Afghanistan
Taliban Arrests Women Human Rights Activists and Journalists in Afghan Capital
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] According to sources, the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
arrested women journalists and activists in Kabul, including Zarifa Yaqoubi, one of the demonstrators who attended a presser announcing the formation of the Afghan Women’s Movement for Equality, on Thursday, November 3.

The gun-wielding Taliban forces including women coppers invaded a women’s presser held in Dasht-e-Barchi, a Hazara

neighborhood in west Kabul, arbitrarily arresting women activists, journalists, and their male colleagues, sources told Khaama Press.

A source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, added that the Taliban initially encircled the premises before intrusively disrupting the presser held by women, forcibly arresting them and taking their mobile phones.

One of the women detained by the Taliban was Zarifa Yaqoubi, a member of the Movement of Change for Afghanistan’s executive council, the country’s first political party to be headed by a woman, Fawzia Koofi, the former member of the Lower House of the bicameral Afghan parliament.

advocates in Afghanistan has outraged Afghan civil society and the media, which has demanded both their immediate release and an end to the group’s persecution of them.

Fawzia Koofi, the founder of the Movement of Change for Afghanistan political party, and one of the members of the Afghan Peace Negotiation Delegation, in response to the Taliban’s latest arrest, stated that the "Taliban must be held accountable for the arbitrary arrest of women human rights activist in Afghanistan."

"This must end; women have the right to exercise their civic and social participation. More pressure will result in more resistance. Don’t push people to make hard choices," Koofi added.

The South Asia Campaigner for Amnesia Amnesty International, Samira Hamidi, also reacted to the Taliban’s arrests by tweeting, "Another act of HR violation & abuse. Lack of accountability has enabled Taliban to continue with these violations confidently."

Imran Khan suspects PM Shehbaz, Sanaullah, senior army officer behind attack: Asad Umar
[GEO.TV] PTI Secretary-General Asad Umar claimed Thursday that party chairman Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight...
suspects three people — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, and a senior military officer — are behind the liquidation attempt on him.

The former prime minister was injured in an liquidation attack on him earlier today when a man shot up him.

"Imran Khan has said that he had the information beforehand that these people might be involved in the liquidation attempt on him," Umar said during a video statement alongside party leader Mian Aslam Iqbal.

Umar, quoting the PTI chairman, demanded that all three people — the premier, the interior minister, and the senior military officer —
"be removed from their offices."

The PTI leader added that Khan has warned that if these officials are not removed from their officers, then the party would hold countrywide protests as Pakistain cannot run in this manner anymore.

"If the demands are not met, then all the party's workers are awaiting Khan's call, and when he does give that call, then protests will take place across the country."

Umar said that he spoke to the doctors — including Dr Faisal Sultan — about Khan's situation and they have informed him that his condition is stable and out of danger.

"The doctors said that bullets hit him and at this time, it is unclear as to how many they were. Three or two pellets are still lodged in his leg. The bullet also chipped his bone. The CT scan is also clear."

"Khan is ready to sacrifice his life for the nation. There should be no doubt about it now. He is fine, but he says that we should always believe in Allah," Umar said.

PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry, speaking to Rooters, said: "It was a clear liquidation attempt. Khan was hit but he’s stable. There was a lot of bleeding."

"If the shooter had not been stopped by people there, the entire PTI leadership would have been wiped out."

PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi
...a Pak political shape-changer. He is undistinguished except for his habit of periodically needing to have his lips reattached...
condemned the attack on Khan and said the former prime minister would now have to move towards his destination with "more force".

Iraq
Theft of the Century: authorities seize 375 billion dinars in equities and credit as investigations unfold
[SHAFAQ] Iraq's Judicial authorities have seized more than 375 billion dinars in equities and credit as an investigation into the "theft of the century" continues to unfold.

The latest scandal, revealed in October by a minister in the former government, has caused a political storm in corruption-plagued Iraq and is being dubbed domestically as "the theft of the century".

In the embezzlement, an amount of 3.7 trillion Iraqi dinars (almost $2.5 billion) was fraudulently paid to five companies by the General Commission of Taxes. The money was paid through 247 cheques between September 9, 2021, and August 11, 2022, from the commission's account at the state-run Rafidain Bank.

According to the findings of an internal investigation conducted by the ministry, the companies —at least three of them established last year— submitted fake documents for their claims.

Those funds were deposited by trading companies and individuals as a guarantee to pay taxes after finishing projects commissioned by the government or importing goods. The companies and individuals can later apply to withdraw what is left from their deposits after deducting the taxes.

A statement issued today by the Supreme Judicial Council said that the court had formed a committee to account for the embezzled funds in preparation for retrieving them.

"Nearly 55 real estate properties in Baghdad were placed in preventive custody. Investigations are underway to uncover properties in other governorates," the statement said.

The authorities seized 267.65 billion dinars in equities and 108 billion dinars in credit as well. The seized assets, according to the statement, belong to the defendant and other family members.

Corruption has been rife in Iraq since the 2003 US-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein. Many politicians have been arrested or removed from office for the practice.

Iraq is considered one of the most corrupt countries in the world. It ranked 157th out of 180 nations on Transparency International’s 2021 corruption index.

Germany asks citizens to leave Iran amid fears of arbitrary arrest
[Rudaw] Germany on Thursday asked its citizens to leave Iran
...They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
over growing fears of them being subjected to arbitrary arrests as nationwide protests continue for the seventh week.

Germany’s foreign ministry updated its travel advice, urging its citizens not to travel to Iran for those already there, particularly dual nationals, to leave the country as they face a "concrete risk of being arbitrarily arrested, interrogated and sentenced to long prison terms."

Last month, New Zealand also issued similar travel warnings to its citizens. The US, UK, and the EU have slammed sanctions on Iran over its violent mostly peaceful crackdown on protesters.

Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
imposed sanctions on Iran on Wednesday over Russia’s alleged use of Iranian-made drones in its war in Ukraine.

Ukraine has accused Russia of using Iranian drones in its recent devastating attacks on major Ukrainian cities. The Kremlin has said it has no information on Iranian-made drones being used in the war. Tehran has also repeatedly denied sending armed drones to Moscow, labeling the claims as "biased".

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, spoke with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir Abdollahian over phone on Friday during which Kubela "demanded Iran to immediately cease the flow of weapons to Russia used to kill civilians and destroy critical infrastructure in Ukraine."

The death of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini while in the custody of Tehran’s morality police on September 16 ignited an unprecedented nationwide protest movement that has brought Iranians from all corners together to call for the overthrow of the Islamic regime. The use of violence by Iranian security forces to disperse the demonstrators has been widely condemned by the international community.

At least 277 including 40 Children Killed according to the latest tally by the Oslo-based Iran Human Rights Organization (IHR) on Wednesday.
