Afghan Carpet Exports Surge by 30%, Ministry Reports
It gives the girls something to do, now that they have no school to look forward to, and a way to make money that doesn’t involve being sold in marriage or living as a boy.
[ToloNews] The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has revealed that the export of Afghan carpets has seen an upswing of 30% over the past four months when compared to the same period last year.

According to ministry data spanning from the solar months of Hamal to Saratan (March 21 to July 22), Afghan carpets worth more than $7 million have been exported to various countries, including The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Italia, and Uzbekistan.

"During the initial three months of the first quarter of [solar year] 1402, carpet exports reached $4,470,000," stated Abdul Salam Jawad, spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

Notably, some carpet exporters spoke about a notable surge in direct exports of Afghan carpets to European and American nations.

In the past year, our sales have increased, and a significant number of our customers are from abroad. We are now also facilitating our own transfers," revealed Mohammad Sabir, a carpet vendor.

Sayed Mohammad, another carpet vendor, emphasized the quality of Afghan carpets, expressing hope for support from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to further boost production and sales in this sector.

"Our carpet is the best in the world. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan should help us and our investors to have production and sales in this field," Mohammad said.

The Union of Carpet Producers and Exporters emphasized the positive impact of international exhibitions on promoting the Afghan handwoven carpet industry. Hosting such exhibitions has proved pivotal in driving exports upward.

"We recently witnessed a triumphant exhibition in the city of Astana, Kazakhstan. We remain optimistic that such exhibitions will continue to be organized, affording us the opportunity to showcase our products," said Noor Ahmad Noori, head of the Union of Carpet Producers and Exporters.

Ministry of Industry and Commerce statistics outline that Afghanistan's carpet exports reached approximately $22 million in value during the solar year 1401

(2022), with key markets including Pakistain, Turkey, the United States, Uzbekistan, and the United Arab Emirates.

However, the traditional Afghan focus on rusts, reds, blacks and browns, and the use of stylized 'guls' have never really attracted serious buyers like the rugs from the Caucasus, Iran and Turkey have.

Niger Coup News Roundup for August 13th, 2023
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
Nigeria announces military preparations for Operation ECOWAS

[Regnum] The Nigerian Defense Headquarters has begun preparations for a possible mobilization of troops to conduct a military operation against the rebels in Niger under the auspices of the Economic Community of West African Nations (ECOWAS). On Sunday, August 13, the Punch newspaper reported.

According to the source, the Nigerian Armed Forces High Command instructed unit leaders to provide the Defense Headquarters with detailed information on personnel readiness, equipment and logistics in order to prepare for the intervention in Niger.

It is noted that the Nigerian Armed Forces are considering using from 300 thousand to one million of their military personnel in the ECOWAS operation against the rebels in Niger.

As IA Regnum reported, on August 11, Agence France-Presse reported that ECOWAS had postponed the meeting of the heads of the general staffs of the countries on the situation in Niger for an indefinite period. Initially, the meeting was scheduled for August 12, the postponement of the date was explained by the occurrence of technical difficulties.

Earlier, the President of Côte d'Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara , said that the Economic Community of West African Countries, following the United States of America and France, supported the early start of a military intervention operation in Niger.

Plans to invade Niger lead to dispute at ECOWAS

Members of Parliament of the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) are trying to resolve the differences that arose because of the organization's plans to launch a military intervention in Niger, where a coup d'état took place at the end of July. This was reported by the Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera.

Al Jazeera: ECOWAS Parliament Tries to Negotiate Niger Invasion
Deputies must agree on a common position in order to make a specific decision. Some parliamentarians believe that the only way to restore constitutional order in the country is through diplomacy and dialogue.

This group of deputies calls for the lifting of sanctions against Niger, which were introduced earlier by the decision of ECOWAS. Parliamentarians believe that the restrictions "hit the citizens, not the leaders of the coup."

Another part of the members of parliament calls for decisive action and an intervention in Niger.

As IA Regnum reported , on August 10, the President of Côte d'Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara , said that ECOWAS, following the United States and France, supported the early start of an operation for military intervention in Niger. The head of the republic added that his country would send from 850 to 1100 thousand of its troops for the invasion.

On August 11, ECOWAS postponed indefinitely "for technical reasons" a meeting of the heads of the general staffs of the states that make up this community. The event was supposed to discuss further plans for the activation and deployment of the organization's reserve forces.

In Niger, the Prime Minister called the sanctions imposed by ECOWAS inhumane

The sanctions imposed by the Economic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS) against Niger were called for by the head of the country's transitional government, Ali Lamine Zein . This was announced on August 12 by the RTN TV channel.

Ali Lamine Zein was appointed to the position of Prime Minister by the head of the National Council for the Salvation of the Homeland, General Abdurahman Tchiani . In this capacity, Zein met with a delegation of Nigerian religious leaders who had come to Niamey on a mediation mission.

The Prime Minister described the meeting as very important for the rapprochement between Niger and Nigeria and indicated that the religious leaders had given him a message from the President of Nigeria. It refers to the lifting of ECOWAS sanctions. Zein called the ECOWAS restrictive measures against Niger "inhumane, unfair and unacceptable" as they are contrary to the rules and regulations set by the community.

“We remain open to mediation in order to remove all these restrictions and normalize the situation,” the Prime Minister of Niger concluded.

Earlier , IA Regnum reported that the European Union is preparing the introduction of individual sanctions against Niger in support of the efforts of the Economic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS) to "restore democracy" in the republic.

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said the EU will continue to deliver humanitarian aid to Niger and stand by the people of the country, "especially in the name of protecting their human rights."

United Nations denies paying ransom to Al-Qaeda for release of five employees from captivity
Do you believe them, dear Reader? I do, but then I am well known to be gullible.
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
reported that it had not paid a ransom for the release of a number of its employees who have been kidnapped by al-Qaeda since February of last year 2022, in Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
province, southern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
The United Nations Coordinator in Yemen, David Gresley, confirmed that no ransom was paid in order to release five UN employees who were kidnapped by al-Qaeda.

"We at the United Nations do not pay the ransom, and this often leads to prolonged detention, because the hostage-takers have to understand that the ransom money will not come," Mr. David Gressly, the United Nations Resident Coordinator / Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, said in a statement on Saturday.

Gressly added, "I will not go into details, but there are strenuous efforts made by many parties inside and outside the United Nations in order to work for their release," without giving further details about the release process.

In the other hand, some sources stated that the mediator between Al Qaeda and the UAE acquired an amount of one million dollars in return for the efforts he made, and handed over an amount of 2 million dollars, which equals two billion seven hundred million riyals, according to the price of the dollar in Aden city.

Reports noted that the UAE paid a ransom of $3 million to al-Qaeda for the release of the five employees of the UN. Political observers considered that the ransom paid by the UAE would be an indirect support to win the loyalty of terrorist groups in the Yemeni areas controlled by the coalition.

Britain
UK launches international manhunt for Pakistan origin suspects in minor girl murder
[GEO.TV] An international search has been launched after the killing of a British-Pak child in England’s Surrey and the police have said they want to speak to three Pakistain origin men suspected of involvement in the murder.

Sara, the 10-year-old child, was killed on Friday in the village of Horsell near Woking, just outside of London.

The police have not said where the three suspects have fled to but one source said the UK police are already in touch with the Pak police.

It has been revealed that the murdered child’s father is a Pak taxi driver, Malik Urfan Sharif, 31, who came to the UK from Pakistain around 20 years ago and moved into the three-bedroom £550,000 council house in the quiet village of Horsell near Woking in April with his wife Beenish and children.

Locals have said they have been left shocked by the news with one saying: "I just can't believe it. He is such a friendly guy who adores his kids. He's been living in the UK for years and is originally from Pakistain. He works as a taxi driver with a hackney plate outside Woking station."

Another neighbour confirmed the identity when shown his social media profile and added: "He was a big fan of Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who isn't your heaviest-duty thinker, maybe not even among the top five...
and had a picture of him in his car."

Neighbours have said that two cars had disappeared from the driveway of the house the same night Sara died. Both cars were gone by the time emergency services swarmed the residential road at 2.50am (GMT) amid reports of concern for a child's welfare.

On Facebook, Sara's father has been vociferous about the cost of taxi licences and three years ago commented on how he had paid £1,145 for an annual permit in a posting on fees.

It is not known if Sharif is one of the three people who Surrey police say they are looking for and who fled the country the day before the girl's body was found. There are also several clips of former Pakistain prime minister Imran Khan on his Facebook page and TikTok.

Detective Chief Inspector Debbie White said on Friday: "Our investigation into this tragic incident has continued at pace today with a number of enquiries underway. We have identified three people we would like to speak to in connection with our investigation and from our enquiries, we believe that they left the country on Wednesday, 9 August. We are working with our partners, including international authorities, to locate them.

"Officers have been in the local area today carrying out house-to-house inquiries and we expect a police presence to remain around the scene over the coming week."

Inspector Sandra Carlier, Borough Commander for Woking, added: "I know that the community is shocked and saddened by [the] events, and we stand with them in their grief. Officers will remain in the area carrying out patrols and enquiries as part of the investigation over the weekend.

"I would like to reiterate that we do not believe there to be any risk to the wider public at this time. We will continue to provide updates as and when we are able to."

Polish government plans referendum asking if voters want 'thousands of illegal immigrants' from Middle East/North Africa
[AlAhram] Poland’s ruling party wants to ask voters in a referendum whether they support accepting "thousands of illegal immigrants colonists from the Middle East and Africa" as part of a European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
relocation plan, the prime minister said Sunday, as his conservative party seeks to stave off a challenge from the political opposition.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced the referendum question in a new video published on social media. It indicated that his party, Law and Justice, is seeking to use migration in his general election campaign, a tactic that helped it take power in 2015.

The government has previously said it wants to hold the referendum alongside the fall parliamentary election, scheduled for Oct. 15. Leaders have announced two other questions in recent days.

Morawiecki said that the question would say: "Do you support the admission of thousands of illegal immigrants colonists from the Middle East and Africa under the forced relocation mechanism imposed by the European bureaucracy?"

European Union interior ministers in June endorsed a plan to share out responsibility for migrants colonists entering Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
without authorization, the root of one of the bloc’s longest-running political crises. The ministers endorsed a deal balancing the obligation for countries where most migrants colonists arrive to process and lodge them against the requirement for other members to provide support, whether financial or by hosting refugees.

Law and Justice has long been in conflict with the 27-member European Union over a perception by the bloc that the Warsaw government’s changes to the judiciary and media amount to democratic erosion.

Europe’s asylum system collapsed eight years ago after well over a million people entered — most of them fleeing conflict in Syria — and overwhelmed reception capacities in Greece and Italia, in the process sparking one of the EU’s biggest political crises.

The 27 EU nations have bickered ever since over which countries should take responsibility for people arriving without authorization, and whether other members should be obliged to help them cope.

Andy Ngo speaks out after losing civil suit against Rose City Antifa: 'I didn't receive justice'
[FoxNews] A jury in Multnomah County, Oregon, found Portland activists John Hacker and Elizabeth Richter not liable for assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress for their alleged attack on journalist Andy Ngo, according to a press release from The Center for American Liberty, the organization representing Ngo.

Ngo and his attorney Eric Sell joined "The Ingraham Angle" to respond.
From the Center for American Liberty press release:
On Tuesday, after a seven-day trial, the jury in Andy Ngo v. Rose City Antifa, et al. found two defendants not liable for assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress for their alleged attack on independent journalist Andy Ngo.

The verdict sends a dangerous message to violent extremist groups: no one will stop you from your violent and wrongful activities.

While this verdict is disappointing, Ngo won a settlement with one of the other defendants in the case and obtained default of three defendants who failed to show up for court. This is not the end of Ngo’s battle for justice after years of suffering at the hands of Antifa members, and it’s certainly not the end of Ngo’s brave reporting on the activities of this violent, extremist movement.

#6  This is how the left in Portland see Ngo as described in the Portland Mercury. It portrays Ngo as:

"Ngo's antics have landed him on the Southern Poverty Law Center's Hatewatch lists, which describes him thusly:

"What Ngo has portrayed as his journalistic work largely consists of publishing anti-antifa, Islamophobic and transphobic tweets and articles to his sizable Twitter following, along with disseminating the arrest records and personal details of left-wing demonstrators."

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel will not allow a Saudi consulate for Palestinians in Jerusalem: FM
Trying — and failing — to create facts on the ground. Oh well.
[AlAhram] Israel said on Sunday that it will not allow Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
to open a diplomatic mission in Jerusalem just, a day after the Kingdom named its first-ever ambassador to Paleostine.

"We will not allow the opening of any diplomatic representation to the Paleostinians in Jerusalem," Israel’s Foreign Minister Eli Cohen told the country’s Radio 103FM on Sunday.

Israel knew that Saudi Arabia planned to appoint a non-resident ambassador to the Paleostinians but the matter was not coordinated with Israel, Cohen said.

He suggested that the Saudi step came "on the background of the progress of the talks between the US and the Saudis regarding normalizing ties with Israel."

"The Saudis wanted to send a message to the Paleostinians that they didn’t forget them. But we don't allow countries to open consulates. It's incompatible with our position," Cohen added.

"The Paleostinian matter is not central in talks, since the Likud, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, brought the recent peace agreement, it means that the Paleostinians are not a barrier to peace. That is not the matter that will prevent it."

On Saturday, Saudi Arabia named a non-resident ambassador for the kingdom in Paleostine who will also serve as consul general in Jerusalem, a new position announced amid speculation about possible future ties with Israel.

The role will be filled by Nayef al-Sudairi, the current Saudi ambassador to Jordan, according to a social media post from the kingdom's embassy in Amman that was confirmed by a foreign ministry official.

The appointment represents "an important step" underscoring the desire of King Salman
...either the largest species of Pacific salmon or the current Sheikh of the Burnin' Sands, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Lord of Most of the Arabians...
and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
...Crown Prince and modernizer of Saudi Arabia as of 2016. The Turks hate him, so he must be all right, despite the occasional brutal murder of Qatar-owned journalists...
"to strengthen relations with the brothers of the State of Paleostine and give it a formal boost in all areas," Sudairi said in a video broadcast by the Saudi state-affiliated al-Ekhbariya channel.

The file for the occupied Paleostinian territories has traditionally been handled by the kingdom's embassy in Amman.

Saudi Arabia does not recognize Israel and did not join the 2020 US-brokered Abraham Accords that saw Israel establish ties with two of the kingdom's neighbours - the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

's tour of the Middle East last year, the Saudi civil aviation authority lifted overflight restrictions on "all carriers," paving the way for Israeli planes to use Saudi airspace.

In June of this year, during a presser with his American counterpart Anthony Blinken in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan confirmed that normalization with Israel is in the interest of the region, but stressed that the Paleostinian issue must be addressed first.

Yet, in recent months, Riyadh and Washington have held talks on Saudi conditions for progress on normalization with Israel, including security guarantees and assistance with a civilian nuclear program with uranium enrichment capacity, according to AFP citing people briefed on the meetings.

While admitting there are many obstacles facing this possible agreement, Cohen said: "Looking at the data, I think we can reach agreements. It’s complex but possible."

The Israeli foreign minister estimated that normalization between his country and Saudi Arabia could happen in 9-12 months, according to the Israeli JPost newspaper.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Leaked documents show size of Iran’s support to Syria
[NPASyria] Leaked documents from the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs show that Tehran spent $50 billion to support Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

The Middle East Monitor reported that an Iranian hacking group leaked documents that show that in the past ten years Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. Being the political wing is much less likely to get ine killed...
The documents reveal Iran made agreements with the al-Assad’s government in September 2022 to restore only $18 billion of the "debts" in the form of "investment and the transfer of phosphates, oil and other resources from Syria" within the next 50 years.
...a bold assumption that both parties will still be around to enjoy it, half a century from now.
Iranian authorities did not comment on the leaked documents, but the Iranian media has covered most of the projects and agreements mentioned in the documents over the years.

Iran and Syria have been strategic allies since the Iranian Islamic Revolution in 1979.
Must’ve been the only choice for each after that thing with Egypt fell through, one being revolutionary Shiites, the other Arab National Socialists more naturally allied with the Soviet Union.
In 2011, when the Syrian civil war broke out, Iran intervened and provided significant logistical, technical and financial support, in addition to training and troops for the Syrian government. Iran sees the survival of the Syrian government crucial to its interest in the region.
To be a proper regional hegemon one needs vassal states — though in theory it’s the vassal that are supposed to pay for the privilege rather than the other way round.
In government-held areas, Iran promotes Shiite doctrine to increase and facilitate its penetration through militarization of the population, influencing the locals and businessmen, and building cultural center and shrines.
It’s been more than a decade — how’s that working out?

Qassem says Kahale incident attempt to 'fabricate nonexistent issue'
[An Nahar] Hezbollah deputy chief Sheikh Naim Qassem
... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies...
has visited the family of slain Hezbollah member Ahmed Qassas, who was killed in the Kahale clash on Wednesday.

"The footage revealed that Qassas was the symbol of honor, loyalty and dignity in his resistant position and he sacrificed his blood for the interest of Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
," Qassem told the family.

Calling on security and judicial agencies to "follow up and investigate accurately in order to penalize the sedition stirrers who tried to take the country into the abyss," Hezbollah’s number two warned that "what happened in Kahale was an attempt to stir sedition and fabricate a nonexistent issue."

Qassem also lauded "the political forces and people who stood by Hezbollah and were working together to pacify the situations and put out sedition."

Qassas and a resident of Kahale, both of whom were armed, were killed in an exchange of gunfire Wednesday after a Hezbollah ammunition truck flipped over on the international highway that passes through the town.

The incident started after some residents learned that the truck belonged to Hezbollah. They surrounded it and demanded to know what was inside before a fistfight ensued between two individuals. Footage available online also shows Kahale residents hurling rocks at the overturned truck and its guards and the Hezbollah members brandishing weapons and shooting in the area. Another videos shows a short-distance exchange of gunfire between Hezbollah members and Fadi Bejjani, the Kahale man who was killed in the violence. The identity of the individual who fired the first shot is still unclear.

Shippers warned to stay away from Iranian waters over seizure threat as US-Iran tensions high
[NYPOST] Western-backed maritime forces in the Middle East on Saturday warned shippers traveling through the strategic Strait of Hormuz to stay as far away from Iranian territorial waters as possible to avoid being seized, a stark advisory amid heightened tensions between Iran

and the U.S.

A similar warning went out to shippers earlier this year ahead of Iran seizing two tankers traveling near the strait, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf through which 20% of the world’s oil passes.

While Iran and the US now near an apparent deal that would see billions of Iranian assets held in South Korea unfrozen in exchange for the release of five Iranian-Americans detained in Tehran, the warning shows that the tensions remain high at sea. Already, the US is exploring plans to put armed troops on fat merchantmen in the strait to deter Iran amid a buildup of troops, ships and aircraft in the region.

US Navy Cmdr. Timothy Hawkins, a front man for the Mideast-based 5th Fleet, acknowledged the warning had been given, but declined to discuss specifics about it.
