $SCI and be happy.

Happy days for the funeral industry in America! Take it away, Thomas Ryan, Chairman & CEO of Aneruca’s largest publicly-traded funeral parlour and cremation service operator:

CEO THOMAS RYAN: [in the] third quarter of this year [2022], we did 15% more calls [ie deaths serviced] than we did in the third quarter of 2019. That is not what anybody would have anticipated. And that has just a very de minimis amount of COVID deaths.

So, then you say, is that sustainable? Well, I don't think 15%. But I guess what I'm telling you is, I don't think we're going back to 2019. I think -- and the reason for that is, there's more baby-boomers dying. There's an impact from this, call it, the unhealthy America concept…”

#55  Should Germany go back to appeasing Russia?
Or you could invade Poland. What, too soon? It has been half a century.

Actually there is method to this madness. Taking Poland would place the formidable German army as a blocking force plugging the gap at the Ukr-Polish border, the gateway to Western Europe.

In the meantime, the Russians have secured their positions east of the Dniepr, so they are happy. Western Ukraine becomes the De-Militarized Zone. No more fighting and everyone can get back to grifting and rebuilding the Ukrainian electric grid. Also cheap gas for everyone! It's a win-win on a global scale.

#56  ^ that’s Minsk II. That’s actually the platform which Zelensky ran on and was elected to sign and implement — during Trump time.

If they told their main clients (Donks and their running dogs of media) that it was going to be a landslide in May or June, do you really expect the money to continue to flow? This works with the 'consultants'. They got to get their cut too. Why waste buddles of money when its just spitting in the wind. Consultants use polls and polls use consultants. It's good business every couple of years. There is a certain karma to the cons exploiting other cons.

Olde Tyme Religion
The Deleted History of Islam
[PJ] The following Q&A was conducted by Davide Cavaliere for the Italian website L’informale:

Born and raised in the U.S. to Egyptian parents who lived in the Middle East, Raymond Ibrahim is an author and a highly regarded lecturer specializing in the Middle East and Islam. Currently a Shillman Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center, Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Gatestone Institute, and the Judith Friedman Rosen Fellow at the Middle East Forum. Along with Daniel Pipes, Robert Spencer, and Bruce Bawer, he is one of the freest voices on Islamic history.

Italian publishers are disinclined to translate and publish books critical of Islam. You recently published Defenders of the West. Can you expose to our readers the content of the text?

Ibrahim: Yes, it’s a follow-up to my previous book, Sword and Scimitar: Fourteen Centuries of War between Islam and the West. Whereas that book focused on eight decisive battles between Islam and Europe that shaped the course of history, Defenders of the West focuses on eight decisive men. It looks at that same long war between Islam and Europe, but through the lens and lives of these eight warriors, whose lives and exploits are more dramatic than most fiction movies can capture. Ironically, whereas all eight of these men were once heralded as great exemplars and heroes, most of them are today either completely unknown or else vilified, and their defensive wars against Islam presented as intolerant or unprovoked attacks by "Islamophobes" and xenophobes who were incapable of "celebrating diversity." I should add that I managed to delve into several arcane and little-known sources, in different languages, to offer the most accurate and riveting account of their struggles against the jihad.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has made Europe more dependent on Turkey, Azerbaijan, Algeria, and the Muslim countries of the Caspian Sea. In the future, how will these Muslim nations exploit our dependence on their energy resources?

Ibrahim: Well, if history is any indicator, these Muslim nations will exploit our dependence on their energy resources in a manner that bolsters Islam, including on the world community. For example, Saudi petrodollars are well-known to fund and disseminate the most radical form of Islamic teaching in mosques and madrasas all throughout the world, including if not especially in the West — so-called "Wahhabism" (which is really another way of saying literal and purist Islam). Furthermore, trying to strengthen Islam and weaken Infidels is a Muslim imperative, one which can be achieved in many ways, jihad only being the most famous. In this scenario, Muslims will use the infidels’ own money and dependence on Muslim resources to radicalize fellow Muslims against the West.

Muslims have conquered and subjugated vast territories all over the world, from Europe to Asia to Africa. How is it possible that a warrior and slave-holding civilization is, now, considered a "victim" of supposed Western oppression?

Ibrahim: Yes, it’s quite the amazing turn of events, no? The reason such a topsy-turvy history has managed to prevail is twofold: First, the bulk of the real historical interaction between Islam in the West — centuries’ worth of war, conquest, bloodshed, and mass slavery — has been suppressed; here I am discussing the ongoing, violent, jihadist onslaught perpetrated by Muslim caliphates, sultanate, emirates, from a variety of nations, including Arabs, Berbers, Turks, and Tatars. As discussed in both books, Defenders of the West and Sword and Scimitar, for well over a thousand years, these diverse peoples, operating under a distinctly Islamic logic — the sort championed by ISIS, the sort we were told has "nothing to do with Islam" — waged a relentless jihad on every corner of Europe, going as far as Iceland in their slave raids.

#7  I have both Sword and Scimitar and Defenders Of The West on my reference shelf. His dedication to rpimary sources and honest scholarship are impressive. VDH is a huge supporter of his academic rigor and candor. The failure to deal honestly with the Islam that lurks in the shadows that are not translated for taqqiya-based Western consumption is stunning. Religion of Peace is a sop to those who shy from hard truths about history and who has been the aggressor for centuries.

#8  “How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property – either as a child, a wife, or a concubine – must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the faith: all know how to die but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome.”
― Winston Churchill, The River War

#9  Let's face it. We have crippled and emasculated ourselves in the face of the i-slam with our progressive ideas about 'human rights', 'due process' and equality. Only by making exceptions and compromising our newfound faux godlike ness can we accomplish what King Saul was originally commanded to do. Kill kill kill them all. Maybe we stop at a remnant that agrees to convert. Atheism, Buddhism, rosicrucian, star wars larper... whatever.

But to deal with them we need what timid people call brutality.
