Manager of CBS employees’ credit union stole $40M over 20 years, authorities say
[FOXNEWS] A credit union set up to serve employees of CBS was shuttered last week after its manager was accused of embezzling $40 million over 20 years, according to reports.

The suspect, identified as Edward Martin Rostohar, 62, was a 30-year employee of the Studio City, Calif.-based credit union, reports said. He was tossed in the clink
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
at his Studio City home and charged with bank fraud and identity theft, authorities said.

If convicted on both counts, he faces up to 32 years in prison and a $1 million fine, Deadline Hollywood reported.

Prosecutors say Rostohar, as manager, made online payments to himself from his employer or forged a fellow employee’s signature on checks made out to him. He gambled away much of the money and also financed a lavish lifestyle that included flights on private jets and purchases of expensive watches and sports cars, Variety reported,

The alleged scheme began sometime before 2000, but suspicions were finally raised March 6 of this year, when another credit union employee discovered a $35,000 check made out to Rostohar with no record of the reason justifying the large sum, prosecutors said.

That employee then conducted an audit and learned that checks totaling $3.7 million had been made out to Rostohar since January 2018, according to prosecutors.

Rostohar was suspended from his job soon after, then arrested after his wife called 911, saying her husband had stolen money from his employer and was planning to leave the U.S., prosecutors said.

#2  and also financed a lavish lifestyle that included flights on private jets and purchases of expensive watches and sports cars

Very stupid way to hide money, plus he went too long and got sloppy with the paperwork. The talented big-time embezzlers just quietly disappear with nobody the wiser.

He did work for CBS so there's that mental deficiency to be considered, though.

Rapper Nipsey Hussle killed in shooting outside his L.A. store
[NBCNEWS] The Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle was killed in a shooting outside his clothing store in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon, multiple law enforcement sources said. Two other men were at death's door, and a suspect remained on the lam.

"He was really cool," Talley said. "He was a dope individual every time I met him."
Police sources said Hussle was shot multiple times at Marathon Clothing on Slauson Avenue in South Los Angeles at about 3:20 p.m. and that he was pronounced dead.
He's dead, Jim!
at a hospital. No other information was immediately available, but just a couple of hours before, Hussle, 33, whose real name was Ermias Ashgedom, had tweeted, "Having strong enemies is a blessing."

A large crowd of people, many of them crying, gathered at the intersection as police and media helicopters whirred overhead.

One of them was Matthew Talley of Denver, the engineer and director known as Megatron.

"It ain't just Los Angeles. He was an inspiration that was bigger than Los Angeles," Talley said. "You see all these people out here? ...

"He was really cool," Talley said. "He was a dope individual every time I met him."

#1  The conservative case for communism is that the system is such an abject failure it whipes out dillusions of government control for everyone forced to survive it. We just need to convince western Communists to join the revolution in some foreign nation to get a taste (and ensure it's implemented correctly) without tearing down the west in the process.

On This Day: 80 years ago, Spanish Civil War came to an end
[The Local] Eighty years ago, on April 1st 1939, the civil war came to an end in Spain, a painful, bloody wound that has yet to heal.

A dark prelude to World War II, the conflict unleashed passions around the world for close to three years and led to a decades-long dictatorship.

It all started on July 18, 1936, when army generals staged a coup against a fledgling republic that had been established five years prior in a restive, poor country.

The coup failed but divided the country between those who supported the Republic and the "nationalist" rebels.

Among these was General Francisco Franco, in command of the army in the Spanish protectorate of Morocco.

He promptly gained the support of German and Italian dictators Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, whose planes transported troops onto the mainland in what is known as the world's first major airlift.

The planes would go on to regularly bomb cities around the country, and destroy the town of Guernica in the Basque Country, made famous by Picasso's haunting painting.

Cullinan Petra mine gives up huge rock
[The South African] The tiny mining town of Cullinan is in the news after an enormous diamond was discovered at the site that produced the largest gem-quality rough diamond ever found.

In the more than a century that has passed since the Cullinan diamond was found the industry has undergone seismic shifts and is currently struggling under the weight of a global price slump.

The diamond industry’s suffering has been driven in part by a lower demand for the gems in both the jewelry and industrial sectors and concerns over the trade of conflict diamonds which even major traders have been implicated in.

The find comes as a welcome boost to the Petra mining company, who saw their shares soar up over 7 percent as news of the find broke, helping the miners recover from a 16-year low.

A release issued on Petra Dimaonds website read: "Petra Diamonds Limited is pleased to confirm that it recovered a 425.10 carat D colour Type II gem quality diamond earlier today at its Cullinan Diamond Mine.

China-Japan-Koreas
Kim Jong-Un’s Photographer Brutally Fired for Blocking the Crowd’s View of Him for Three Seconds
Hat tip our own Dr. Steve.
[FStoppers] Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
has reportedly fired his photographer for imposing on his "supreme dignity". The dictator claims the public’s view of him was blocked for three seconds while the photographer scrambled to get a better spot from which to take his picture.

Identified only by his surname Ri, the photographer was tasked with documenting Jong-un during the elections. According to Pyongyang sources, he was guilty of "adjusting the angle so that the camera's flash covered the Dear and Respected Supreme Leader Comrade's neck".

In taking the ill-fated position, Ri ‐ who just last month documented the summit with Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
in Hanoi, Vietnam ‐ is also accused of violating rules which ban any photography within two meters of the Jong-un, and prohibit pictures or video from being taken directly in front of him.

The dictator had arrived to cast his election vote, stopping to wave at the crowd, at which point Ri stepped in front of him. A news camera caught the moment on video.

Since the incident, the photographer was fired and removed from the Workers' Party of Korea ‐ essentially making him a second-class citizen. Sources describe Ri’s actions as an "anti-Party act of damaging the Supreme Dignity of our Party", and that he had been fired almost instantly.

Japan's Emperor Akihito ends reign marked by modernisation
[PULSE.NG] Japan's outgoing Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko dramatically modernised the tradition-bound monarchy, bringing themselves closer to the public and boosting popular support for the household.

Akihito has broken new ground with everything from his decision to marry for love to his outspoken calls for peace and expressions of regret over Japan's wartime role.

His approach has at times unsettled those who view the emperor as a divine priest meant to inspire awe, but it has won him broad respect and popularity.

Born in 1933 just as Japan was embarking on its militaristic sweep across Asia, Akihito was 11 when World War Two ended in defeat.

He inherited the Chrysanthemum Throne in 1989, becoming Japan's 125th emperor upon the death of his father Emperor Hirohito.

Hirohito's rule saw aggressive expansionism by Japan that resulted in the war's devastation, but also the institutionalised pacifism of the post-war constitution drafted by US occupying forces.

Hirohito was kept on the throne after the war but his status was downgraded from a semi-divine sovereign to a figurehead with no political power.

Akihito embraced that new role and quietly parted from tradition that had kept emperors away from common people.

Kiwi mobster Sonny Fatu not about to surrender his firearms
[Breitbart] Mongrel Mob leader Sonny Fatu is making it clear his gang will not be surrendering their guns as mandated by the New Zealand government.

On March 20, 2019, Breitbart News reported New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s announcement that "military-style" semiautomatic rifles, "high-capacity" magazines, and certain gun parts were being banned. While making the announcement, Ardern encouraged New Zealand gun owners to go ahead and hand over their firearms.

Mongrel Mob leader Fatu told Stuff, "Will gangs get rid of their weapons? No. Because of who we are, we can’t guarantee our own safety."

Fatu added, "The attacks between our organisations are gang-on-gang, they do not involve the non-gang members. Although there may be peripheral damage and violence that occasionally spills out into the public eye, it is absolutely and without intention for any harm to be caused to non-gang members."

He referenced the March 15, 2019, Mosque attacks in New Zealand, saying, "It’s not in our culture to inflict harm on innocent people like what happened in Christchurch."

Catalan separatists clash with far-right in Barcelona
[DAWN] Five people were maimed and seven jugged
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!
on Saturday as members of Spain’s far-right Vox party demonstrating in Barcelona against Catalan independence clashed with separatist activists there, police said.

The violence came amid rising tension in the run-up to parliamentary elections next month and the continuing trial of 12 Catalan leaders for their part in the failed 2017 independence bid.

Police estimated that around 5,000 members of Vox demonstrated in the Catalan capital, in the words of their leader Santiago Abascal to "defend to the very end a united Spain".

"Spain will not resign itself to being destroyed," Abascal told the crowd.

Several groups of radical Catalan separatists, many of them masked, had organised counter-demonstrations around the Vox rally, which took place in the Plaza de Espana.

Its distinguishing philosophical feature is the Corporate State. The word is nowadays thrown around by all sorts of people who have no idea what they're talking about...
about 300 of them set up barricades, burning rubbish bins, and throwing bottles and stones at officers, said police.

Vox made its electoral breakthrough when it won seats in the Andalusia regional assembly last December. It is expected to pick up more nationally in the April 28 parliamentary elections.

French ‘yellow vests’ stage 20th week of anti-govt protests
[DAWN] French "yellow vest" demonstrators on Saturday staged their 20th week of anti-government protests despite hotspot bans and a plea from bank chiefs to end violence against branches.

The interior ministry said there were fewer protesters than a week earlier, estimating them at 5,600 for the country as a whole by mid-afternoon, a drop of almost 3,000 people.

Police were surprised by a jump in the numbers two weeks ago, and struggled to curb violence by highly-organised demonstrators who smashed shop windows and set fire to newspaper kiosks and a bank in the capital.

Protesters demand end to forced conversions
[DAWN] A protest camp against forced conversions was held at Charing Cross outside the Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

Assembly on Saturday that was attended by representatives of minority communities.

The participants belonging to various faiths and religions gathered at the camp and shouted slogans against extremism.

Jawad Ahmad, chairman of the Barabri Party Pakistain, condemned the rise in kidnappings of minor girls, especially in Sindh. "We should be completely against the concept of minority and majority in any case," he said, specifying that all citizens were equal and must be given basic rights.

"We have always spoken out against forced conversion," he said. "Laws are already there, but they are not being implemented. Barabri party feels that perpetrators of such crimes must be dealt with aggressively and immediately. The state must take note of these issues because this is an incorrect use of religion as a tool."

Chaman Lal, who has been working on the issue of forced conversions, said an Anti-Forced Conversion Bill ought to be passed immediately. He said that when girls were kidnapped their original school certificates and official age was concealed by kidnapers and they were presented as 18 years old and ’legal’ for marriage and conversion. But this was all a lie, he added.

"Main perpetrators are Mian Mithu, the pir of Barchundi Sharif in Ghotki district; and Pir Ayub Jab Sarhandi of Sarhandi shrine in Umerkot district. The Hindu community wants their immediate arrest."

Joseph Francis from the Centre for Legal Aid Assistance and Settlement said that forced conversions were not just limited to the Hindu community in Sindh, but six cases had surfaced in Punjab during 2019 ‐ in Lahore, Bahawalpur and Sahiwal.

"They kidnap minor girls and take them away just to be raped, but even boys are sometimes kidnapped and brainwashed and sent to Kashmire to fight," he claimed. "If this is what happens, sometime down the line minority communities will also tend to get radicalised to protect their religions."

He demanded that the girls that have been recovered be instantly returned to their parents and not shifted to Darul Amans, and that every nikah of a Hindu girl and a Moslem man, must be conducted in front of the media, social activists and a magistrate to ensure transparency.

Olde Tyme Religion
Your tax dollars at work: Arizona repository houses roadkill for use by tribes
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) ‐ Arizona Native American tribes on the hunt for animal hides, antlers, teeth and other parts for cultural and religious use have a unique new resource: the state’s wildlife agency.

A recently launched program allows Arizona’s nearly two dozen tribes to make requests to the state Game and Fish Department for animals that have died from poaching or natural causes, or after being hit by a vehicle.

Agency game managers, researchers and other employees then keep an eye out for the carcasses as part of their regular work.

"It’s all just opportunistic collection of what we find out in the field," said the department’s tribal liaison, Jon Cooley, who grew up on the Fort Apache reservation in eastern Arizona.

So far, the program’s biggest customers are the Navajo Nation, which has collected bear and mule deer carcasses, and the Hopi Tribe, which has requested turtle shells, and turkey and water fowl feathers. The agency also gathered turtle shells for New Mexico pueblos, often used as ankle or hand rattles in ceremonial dances.

#1  Navajo Nation stretches across both northern AZ and NM. Area of the federal reservation is about 25,000 square miles (Rhode Island is about 1,200 square miles). IIRC, federal rulings already give the native tribes hunting and fishing rights. One tribe in the Northwest can hunt one whale a season. It probably is better for wildlife management to deliver material from the already dead than have the tribe take down live ones where they'd have far less control.

Or better yet have our elite combat drivers train children like in Yemen to run the bugs over cuz why it will be legal just add oil and gas!

Zambales governor: China flattened mountains to make Scarborough Shoal
Hat tip Dr. Steve.
[Subic.morefun] Zambales Governor Amor Deloso has claimed that the Chinese are excavating mountains for material to shore up Scarborough Shoal.

Gov. Amor Deloso says the soil and rocks dumped by China in the region of Scarborough Shoal were taken from Zambales in a two-year operation that involved seven Chinese mining firms to mask the cover up.

The Zambales Governor said that the ex-governor was part of the clandestine plan. In a ’mad dash’ to excavate rocks and dirt for the reclamation of Scarborough Shoal the mining firms excavated the tops of two mountains in his province.

The mining firms used in the massive ordeal ran under the guise as nickel miningfirms, when actually they were put there to steal the rocks and soil of the Philippines to build the artificial island.

The mountain top, located in the heavily forested highlands of Santa Cruz, has been flattened and damaged beyond repair.

Deloso added that the massive soil and rocks taken from the mainland have done irreversible damage to the environment.

A view from afar shows the visible damage, some saying the Chinese literally carved-out the mountainside for their own gain.

EX-GOVERNOR LINED HIS OWN POCKETS
Gov. Deloso says that ex-governor Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. lined his pockets to appease the Chinese.

Deloso explained in detail that the shoal is purely made of corals and not anything solid such as the soil and rocks from Zambales.

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, nearly 3,000 hectares of Scarborough Shoal have been filled in with heavy rocks and earth by China’s reclamation workers.

The Zambales Governor said that a total of two mountains are nearly flat ‐ and were running under the impression they were nickel mining with up to 450 trucks traveling night and day throughout the region ‐ eventually damaging the roadways.

Deloso said that the Chinese have literally bought the entire mountains by using the pretext they were in fact mining the area, not stealing it.

He said "They destroyed the total environment of Sta. Cruz in the six years of your former friend the former governor."

Local residents were questioned as to the effects of the heavy mining cover-up, many saying they found jobs in the mines and did not care where or who was stripping the mountains bare.

A task force is being formed to investigate the incident ‐ the Department of Environment and Natural Resources was shocked by the news.

"It’s horrible. I’ll find out whoever gave the permit [while] they are getting the soil. If there are DENR officials involved they’ll be made accountable."

The governor said that all mining activities in the province have stopped because of the massive cover up.
