Trump's furious Situation Room row with his top general is LEAKED: Chairman of joint chiefs reprimanded him on Syria - so the president demanded immediate pull-out
[Mail] President Donald Trump is facing an astonishing leak of a confrontation in the Situation Room with his most senior military commander and another leak of talks with the CIA.

He and Marine General Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, clashed over what to do about Syria in the White House's most secret and guarded area.

Five officials brief the Associated Press on that happened as Gen Dunford told him his approach was 'unproductive' and demanded that he issue 'specific instructions' on how to proceed.

And the Washington Post detailed how Trump demanded of its head of drone operations - an official whose name is a secret - why operators had waited until a terrorist had left his family's home before killing him.

The two leaks will serve to increase tensions in Washington over Syria.

Anything to make Trump look incompetent.

Of course, I kinda wonder why they wait to launch the drone zap myself...that would send a message with an exclamation point.

Algeria ruling party asks ailing president to run for fifth term
[Al Jazeera] Members of Algeria's ruling party have called on President Abdelaziz Bouteflika
... 10th president-for-life of Algeria. He was elected in 1999 and is currently on his third or fourth term. Maybe it's the fifth....
to run for a fifth consecutive term, according to local media reports.

Speaking at a party meeting on Saturday, the National Liberation Front's (or FLN by its French acronym) secretary-general, Djamel Ould Abbes, confirmed earlier reports about party and government officials pushing for the ailing president's re-election in next year's vote.

"The executives and elected representatives of the FLN call on the president to continue his mission, started in 1999 as head of the country ... and hope that he will respond favorably to our request, but it is up to him and him alone to decide whether to accept or decline our invitation," Ould Abbes was quoted as saying by the French language newspaper l'Expression.

Undercover Hezbollah operations in South America were uncovered in an extensive investigation by the United States and Columbia. According to Columbian media sources, Hezbollah has a presence in the country under cover of a legitimate organization called the "External Security Organization" (ESO), which is essentially Unit 910, Hezbollah’s foreign operations arm responsible for the 2012 terrorist attack in Burgas, Bulgaria and the attacks in Argentina

Europe
Hungary's strongman Viktor Orban wins third term in power
In Al-Rooter's World™, "Strongman" = Anti-Soros's Push. God Bless, PM Orban
After all the money Mr. Soros fed into the Hungarian economy, isn’t it lovely he got no return on his investment?
Prime Minister Viktor Orban won a third straight term in power in Sunday elections after his anti-immigration campaign message secured a strong majority for his party in parliament, granting him two-thirds of seats based on preliminary results.

The rightwing nationalist prime minister projected himself as a savior of Hungary’s Christian culture against Muslim migration into Europe, an image which resonated with millions of voters, especially in rural areas.

“We have won, Hungary has won a great victory,” a jubilant Orban told a large crowd of cheering supporters near the Danube river in Budapest.

“There is a big battle behind us, we have won a crucial victory, giving ourself a chance to defend Hungary.”

According to preliminary results with 93 percent of votes counted, National Election Office data projected Fidesz to win 133 seats, a tight two-thirds majority in the 199-seat parliament. Nationalist Jobbik was projected to win 26 seats, while the Socialists were projected as third with 20 lawmakers.

Two smaller leftist parties, DK and LMP, won nine and eight seats respectively.

That means Orban could have a two-thirds majority for a third time, and powers to change constitutional laws. The EU has struggled to respond as Orban’s government has, in the view of its critics, used its two landslide victories in 2010 and 2014 to erode democratic checks and balances.

The victory could embolden Orban to put more muscle into a Central European alliance against the European Union’s migration policies. Orban, Hungary’s longest-serving post-communist premier, opposes deeper integration of the bloc and - teaming up with Poland - has been a fierce critique of Brussels’ policies.

He expressed gratitude to Poland’s leaders for their backing ahead of the vote.

Opposition Leaders Resign
The election produced a turnout of around 70 percent, exceeding the past three votes.

Jobbik’s leader Gabor Vona said he would tender his resignation after the defeat.

“Jobbik’s goal, to win the elections and force a change in government, was not achieved. Fidesz won. It won again,” he said.

The Socialists’ entire leadership also resigned.

Iraq
Why did Iran’s Basij Force commander hold a high-level meeting in Iraq?
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The commander of Iran’s paramilitary Basij Force Gholamhossein Gheybparvar held a meeting with Iraqi political figures in Baghdad this week under shrouded circumstances.

The meeting was attended by the Iranian ambassador to Iraq, as well as members of the Fatah Alliance - a political coalition in Iraq formed to contest the 2018 general election. The main components of the alliance are former groups involved in the Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Units.

According to a source speaking to Al Arabiya on condition of anonymity, they discussed Ahmad al-Asadi, one of the candidates in Iraq’s upcoming election with strong paramilitary ties.

An elected member of parliament from Baghdad and former front man for the PMU, Asadi cut his ties with the force before launching his re-election bid ‐ a requirement by the governing body overseeing the May vote.

The source told Al Arabiya that the meeting discussed ways to pressure Iraq’s Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Asadi’s return to the PMU.

The source added that the meeting resulted in an agreement to appoint Asadi as media advisor to the PMU in the event that Abadi accepts his return, despite electoral laws that disallow military candidates to run.

Political analyst Ahmad al-Khafaji told Al Arabiya that "the presence of Gheybparvar and the Iranian ambassador in such meetings confirm that Iran has plans to interfere further in Iraqi politics."

Khafaji said that Iranian pressure on Abadi has gone beyond the Asadi issue, and has "reached to the extent of interference in Iraqi domestic and foreign policies, but Abadi and his team have refused intervention on several occasions and deal with Iran as required by Iraq's interests."

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Gaza war crimes may be prosecuted: ICC prosecutor
Yes, yes — everyone except President Trump’s crew is appalled at how evil the Jooos are to actually resist those poor, suffering, would-be invaders by force.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The world war crimes court’s chief prosecutor Sunday called for an end to ongoing bloodshed in the Gazoo Strip, warning that the court could try those who commit gross atrocities.
Right on cue...
"The resort to violence must stop," Fatou Bensouda said in a statement issued by the International Criminal Court, based in The Hague.

"Any person who incites or engages in acts of violence including by ordering, requesting, encouraging or contributing in any other manner to the commission of crimes within ICC’s jurisdiction is liable to prosecution before the Court," Bensouda said.

Israel is facing mounting questions over the use of live fire that left some 30 Paleostinians dead in 10 days of protests and festivities along the Gazoo Strip border.

Violence spiked again on Friday, when festivities erupted as thousands protested along the border, and nine Paleostinians, including a journalist, were killed.

Paleostinian authorities signed up to the ICC’s founding Rome Statute document in early January 2015 in which they accepted the court’s jurisdiction.

Preliminary probe
Shortly afterwards, Bensouda announced she was opening a preliminary probe to determine whether there was enough evidence to launch a full-blown investigation into any alleged crimes committed in the Paleostinian territories since June 2014.

Reacting to the latest escalation, Bensouda said "violence against civilians... could constitute crimes under the Rome Statute, as could the use of civilian presence for the purpose of shielding military activities."

Any new alleged crimes "committed in the context of the situation in Paleostine may be subjected to my office’s scrutiny," Bensouda said.

The ICC is the world’s only independent permanent tribunal, set up in 2002 to probe the worst crimes including genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Sociologist Olivier Galland: Islam, Not Social Factors, Driving Radicalisation in France
[Breitbart Londonistan] Sociologist Olivier Galland has slammed many of his fellow academics for having a myopic view of radicalisation in France, saying that the effect of Islam is more important than social factors like poverty.

After the Bataclan attacks in 2015, Galland launched a survey of high school pupils on the subject of radicalism and found that Muslim students, in particular, were the most tolerant of violence committed in the name of religion Libération reports.

The results of the study, which were published earlier this week, showed that Muslim pupils were often much more illiberal than their non-Muslim counterparts and Galland has claimed that it is the effect of the religion of Islam, rather than simply social factors that drive radicalisation among them.

"We find a divergence and the existence of a cultural divide between young Muslims and their comrades. For them, religion dominates the secular world: this is what we have called ’religious absolutism’," Galland said.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Former Obama National Security Council Spokesman Admits 'Trump Was Handed a Mess' in Syria
[Townhall] As word spread of Syria's alleged used of chemical weapons on its own civilians, conservatives and political commentators were quick to point out that former President Obama had several opportunities to intervene and potentially save countless lives from poisonous gas attacks in the Middle East country. Tommy Vietor, National Security Council spokesperson during the Obama administration, tried to beat back claims that President Obama was unsuccessful in deterring Bashar al-Assad's regime from killing his own people. But in doing so, Vietor ended up admitting that his old boss did not exactly leave Syria better off than when he found it.

It all started when commentators found an tweet of Vietor's published on October 31, 2013. It praised the progress towards eliminating Syria's chemical weapons as "remarkable." The tweet linked to a New York Times article titled, "Syria Destroys Chemical Sites, Inspectors Say." The article wrote, "Syria's ability to produce chemical weapons has been destroyed and its remaining toxic armaments secured"...." President Bashar al-Assad has offered unexpectedly robust cooperation, at least so far, with a Russian United States accord to dismantle arsenal."

Trump blames Russia, Iran for backing ‘Animal Assad’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
condemned the chemical attack carried out in Syria’s Douma that killed dozens including women and kiddies, and held the Assad regime responsible.

In a series of tweets on his official account on Sunday, Trump blamed Putin and Iran for backing "Animal Assad" as he put it. He added that they will have a "big price to pay" and called for the area to be immediately open for humanitarian aid.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
they ended up reaching a peaceful resolution which was criticized by both political parties as lacking resolve and decision-making. Trump had called it a national "humiliation".

Many countries and leading figures, including The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
and Pope Francis, have also condemned the attack.

"There is not a good war and a bad one, and nothing, nothing can justify the use of such devices of extermination against defenseless people and populations," Pope Francis said.

Syrian state media denied government forces had launched any chemical attack as soon as the reports began circulating and said rebels in the eastern Ghouta town of Douma were in a state of collapse and spreading false news.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
horrific pictures and videos are being circulated across social media platforms showing several children suffering from the attack.
Posted by: Fred || 04/09/2018 00:00 || Comments || Link || [8 views] Top|| File under: Govt of Syria

#1  The images on the news showing children being frantically assisted reminded me much of the Hezbollah 'Green Helmet Guy' and the orchestrated civilian care antics before the video cameras.

Saddam's guys did something similar by transporting dead bodies to the scene of the video shoots, too.

Still not sure that the chem attack was by Assad or his enablers. Seems a bit false flag, especially in an area where the regime was winning.
