Taliban Publicly Flogs a Boy and a Girl in Central Afghanistan
Forward, shoulder to shoulder, into the past!
[KhaamaPress] A boy and a girl who were allegedly in love with one another were ruled guilty of having premarital affairs by a Taliban

court in the central Afghan province of Bamyan and were sentenced to receive lashes in public.

The Taliban local court in Bamyan province sentenced a young boy and girl to 39 flogging on Thursday, November 17, on the basis of having a premarital relationship, the sources said.

Arezoo and Mohammad Essa reportedly traveled to Bamyan province for fun when they were detained by Taliban forces, according to domestic media.

About a thousand people are alleged to have witnessed the Taliban’s execution of the punishment as it was carried out in public.

The Taliban local officials have yet to respond to the situation and the implementation of the punishment given publicly.

The Taliban have previously lashed people accused of committing adultery in various parts of the country.

This comes as the Taliban supreme leader, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, in a meeting with judges told them to not hesitate in applying Hadd and Qisas punishments.

The Taliban official told them that it is a religious obligation, Wajib, to apply the Hadd and Qisas punishments as well as obeying his orders as the Amir al-Mu’minin (Commander of the Faithful), a title given to the supreme leader of an Islamic community.

According to Islamic law, Hadd offenses are punishable by death, amputation of the hands and feet, whipping, and other harsh punishments, whereas Qisas, also known as "eye for an eye," is the Islamic principle of retributive justice and calls for a punishment analogous to the crime.

Africa Subsaharan
Seven West African states look to strengthen anti-jihadist cooperation
[France24] West African coastal states on Thursday held talks on boosting cooperation against jihadist violence spilling over from the Sahel after more countries announced they would pull their peacekeepers out of Mali.

Gulf of Guinea neighbours Benin, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Togo are confronting increased risks from Islamic State group-allied and Al Qaeda militants waging war over their northern borders in the Sahel.

As part of the so-called Accra Initiative, representatives of coastal states, the European Union and others met in the Ghanaian capital for talks on security and intelligence cooperation.

Ghana's National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah said collaboration was needed as the threat from extremism is "more widespread than previously thought and transcending borders."

"The threat landscape has consistently changed," he said.

In the first quarter of 2022, Africa recorded 346 attacks, almost half of which were in the west of the continent, he said.

Launched in 2017, the Accra Initiative includes Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast as well as Burkina Faso. Mali and Niger have also since joined.

The Accra meeting, extending to next week, will also involve representatives from the EU and British government and the 15-member West African bloc ECOWAS.

A summit with regional heads of state is planned for November 22, where leaders will discuss security proposals, according to the Accra Initiative executive secretary.

PA foreign minister at Berlin Holocaust memorial: ‘Most heinous crime in history’
They never used to feel any need to fake that kind of sincerity on the subject. I wonder if they’re concerned that Donald Trump will be back in the White House in 2025…
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian Authority Foreign Minister Riad al-Maliki pays a rare visit to the Holocaust memorial in Berlin while in Germany for a diplomatic visit.

"We remembered the victims of the most heinous crime in human history," tweets Paleostinian Ambassador to Germany Laith Arafeh.

The visit comes three months after PA President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase....
came under fire for saying that Israel has committed "50 Holocausts" against the Paleostinians during a presser in Berlin alongside German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

He later walked back the comments, saying that the Holocaust is the "most heinous crime in human history."

Canada Relocates another Batch of Afghan Refugees from Pakistan
[KhaamaPress] The Canadian Department of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship stated that another batch of 324 Afghan refugees has been relocated from Pakistain.

Sean Fraser, the Canadian Minister of Immigration announced on Wednesday, November 16, that a chartered flight carrying 324 Afghan refugees from Pakistain had landed in Halifax, in eastern Canada.

According to the Canadian official, his country has hosted 24,000 Afghans, who have been relocated from Pakistain, Tajikistan, and other transit countries.

"Canada has now welcomed over 24,000 Afghan refugees and we won’t stop until we meet our commitment to resettle at least 40,000. This commitment is one of the largest in the world, and Canadians should be proud of this leadership on the world stage," Fraser wrote on Twitter.

The information provided by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Department of Canada reveals that 19 chartered flights from Pakistain alone have taken Afghan refugees to Canada.

According to a statement from the Canadian Immigration Department, 347 Afghan refugees were moved to Canada last week on November 10. The announcement also added that the Afghan refugees will be settled in 39 Canadian cities.

Iraq
The U.S. tells Iraq it won't work with some Iraqi officials, Asa'ib Ahl Al-Haq responds
[Shafaq News] The Biden administration, the same old faces in slightly different places, the same old ideas, the same old graft
...the collection of boodlers, grifters, hangers-on, and self-proclaimed experts affiliated with the Biden Crime Family. Entrusted with an entire nation as the result of a suspicious election, they set about happily implementing stuff they absorbed in college, all of which blew up and splattered the rest of us...
has made it clear to Iraq's new prime minister that it will not work with ministers and bigwigs affiliated with Shiite "militias" the U.S. has designated as terrorist organizations, two sources told Axios.

Still, the U.S. plans to largely work with and give the new Iraqi government and al-Sudani a chance, as Axios recently reported.

The Biden administration has already decided it will not work with the minister of higher education, Naim al-Aboudi, who is a member of Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq (AAH), a Shiite faction funded by Iran
...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence...
and was designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., the two sources said.

The U.S. is also concerned about Rabee Nader, who was appointed to head the Iraqi prime minister's press office. Nader previously worked for media outlets affiliated with AAH and the Kata'ib Hezbollah — a Shiite faction designated by the U.S. as a terror group.

According to Axios, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, has met with al-Sudani five times since he took office less than three weeks ago, according to the two sources.

The sources said Romanowski told al-Sudani the U.S. policy regarding engagement with government ministers and officials connected to militias. Other Biden administration officials conveyed the same message to the Iraqi government.

The White House declined to comment on diplomatic engagements with the Iraqi government.

The Biden administration is satisfied by the constructive engagement with al-Sudani it has seen so far, the sources told Axios, adding that the U.S. will judge the new prime minister's independence from Iranian influence by his actions.

The Biden administration is concerned al-Sudani won't have enough control over the Shiite "militias," the sources said.

The "Sadiqoon" bloc affiliated with the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq movement, led by Qais Khazali, commented on the Axios news about the U.S. administration's decision not to deal with some ministers in the current Iraqi government.

Ali al-Fatlawi, a leader in the Movement, told Shafaq News Agency, "the American administration has not informed the Iraqi government about this issue."

"Iraq deals with all countries according to common interests and respect for Iraq's illusory sovereignty... If the United States would follow a policy trying to dominate the Iraqi decision, this is unacceptable, and we will not accept or welcome such relations with America." He added.

Israeli navy declares ship-mounted version of Iron Dome operational
[IsraelTimes] System known as C-Dome conducts final successful test against ’real threats’ it may face while mounted on advanced corvettes guarding natural gas platforms.

A ship-mounted version of the Iron Dome air defense system has been declared operational following a recent test, the Defense Ministry and the Israeli Navy announced Thursday.

In a joint statement, the ministry and military said the advanced model of the Iron Dome, known as C-Dome, underwent a successful test last month aboard the Sa’ar 6-class corvette INS Oz, simulating threats the system is likely to face at sea.

The navy’s new Sa’ar-6 corvettes are tasked with guarding the natural gas platforms off Israel’s coast as well as its shipping lanes.

"The test simulated real threats and included the system’s successful detection and interception of targets in challenging scenarios," the ministry said.

The tests, which the Iron Dome completed successfully, represented a "significant milestone in enhancing the capabilities of the corvettes" and marked "the final stage of the naval interception system’s operationalization," the ministry said.

"The C-Dome System constitutes a significant addition to the Israeli Navy’s defense capabilities in a wide array of missions, including the guarding of strategic assets, the Exclusive Economic Zone, and maintaining the regional maritime superiority of the State of Israel," it added.

In a video released by the ministry (above), the Iron Dome was seen intercepting a missile launched from another ship during the exercise. In previous tests the system has also been pitted against drones and cruise missiles.

The Iron Dome tests were conducted off the coast of central Israel, with representatives from the navy and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems taking part.

The Israeli Air Force maintains a multi-tiered missile defense system, which is meant to protect the country from aerial threats.

The lowest layer of Israel’s multi-tiered missile defense system is the Iron Dome and still-in-development Iron Beam laser-based system. The middle tier is the David’s Sling system, which is designed to shoot down medium-range projectiles. The longest-range systems are the Arrow, designed to intercept large ballistic missiles, and the American-made Patriot system, which is used to shoot down aircraft.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
even with the full complement of missile defense systems, defense officials warn that they will not offer a hermetic seal in the case of all-out war, and some rockets will inevitably slip past the defenses.

Ceasefire with ex-Muslim rebels holding in southern Philippines, govt says
[BenarNews] A truce halting intense festivities between Philippine troops and members of a former Moslem separatist guerrilla group is holding in the south, the government’s chief peace adviser said Wednesday as he blamed "third party elements" for last week’s deadly fighting.

The two days of festivities on Basilan
...Basilan is a rugged, jungle-covered island in the southern Philippines. It is a known stronghold of the Abu Sayyaf, bandidos, and maybe even orcs. Most people with any sense travel with armed escorts...
island ignited on Nov. 8 when Moro Islamic Liberation Front forces fired at Philippine troops who were sent to arrest "lawless elements" blamed for local bombings, authorities said. The MILF members involved in the fighting apparently were protecting other people from arrest.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Some return to war-battered hub of Palestinian life in Syria
[AnNahar] Syria's largest Paleostinian camp was once bustling with activity: It was crowded with mini-buses and packed with shops hawking falafel, shawarma and knafeh nabulsieh — a sweet concoction of cheese and phyllo dough.

Kids played soccer and brandished plastic guns until men with real guns came in when Syria descended into civil war. Over the past decade, fighting devastated communities across the country, including the Yarmouk camp, on the outskirts of the capital of Damascus.

Today, Yarmouk's streets are still piled with rubble. Scattered Paleostinian flags fly from mostly abandoned houses, the only reminder that this was once a major political and cultural center of the Paleostinian refugee diaspora.

‘No guarantees’ for the future of Syrian Kurds: PM Barzani
[Rudaw] Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani said on Thursday that the fate of Syrian Kurds remains unclear as there are "no guarantees" about their future in the country.

Syrian Kurds have been enjoying a self-administration since the early years of civil war in the country in 2011 following the withdrawal of regime forces in Kurdish areas in order to defend the capital city of Damascus from opposition fighters.

However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (NES) is facing numerous challenges, such as Ottoman Turkish military threats, economic crisis and intra-Kurdish issues.

Barzani said at an event in Duhok on Thursday that the future of Syrian Kurds and their relations with Damascus remains unclear.

"There are no guarantees about their future," he said, adding that despite the presence of the global coalition against the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) forces in northeast Syria (Rojava), "I have not seen any sort of political agreement about their status in the future."

Rojava officials have made several attempts to reach an agreement with Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Scourge of Qusayr...
’s regime but they have not been fruitful.

"I don’t see a very positive move from the government in Damascus to accept and admit to incorporate that part of the country by preserving their rights and giving their rights, and find a way that is workable for both sides," noted Barzani.

He indirectly blamed the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) for intervening in the internal affairs of Rojava.

"The last point, which I think is the worst part, is the intervention and the influencing of the decisions of the administration by some external factors," he said, adding that "It is really up to the people of the region to make up their minds and become the masters of their destiny and become independent."

He reiterated his government’s readiness to mediate between Rojava authorities and the opposition group, Kurdish National Council (ENKS), to reach an agreement. Both sides have held numerous talks to resolve their differences but have not reached a deal.
