American woman, 22, dragged to her death by a lion after leaving car window open during South African safari
[DAILYMAIL.CO.UK] It is a hard thing when one has shot sixty-five lions or more, as I have in the course of my life, that the sixty-sixth should chew your leg like a quid of tobacco. It breaks the routine of the thing, and putting other considerations aside, I am an orderly man and don't like that.

Yet another New Army Uniform: 'OCP' Offers Updated Take On Classic Design For US Forces
[International Bus Times] The U.S. Army announced Monday that it has updated its camouflage uniforms once more in an ongoing effort to provide better protection for its soldiers, according to a news release by the Army News Service. The Army had previously released a new version of its uniform last summer.

All current Army personnel should use military funds allotted to each of them to buy the new uniforms, which are scheduled to be made available by July 1, said Sgt. Maj. Daniel A. Dailey. "All enlisted Soldiers receive an annual stipend for the purchase of uniforms and accessories. I myself will wait until I am issued my clothing allowance before purchasing a uniform with the Operational Camouflage Pattern," Dailey said. "I encourage all Soldiers and leaders to do the same by budgeting for a new uniform, belt, boots, and T-shirts as you receive your clothing allowance over the next 2-3 years."

It was unclear how much the new uniforms would cost soldiers, but it will be comparable to previous uniforms, according to the press release. New enlistees will be presented with the Operational Camouflage Pattern uniforms and will not be required to pay for them. There will be a two-year transition period to allow all Army enlistees a chance to buy the uniforms.
Might be humorous if it were not so sad, so very sad. Coming soon, the 'non-Operational' or Administrative (REMF) uniform. Hat tip to the Army Uniform Board, you bloody geniuses have done it again.

Two topless femen protesters arrested in Morocco
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Two members of controversial feminist campaign group Femen were tossed in the clink
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
on Tuesday in Morocco after protesting topless in front of a Rabat landmark against the kingdom's treatment of gays, authorities said.
Because gay men are interested in such sights? The things I don't know.
The women, aged 25 and 30, were arrested as they tried to return to La Belle France, Morocco's national security agency said.

The women appeared early Tuesday at the Tour Hassan site, which features a half-built minaret from the 12th century and the tomb of King Mohammed V.

The couple then stripped to the waist in the presence of a number of journalists and kissed while showing off naked torsos emblazoned with "in gay we trust." Security forces weren't present at the time.

Images shared on social media showed them embracing each other with their tops off in front of the Hassan Tower, a landmark minaret in the Moroccan capital.

"In gay we trust" is written in black on the torso of one of them.

Four PTI workers killed in Abbottabad shooting
[DAWN] ABBOTTABAD: Four people, said to be workers of Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI), were killed and another injured on Tuesday in a firing incident between workers of rival political parties.

The incident took place at a hotel near Abbottabad
... A pleasant city located only 30 convenient miles from Islamabad. The city is noted for its nice weather and good schools. It is the site of Pakistain's military academy, which was within comfortable walking distance of the residence of the late Osama bin Laden....
's Fawara Chowk, where five PTI workers were targeted, reported DawnNews. Two individuals was struck down in his prime, while the remaining three were shifted to Benazir Shaheed Hospital where two more gave up the ghost.

The dear departed individuals are Dostan, Nazir, Kala, and Zakir ur Rehman, while Naveed was injured.

The victims were allegedly targeted for their involvement in a clash at a Nangati polling station during local bodies election on May 30.

Police have started the paperwork but haven't done much else at Abbottabad's Cantonment cop shoppe. Chaudhry Sajid, a member of the PML-N, has been nominated as the attacker in the FIR.

A large number of coppers have been deployed in the area, where the situation was tense following festivities between rival political forces during and after local government polls.

PTI workers organised a protest gathering alongside the dead bodies on Shahrah-e-Resham, causing traffic jams in the area, but dispersed after successful negotiations with the police.

Rigging allegations against PTI member: Minister surrenders after high drama
[DAWN] DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Provincial revenue minister Ali Ameen Gandapur surrendered to the local police on Monday night after high drama.

The development comes reportedly after the intervention of the central PTI leadership. The minister was wanted in a case registered at the Saddar cop shoppe against him for snatching ballot boxes from the polling staff in Himad area and threatening them and police deployed there.

Dozens of coppers led by district police officer Sadiq Baloch showed up outside the minister's house in the evening and laid siege to the place. However,
denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
neither did the police enter the premises nor the minister stepped out to offer arrest.

Deputy commissioner Nisar Ahmad Khan accompanied the police.

In the meantime, reports surfaced about the fleeing of the minister from the house.

DPO claimed Gandapur breached the commitment he'd made with the police to court arrest.

He later retracted his statement and confirmed the surrender and said the minister was being shifted to a 'safe place' for interrogation instead of the cop shoppe.

Following the registration of case against him, Ali Ameen claimed he had not broken any law. He said he went to a polling station after learning about rigging in the counting of votes after the polling time ended. "At the polling station, I saw our man's rival candidates rig electoral process, I took away ballot boxes to check rigging," he said.

Action against Axact after FIA completes probe: SECP chairman
[DAWN] Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistain (SECP) Chairman Zafar Hijazi said Tuesday that the commission can only take action against local IT company Axact after completion of investigation into its involvement in a fake degrees scandal by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Addressing a Senate committee on finance and revenue, the SECP chairman said notices have been issued to Axact company, and a response is awaited till June 4.

"We did not know that a company registered in the name of IT was indulging in some other business," he said, adding that around the world there are authorities which monitor the businesses of companies.

The Senate committee was told that notices have also issued to Bol TV and other affiliated departments working with Axact.

A detailed NYT report titled "Fake Diplomas, Real Cash: Pak Company Axact Reaps Millions" and written by New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
Pakistain bureau chief Declan Walsh outlined how Axact -- referred to as a "secretive Pak software company" -- allegedly earned millions of dollars from scams involving fake degrees, non-existent online universities and manipulation of customers.

IHC orders demolition of illegally-constructed seminary
[DAWN] The Islamabad High Court on Monday ordered the demolition of a religious seminary illegally constructed on a graveyard land at Sector G-11 within a week.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the IHC issued the directions on a petition filed by a resident of G-11/3. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) was ordered to file a compliance report after retrieving the land.

"No religious seminary can be constructed in an illegal manner and without adopting a due procedure," Justice Siddiqui observed during the hearing of the petition. Addressing the counsel for the holy man who had encroached on the land, the judge remarked: "Do you have the permission from the CDA or any competent authority to establish the madressah?" In reply, the counsel said there were a number of madressahs in the capital running in a similar manner. However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
Justice Siddiqui reminded him that it was against the teachings of Islam to encroach upon another's land.

The petition filed by Amjad Ayub disclosed that in 2000 holy man Habibullah started imparting religious education to students in a makeshift arrangement in the graveyard. In 2002, he built two rooms to set up the so-called seminary. In 2003 and 2006, the CDA launched operations against the construction but the holy man not only managed to protect the structure but also continued expanding it. Because of the inaction by the civic agency, the structure was expanded to six rooms with a large basement and a separate mosque.
In a graveyard? Ick.
"Under the law, neither the CDA can allot the land reserved for the graveyard to anyone nor anyone can encroach on it," said Shamshadullah Cheema, the counsel for the petitioner.

"Whatever has been constructed on this land is, therefore, illegal and unlawful," he added. The petitioner requested the court to order the removal of the structure as it was expanding over the graves of his loved ones.

Legal experts believed that normally courts avoided passing orders in such 'sensitive' matters.

Former president Islamabad High Court (IHC) Mohsin Akhtar Kayani
... four star general, current Chief of Army Staff of the Mighty Pak Army. Kayani is the former Director General of ISI...
said due to the negligence of the CDA the illegal madressahs and other encroachments had grown manifold in the federal capital.

"When I started practice in Islamabad about two decades ago, the mosque near the district courts in Sector F-8 was quite small but now there is a six-bedroom house for the Khateeb alone." He said the F-8 sector was quite expensive and the rent of a six-bedroom house there would not be less than Rs150,000 per month.

It may be noted that during the scrutiny of the CDA accounts in 2011 the auditor general of Pakistain (AGP) office had stated that the illegal construction of madressahs and mosques in Islamabad caused a loss of Rs1.1 billion to the public exchequer.

Israel Performs Nation-Wide Drill to Prepare for 3-Front War
[Times of Israel] Israel will be briefly jolted back into last summer's ordeal with rockets, sirens and army maneuvers beginning Sunday, as the military's Home Front Command holds a yearly emergency drill simulating three enemies attacking the country at once.

Turning Point 15 will test the preparedness of the country to deal with a massive coordinated rocket attack on population centers across Israel, including damage to essential infrastructure, as well as a cyber attack that brings down the electrical and telephone grids.

It is expected to last five days. On Tuesday, two rocket sirens will ring out in cities across the country -- at 11:05 a.m. and 7:05 p.m. -- and people will be asked to rush to bomb shelters in a test of their ability to seek cover in case of rocket attack.

Sirens, however, will not sound near the Gaza Strip after residents, scarred by last summer's war, asked to be excluded.

The drill, which will simulate simultaneous attacks from the Gaza Strip, Syria and Lebanon, will involve Home Front command officers, as well as police, medics, firefighters, local officials and other bodies.

The air force and navy will also run large exercises over the week. Among the simulated challenges will be drilling for the closing of Ben-Gurion International Airport due to attacks, evacuating wounded out of the country, large population movements as people seek to find shelter and the creation of tent cities, according to the Walla news site.

The Home Front Command will also test a new system designed to inform citizens of rocket attacks in their area via text messages.
