#1  Watching.

#2  ...Myself, I think this is going to turn out like the court-martial following the accidental shootdown of two US Army helicopters over Iraq some years back. The USAF leadership - desperate to avoid having to actually hang two of its zipper-suited Sun Gods for not being able to tell the difference between a Blackhawk and a Hind AND trashing the ROE - court-martialled the lowest ranking guy in the chain of events, a 1LT weapons controller on the AWACS. The jury deliberated for about an hour then found him not guilty, a severe slap in the face for the USAF. I think this is going to end up the same way.

#3  Watched a few cases just like it. One, this poor ground-pounder shot this kid that popped up from behind the bushes in Somalia during a firefight.

Had to send counsel to country to investigate. It is and should be hard to prosecute combat situations like so. Brought the kid back to CONUS, ran Courts Martial, and threw out the charges.

This case has no wind in it's sails.

However, there is another case open that deserves prosecution.

Arabia
Israel cannot bomb Saudi Arabia
Signing of nuclear cooperation pact between China and Saudi Arabia was a watershed event. It was one thing when Saudis purchased several nuclear weapons from Pakistan, and totally different when they decided to master the entire nuclear cycle themselves.
The Saoodis mastered the entire nuclear cycle? When?
Saudi monarchy is doomed as any monarchy. Saudi moderates are doomed in the short term as any moderates in Arab countries. Saudi nuclear scientists will fall under the rule of Muslim radicals.

After a decade of military nuclear program, Israeli still finds it politically problematic to bomb Iran, perhaps the most radical country on earth. Much less we would be able to attack nuclear infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, a backbone of the world oil supply. Our chances are specifically minimized by the Saudi claim that it needs nuclear weapons to protect its oil sources, thus the world's oil supply.

Iran will have to quickly act to realize its nuclear advantage. Suffering years of isolation in pursuit of nuclear weapon only to see it balanced by Saudi nuclear capability is a loss of unimaginable proportions to ayatollahs. Saudi nuclear program can well trigger Iranian nuclear strike. It remains to see where the strike will land.

#1  Saudi Arabia has a wonderful fleet for its air force to play with, not one of which would get off the ground were it not for hired kufr mechanics, or so I'm told. Mr. Wife spoke of his company's factory, staffed entirely by foreigners except for the figurehead Saudi department heads, who wandered in periodically for a coffee break and to sign off on things already decided. What odds the clever graduates of the Saudi king's co-ed university will be able to do the required frequent and persnickety maintenance of the nuclear cycle, let alone the even more persnickety maintenance of actual nuclear weapons?

#3  I suspect the warheads, like the Pakistani warheads, will be rotated back to East Asia for maintenance.

#4  Given all the Muslim countries around Saudi Arabia that are under threat or influence from pro-Nukulaar, pro-"Arab Spring" Iran + Radical Islam, HARD TO SEE HOW THE KSA CAN AVOID DOMINANCE, IFF NOT DIRECT TAKEOVER, BY THE ANTI-MONARCHY RADICALS???

Dowd: Showtime at the Apollo

#1  For eight seconds, we saw the president we had craved for three years: cool, joyous, funny, connected.

Translation: Aw, man! I can't believe we were such rubes. Talk about 3 years of buyer's remorse! At least he is campaigning again and we can feel good about...oh look, shiny!

Ms. Dowd should recall that eight seconds is more than a metaphor. It is the time allocated to a cowboy to stay atop a pissed off bull. In that sport, he gets graded for style, like Obama has been during the last campaign.

I dunno. The way I interpret the article is basically DoDo's BoZo's MoDo's stock in trade - teenage-girl-style snark masquerading as sophisticated criticism - actually directed against the Big O and Michelle Antoinette. A couple of money quotes:

Despite what his rivals say, the president and the first lady do believe in American exceptionalism — their own, and they feel overassaulted and underappreciated.

We disappointed them.

They (presumably meaning BO and Michelle) still believed, as their friend Valerie Jarrett once said, that Obama was “just too talented to do what ordinary people do.”

Did you get that, folks? We disappointed them. We're just too fucking stupid to bow before His greatness and talent. Leave the rogues' gallery of Chicago mooks, fixers, bagmen, racist-crackpot preachers and terrorists aside, along with the out-and-out treason displayed the past three years...if you had any lingering doubt that Obama genuinely hates this country and its people, MoDo has (probably unintentionally) completely dispelled it.

#7  Reagan didn’t socialize with the press. He spent his evenings with Nancy, watching TV with dinner trays. But he knew that to transcend, you can’t condescend.

OMG, she's so looped, she's channeling Johnny Cochran.

#8  >the president is maddeningly naïve.

That was obvious to anyone with a brain thus ruling out comment writers at the NYT/Grauniad.
