5 more migrant buses from Texas arrive in NYC as Abbott calls out Adams' 'hypocrisy'
[FOXNEWS] Five more buses arrived in New York City from Texas Wednesday, the most buses in one day to reach the Big Apple.

The new buses are only the latest to make the trip — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott
... governor of Texas. Abbott is a Republican. His 2014 Dem opponent, state senatrix Wendy Davis, thought the absolute, most pressing, most important issue facing the state was abortion. Abbott beat the pantyhose off her. His 2018 opponent, Lupe Valdez didn't dwell too heavily on abortion, but she lost too...
has sent more than 1,000 migrants colonists to New York since Aug. 5, his office has said.

Abbott began sending migrants colonists out of his state to liberal cities like New York and Washington, D.C., thousands of miles from the U.S.-Mexico border as a way to bring attention to the migrant crisis affecting his state.

Abbott called out Adams' "hypocrisy" in a Wednesday New York Post op-ed, saying the mayor "likes to pat himself on the back for welcoming migrants colonists with open arms to his sanctuary city. That is, until he actually has to follow through on those lofty promises."

"Adams talked the talk about being a sanctuary city — welcoming illegal immigrants colonists into the Big Apple with warm hospitality," Abbott wrote. "Talk is cheap. When pressed into fulfilling such ill-considered policies, he wants to condemn anyone who is pressing him to walk the walk."

The number of Kenyan soldiers in Somalia increased
[ShabelleMedia] Refunds for Kenyan troops fighting al-Shabaab
...... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa...
Death Eaters in Somalia exceeded the target by 20 per cent for the year ended June 2022, pointing to the presence of more soldiers than earlier projected.

The latest Treasury data says grants from the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
, the US, the UK and other partners rose to Ksh3.6 billion ($30 million) against a target of Ksh3 billion ($25 million).

More than half — Ksh1.846 billion ($15 million or 51.2 percent) of the funds were wired in the first quarter of the financial year, Ksh690 million ($5.7 million) in the third, while the remainder Ksh1.067 billion ($8.9 million) came after the term of the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Mission in Somalia (Amisom) ended.

The disbursements for the year ended June 2022 were, however, the lowest in more than six years, having slid sharply compared with Ksh8.94 billion ($74.5 million) in the prior year.

The Treasury funds operations by the Kenya Defence Forces in war-torn Somalia and gets refunded by the Defence ministry once they get cash from the African Union.

African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) took over from Amisom on April 1 following approval from the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
Security Council, ending the former’s 15 years of mission.

The ATMIS has been mandated to work with Somali National Security Forces towards lasting peace and stability in the Horn of Africa country, which has been ravaged by civil war for more than three decades.

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), in the book titled War for Peace: Kenya’s Military in the African Mission in Somalia, 2011-2020— published May 8, 2020 — suggested that reforming the Somali National Army to take charge of sustainable peace should be the first pillar of the AU mission’s exit plan.

The second pillar is creating a "stable, peaceful and prosperous" Jubbaland, which has had relative peace amid years of civil strife in mainland Somalia by "securing routes in Jubbaland accessible to and used by al-Shabaab".

Kenya formally sent about 4,660 soldiers to Somalia in October 2011 after incessant attacks and kidnapping of civilians by al-Shabaab Death Eaters within its territory, numbers which have since been gradually trimmed.

A year later, the UN Security Council gave Kenya the green light to join Amisom, a decision that meant the Treasury would not bear the full costs of the incursion.

Earlier estimates showed the international community pays $1,028 (Ksh122,332 under prevailing rates) for each soldier per month. Their respective governments then deduct about $200 (Ksh23,800) for administrative costs, meaning the soldiers take home about $800 (Ksh95,200).

A leaked damming audit report by PwC Associates Ltd (Mauritius) earlier last year queried payment of soldiers who had left the mission, pointing to weak accountability measures in the payroll that resulted in possible loss of millions of dollars between 2016 and 2018.

Soldiers usually serve for one year which may be extended by a few months or cut short depending on the situation and the financial operations.

Under the Amisom, the EU funds largely catered for allowances for the about 20,000 Amisom troops and police, international and local civilian staff salaries and operational costs of their offices.

Dashed hopes: Migrants' risky journey to Europe through Libya
[AlAhram] Godwin risked everything for a better life in Europe, but he was detained and ransomed in Libya by European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
-backed authorities accused of "extreme abuse" against captured migrants colonists.

The 34-year-old Nigerian had paid 1,100 euros ($1,100) for a place on an overcrowded vessel from the Libyan port of Zawiya, heading for Italian shores via the world's deadliest migration route.

"It was night when I got on the boat, it was already dark. I didn't know (where we were going)," he said, giving only his first name. "I just wanted to go to Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and have a good life."

Those hopes were dashed when a Libyan patrol boat approached.
"Oh noes!. I am apprehended!"
Godwin said he was so reluctant to avoid going back to Libya that he considered throwing himself into the sea.
But he didn't
But he was detained and dragged back to Libya, where he was only released after his family paid a 550 euro ransom.

His is far from the only case.

Earlier this month, Human Rights Watch claimed that some 32,450 people had been intercepted by Libyan forces last year and "hauled back to arbitrary detention and abuse" in the war-ravaged country as European countries turned a blind eye.

HRW accused the EU's border agency Frontex of using a drone to provide information that "facilitates interceptions and returns to Libya ... (despite) overwhelming evidence of torture and exploitation of migrants colonists and refugees".

The migrant-run @RefugeesinLibya Twitter account regularly posts images of refugees allegedly killed by Libyan forces or tortured to extort money from their families.

Refugees in the country are "tortured by European taxpayers' money, dehumanised and deprived in all forms," it said in a recent tweet.

That chimes with a report in October by United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
experts, who said acts of "murder, enslavement, torture, imprisonment (and) rape" against detained migrants colonists in Libya may amount to crimes against humanity.

None of this has stopped the European Union funding and working closely with the Libyan coasties to prevent migrants colonists reaching northern Mediterranean shores.

The accusations against Europe are not limited to financial support.

Alarm Phone, a group running a hotline for migrants colonists needing rescue, this month accused Malta of failing to launch operations to rescue migrants colonists in danger, "despite their obligations to do so" under international law.

"Alarm Phone has witnessed this non-assistance policy in action innumerable times," it said, accusing Malta of "abandoning boats at risk of capsizing" within the island's search and rescue zone.

From the start of January until August 20, almost 13,000 migrants colonists have been intercepted and dragged back to detention in Libya while trying to cross the Mediterranean, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Some have been detained, while others have been sent home or simply allowed to leave the overcrowded detention centres.

A further 918 were either dead or missing.

Libyan authorities deny reports that migrants colonists are abused.

"The arrests are carried out according to the rules in place," a migration official said.

But many argue that the long years of fighting since a NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
-backed revolt toppled and killed longtime ruler Moamer Qadaffy in 2011 has left the country dealing with some instability.

Sultan Of Sokoto-led Group, NSCIA Commends Nigerian Court For Giving Pastor, Accomplice Death Penalty Over ‘Satanic Church Ritual’

This sounds very much like a blood libel rather than something that actually happened.
The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has praised Nigerian Judiciary for sentencing a pastor, Erinmole Adesokunbo and his accomplice, Adedoyin Oyekanmi to death for the gruesome murder of a seven-year-old Moslem, identified as Kazeem Rafiu.

The group, led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alh.
...that’s short for the title Al Haji...
Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, on Wednesday, said this in a statement signed by its Deputy Secretary-General, Prof. Salisu Shehu.

The Sultan of Sokoto is considered the spiritual leader of Moslems in Nigeria.

NSCIA in the statement also charged President Muhammadu Buhari’s government to ensure those behind the murder of the late army general, Idris Alkali, were brought to justice as well.

The statement reads, "On Tuesday, August 9, 2022, an Ikeja Special Offences Court sentenced Pastor Erinmole Adesokunbo and another Christian, Adedoyin Oyekanmi, to death for the heinous crime of beheading a seven-year-old Moslem boy, Kazeem Rafiu, and using his head for rituals in a church.

"It was the culmination of a five-year case involving the duo, who on June 7, 2017, viciously cut off the innocent boy's head, buried it under the altar of their church and threw his body into the canal. It was a most condemnable murder of the highest order committed in the name of fetish development of the church.

"In the words of the just judge, Oluwatoyin Taiwo, who delivered the judgement, the evil pastor and his accomplice ’have cruelly and intentionally killed a seven-year-old boy. This deprived him and his family of a bright destiny.’"

The Moslem body took a swipe at some Christian bodies and leaders who have blamed killings by Islamic gunnies in the country on an alleged ’Islamisation’ and ’Fulani
... a peculiarly brutal tribe of Moslem herdsmen infesting Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and probably other places that are light on law and order and heavy on tribal identity...
sation’ agenda.

It said, "Though the judgement would not restore the precious soul of the young Kazeem, it proves that the path adopted by Lagos Moslems of allowing Christian criminals to be treated as other criminals and not criminalise Christendom for it is civil and logical. The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) cannot but acknowledge the development which it had been closely monitoring since the unfortunate incident sent shock waves to the country in 2017.

"We unequivocally commend the judiciary for meticulously carrying out the investigation and delivery of justice. Though it is well known that justice delayed is justice denied and we hope that the wheel of justice shall roll much faster in future, it is still gratifying that the prosecution was diligently carried out until judgement was served without fear or favour.

"Many Moslems felt beheading a Moslem boy for church rituals is distasteful and provocative enough for NSCIA to have condemned Christianity and the Christians. Such Moslems, who expect NSCIA to adopt a divisive
...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled...
propaganda approach of others, fail to realise that two wrongs don't make a right.

"The stance of the Council, however, is that one does not bite a dog because it has bitten one and you don't roll with pig in the mud just because it enjoys doing so.

"The Council believes that criminals are criminals and they should be treated without appealing to base emotions or using the crime of a minority to vilify, malign or torment the majority. Neither the church nor the Bible asked the evil pastor and his accomplice to do what they did, we insist, and they should be distanced from the teachings of Jesus.

"If the Council had chosen to be cantankerous like others, innocent Christians would have been unduly tormented, the church would have been maligned and the polity would have been overheated on the sensationalisation of a pastor murdering a Moslem and burying his head in his church.

"For the avoidance of doubt, the penchant for weaponising religion for political expediency and constantly harassing Moslems in general for the misdemeanor of every criminal that is nominally associated with Islam is detestable to every conscionable Nigerian, not just Moslems.

"Religious leaders should rather be circumspect in their utterances and pronouncements as true people of God, not politicians in cassocks. They should resist the temptation of inflaming passions through the baseless allegations of the so-called Fulanisation and Islamisation, which are actually a smokescreen for their discreet atrocities and undisguised bigotry against Moslems in Nigeria. This is just a piece of advice and religion is essentially about giving advice."

Similarly, the Council condemned the gruesome murder of Sheikh Goni Aisami Gashua last Friday (August 19, 2022) by two suspected soldiers, Lance Corporals John Gabriel and Adamu Gideon of the 241Recce Battalion, Nguru, Yobe State.

Following the arrest of the suspects, the Council called for "calm among the Moslem ummah, especially in Yobe State and immediate action from the authorities starting with the prosecution of the perpetrators in order to serve as a deterrent to others who use their positions to kill innocent Nigerians".

It appealed to Moslems to "have faith in the military authorities and the judiciary in thoroughly investigating the murder and bringing the perpetrators to justice, we urge them not to read religious motives into the incident as others would do".

"We are not like them. Since we come from Allah and we shall all return to Him and no soul would taste death except with His leave, the Ummah should rest assured that the perpetrators will come to judgement. Moslems should therefore remain calm as they join us in praying that Allah grants him and others like him Aljannah Firdaus," it said.

The Moslem Council, however, expressed "disappointment in the Federal Government on the way and manner in which the murder of Gen. Alkali was handled".

It said, "Up till this moment, we have not heard what became of his killers. While we sue for justice in the case of Sheikh Aisami, we charge the Federal Government to ensure that the killers of Gen. Alkali are brought to face the wrath of the law.

"Once again, the Council commends the judiciary, condemns those who use every available instance to cast aspersion on Moslems and Islam in Nigeria and charges the authorities to expeditiously bring the murderers of Sheikh Aisami to book."

Afghan Evacuees in UAE Protest over Stagnant Resettlement Process and Living in Limbo in Prison-Like Conditions
[KhaamaPress] Hundreds of Afghan refugees who were evacuated from Afghanistan to await resettlement in the United States and other countries have protested against the slow resettlement process, living in limbo and the prison-like conditions at a facility in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates where they have been housed for months.

Two Afghans who were inside the facility told the media that hundreds of Afghans had protested for freedom on Monday and Tuesday and that they believed thousands of Afghans were awaiting resettlement to the US or other countries.

One video shared on social media showed men and children repeating "we want justice" while wearing white blindfolds bearing the word "freedom."

In an apparent protest against what some Afghans believe are prison-like circumstances in the facility, the adults and some children reportedly had tied down their wrists.

As Afghan evacuees are housed in the Abu Dhabi facility known as Emirates Humanitarian City, the UAE maintains that it is committed to ensuring that they can live in safety, security, and dignity.

An official from the UAE acknowledged the frustrations and stated that Abu Dhabi was collaborating with the American Embassy to relocate the Afghans to the US or somewhere else, as according to the official, the resettlement process is taking longer than expected, Rooters reported.

A US State Department official visited the facility in response to protests that broke out in the facility in February after it appeared that the resettlement process had stopped. The official assured the protesters that all of the evacuees will be resettled by the end of August.

Following the collapse of Afghanistan’s foreign-backed government and the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
’s takeover, the UAE has volunteered to temporarily house thousands of Afghans who were evacuated on behalf of the US and other Western countries.

Mohammed al-Bukhaiti: Ansarullah is sole force capable of guaranteeing Yemen's sovereignty
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Member of the Political Bureau of Ansarullah, Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, said on Wednesday that Ansarullah is the only solid core around the illusory sovereignty and independence of Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...

In a tweet on Twitter, al-Bukhaiti noted that this is because "the collapse of the Islah Party in front of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council forces for fear of bombing by Saudi-led coalition aircraft."

Al-Bukhiti added that "the bet on finding a third party to fight the coalition and fight Ansarullah to restore illusory sovereignty is nothing but rosy dreams promoted by the coalition."

FO rejects India's 'purported closure' of inquiry into missile accidentally fired into Pakistan
[DAWN] Pakistain on Wednesday rejected India’s "purported closure" of the inquiry into accidental firing of a supersonic missile into the country on March 9, 2022, reiterating the demand for a joint probe into the incident.

Yesterday, the Indian Air Force said the government had sacked three officers involved in the firing.

"A Court of Inquiry, set up to establish the facts of the case, including fixing responsibility for the incident, found that deviation from the Standard Operating Procedures by three officers led to the accidental firing of the missile," it said in a statement.

The BrahMos missile — a nuclear-capable, land-attack cruise missile jointly developed by Russia and India — was fired earlier this year, prompting Pakistain to seek answers from New Delhi on the safety mechanisms in place to prevent accidental launches.

In a statement today, Foreign Officer (FO) spokesperson Asim Iftikhar Ahmad said that it had seen India’s announcement of the findings regarding the incident and the decision to terminate the services of three officers reportedly found responsible for the reckless incident.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Aoun may stay in Baabda or form military govt
[An Nahar] President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
may stay in the Baabda Palace following the end of his presidential term in order not to cede his powers to a caretaker cabinet, senior Free Patriotic Movement
Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic...
sources have said.

"We will not accept, in any way, the remaining of the caretaker cabinet should we reach presidential vacuum, and we will not accept the scheme of Speaker Nabih Knobby Berri
...Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, head of the Amal Shiite party aligned with Hezbollah, a not very subtle sock puppet of the Medes and Persians...
and PM-designate Najib Mikati that is based on ambiguous constitutional edicts," the sources told al-Akhbar newspaper in remarks published Wednesday.

"The choices are open before us, topped by the choice which neither us nor President Aoun want, which is his staying at the presidential palace, should Mikati fail to form a government before that," the sources added.

They also noted that such a choice might not be more controversial than "the caretaker cabinet’s inheritance of the president’s powers."

"Such an orientation will find support among a lot of Christian forces who reject infringement on the powers of the top Christian position, and Bkirki is certainly among them," the sources added.

Sources close to the FPM meanwhile told al-Akhbar that Aoun has two other options.

"The first is revoking Mikati’s designation and inviting parliament to new consultations to pick another premier who can form a government quickly, although this option needs a Sunni partner and may spark a crisis with the Sunni community," the sources said.

"There is also a choice for him to follow the example of (former) president Amin Gemayel, who formed in the last minutes of his term on Sep. 22, 1988 a military government to which he ceded the presidential powers, amid the presence of a resigned government that was led by ex-PM Salim al-Hoss, without that meaning that Aoun is compelled that such a government be a military one," the sources added.
