Boy, 13, gets 7 years in youth prison for killing younger brother
[NYPOST] RAVENNA, Ohio ‐ A 13-year-old Ohio boy who stole a handgun from his grandfather’s gun cabinet and fatally shot his 11-year-old brother has been sentenced to seven years in a youth prison.

The Record-Courier reports a judge in northeast Ohio’s Portage County on Friday decided not to classify the 13-year-old as a serious youthful offender, which means he can’t be sent to adult prison for rule violations. The News Agency that Dare Not be Named is not identifying him because of his age.

The shooting occurred last April in Streetsboro. The boy was subsequently diagnosed with multiple psychological disorders. A psychologist said those disorders were rooted in the abuse he suffered as a toddler before he and his brother were adopted.

The boy said in court he didn’t realize he loved his brother until he was dead.

Man seen beating up Navy vet on viral video identified
[NYPOST] Lytee Knox Hundley said nothing as he was walked from the 79th Precinct station house in Bedford-Stuyvesant on Sunday afternoon, bound for an arraignment in the attack on Wilfredo Arce.

Hundley, 31, allegedly roughed up the 62-year-old Arce in the lobby of their NYCHA building in the Tompkins Houses around 6:15 p.m. Friday, cops said.

An unidentified bystander started recording the run-in for Facebook Live moments before fists started flying, though the exact circumstance of the attack remain unclear.

“Did this man come in right here, yes or no?” Hundley can be heard barking to a woman standing in the front door of her apartment as a bewildered Arce looked on.

When the woman answered yes, Hundley simply uttered, “Say no more,” then set upon Arce, the video shows.

He slugged Arce across the face, shoved the reeling victim with his forearm, then punched him again before the gruesome video cuts out, not capturing the rest of a beatdown that continued even after Arce was curled up and cowering on the lobby floor.

Arce — a Navy vet and the son of a former NYPD cop — was hospitalized with a broken nose and eye socket, but has since been released.

Amid a feverish social media campaign to track him down, Hundley surrendered to cops Sunday morning.

He has been charged with two counts of assault.

Africa Subsaharan
Six Tanzanian children killed 'for body parts'
[BBC] Six children in south-western Tanzania have been killed and had their ears and teeth removed, the authorities say.

Some of the bodies of the children, aged between two and nine years old, were also missing limbs.

"This is all about superstitious beliefs and many believe they will get help from witchcraft," Njombe District Commissioner Ruth Msafiri said.

Other local children are also missing and Ms Msafiri said people should work together to deal with the issue.

Correspondents say that some witchdoctors in the region tell people that human body parts have special properties that can bring them wealth and luck.

"We urge all parents and guardians to be on alert and teach their children on how determine the motives of who is around them," the district commissioner told the BBC.

The children, three of whom were from the same family, were taken from their homes at night when their parents were selling food at a market.

Fifty mass graves discovered in western DR Congo: UN rights group
[PULSE.NG] More than 50 mass graves have been identified in western Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
after a spate of killings in the region, a UN rights group has said.

"There are more than 50 mass graves, as well as common and individual graves that we have identified" in Yumbi in western Mai-Ndombe province, said Abdoul Aziz Thioye, director of the UN Joint Human Rights Office (UNJHRO) in DR Congo following a joint fact-finding mission with local authorities.

"This suggests that the number (of deaths) is quite high because a communal grave depending on size may contain five, ten bodies" or even "one hundred bodies or four times more", said Thioye on Friday.

The army chief in western DRC, General Fall Sikabwe, told AFP an investigation had begun.

"They have killed soldiers and coppers, taking their weapons to slaughter with," he said, giving no further details about the killings.

Earlier this month, the UN said at least 890 people were killed during three days of inter-communal festivities in the region.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet said in a statement on January 16 that the UN office had been informed by "credible sources" that the people were killed between December 16 and 18 in four villages in Yumbi.

The violence appears to have been rooted in a longstanding rivalry between the Banunu and Batende ethnic groups, sparked when Banunu tribespeople buried a traditional chief on Batende land on the night of December 13.

Around 465 houses and building were then burned down or pillaged, including two primary schools, a health centre, a market and the office of the national elections commission, the UN rights office said.

The UN refugee agency said earlier this month that 16,000 people had fled from the villages into the neighbouring Republic of Congo, also known as Congo-Brazzaville.

Venezuela's Guaido calls for new protests as pressure on Maduro rises
CARACAS (Reuters) - Juan Guaido, the Venezuelan opposition leader and self-proclaimed president, on Monday called for new street demonstrations as pressure intensified on President Nicolas Maduro and the crisis-stricken OPEC nation.

Countries around the world have recognized Guaido as Venezuela’s rightful leader, and the United States vowed to starve Maduro’s administration of oil revenue after he was sworn in Jan. 10 for a second term that was widely dubbed illegitimate.

Maduro says the United States is promoting a coup against him and promised to stay in office, backed by Russia and China, which have bankrolled his government and fought off efforts to have his government disavowed by the United Nations.

Guaido said opposition sympathizers should take to the streets on Wednesday to pass out copies of a pamphlet proposing amnesty that would give some legal protection to members of the military in hopes they will turn against Maduro.

Caravan 2.0: The Numbers Are Massive, Even By Mexico's Count
[Townhall] A few months ago we saw a massive number of illegal aliens flood the United States-Mexico border as part of the Central American caravan. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador offered asylum to caravan riders as part of a plan he established, called Estas en Tu Casa (translated to "This is Your Home").

In order to qualify for asylum in Mexico, an immigrant must be in the southern states of Chiapas and Oaxaca. Those who fail to qualify for refugee status can be deported back to their home country.

The plan was established to keep people from flocking to the United States' southern border. But now, Mexico is seeing a massive influx of caravan riders, primarily from Honduras. This new caravan was originally supposed to have roughly 2,000 people on it. According to Mexico, that number is now around 12,000, Breitbart reported.

Venezuelan pirates - the new scourge of the Caribbean
[BBC] As Venezuela's economy collapses, a tide of lawlessness is spreading to the nearby island of Trinidad. Its fishermen now live in fear of Venezuelan pirates, discovers Colin Freeman, while Venezuelan smugglers exchange drugs and guns for basic necessities.

If your idea of a tropical paradise is based on what you've seen in tourist brochures, the coastline of south-west Trinidad will not disappoint. Golden beaches and coconut groves? Tick. Sleepy villages, full of fishermen snoozing under palm trees? Tick. A relaxed, laid-back vibe? Hmm. Actually, no.

Take a closer look in villages like Fullarton, and you'll notice a few things seem out of place. For one, why have so many of the fishermen got 200 horsepower engines on their boats, when 75 is more than enough? And why, when they go out fishing at night, do none of them put lights on any more?

Trinidad's western tips are within sight of Venezuela
The answer, as fisherman Gerry Padarath explains from his beachside hammock, is pirates.

"We're all scared of them now," he tells me. "There's been about 50 fishermen in the village who've had run-ins with them, either being robbed or kidnapped. Our only chance is to fish in the dark, so they don't see us, or buy bigger engines so we can outrun them."

Hang on... Pirates? In the Caribbean? That was 300 years ago, wasn't it? Back when men like Blackbeard and Calico Jack sailed these waters. So far, the only pirate I'd seen in Trinidad was a picture of Captain Henry Morgan. And he was on a bottle of rum.

At Least 29 Dead as Venezuelan Crisis Escalates
[PJ] At least 29 people have been killed in escalating violence in Venezuela with the number believed to be much higher. The Miami Herald reports, "The tally does not include half a dozen victims who remain unidentified or dozens of others shot, wounded and fighting to survive."
Death comes at night in many of Caracas’ neighborhoods, when people protest against the Nicolas Maduro regime by banging on pots and pans. Soldiers and paramilitary gunmen appear suddenly, hunting opposition activists they call "the squalid ones."

The beleaguered Maduro regime has answered the challenge posed by Juan Guaidó’s becoming interim president of Venezuela by stepping up attacks on opponents, green-lighting operations that increase the number of dead day by day, according to human rights organizations.
It appears that President Maduro is not going to go easily. And that has much of the world worried:

Venezuela fight now over military support
[Beirut Daily Star] The battle for control of Venezuela turned Sunday to the armed forces as President Nicolas Maduro
Venezuela's attempt at producing a Muammar Qadaffy...
, wearing tan military fatigues, attended army exercises, met with troops and watched as tanks fired into a hillside. At the same time, supporters of opposition leader Juan Guaido handed out leaflets to soldiers, urging them to reject the socialist leader and explaining how they could be eligible for amnesty if they help return Venezuela to democracy.

"We are waiting for you, the soldiers of Venezuela," Guaido told a news conference, urging the armed forces not to shoot fellow citizens.

Sunday’s dueling appeals to the military followed a tense week as Venezuela took center stage in a global debate over who had a legitimate claim to power in the South American nation.

Maduro broke relations with the United States Wednesday after the Trump administration and many other nations in the region recognized Guaido, the head of the opposition-controlled National Assembly, as Venezuela’s interim president, a move that Maduro denounced as a coup attempt.

Protests in Honduras against president heat up
[PULSE.NG] Police used tear gas against protesters rallying against conservative President Juan Orlando Hernandez as marchers set tires on fire and blocked two key highways heading north and south of the capital.

"There are people who have been gassed and beaten" by police, ex-president Manuel Zelaya
... the very rich heir of a very rich landowner with a taste for massacres. As president of Honduras from 2006 to 2009 Manny hooked up with famously Communist Cuba and Venezuela, which annoyed enough of the country that a very confusing period ensued, in which the supreme court weighed in, the army kicked him out, President Obama threw American weight around to get the country to take him back, there was an election, and our hero and his family went briefly into exile before returning in 2011...
told UNE TV.

Demonstrators waved red and black flags and some wore red vests, as shows of support for Zelaya's Freedom and Refounding Party,
...which appears to be very active, along with American leftwing groups, in encouraging Hondurans to join the America-bound “caravans”...
known as Libre for short.

Some chanted "GET OUT J.O.H.," before setting bonfires out of police sight.

"People need a fair government, not a dictatorship," Zelaya told news hounds on a bus with supporters in the Colonia San Miguel neighborhood of the capital Tegucigalpa.

"Like wasps, we have launched a wave of escalating protests that will end in a national strike until this dictatorship falls."

Police hurled tear gas to break up demonstrators including Zelaya in another neighborhood, Colonia Kennedy.

Hernandez took office January 27, 2018 after being re-elected in a vote called fraud by the opposition alliance Zelaya leads.

Protesters erupted into the streets to demand that his candidate, popular television presenter Salvador Nasralla, be declared winner.

But the electoral tribunal declared Hernandez had won almost a month after the elections, amid violent protests also fueled by a constitutional ban on re-election.

Blackmail letters with suspected cyanide sent to Japanese firms
[PULSE.NG] Nine Japanese companies, including drugmakers and a newspaper, have received blackmail letters containing white powder suspected to be cyanide, police and local media said Sunday.

The letters were sent under the names of executed members of the Aum Shinrikyo -- the Japanese doomsday cult behind the deadly 1995 sarin gas attack in Tokyo -- and demanded 35 million won ($31,000) in bitcoins, a police front man told AFP.

"Major pharmaceutical and other companies... received envelopes with threatening letters and a powdery substance" suspected to be cyanide, he said, without identifying the companies.

"I will make fake medicine containing potassium cyanide and distribute it," the letter said, according to the front man, and warned "a tragedy will happen" if the money was not transferred by February 22.

Local media said the names on the letters -- which were received on Friday -- included Shoko Asahara, the charismatic leader of the sect who was executed with 12 of his one-time followers in July last year.

The white powdery substance was later confirmed to be cyanide, the Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported, adding that an similar envelope was also sent to the Tokyo headquarters of the Mainichi Shimbun newspaper.

Similar threatening letters were sent to some pharmaceutical companies in Osaka in January last year, Jiji Press reported.

Military recruits getting Made-in-the-USA athletic trainers
[Army Times - AP] NORRIDGEWOCK, Maine ‐ Thanks to congressional intervention, military recruits are going be outfitted in Made-in-the-USA goods right down to their sneakers used for physical fitness training.

New Balance in New England, along with two companies based in Texas and Missouri, is producing Made-in-the-USA running shoes for military recruits ‐ bolstering domestic production at a time when nearly all footwear purchased in the U.S. is made overseas.

The contract reflects only a sliver of the 3 million New Balance sneakers produced each year in the U.S. ‐ and even more worldwide.

But it's a big victory for workers at a plant in a quiet town of 3,500 people bisected by the Kennebec River, who say they are proud to be helping the military.

"We put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into making this shoe because we know where it's going," said Brandon Munroe, one of the 348 workers producing the military footwear at the New Balance plant in Norridgewock, Maine.

France’s ‘Red Scarves’ take to the streets to oppose ‘Yellow Vests’ in Paris
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Who are the Red Scarves?

Similar to the “Yellow Vests” protesters, the “Red Scarves” are calling for the same demands regarding salaries, pensions, and taxes, but are using a different approach.

Unlike the “Yellow Vests” – who are seeking instant economic reforms, and have questioned all aspects of French President Emmanuel Macron’s presidency – the “Red Scarves” have faith in his “grand national debate.”

The “Red Scarves” are awaiting the president’s final verdict on March. 15, but their patience was criticized by the opposing “Yellow Vest” movement who accuse them of being elitists.

Canada's relations with China were already bad. Then Trudeau fired his ambassador
Hong Kong (CNN)Canada's diplomatic rift with China looks set to deepen following the dismissal of the country's top diplomat in Beijing.

The forced departure of John McCallum, announced by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Saturday, is the latest unintended consequence stemming from the high-profile arrest of Chinese telecoms executive Meng Wanzhou in Vancouver last year.

The resignation comes just days after the former ambassador appeared to provide comments in support of China's assessment that Meng's arrest could be construed as politically motivated.

Meng, chief financial officer of Chinese tech giant Huawei, was arrested by Canadian authorities acting on behalf of the United States on December 1. The US government alleges that Meng helped Huawei dodge US sanctions on Iran and has indicated it will file a formal extradition request by the January 30 deadline.

Speaking to Chinese-language reporters in Beijing last week, McCallum said that Meng stood a good chance of avoiding extradition to the United States, suggesting that remarks made by US President Donald Trump had potentially strengthened her case.

His comments sparked outrage in Canada, with opposition party members demanding his immediate resignation. McCallum backtracked and offered an apology Thursday.

However, speaking to a reporter from the Vancouver Star about the case again on Friday, McCallum further embarrassed Trudeau's Liberal party government, saying that a decision by Washington to drop the extradition request would be "great for Canada."

[The Hill] In the span of a week, Sen. Kamala Harris has transformed into both a 2020 White House contender ... and an action figure.

The California Democrat is the latest political celebrity to get a mini-me version of herself from the company FCTRY.

Earlier this month, the Brooklyn-based manufacturer announced the release of its special counsel Robert Mueller action figure. It’s also fashioned figurines bearing the likenesses of Harris’s fellow 2020 White House contender Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and former President Obama. The current president has an "Evil Trump" figure ‐ complete with a pointed middle finger ‐ made in his image.

#10  and she may not have become a citizen herself.

If she was born on U.S. territory, she is an American citizen, regardless of the status of her parents, which is why so many monied foreigners send their womenfolk here to give birth. Unless you are suggesting the honourable senator at some point gave up her American citizenship, Besoeker, in which case she does not qualify to be a senator, never mind president.

Jirga fixes Rs1m compensation for each of 36 lives lost in tribal hostility
[DAWN] SHIKARPUR: A jirga (tribal court) presided over by Dr Mohammad Ibrahim Jatoi ‐ a highly influential and respectable feudal lord and former member of the National Assembly ‐ late on Friday evening fixed Rs1 million compensation against the loss of one life while settling a 24-year-old feud between the Bijarani and Teghani tribes that has claimed 36 lives and left scores of other people maimed so far, besides causing material losses to both sides.

Chieftains and elders of various other tribes, communities and clans who included provincial Minister Mir Shabbir Khan Bijarani, Sardar Mehboob Khan Bijarani, Mir Iqbal Khan Bijarani, Sardar Tegho Khan Teghani, Mir Sardar Khan Chandio, Sardar Usman Khan Almani, Mir Burhan Khan Chandio, Pir Basheer Ahmed Shah Jillani, Sardar Nazir Ahmed Khan Jamro and Jeay Sindh Mahaz-Riaz leader Riaz Ahmed Chandio assisted Dr Ibrahim Jatoi in reaching a conclusion in the dispute.

Some of the participants were nominated by the respective sides to effectively plead their case.

A large number of people, mainly from the rival Bijarani and Teghani tribes, attended the hours-long hearing.

After hearing the two sides and holding consultations with other tribal chieftains and elders ‐ called in such courts ameens and musheers ‐ Dr Ibrahim Jatoi gave his ruling fixing Rs1m for each of the 36 murders. He found Teghanis guilty of committing 19 and Bijaranis 17 murders. Accordingly, they were ordered to pay the compensation to the other side as per the amount fixed by the jirga in this particular case. They were supposed to make the payment in three monthly instalments.

Practically, only Teghanis will have to pay the differential, ie Rs2m.

The ruling was read out by Haji Karim Dino Badani and accepted by the two rival sides.

It made it clear that any side violating any provision of the ruling would have to pay a fine of Rs500,000 for each violation.

DSP suspended over brick kiln owner’s death ‘in custody’
[DAWN] GUJRAT: Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Amjad Javed Saleemi has suspended Kharian Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mian Arshad, who was booked in the murder case of a brick kiln owner allegedly in police custody on Friday.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
Arshad’s replacement has not been announced and no arrests made so far.

The 55-year-old brick kiln owner, Arshad, was laid to rest in his native village on Saturday with a heavy contingent of police deployed in the village as well as in Kotla town to maintain law and order situation.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his other shoulder......
Gujrat District Police Officer (DPO) Ali Mohsin posted Sub-Inspector Khawar Shahzad Gondal as the new station house officer (SHO) of Kakrali cop shoppe after the DPO had suspended the previous SHO, Ameer Abbas Chadhar, and moharrar of the cop shoppe on Friday after Arshad’s death at the station.

Doctors who had conducted the autopsy on Arshad’s body were yet to compile their report only after which it would be decided whether the samples collected from the body were needed to be sent to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency in Lahore for further examination.

A front man for the Gujrat police said that until the autopsy report was finalised the actual cause of death could not be ascertained. The family of the dear departed had blamed police and another person for torturing Arshad to death.

Export of chicken feet to China becomes a thriving business
[DAWN] Chicken feet have become a major export from the historic provincial capital to China in the recent months unlike the past when they were usually discarded.

Around 1,300 kilogrammes of chicken feet are collected from the markets of the historic provincial capital on a daily basis and transported to Islamabad for onward shipping to China.

The chicken feet, which were usually disposed of or given away free of charge to the people, who can’t afford to buy poultry, have now become a rare commodity in the local market.

Security personnel arrested the suspect, Ali Akbar alias Zafarullah, while acting on a tip-off about his location, said CTD SSP Murtaza Bhutto.

The police also claimed to have seized a Kalashnikov rifle and a hand grenade from his possession.

The convict has "confessed" to killing a total of six people in Balochistan, police said.

In 2004, he had murdered a man, Usman Umrani, in Kalat city over some personal enmity. Later on, he bumped off three witnesses of the said murder case. After his subsequent arrest, a local court in Balochistan sentenced him to death over the killing of the three witnesses, the officer revealed.

EU agency says Iran likely to step up cyber espionage
BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Iran is likely to expand its cyber espionage activities as its relations with Western powers worsen, the European Union digital security agency said on Monday.

Iranian hackers are behind several cyber attacks and online disinformation campaigns in recent years as the country tries to strengthen its clout in the Middle East and beyond, a Reuters Special Report published in November found.

This month the European Union imposed its first sanctions on Iran since world powers agreed a 2015 nuclear deal with Teheran, in a reaction to Iran’s ballistic missile tests and assassination plots on European soil.

"Newly imposed sanctions on Iran are likely to push the country to intensify state-sponsored cyber threat activities in pursuit of its geopolitical and strategic objectives at a regional level," the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) said in a report.

A senior Iranian official rejected the report, saying "these are all part of a psychological war launched by the United States and its allies against Iran".

America's Public Schools Have Become Socialist Indoctrination Factories
[Townhall] Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, wants to insert government into every aspect of your life, from education and health care to the kind of car you drive‐and she’s not alone. Millions of other Millennials agree that the world would be a better place if government were empowered to dramatically increase taxes and regulations and create massive new federal programs that could take care of Americans from the womb to the tomb. In fact, a 2018 Gallup poll found more than half of Americans aged 18 to 29 now view socialism positively. Only 45 percent said they have a positive view of capitalism.

The real question isn’t whether these socialist tendencies exist, but rather why they exist. How is it that the same generation that has benefited more from capitalism than any other in human history is also the generation most willing to destroy it?

One of the most commonly expressed answers to these questions is that America’s higher education system has turned into a bastion for leftist thought. A 2018 study of more than 8,600 tenure-track professors by Brooklyn College professor Mitchell Langbert found registered Democrats outnumber Republicans at 51 of America’s leading liberal arts colleges by a ratio of 10.4 to one.

As important as bias on college campuses is, it’s only one piece of the puzzle. Much of the problem goes back much further, to K‐12 schools, where only 27 percent of teachers identify as Republicans, according to a national survey by the Education Week Research Center. Not only are K‐12 teachers more likely to vote for Democrats and favor left-wing causes, socialist ideas permeate nearly every aspect of government-run schools.

Many on Facebook are deleted because of their condescension. Look at news media and their presentations. Look at all media they control or city states. They fail. Many of the youth I see know their games. I see a strong and many times self-educated youth. They endure and survive. Stronger in many ways. The easy road has no future.
