Taliban Fighters Paid 4,000 AFS Per Day: Helmand Police Chief
[Tolo News] Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
Police Chief Juma Gul Hemat has claimed that each Taliban fighter is paid 4,000 AFS per day, amounting to much higher salaries paid to the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF).

"The Pak government pays an amount of 4,000 AFS per day to the Taliban Death Eaters who fight against the ANSF," Hemat told TOLOnews.

Hemat added that the Taliban fighters have the support of other regional countries, particularly the Arab states, in addition to Pakistain.

"Regional countries clearly support the Taliban fighters," he said. "Since the past three months, the security forces have been confronting the Taliban in Musa Qala, Sangeen, Nawah, Nad-e-Ali and Marjah districts. We have dispatched reinforcements to these areas to support the security forces."

The news is alarming as it could demoralize the ANSF, while the Taliban offensives are on the rise, in addition to the fact that the ANSF lack the necessary equipments as the enemy is equipped with the latest weaponry.

...but not much of a retirement plan. Although, one could bet well that any pension fund of the ANSF is being embezzled as we sit here and read this.

Libyan cadets quit British army training course after incident
[Libya Herald] Some 30 Libyan army cadets training in the UK have left their course and returned to Libya after they allegedly freed three colleagues who were tossed into the calaboose for leaving their camp without permission.

The incident occurred last month according to the Daily Mail, which said that a British army corporal had been roughed up before agreeing to release the three Libyan cadets held in the guard house.
The corporal of the guard released the cadets? And didn't call his superiors? That corporal perhaps will end up locked up himself...
The Bassingbourn Barracks in Cambridgeshire in the east of England where the confrontation is supposed to have taken place, received its initial intake of Libyan troops in June. The 300 arrivals are the first of 2,000 cadets that the British are giving six months of basic infantry training. The project is the result of an agreement reached last summer at the G8 meeting in the UK between the-then premier Ali Zeidan and his British opposite number David Cameron
... has stated that he is certainly a big Thatcher fan, but I don't know whether that makes me a Thatcherite, which means he's not. Since he is not deeply ideological he lacks core principles and is easily led. He has been described as certainly not a Pitt, Elder or Younger, but he does wear a nice suit so maybe he's Beau Brummel ...
. The cadet are being trained by the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Though the Libyans have been taken on escorted visits to neighbouring towns, the British Ministry of Defence is not allowing them to leave the barracks independently. Three Libyans who flouted this restriction were found in Brassingborn village by British army training staff.

They were being held in the guardhouse pending further action when around 20 of their comrades arrived, demanding their release. According to the Daily Mail, a corporal on duty was involved in a heated and at time violent confrontation before agreeing to release the prisoners to their friends. The British Ministry of Defence said that soldier had face "considerable intimidation".

It seems likely that reaction to the arrest of the three cadets was linked to other sources of discontent. One of these is delayed salaries that should be disbursed through the Libyan embassy in London. Some UK colleges and universities are also complaining that fees are not being paid. The Libya Herald understands that one unpaid flight school is on the verge of terminating the teaching and accommodation of its Libyan students and sending them home.

The unrest at the Brassington barracks also came at a time when many of the cadets will have been anxious for their families and friends in Libya as fighting broke out in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
toward the end of Ramadan. It is unclear if the British sent the cadets home or whether they themselves chose to leave the course.

#2  Commercial Flight Schools have to pay their overhead (fuel, aircraft maintenance, loans, wages, ect) to stay open. Learning to fly isn't cheap and if the students don't pay the Flight School goes bust rather quickly.

Sudan says its aim in Libya is peace
[Libya Herald] Sudan has strongly denied
No, no! Certainly not!
that it sent weapons to Libya last week to be used by the Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). It is made up of the Libya Shield militia (Misrata and Moslem Brotherhood), Libya Revolutionaries Operations Room (Moslem Brotherhood), and Tripoli Brigade (close to Abdul Hakim Belhaj, head of Al-Watan party). Financing and moral support come from Turkey and Qatar...
forces in the capital. It says that it is neutral in the current struggle in Libya and that it abides by the decisions of conference of Libya's neighbouring countries that took place in Cairo at the end of last month.

According to a Sudanese Foreign Ministry front man, Khartoum has no intentions of interfering in Libya's internal affairs but it is troubled by the present instability in the country. It is not in the interests of anyone in the region, the front man said, adding that the Sudanese want stability and security in Libya and, to this end, would be willing to help mediate between the various factions.

It is not known if its apparent desire to mediate was behind the decision to invite Nuri Abu Sahmain, president of the former General National Congress, to Khartoum last week for talks with Sudanese President Omar Bashir and the government.

As to the plane that landed in Kufra, Khartoum says that it was delivering food, supplies and ammunition to the Libyan-Sudanese joint border force based at the town, and had made a number of similar flights previously.

After doing so this time, it returned to Sudan, the Sudanese authorities say. There was no emergency landing, as reported by the press. It landed with the prior agreement of the commander of joint forces.

The Libyan government has taken a different view of the incident and has ordered the Sudanese military attaché to quit the country.

However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
according to the Sudanese new agency SUNA, Khartoum says it has received no official notification of such a demand either from the Libyan Foreign Ministry or th Libya embassy in Khartoum.

Notification was, if fact, published on the Libyan Prime Minister's website.

Thinni delays presentation of new cabinet: report
[Libya Herald] Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thinni
He's the Tripoli/Islamist PM...
has delayed presenting his new slimmed-down government to the House of Representatives, its front man Faraj Hashim has told the Libya Herald. An announcement of the cabinet which is to have between eight and ten ministers was expected in the next 24 hours. According to Hashim, the delay is so that Thinni can "study more candidates".

Thinni was asked to form a new full time government by the HoR a week ago and it has been widely reported that he had already chosen his team.

It is being claimed, however, that he has since come under strong pressure both fromCyrenaica federalists and the National Forces Alliance led by Mahmoud Jibril as to the composition of the cabinet.

Young Libyans head to join ISIS in Syria and Iraq
[Libya Herald] "I am heading to join my brothers of the Islamic Caliphate in Iraq."
Is Iraq once again about to become the graveyard of jihadis?
These few words were the crux of a short phone conversation Muad had with his father before he hung up. The father, completely shocked at the announcement, tried to call back the number which his son used but found it switched off. The call came from Turkey.

Muad, 16 years old, normally lives with his family in Khoms, 125 kilomtres east of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
His father claims that there is a local network there which helped get the boy to Syria and Iraq.

"On Thursday evening he said that he was going to a wedding of one of his friends", the father told the Libya Herald. "The next day he called me in the evening from Turkey telling that he was going to join ISIS."

Trying to work out how Muad could have got himself involved in such a deadly enterprise, and so quickly to Turkey, the father immediately suspected someone with whom Muad had recently spent a great deal of time, an individual who was deeply religious.

The father says that when contacted, the man happily admitted to having put Muad in touch with a group involved in arranging for Libyans to go to Syria and Iraq. Indeed, he said the man's brother, whom he called "Emir" Hamza, was currently moving back and forward between Syria or Iraq, his mission being to get young Libyans to go and join the ISIS.

This morning, at Muad's request, the brother organised a Skype call between son and father. The conversation was short. Muad was absolutely determined said the father who is both desperate and depressed. He was told that he should forget his son. He had chosen his fate. He wanted to be a Jihadi and could not wait to join his brothers in paradise.

"This is not the first case of someone going to someone going to Syria," a Khoms resident told this newspaper. "There was another couple of young guys who recently went there."

Getting from Khoms to what is being called the Islamic State in 72 hours is not that difficult it turns out. There is no police, no security, to stop would-be members of ISIS and there is a network to organise their travel -- protected (it is suggested) by some militias.

Militias may have committed war crimes: Human Rights Watch
[Libya Herald] Armed groups battling in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
since the end of Ramadan may have engaged in war crimes, attacking civilians and civilian property, Human Rights Watch
... During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011, HRW received a pledge from the Foundation to Promote Open Society, of which George Soros is Chairman, for general support totaling $100,000,000. The grant is being paid in installments of $10,000,000 over ten years.Through June 30, 2013, HRW had received $30,000,000 towards the fulfillment of the pledge....
has said.

The New York based NGO said in a report released today that during the five weeks of fighting in the capital between the Misratan-led Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). It is made up of the Libya Shield militia (Misrata and Moslem Brotherhood), Libya Revolutionaries Operations Room (Moslem Brotherhood), and Tripoli Brigade (close to Abdul Hakim Belhaj, head of Al-Watan party). Financing and moral support come from Turkey and Qatar...
forces and Zintan, both sides appeared "to have committed violations that could amount to war crimes".

It said 12,600 families, according to Tripoli Local Council, had fled during the festivities centred around Tripoli International Airport, as their homes came under attack. Libya Dawn forces had committed further violations after they gained the upper hand in the capital.

"Commanders on both sides need to rein in their forces and end the cycle of abuses or risk being first in line for possible sanctions and international prosecution," Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East and North Africa Director at Human Rights Watch said. "All warring parties, as well as the Libyan government, should respect their obligation to protect civilians at all times and to hold their forces accountable when they commit crimes," she added.

Human Rights Watch reported that Libya Dawn, in particular, had carried out violations against journalists, government officials and civilians suspected of "supporting or sympathising with the Zintan-led alliance, which is aligned with the Libya Dignity operation".

It detailed attacks by Libya Dawn on Al-Asima television station, in which the home of the station's director was set on fire along with the property of other individuals associated with the station, adding that three Al-Asima employees had been kidnapped in the attacks and were still missing.

The also report cited attacks by Libya Dawn on the Tripoli home of Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thinni, an attack on the home of the Acting Transportation Minister Abdel Qader Al-Zintani and the looting and destruction of at least 80 homes belonging to Zintanis living in Tripoli, as was reported by Zintan Municipal Council one week ago.

Both sides appeared to be holding people seized in the fighting, the NGO said. It mentioned the further kidnappings of Abdelmoez Banoon, a Tripoli-based activist who was kidnapped from his home by forces loyal to Libya Dawn as well as Suliman Zubi, a member of the former legislature, who has been held by members of the Zintani-aligned Barq Al-Nasr militia since 21 July.

Attacks by Libya Central Sheild on Tawerghan refugee camps in Tripoli which led to the death of one man and the injuries of several other displaced people could also amount to war crimes Human Rights Watch said. "The militia groups, as well as the Libyan government, should take urgent steps to stop abuses against Tawerghans, some 40,000 of whom have been forcibly displaced," it explained.

"All parties to the conflict in Libya are required to abide by the laws of war." Human Rights Watch said. "Certain serious violations of the laws of war, when committed with criminal intent, are war crimes. Those who commit, order, assist, or have command responsibility for war crimes are subject to prosecution by domestic courts or the International Criminal Court
... where Milosevich died of old age before being convicted ...
."

The UN has called on all gangs to "remove from active duty and hand over to the justice system those among their members suspected of having committed abuses".

At the end of last month the UN Security Council extended UN sanctions to include anyone endangering Libya's stability and democracy, squarely backing the House of Representatives and the Thinni government. Although no list of those to be charged or sanctioned has yet emerged, it is believed that as many as 250 individuals may be hit by the measures.

Al-Azhar: ISIL serving Zionist plot to destroy Arab world
[ABNA.IR] "These criminals have been able to transmit to the world a tarnished and alarming image of Moslems," Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayyeb said.
"...tarnished and alarming" is so much gentler than "steeped in blood, following the example of the Prophet Mohammed himself."
"These fundamentalist terrorist groups, whatever their names, and their backers are colonial creations that serve Zionism in its plot to destroy the Arab world."
Colonial, Zionism and plot, all in the same sentence?! Thus it is irrevocably proved, my dears. No further evidence is needed.
Al-Azhar is Egypt's top religious authority and runs a university long seen as one the most prestigious centers of Moslem learning.
There is that.

#1  Yeah Sheikh, it couldn't possibly be muslims committing these acts of terror. Of course it must be "teh jews" who are doing all this.
Never mind they are forcing people to convert to islam or be killed.
It's got to be the zionists trying to tarnish islam's peaceful image.

Arabia
Grand mufti urges Muslims to confront IS
[ARABNEWS] Grand Mufti Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh has urged Moslems to confront the "oppressive" Islamic State jihadists if they fight Moslems after seizing swaths of Iraq and Syria.

"This group is aggressive and oppressive. It sheds blood," Aleqtesadiah daily quoted Al-Asheikh as saying.

"If they fight Moslems, then Moslems must fight them to rid people and religion of their evil and harm," he said in a response to a request from an Iraqi for a fatwa or edict on fighting IS.

"They have been killing ever since they began their fight. Their killing is filled with mutilations and hideousness that distort (the image of) Moslems," Al-Asheikh said.

His remarks come as the United States seeks to build a broad-based international coalition to fight the Islamic State, which has carved out a stronghold in large areas of Syria and Iraq.

The United States last month launched Arclight airstrikes against the hard boy group in Iraq, in support of government forces and allied rustics, as well as Kurdish Peshmerga fighters in the north.

Last month, the Kingdom's highest religious authority branded Al-Qaeda and IS jihadists Islam's "No. 1 enemy", and warned Moslem youth to steer clear of "calls for jihad" issued on "perverted" grounds.

IS jihadists, already well established in Syria, launched an offensive in Iraq on June 9 and rapidly seized control of vast swaths of territory there.

Yemen's top cop sacked as rebel sit-in continues
[ARABNEWS] Yemen on Monday sacked the commander of its police special forces, a day after festivities broke out as they tried in vain to disperse a Shiite rebel sit-in blocking the road to Sanaa airport.

Gen. Fadl Al-Qawsi was replaced by Gen. Mohammed Al-Ghadra, an official close to the interior ministry told AFP, as thousands of Shiite Huthis stepped up the protest action.

But the reason for Qawsi's dismissal was not made clear.

The Houthis, also known as Ansarullah, said one demonstrator was rubbed out and a number of protesters received gunshot wounds when police hurled tear gas canisters and deployed water cannon against demonstrators Sunday.

AFP was unable to confirm the casualties from independent sources.

The special forces unit, known previously as the central security force, was loyal to former President President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
who stepped down on February 2012 following a year of protests against his autocratic rule.

The Houthis have been pushing for the government's resignation, accusing it of corruption. They have also been demanding more powers within state institutions.

Huthi protesters blocking the airport road were Monday only 100 meters away from the interior ministry, as their numbers grew despite the attempted crackdown, an AFP correspondent reported.

Protesters have pitched new tents blocking access to the electricity and telecommunications ministries on the airport road, where they have been demonstrating for weeks. Both ministries were closed on Monday.

"Outlaws have blocked access to the ministries of electricity and telecommunications and forced employees to leave," a Supreme Security Committee front man said on state news agency Saba.

Houthis surrounding Sanaa were also on Monday preventing government vehicles from entering or leaving the capital, witnesses told AFP.

Ansarullah have so far rejected overtures from President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi who has offered to name a new prime minister and reduced a disputed fuel price hike.

Both concessions were core demands of the Huthis who launched their protest movement on Aug. 18, after battling troops and tribes for months over the control of key cities north of Sanaa.

Analysts say the rebels are trying to establish themselves as the dominant political force in the northern highlands, where Shiites are the majority community.

Britain
London Murder Highlights Rise of Islamophobia
[ABNA.IR] The brutal murder of a woman in the UK capital has highlighted the increasing level of Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
that has crept into British society after a backlash against Moslems followed the incident, even though the murderer was not a Moslem.

82-year-old Palmira Silva was beheaded in her garden in Edmonton, north London on Thursday by 25-year-old Nicholas Salvador. The murder triggered a local manhunt with police ordering residents out of their homes while the assailant jumped over fences behind people's houses.

The nature of the murder led many to believe it was a copycat attack after the beheading of two American journalists in Iraq last week, with many quick to blame the attack on Moslems even before any details were made available.

Fiyaz Mughal, director of Tell Mama, told The Guardian newspaper that the think tank recorded a sudden spike in the number of threats made against Moslems and mosques on social media as well as in the streets of Britannia.

"The assumption is that 'beheading equals Moslem.' The association, for some, is an automatic response," Mughal said.
When was the last time an Irishman lopped off somebody's head? A Mormon? A Rosicrucian?
In this case, however, the culprit was not a Moslem.
The report we saw said he was a Moslem convert.
Rather, he was a machete-wielding crazed maniac going on a rampage that seemingly targeted victims indiscriminately, including Moslem residents in the area and even a cat.

Police said the attack had nothing to do with terrorism and have charged the murderer who is recovering in hospital after being subdued by police.

Following the murder of British soldier Lee Rigby by two converts to Islam last year in London, British Moslems have been on the receiving end of increasing Islamophobic attacks. These attacks peaked again recently when it was discovered that a group of Moslem men had been committing sexual abuses in the city of Rotherham.

British Moslems this year have also been the target of a scandal covered extensively by the media alleging that they were trying to 'take over' control of a public school in Birmingham, an accusation local Moslems deny.

The British government is currently in the process of adopting measures to confiscate the passports of 500 odd British Moslems who are suspected of having travelled to Syria to participate in the war there.

Home Front: WoT
Imam of Washington: US is basically a police state
[ABNA.IR] The Imam of Masjid al-Islam in Washington says the United States is basically a police state where Blacks and Latinos are being killed ruthlessly.

Imam Abdul Alim Musa, who's a strong critic of US policies and its support for Israel, had been violently attacked by a group of gunnies in Oakland, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, on August 22.

In an interview with Press TV on Saturday, he talked about the August attack and the torture he underwent in police custody last week.

"The August 22nd was the incident in one of the Masjids in Oakland on 82nd Avenue. [It] was an attempt by Arab-Zionists to take over the last indigenous movement-orientated Masjid in the United States, and that attack was led by what we call Afro-Zionists," Imam Musa said.

"You know about all the police brutality in America, that's exactly they did two/three days ago. I understand fully, why. And I told them that why so many people are dying in jug because they have improved their techniques of torture without any visible signs. You see the number of Black people and Latinos being killed and shot. It is basically a police state here in America. We have to change the whole system. It's not fixing the one little piece," he added.

Earlier in August, Imam Musa told Press TV about threats to his life for being an African-American Moslem community leader.

He said that there is a picture of Imam Jamil al-Amin, Imam Luqman, and "a picture of me" on the Internet.

The message of this picture, Imam Musa said, is "look at your two friends, if you don't shut up and be quiet, nigger, you are next."

Musa's grandson was assassinated and his son survived gunshot wound. The police refused to investigate the shooting.

A few years ago, the FBI accused 53-year-old Imam Luqman Abdullah of being "the radical leader of a Sunni Islam group in bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit
... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang...
" and assassinated him, according to Crescent International.

Luqman was shot 20 times by the FBI on October 28, 2009 during a raid on a warehouse used as a prayer facility. Several thousand Moslems attended his funeral prayer held at the Moslem Center.

Imam Abdul Alim Musa is the founder of Islamic Institute of Counter-Zionist American Psychological Warfare and a member of the Institute of Contemporary Islamic Thought.

India-Pakistan
Nawaz 'gratefully' acknowledges Indian PM's letter
[DAWN] Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
on Monday responded to a letter sent by his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in which the PM 'gratefully acknowledged the deep sympathies for the people affected in Pakistain by monsoon rains and flooding".

Narendra Modi on Sunday wrote to Nawaz Sharif, expressing distress over the devastation caused by torrential rains in Jammu and Kashmire on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC).

"The offer for assistance in our relief efforts is equally thoughtful. Such solidarity in the face of adversity is indeed valuable," said the prime minister in his letter, the text of which was released to the media.

"I was anguished to see the scale of human suffering and physical destruction as I toured affected areas of Kashmire the other day.

"I am aware that the Kashmiri's on the other side of the Line of Control have also faced heavy loss of life and material damage.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families in this difficult time, and we remain prepared to extend a helping hand, in whatever way possible, to the efforts for their relief and rehabilitation," Nawaz Sharif said in his reponse.

Political impasse: Government, PTI talks conclude
[DAWN] Another round of talks between the government and the protesting Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) concluded in the federal capital on Monday, DawnNews reported.

PTI's negotiating team included vice president Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi and Jehangir Tareen whereas the government's team included Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid.

The meeting took place at Tareen's residence.

Following the meeting, government negotiators rushed away without speaking to media representatives.

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
Qureshi told news hounds that some progress had been made between the two sides but disagreement still pertained on two core issues.

He furthermore told news hounds that the conduct of PTI in the negotiations is very much positive, adding that they want to end the deadlock.

He said the PTI had shown demonstrated flexibility in the Islamabad protests and added that they wanted to strengthen democracy, even more than before.

Today's meeting came a day after the negotiating teams met yesterday and claimed that "progress had been made" but admitted that there were still certain "core issues" that needed to be resolved.

Speaking to Dawn yesterday, Qureshi had said there were three core issues on which the deadlock between the government and the PTI remained. When asked what these three issues were, Qureshi refused to name them.

Iraq
IS using children as suicide bombers: UN
[ARABNEWS] Islamic State (IS) fighters in Iraq have killed hundreds of children including in summary executions and used some as jacket wallahs, the top UN envoy on children and armed conflict said Monday.

"Up to 700 children have been killed or maimed in Iraq since the beginning of the year, including in summary executions," Leila Zerrougui told the UN Security Council.

Zerrougui said IS fighters were recruiting boys as young as 13 to carry weapons, guard strategic locations and arrest civilians.

"Other children are used as suicide bombers," she added.

Militias allied to the Iraqi government are also using children to combat the jihadists and "numerous children" detained by the government went missing after militias stormed the prisons in July, she added.

World governments and the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
have repeatedly accused Islamic State fighters of atrocities since they overran large swathes of Iraq and Syria in June.

New UN High Commissioner of Human Rights, Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, said in Geneva earlier that the IS forces of Evil were creating a "house of blood" in the zones that they control.

The accusations came ahead of a UN summit to be hosted by US President Barack Obama
Jedi mind meld...
on September 25 on the threat of imported muscle seen as fueling the fighting in Iraq and Syria.

The UN Security Council last month adopted a resolution that seeks to choke off funding and the flow of imported muscle to the Islamists, and warns that the string of atrocities may constitute crimes against humanity.

The council on Monday was holding a debate on child soldiers, with the focus also on Libya, Afghanistan, Central African Republic, Mali and South Sudan where children are being recruited as soldiers.

In the Central African Republic, about 8,000 children have been enlisted to fight in various gangs, UN peacekeeping chief Herve Ladsous told the council.

The top UN body heard an appeal for reintegration from US actor Forest Whitaker, a goodwill ambassador for UNESCO, whose foundation is active in South Sudan.

"How alone these children must feel when they return from the battlefield to a world they do not recognize," said Whitaker.

"Unless we are there to meet them with open arms, open homes, and open schools, their wars will never end. And neither will ours."

A "Children, Not Soldiers" campaign was launched at the United Nations earlier this year with the goal of ensuring that no children are serving in government forces by the end of 2016.

[ARABNEWS] Israel has rejected New Zealand's new ambassador because he is also an envoy to the Paleostinian Authority, officials said Monday. New Zealand officials said that since 2008, its ambassadors in Turkey have been responsible for covering a large swath of territory. But Israel has refused to accept their latest appointment to the post, Jonathan Curr, who was due to travel to Jerusalem in the coming days to present his papers. "A few days ago, Israel advised New Zealand that it would not accept as ambassador a person who was also a representative to the Paleostinian Authority," Foreign Minister Murray McCully said in a statement.

Sotloff Family Spokesman: Syria's 'So-Called Moderate Rebels' Sold Sotloff to ISIS
[Daily Caller] A spokesman for the family of murdered journalist Steven Sotloff claimed Monday night that Sotloff was sold to the terrorist group the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) by Syria's 'so-called moderate rebels.'

Sotloff family spokesman Barak Barfi, a foreign policy research fellow at the New American Foundation, made the startling claim in an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper.

"We believe that these so-called moderate rebels that people want our administration to support, one of them sold him probably for something between $25,000 and $50,000 to ISIS and that was the reason he was captured," Barfi said. Police Chief Rejects Fundraising for ISIL in Iran's Border Towns
[ABNA.IR] "We have not seen any fundraising for the ISIL in Iran's border cities," Brigadier General Ahmadi Moqaddam told news hounds on the sidelines of a forum of deputy governors in Tehran on Monday.

He reiterated that the ISIL is not popular in Iran, and said, "We saw that after the ISIL attacked the Iraqi Kurds, people in our country's Kurdish-populated regions became very active to collect aid for Iraqi Kurds."

General Ahmadi Moqaddam, however, noted that very few people might have been deceived by the ISIL, "but they do not pose a threat to the country's security because the opposition wave against ISIL is very vast and strong".

The Iranian police commander said that the Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
Death Eaters have nothing to do with the Sunni Moslems, adding, "All Shiite and Sunni Ulemas (scholars) have disavowed the (terrorist) group."

He pointed to the rumors about the ISIL movements in Iran's border regions, and said, "The recent operations of the Iraqi army can be good news that the ISIL will stay away from Iran's borders, although we are not facing any ISIL force along the borders and they are not present there."

In relevant remarks on Saturday, Ahmadi Moqaddam reiterated Tehran's tight control over the country's borders, saying the armed forces were keeping a watchful eye on every suspicious move along the borderline.

"We don't have any problem at the borders; yet Death Eaters are always seeking to come to the borders to smuggle drugs and explosives. But today the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Law Enforcement Police are making strenuous efforts in Saravan region (in the Southeastern Sistan and Balouchestan province) to further improve people's security," Ahmadi Moqaddam said in presser in the Northeastern city of Mashhad.

Earlier today, Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli announced that the ISIL has sought to recruit Iranian through propaganda on the Internet and even contacted a number of people, but failed.

Rahmani Fazli told news hounds that the country has detained a number of Afghan and Pak nationals on their way to join the ISIL.

Rahmani Fazli rejected media reports that the ISIL is recruiting forces in Iran, and said Iran is well aware of the terrorist group's plans for Iran and other regional countries.

"The group has extensive plans and based on our documents, they planned to make an aggression against our country and other countries, but Iran is so powerful that such a small group cannot make any aggression against it," he said.

"Of course, in certain cases, there have been some Afghans and Paks who intended to pass through the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran's borders (to join the ISIL), but we have prevented their entrance or transit through our borders and have made some arrests in this regard as well," he added.

Stressing the high preparedness and vigilance of the Iranian security forces and border residents against the threats of the terrorist grouplets, he said, "The Iranian security forces are in full control, while the terrorist group is being defeated on Iraq's soil."

IS fighters 'using US arms in Syria'
[ARABNEWS] Islamic State (IS) jihadis appear to be using captured US military issue arms and weapons supplied to moderate rebels in Syria, according to a report published Monday.

The study by the London-based small-arms research organization Conflict Armament Research documented weapons seized by Kurdish forces from gunnies in Iraq and Syria over a 10-day period in July.

The report said the jihadis disposed of "significant quantities" of US-made small arms including M-16 assault rifles and included photos showing the markings "Property of US Govt."

It also found that anti-tank rockets used by IS in Syria were "identical to M79 rockets transferred to forces operating under the (rebel) Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
umbrella in 2013."

The rockets were made in the then Yugoslavia in the 1980s.

In neighboring Iraq, IS jihadists seized significant quantities of US equipment from the Iraqi army when soldiers abandoned positions in northern areas when faced with a hard boy offensive in June.

The group captured a number of American-made Humvee armored vehicles, which are now being targeted in US air strikes, and has reportedly used them in suicide kabooms against Iraqi forces on at least two occasions.

Meanwhile,
