#5  Objectively speaking, Romney should have crushed Obama in 2012.

Many factors affect the outcomes of elections, and they're not always the "logical" or "obvious" ones.

#6  I disagree with all the "Dems stealing and 200% turnout stuff". There is absolutely no enthusiasm among deadend Dems for Biden. No where. not even in Californica, or Pneu Yak, or anywhere.

#8  /\ #6, it doesn't take "popular turnout" for a few people to stuff a ballot box until it bulges with fraudulent ballots...

Doctor Veteran Nun Blasts Abortion, Says Trump Is Most Pro-Life President In History
[The Federalist] Sister Deirdre Byrne has served under a wide array of diverse titles. A sister, soldier, and surgeon, the nun took on the title of a speaker at Wednesday’s Republican National Convention, where she spoke on behalf of the unborn and fulfilled a wish she prayed for.

"I must confess that I recently prayed while in chapel begging God to allow me to be a voice and instrument for human life, and now here I am, speaking at the Republican National Convention," Byrne said. "I guess you better be careful for what you pray for."

Byrne explained that she spent nearly 30 years in the military and was colonel in the U.S. Army Medical Corps before entering the ministry in 2002 to tend to the sick and poor in Washington D.C. and war-torn countries abroad such as Iraq and Sudan.

"Humility is at the foundation of our order, which makes it very difficult to talk about myself, but I can speak about my experience working for those fleeing war towns and impoverished countries around the world. Those refugees all share a common experience. They have all been marginalized; viewed as insignificant, powerless and voiceless," Byrne said. "And while we tend to think of the marginalize as living beyond our borders. The truth is, the largest marginalized group in the world can be found in the United States. They are the unborn."

Byrne continued to offer both a religious testimony and an expert medical opinion determining that "life begins at conception."

"As Christians, we first met Jesus as a stirring embryo in the womb of an unwed mother and saw him born nine months later in the poverty of the cave. It’s no coincidence that Jesus stood up for what was just and was ultimately crucified because what he said wasn’t politically correct or fashionable."

#1  After having achieved personal success, Sr. Byrne decided to live a life solely in service to God and mankind.

The moment she made that unselfish decision absolute must have been an amazing experience.

Biden off on another planet: Charts show the U.S. is beating the coronavirus
[American Thinker] What planet does Joe Biden live on?

In his campaign for president, he's promised more lockdowns if the "experts" tell him to do it, maybe permanent lockdown, lockdown as a lifestyle, which means shutting down the entire country. It's bizarre stuff, given that it's already been done, with plenty of unintended consequences. It's a supposed leadership redo of President Trump's supposedly bad leadership on COVID. This, according to Joe, is how one really does it, so rewind the reel to March 2020 and let him start the lockdowns from there as if nothing had at all changed.

#4  Deaths today:

USA: 1,128
Germany: 7
Posted by: European Conservative || 08/27/2020 21:02 Comments || Top||

#5  European Conservative, First straight numbers are pointless, per million is the only honest way to present numbers between different sized nations. Second, its a bit sick to make it into a competition.

#6  If you had Cuomo you would have scored far higher.
Posted by: rjschwarz || 08/27/2020 21:06 Comments || Top||

#7  @rjschwarz

This is not a competition, these are cold numbers. If you want them adjusted to population: The U.S. has roughly 4 times as many people as Germany.

If you had the German numbers, your death toll today would stand at 28, not 1128.

Beating the virus? I don't think so (yet).

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel's arms dealers should remember today's allies can be tomorrow's enemies
[YNet]- Karl Marx wrote that history repeats itself, first as tragedy and then as a farce - and veterans of Israel's military industries can certainly relate.

Israel has many times watched attempts to improve relations through arms sales become a security threat.

Take, for example, the Israeli-made Soltam mortars, which were sold to Iran's Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and a decade later landed on the heads of IDF troops in Lebanon.

Or the various missiles, drones and advanced intel systems sold to the Turkish army during the honeymoon period of the 90s, which today are owned by one of Israel's most hostile enemies and which the Iranians have no doubt already been given a peek at.

Thank goodness the plans to sell Turkey versions of the Merkava tank and the Ofek-class spy satellite did not go through before Recep Tayyip Erdogan came to power.

Worthy of mention is the Israeli-made CCTV system sold to Dubai, which helped identify those whom the local police chief claimed were Mossad agents behind the killing of Hamas military leader Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in a hotel room in 2010.

The ongoing opposition of Israeli defense officials to a plan by Mossad chief Yossi Cohen to sell advanced weaponry to the UAE is based on a clear view of the ever-shifting dynamics in the Middle East.

The Defense Ministry is the first to have a vested interest in exporting Israeli weapons systems, something that strengthens the defense industries and helps them develop future generations of IDF weaponry.

The ministry even receives royalties from each foreign export of systems developed with state funding by external contractors such as Israel Aerospace Industries, Elbit and Rafael.

The products developed by the Israeli defense industry are some of the best in the world, and it is only natural for the UAE to want them for its own army.

But the recent sale of Iron Dome and Windbreaker missile defense systems to the U.S., Spike missiles to Germany, spy satellites and reconnaissance aircraft to Italy, UAVs to Switzerland and radar to the Czech Republic are not on the same level as selling such systems to a Muslim Gulf state - even if it shares a common enemy like Iran.

The Defense Ministry has already approved previous sales of Israeli military technology to the UAE, albeit not very advanced systems and under clear restrictions.

The Middle East is not Europe, experience has shown that today's friendly ally can easily become tomorrow's archenemy.

So even with the desire to build closer ties to the Gulf states and use oil money to boost the Israeli economy, the country must carefully consider any security deal and know when to say no.

A teaching point that should most certainly not be limited to Israel.

#1  "Worms, Roxanne!"
The study is about self fertilizing worms that alter their RNA and can then pass on the characteristic if it occurs before fertilization.
Kinda specific.

Palantir CEO Slams Silicon Valley's ‘Engineering Elites’ Social Justice Warriors
Lots of people don't like this company. But it's hard to argue with this guy's take on things.
[ZH] Somehow, we missed this little easter egg buried in Palantir's S-1, which was released Tuesday afternoon.

In what was titled a "Letter from Palantir's Chief Executive Officer", Palantir's CEO Alex Karp lambasted Silicon Valley's monolithic progressive culture ensconced within companies like Google-owner Alphabet, where employees have rebelled against the company's work for the DoJ. In the letter, Karp defended Palantir's government work, and challenged the Silicon Valley "elite" to try thinking for themselves for once, instead of kowtowing to every progressive whim.

"The engineering elite of Silicon Valley may know more than most about building software. But they do not know more about how society should be organized or what justice requires," Karp wrote.
