B, thanks for posting. This is pure sentimentality on my part, but I find it somehow reassuring that the young lady standing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with her parents is still the Queen. Her barmy family aside, she's one of our last visible human links to that great victory. Photos here, including Brits waving American flags.

Seconded. Blimey's lucky she's still Queen.
Notice how a couple weeks ago, in her message to the realm re COVID, the Queen made an unmistakeable reference to wartime memories of Vera Lynn songs with her closing comment, "We will meet again."

Many reporters complained that the masks were "too insulated" and "made it impossible to comment or ask questions." President Trump said this issue did not concern him at this time. Heh heh

The architect of Sweden's coronavirus strategy has claimed the UK's lockdown has been largely "futile" in containing the virus.
Johan Giesecke, a state epidemiologist who advises the World Health Organisation, said the UK's death toll suggested instating harsh social restrictions was not the best method of tackling the pandemic.
Sweden has so far refused to impose the type of lockdown seen in other European countries, keeping many schools, restaurants and businesses open.
The UK’s death toll is more than 10 times that of that in Sweden, where fewer than 3,000 people have been killed by Covid-19 to date.

Everyone is the expert. I can readily see how the Nazi overcame the German population. I see everyday among the public the willingness to attack anyone they perceive not to be compliant. Johan Giesecke has been proven correct. Confinement as in a Cruse ship or Nursing home is to invite death. Finally just in the last few days Nursing Home staff are wearing goggles. This was required when Aids came upon us. I remember that day well. Medical staff in my area wore protection. Even had a suit with air conditioning. Didn't catch on because of cost. Surgical gloves of metal for non piercing needles protection. On and on but always cost.
