'We called a month ago, and now a child's dead': Neighbors of Cash Gernon reported 'killer' Darriynn Brown to police 'several times' for breaking into cars and menacing behavior but they never followed up
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News]
  • A neighbor of slain 4-year-old Cash Gernon says he saw Darriynn Brown trying to break into cars a month before the boy was killed

  • Brown, 18, was also believed to have been spotted on April 19 breaking a home surveillance camera

  • 'We called a month ago, and now a child's dead'

  • Other neighbors say they reported Brown to police 'several times' but there was no follow up on the complaints

  • On May 15, Cash was snatched from his bed in father’s ex-girlfriend’s house by Brown

  • Brown had been watching the Gernon home for weeks and was spotted hovering around on surveillance cameras about 10 weeks before the killing

  • He's been charged with kidnapping and theft in relation Cash's death, and police are awaiting forensic results to decide on murder charges

  • Cash Gernon's father said he paid the 'ultimate price' for leaving his twin sons with his ex-girlfriend while he skipped town to avoid being arrested on felony drug charges

Man with NYPD sweatshirt, license plate and real-looking gun busted in Times Square
[NYPOST] A man in an NYPD sweatshirt with a holstered weapon that looked like a handgun was found skulking around the "Good Morning America" studios in Times Square early Tuesday, police sources said.

Abm Faisal, 31, was first spotted in his car by an off-duty NYPD detective who was working security outside Times Square Studios on Broadway near West 44th Street around 5:15 a.m. the sources said. The car had a thin blue line American flag that symbolizes support for the police, US Army decals and a decorative front NYPD license plate.

The two briefly chatted before Faisal got out and walked off.

About an hour later, the detective, who worked security for a company contracted out by GMA, spotted the suspect getting up from a table at a pedestrian area.

The off-duty cop told The Post Faisal’s jacket was pushed back behind a holster on a waistband holding what appeared to be a handgun.

The guard said he took notice of Faisal’s NYPD shirt — but immediately thought that he couldn’t be a cop.

The guard notified other NYPD officers who were working paid detail security at ABC — and then stood at a distance to make sure nothing happened to the cops, he said.

Two officers approached the suspect, told him to put his hands up and took the weapon out of the holster without incident, cops said.

It turned out to be a BB gun, the sources said.

Faisal, of Bensonhurst, was brought to the Midtown South Precinct stationhouse and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, cops said.

It was not immediately clear whether Faisal would be ticketed for the NYPD vanity plate, according to police sources. In New York State, where valid plates are required in the front and back of a vehicle.

The suspect's vehicle had an an emergency light and NYPD decorative license plate.

Police were waiting to conduct a search warrant on the car Tuesday afternoon.

Faisal has a history as an emotionally disturbed person, according to sources.

He has prior arrests in the Big Apple for grand larceny, the sources said, and was once busted in Bristol, UK.

At least six people, including two teens, shot in NYC overnight
[NYPOST] At least six people — including two teens — were shot in separate incidents across the Big Apple overnight, cops said.

The youngest victim was a 17-year-old boy who was blasted in the back around 10:15 p.m. Sunday during a dispute at Frederick Douglass Boulevard and West 120th Street in Harlem, cops said.

He was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable, pH balanced condition.

Shortly before 1 a.m. Monday, an 18-year-old woman was shot in the back when someone fired rounds from a car at Beekman Avenue and St. Mary’s Street, near St. Mary’s Park, in Mott Haven, police said.

It was unclear whether the victim — who was taken to Lincoln Medical Center in stable, pH balanced condition — was the intended target.

In Queens, a 35-year-old man was left clinging to life after he was shot on 90th Street near Park Lane South around 11:30 p.m. Sunday in Woodhaven, cops said.

Missing man found dead inside dinosaur statue in Spain
[NYPOST] The death of a 39-year-old man is being investigated after his body was found inside a papier-mâché dinosaur statue in a Barcelona suburb.
We seen dis movie.
According to the Latin Times, Catalonian newspaper La Vanguardia reported Saturday that police were alerted to the corpse after residents in the Santa Coloma de Gramenet neighborhood saw what looked like a human leg through a crack in the Stegosaurus sculpture — while also noticing a foul smell.

Firefighters were called to the scene and forced to cut open the statue to reveal the body inside.

The body was that of a man who had been reported missing, according to Euro News Weekly, though no foul play is suspected. Spanish media has reported that the unnamed man had somehow dropped his cellphone inside the giant figure, fell inside while trying to retrieve it and was unable to climb out or call for help.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shouting match, the spittle had reached unprecedented levels...
the statue, which had been used by a now-defunct cinema for advertising purposes, has been removed from the public square.

An autopsy is being performed to confirm the cause of death, according to the Latin Times.

71-year-old Asian-American warns others after dragged by car in brutal Oakland attack
[ABC7NEWS] A 71-year-old man was brutally attacked, bitten, and dragged down an Oakland street in broad daylight, prompting a community leader and witness to speak out in hopes it'll encourage others to do the same.

"I love Oakland...but not anymore," said the man before he opens his jaws wide. The victim who is ethnically Chinese but identifies as culturally Latino and Asian shows off his mouth which is missing seven teeth. He doesn't want us to use his name, explaining how terrified he is after the run-in he had with a woman while retrieving a trash can from the curb in the Grand Lake neighborhood on May 19.

Speaking slowly due to his injuries, he explained how he noticed a car stopped near the home's driveway. When he asked the car to move "the lady pulled me from my back, pushed me toward the car."

The woman in the car allegedly tried to steal his wallet and cell phone. When she was unsuccessful, things took a nasty turn.

"To distract me she bit me on my hand...she grabbed my neck and she pulled my necklace and took it," said the man, who clutched a plastic bag full of medical fluid he purchased to care for his multiple bruises and scabs.

Joint Special Operations Command Personnel Encouraged to Attend Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Conference
[Breitbart] Personnel for Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), a secretive component of the United States military’s Special Operations Command, are being encouraged to attend virtual conferences on diversity, equity, and inclusion, among other topics considered beneficial for their "professional development," according to two sources.

Emails obtained by Breitbart News and sent out from JSOC’s Civilian Training Office to JSOC personnel — both civilian and military — in April and May encouraged them to attend the virtual conferences, which would also be broadcast at their compound at Fort Bragg.

One email sent on May 20, 2021, reminded JSOC personnel that they had access to the conferences "at no cost (normally $500 a session per person)."

The email highlighted the three next upcoming conferences, which would be broadcast in a classroom for JSOC personnel — one on "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion"; another on "Change & Transformation"; and another on "Emotional Well-Being."

The conference on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, which started on Monday, included panels on:

#9  More fun and games with the Woke Scammers known as "White Men As Full Diversity Partners," this is from Lockheed Martin's 3-day diversity training for senior execs in how to deconstruct and atone for their "white male privilege."

Excerpt:

The trainers provided the participants with a list of 156 “white privilege statements,” “male privilege statements,” and “heterosexual privilege statements” to read and discuss, including: “My culture teaches me to minimize the perspectives and powers of people of other races”; “I can commit acts of terrorism, violence or crime and not have it attributed to my race”; “My earning potential is 15-33% higher than a woman’s”; “My reproductive organs are not seen as the property of other men, the government, and/or even strangers because of my gender”; “I am not asked to think about why I am straight”; “I can have friendships with or work around children without being accused of recruiting or molesting them.”

Finally, in order to cement the idea that white male culture is “devastating” to racial minorities and women, the trainers had the Lockheed employees read a series of “I’m tired” statements from fictitious racial minorities and women. The statements included: “I’m tired of being Black”; “I’m tired of you making more money than me”; “I’m tired of people disparaging our campaigns (like Black Lives Matter)”; “I’m tired of Black boys/girls being murdered”; “I’m tired of people thinking they’re smarter and more qualified than me”; “I’m tired of hearing about how we need a wall at the southern borders but not on the northern borders”; “I’m tired of the desire or comment to remove race—the concept that we should be ‘colorblind.’”

Federal government spent nearly $2 million on experiments sewing fetal scalps to rats
[Just The News] The federal government funneled nearly $2 million in taxpayer dollars to controversial research that sewed aborted fetal scalps onto the skin of mice and rats in order to conduct experiments in human skin infection.

That research, conducted at the University of Pittsburgh, has generated considerable controversy due to its procurement of fully intact skin from aborted fetuses, as well as the graphic results of those experiments in which the fetal skin, having been attached to the rodents, subsequently grew human hair.

Records show that the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases funded that research to the tune of over $400,000. A full accounting of the project's funding stream, however, shows taxpayer contributions totaling almost five times that amount.

A spokeswoman for the NIAID told Just the News this week that grants from both that agency and the National Institutes of Health's Fogarty International Center add up to over $1.9 million.

"Total funding for the NIAID grant is $430,270," the spokeswoman said. "The FIC grant was awarded to the University of Pittsburgh ... in FY15, and the last year of the project is FY19. Total funding for the FIC grant is 1,498,642."

The agency said that the NIH "is committed to ensuring t

'We Have Guns': Rand Paul's Wife Sends Simple Message After Receiving Threatening Note
[Western Journal] Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul’s wife took no prisoners in a Twitter thread blasting political extremists, following a death threat sent to their house.

"I got the death threat letter and called the FBI. This kind of violent threat is fomented against Rand daily by @ReallyAmerican1, a Dem PAC that pays thugs like @mmpadellan, to celebrate the assault that nearly killed Rand. @DNC ignores. @richardmarx was inciting more violence just this weekend," Kelley wrote.

"For years people like @BetteMidler have cheered Rand’s horrific attack and serious injuries. The former teacher of the year @RodRobinsonRVA tweeted that Rand’s attacker was a ’hero’ and urged Mitch McConnell’s neighbors to ’step up’. Why is he still teaching?"

"I am sick of the hatred and vitriol from people who boast of their ’empathy and compassion’ in their bios. Rand will continue to stand up for our constitutionally protected liberties."

"We won’t be intimidated. And yes, we have guns," Paul concluded.

Tennessee becomes latest state to ban 'divisive' critical race theory in public schools - joining Oklahoma, Idaho and Arkansas
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News]
  • Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed into law a bill banning critical race theory from being taught in schools on Monday, following Idaho and Oklahoma

  • Lee has said students should learn about American exceptionalism rather than divisive topics

  • North Carolina, Texas, Arizona, Louisiana, Iowa, Missouri, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and West Virginia are currently debating, or in the process of approving, similar bills

  • Arkansas also passed a bill banning the theory from being taught at state agencies,

  • Those against critical race theory have argued it reduces people to the categories of 'privileged' or 'oppressed' based on their skin color

  • Supporters, however, say the theory is vital to eliminating racism because it examines the ways in which race influence US politics, culture and the law

Are children dying like dogs in effort to build better batteries?
[Deseret] “Our children are dying like dogs.”

That is the sorrowful statement of one Congolese mother whose son and cousin died while working the cobalt mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

She and other parents like her are part of a class-action lawsuit filed in U.S. federal court in Washington, D.C., in 2019 seeking to hold Apple, Alphabet (the parent company of Google), Dell Technologies, Microsoft and Tesla accountable for what they allege is profiting off the misery of child labor in their quest for cobalt.

“Cobalt is a key component of every rechargeable lithium-ion battery in all of the gadgets made by defendants and all other tech and electric car companies in the world that has brought on the latest wave of cruel exploitation fueled by greed, corruption and indifference to a population of powerless, starving Congolese people,” the suit reads.

"Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no."

Leaving aside the question of whether we should make batteries from children, I do give them style points for alliteration. "Dying like dogs" and "build better batteries" is good. Maybe go for a trifecta by appending "so we can toodle about in Teslas".

During her visit to Shyrokyne, MEP and member of the EU Foreign Affairs Committee Viola von Cramont-Taubadel said that EU leaders should collectively consider how to effectively help Ukraine, namely how to provide Kiev with defensive weapons.

Let us remind you that two weeks ago the military attachés of Sweden, Norway and Denmark paid a visit to Donbass . The members of the delegation visited the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which carry out tasks on the line of contact with the enemy.

Prior to this, the JFO zone was visited by three foreign ministers - the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Biden blasts Belarus plane diversion as US vows to hold regime 'to account'
[NYPOST] President Joe Biden
...... 46th president of the U.S. Old, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant... or is that an act?......
has directed his team to draft potential measures to respond to Belarus’ forced landing of a passenger jet to arrest an opposition journalist, he revealed in a new statement — calling the action an "outrageous incident."

The statement, released Monday evening, came in response to growing international outrage over the diversion of a Ryanair flight to arrest Raman Pratasevich, an opposition figure in Belarus and a passenger on board, in what Biden called "a direct affront to international norms."

"I join the many calls for an international investigation to ascertain the complete facts of the case," the commander-in-chief stated.

"I welcome the news that the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
has called for targeted economic sanctions and other measures, and have asked my team to develop appropriate options to hold accountable those responsible, in close coordination with the European Union, other allies and partners, and international organizations."

Hours before Biden’s statement was released, the EU announced that it would impose more sanctions on the embattled Eastern European nation while calling on its airlines to avoid Belarusian airspace.

Fauci and NIH admit giving $600K to Wuhan to study how viruses can transmit from bats to humans before COVID-19 outbreak - after being accused of funding 'gain of function' research in heated argument with Rand Paul
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News]
  • Anthony Fauci on Tuesday appeared before a Congressional budget committee

  • Fauci defended the spending of $600,000 on the Wuhan laboratory

  • Scientists now believe it is possible that COVID-19 escaped from the Wuhan lab

  • Fauci said the money, to be spend over five years, was 'modest'

  • He denied again that the cash was spent on 'gain of function' research

  • The controversial experiments make viruses more deadly or transmissible

  • On May 11 Fauci and Rand Paul sparred over how the U.S. funding was spent

  • Fauci insisted it was not spent on 'gain of function'; Paul said it was

  • Trump on Tuesday reacted with delight at people now believing 'lab leak'

#2  $600k to Wuhan...

I believe this sort of thing is referred to as 'contracting for services.' UK MI-6 fella Mr. Christopher Steele might be able to provide additional information and contacts.

Some may recall the French had similar 'off-set' testing arrangements in the 1960's. Here is a memory jogger.

$600. was very likely seed money. Just say'n.

All I can do is shake my head on that one. The media didn't accept anything from Trump in four years, but that's his fault. Uh, yeah, got it.

Pope to Vatican's own media workers: Who reads your news?
[NYPOST] Pope Francis
...Argentine liberation theologist, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio. He was elected pope in 2013. Rather than setting up shop in Avignon, where he belongs, the first Jesuit Pope chose to reside in the Domus Sanctae Marthae guesthouse instead of the papal apartments. He is big on climate change, against consumerism, and in favor of throwing a blanket over homosexual activity within the clergy. He's not real sure about the Resurrection, about Christ's divinity, and a few other things that would have gotten him burned at the stake a few hundred years ago, but he's hot for a certain South American Earth Mother Goddess...
challenged the Vatican’s own media employees Monday to essentially justify their continued work, asking them how many people actually consume their news in a critique of the office that costs the Holy See more than all its embassies around the world combined.

Francis visited the Dicastry of Communications, Vatican Radio and the headquarters of the Vatican’s newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano, which is marking its 160th anniversary. He appeared to use the occasion to lay down the gauntlet at a fraught financial time for the Holy See.

Facing a major pension funding shortage and a projected $61 million deficit this year, Francis has ordered salary cuts from 3% to 10% for senior Vatican employees, both lay and religious, and paused seniority bonuses for two years.

Francis has vowed not to fire anyone to offset the economic crisis created by COVID-19 and the pandemic-related shuttering of one of the Holy See’s main sources of revenue, ticket sales from the Vatican Museums.

But in a warning of sorts to the Vatican communications staff, he opened his unscripted remarks Monday with a pointed question.

"There are a lot of reasons to be worried about the Radio, L’Osservatore, but one that touches my heart: How many people listen to the Radio? How many people read L’Osservatore Romano?" Francis asked.

He said their work was good, their offices nice and organized, but that there was a "danger" that their work doesn’t arrive where it is supposed to. He warned them against falling prey to a "lethal" functionality where they go through the motions but don’t actually achieve anything.

Feeding mitochondria: Potential role of nutritional components to improve critical illness convalescence
There is evidence starting to appear that suggests Covid damages mitochondria in your cells. This is an article about how to put mitochondria in a better health situation.
ABSTRACT
Persistent physical impairment is frequently encountered after critical illness. Recent data point towards mitochondrial dysfunction as an important determinant of this phenomenon. This narrative review provides a comprehensive overview of the present knowledge of mitochondrial function during and after critical illness and the role and potential therapeutic applications of specific micronutrients to restore mitochondrial function. Increased lactate levels and decreased mitochondrial ATP-production are common findings during critical illness and considered to be associated with decreased activity of muscle mitochondrial complexes in the electron transfer system. Adequate nutrient levels are essential for mitochondrial function as several specific micronutrients play crucial roles in energy metabolism and ATP-production. We have addressed the role of B vitamins, ascorbic acid, α-tocopherol, selenium, zinc, coenzyme Q10, caffeine, melatonin, carnitine, nitrate, lipoic acid and taurine in mitochondrial function. B vitamins and lipoic acid are essential in the tricarboxylic acid cycle, while selenium, α-tocopherol, Coenzyme Q10, caffeine, and melatonin are suggested to boost the electron transfer system function. Carnitine is essential for fatty acid beta-oxidation. Selenium is involved in mitochondrial biogenesis. Notwithstanding the documented importance of several nutritional components for optimal mitochondrial function, at present, there are no studies providing directions for optimal requirements during or after critical illness although deficiencies of these specific micronutrients involved in mitochondrial metabolism are common.
