Conservative author and activist David Horowitz dies at 86
By Misty Severi

[JustTheNews] The conservative think-tank David Horowitz Freedom Center on Tuesday announced that its founder, David Horowitz, died at the age of 86.

The center revealed that Horowtiz, a renowned journalist and author, died after a "lengthy battle with cancer."

Horowitz was often referred to as a "red diaper baby," having been raised by parents who were in the Communist Party. He eventually became a dynamic conservative activist and author.

"Rest in Peace to my father [David Horowitz]," his son Benjamin Horowitz posted to X. "We love you Dad."

Benjamin Horowitz, one of the co-founders of the venture capitalist firm Andreessen Horowitz, shared an obituary that highlighted his father's wide-ranging career, which included multiple books, the creation of the center, and an endorsement of President Donald Trump.

"In the end, David helped countless people and expended every fiber of his being pushing society towards freedom," the obituary reads. "He may not have saved the world, but he most certainly made it a better place – especially for us. He was our super hero and we will love him forever."

He is survived by his sons Ben Horowitz, Jonathan Horowitz, and daughter Anne. His other daughter Sarah Rose died in 2007.

Long-awaited Harvard antisemitism report shows intense campus hostility to Jews, Israelis
[IsraelTimes] University’s president apologizes as task force urges reforms to admissions, curriculum, research and bias training; ‘being Jewish was largely irrelevant’ before Oct. 7, says student

Harvard University on Tuesday released its long-awaited internal report on campus antisemitism, depicting a hostile atmosphere toward Jews and Israelis before and after the October 2023 invasion of Israel.
Jew hate had become fashionable years before 10/7. And Harvard prides itself on being a thought leader in every area, which means entirely too many of them slavishly follow the common wisdom, however stupid and vicious it may be.
The report came amid heavy pressure on the university from the Trump administration and outlines a series of recommendations the university should take to remedy the campus environment.

#4  The inclusion of non-Jews into his following occurred later.

The work of Paul of Tarsus (formerly Saul) as I recall. The Jerusalem faction led by Jesus brothers insisted that theirs was entirely a Jewish sect, while Paul claimed his own revelation gave him the responsibility to preach to and convert the gentiles without requiring conversion to Judaism first. The Roman conquest of Jerusalem in 70 AD made clear, as far as the followers of Christ were concerned, God’s opinion on the subject. And certainly the gentiles were happy to get all the morals, ethics, and monotheism without the limitations of keeping kosher and the discomforts of male circumcision.

Somalia Plans to Retake Al-Shabaab-Held Town Ahead of Major Military Offensive
[ShabelleMedia] The Somali government has confirmed plans to retake the strategic town of Adan Yabal in the Middle Shabelle region after it was recently seized by the turban group al-Shabaab
... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all ofwhich have enough problems without them...
Al-Shabaab fighters took control of Adan Yabal in a swift offensive, temporarily assuming authority over local administration and security. The town, located in central Somalia, serves as a strategic corridor between the Middle Shabelle and Hiiraan regions—making it a key target in the group’s ongoing insurgency.

Authorities in Mogadishu said a comprehensive operation is being prepared to recapture the town and restore control to the HirShabelle state administration. The offensive is part of broader efforts to improve security in Middle Shabelle, a region that has witnessed an uptick in al-Shabaab activity, including ambushes and coordinated attacks.

The Somali National Army, in coordination with local community defense units known as Macawiisley, is reportedly ready to launch a large-scale military campaign to drive the group out of Adan Yabal. The operation will involve coordinated clearing missions aimed at neutralizing turban hideouts and supply routes in and around the town.

The government also said it plans to strengthen local security forces and governance structures in Adan Yabal once the area is liberated, to prevent the group from regaining control. Civilian safety and the restoration of public services are central to the government’s post-conflict stabilization plan.

Authorities added that reconstruction and social service delivery will follow the military operation, aiming to return the town to normality and support residents who have endured hardship under al-Shabaab’s control.

Pentagon: More than 1,000 targets hit in Yemen during air campaign against Houthis
Good. Ram it down their throats until they learn their lesson.
[IsraelTimes] US Defense Department says the strikes are ‘killing Houthi fighters and leaders… and degrading their capabilities’; UK announces joint attack with US on the Iran-backed rebels

US forces have struck more than 1,000 targets in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
since Washington launched the latest round of its air campaign against the Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
rebels in mid-March, the Pentagon said Tuesday.

The Houthis began targeting shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden in late 2023 and the United States responded with strikes against them starting early the following year.

Since March 15, "USCENTCOM strikes have hit over 1,000 targets, killing Houthi fighters and leaders... and degrading their capabilities," Pentagon front man Sean Parnell said in a statement, referring to the military command responsible for the Middle East.

Britannia said on Wednesday it had joined the United States in carrying out strikes against Houthi targets.

"UK forces participated in a joint operation with US forces against a Houthi military target in Yemen," the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

It said the Royal Air Force had struck buildings around 25 kilometers (15 miles) south of the capital Sanaa at night, which were being used by Houthi rebels to manufacture drones.

Britannia has taken part in joint Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s against Houthis led by the United States since early 2024.

CENTCOM on Sunday had put the figure at more than 800 targets hit since mid-March, saying hundreds of Houthi fighters had been killed as a result.

Hours after that announcement, Houthi-controlled media said US strikes had hit a migrant detention center in the city of Saada, killing at least 68 people, while a United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
spokesperson later said preliminary information indicated that those killed were migrants colonists.

A US defense official said the military was looking into reports of civilian casualties resulting from its strikes in Yemen.

Fifth Column
L.A. Drops Charges for Hamas Rioters, Charges 2 Jews Instead
[PJMedia] Los Angeles will not be criminally charging 300 pro-Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
UCLA and USC campus rioters, but the city will be criminally charging two Jews who had the temerity to fight back against the genocidal neo-Nazi
...adherents of a philosophy that was seen even at the time as pure evil, which makes them either consciously purely evil, or attention-seeking ratbags. Pick one, or both....
s. Adolf Hitler
...late Fuehrer of Germany, founder of the Third Reich, currently communing with his pals Himmler and Heydrich. He is reincarnated every few days, sometimes every few hour if it's an election year, as a politician somebody doesn't like...
would be so proud.

In Los Angeles, apparently, there’s absolutely no issue with calling for the genocide of Jews, attacking Jews, or enthusiastically cheering on murderous Islamic terrorists. But it is a problem if you as a Jew try to defend yourself and give the jihad-lovers a taste of their own medicine. It is deeply disturbing that such a situation could be happening in America and that Democrat politicians, leftist universities, and woke media are normalizing and even praising violent mostly peaceful Jew-hatred.

Hopefully the Trump administration will be investigating what appears to be a serious civil rights violation, and what is certainly a political and institutional seal of approval on violent mostly peaceful antisemitism. This is not justice, this is partisan weaponization of justice.

Only three of the pro-Hamas rioters are being referred for informal prosecutorial proceedings. "After careful consideration, we are filing criminal charges against two individuals and sending three others to City Attorney Hearings," blathered Hydee Feldstein Soto, Los Angeles city attorney, according to Daniel Greenfield at JihadWatch. "I want to thank the attorneys in my Criminal Branch for their dedication to the rule of law and their commitment to objectively evaluating the evidence and referrals received on each of these matters." Apparently attacking Jews purely for their religion is part of the rule of law. Who knew?

"The only two people charged are the Jewish targets of the pro-Hamas mobs," Greenfield emphasized. Don’t they know they’re just supposed to be doormats for terrorist-loving radicals?!?!

The vast majority of pro-Hamas perpetrators have their cases dropped.

[Hamas-linked] CAIR is cheering the move which should tell you everything.

Three, including a fellow named ’Ali Abuamouneh’ are being routed to ’diversion’ hearings. Only Edan On and Matthew Katz, Jewish community members who fought back against the Hamas mobs, are being charged...

Giving nearly every pro-Hamas arrestee a pass and charging only Jewish community members demonstrates many things, systemic prejudice, a weaponized justice system and bandidos bully boyz protecting their own... the one thing it does not demonstrate is "objectivity" and "dedication to the rule of law".

But leftists and Islamists led a campaign to intimidate Hydee Feldstein Soto and they got their way.

Ironically, Soto told Ballotpedia she had "zero tolerance for hate crimes." Except when they’re committed against her fellow Jews, apparently.

Greenfield also argues for the necessity of a Justice Department investigation into this shocking subversion of justice, with potential pardons for Katz and On.

Activist at Michigan Gaza fundraiser calls for end of America

[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] The Middle East Media Research Institute shared a video of a man in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, talking about how the United States must be destroyed. The bearded man, wearing a keffiyeh, walks along the street with a white woman, also keffiyeh clad, who looks on dumbly as he calls for the death of the nation.

"The message for the people of Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
," he said, heavily accenting Gaza but otherwise speaking in a clear American accent, "is going to be more of the message that should be sent to the people here, in that they have achieved victory. We haven't done anywhere near enough. And the people here—I promise you—we do feel ashamed. We do feel like we're not doing enough. We do feel like change needs to come, because change must come."

"And in the form that it must come is that this empire, the American empire, that's been hurting our people since the beginning, the imperial western powers that have been hurting our people since the beginning, they must fall."

"And inshallah, inshallah, they will fall. And my message to people of Gaza and oppressed people across the world is that there are people here, both young and old, who are going to be willing to fight and are willing to put their lives and everything they can on the line to bring these empires down. Because they must come down."

The video was taken at a Dearborn Heights Fundraiser for the Middle East Children's Alliance on March 19, 2025. The fundraiser was for the "Gaza Emergency." The group writes "During 18 months of brutal attacks on Gaza, MECA team and partners are providing emergency assistance to children and families to help them survive."

PKK says expects Ocalan to lead party congress
[Rudaw] The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) on Monday stated that they expect the group’s incarcerated

leader Abdullah Ocalan to lead an upcoming party congress without specifying when said congress is set to be held.

"We hear that Leader Apo is hopeful and continuing his efforts. However,

we have yet to receive anything concrete that would allow the implementation of what was outlined in the February 27 call," read a statement from the PKK, adding, "We hope for a change in this situation - that Leader Apo will achieve conditions where he can live and work freely and be able to lead the party congress that everyone eagerly awaits."

Book 'im, Mahmoud!
PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, who has been held in Imrali prison in northwest Turkey since 1999.

Ocalan called on the group to disarm and disband in a historic call on February 27, requesting them to take the struggle for Kurdish rights into the political sphere. Nevertheless, despite constantly showing rhetorical support, neither the Ottoman Turkish government nor the PKK has so far leaped towards actual peace.

The PKK has repeatedly stated it is unable to dissolve fully without Ocalan's attendance at an official congress to ratify such a decision.

Ocalan’s message sparked hope for an end to the conflict that has taken 40,000 lives and has been welcomed by many Western countries, including the US.

Despite the ceasefire, Turkey has continued to strike alleged PKK positions in the Kurdistan Region, where the group is headquartered.

On Wednesday, Ottoman Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler said that Ankara will later inform the PKK of the designated location where they should lay down their arms.

Omer Celik, spokesperson for Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), said last week that "new developments" could arise later this month regarding the grinding of the peace processor.

Founded in 1978, the PKK initially struggled for autonomy but now seeks broader cultural and political rights within Turkey. It is designated a terrorist organization by Ankara and its Western allies.

Trump administration revokes 4K visas for students with criminal records for assault, robbery: ‘Breaking the law with no consequences’
[NYPost] The Trump administration has revoked the visas of 4,000 foreign students in its first 100 days — the bulk of which have committed crimes in the US including arson, assault and robbery, The Post has learned.

More than 90% of the rogue students who saw their visas nixed had committed crimes such as arson, wildlife and human trafficking, child endangerment, domestic abuse, DUI and robbery, a senior State Department source told The Post Monday.

More than 500 of them had assault raps.

"They came and they were breaking the law with no consequences," said the source.

"We set up a special action team to handle this."

The State Department worked with the Department of Homeland Security, which tapped into their databases and compared that information with existing law enforcement records.

Officials only considered "serious" cases as part of the effort.

"There were cases like where it was not a serious thing, like littering, or somebody had charges that were dropped, where we didn’t revoke those. Because it should be a serious matter," said the source.

The thousands of students, most of whom hail from Asia and the Middle East, were swiftly notified that the State Department had stripped them of their status in the US.

Some have already departed on their own while others will soon be rounded up by immigration agents as part of Trump’s mass deportation agenda.

Tom Homan reveals Biden admin's termination of DNA testing program for illegal immigrant families increased child trafficking
Tom Homan revealed during a press briefing on Monday something that many had already forgotten. The Biden administration ended a program from Trump's first administration to DNA test children and families at border crossings.

That cancellation facilitated the trafficking of children, as there was no way to verify that they were with a trusted parent or relative. Critics said at the time that this was dangerous, but />Biden's team ended it anyway, with advocates saying it was unethical to do the testing.

"Family residential centers are for families," Homan said in response to questions about family separation. "They're not jails, they're open-air campers built for families, which means they have child psychologists, they have pediatricians. And why family residential centers? Because we want to make sure that child is with a parent.

India-Pakistan
India's Modi gives army freedom to act as tensions rise with Pakistan after deadly terror attack
[FoxNews] Pakistani minister claims India 'intends carrying out a military action' against his country 'in the next 24-36 hours'

India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is giving the armed forces near complete freedom of action to respond following a deadly attack on tourists in the disputed Jammu and Kashmir region on April 22 that saw 26 people killed by terrorists. India and Pakistan have exchanged fire every day since the attack along the Line of Control that separates the Indian and Pakistani areas of Kashmir.

The Times of India reported on Tuesday that Modi has given the military the operational freedom to decide on the mode, targets, and timing of the response to the attack in Kashmir.

Modi is set to convene another meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on Wednesday to coordinate India’s next moves.

The move comes as Pakistan's Minister for information and broadcasting claimed on X that his country has "credible intelligence that India intends carrying out military action against Pakistan in the next 24-36 hours on the pretext of baseless and concocted allegations of involvement in the Pahalgam incident."

Modi recently said India will "identify, track and punish every terrorist, their handlers and their backers," in a post on X. "We will pursue them to the ends of the earth," Modi added.

India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh told Reuters that the country has mobilized its forces because retaliation is "something which is imminent now."

The Resistance Front (TRF), an extremist group linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization based in Pakistan, claimed responsibility for the attack in Pahalgam. Lashkar-e-Taiba was responsible for the 2008 Mumbai attacks and is known to have links with the Pakistani military and a partnership with Pakistan’s Directorate for Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Pakistan has denied any involvement in the attack.
Pakistan lies, as usual.
The attack, which killed 26 people and was the worst terrorist attack on India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks, has increased tensions on the Indian subcontinent between two nuclear-armed powers.

"An Indian military response is likely reflecting the more muscular foreign policy of the Modi government as noted by its actions following previous terrorist attacks," Chietigj Bajpaee, senior research fellow for South Asia at Chatham House, told Fox News Digital.

Bajpaee noted that a surgical strike or airstrike is the most likely form of retaliation, and the response will likely take a calibrated approach to limit collateral damage and civilian casualties and to control the escalation ladder in order to keep the conflict below the nuclear threshold.

"However, this is easier said than done given the possibility of accidental escalation" and a "broader tit-for-tat military escalation cannot be ruled out," he warned.

Although there was limited outreach from Modi in the past, two rounds of escalation in 2016 and 2019 have soured relations.

Sadanand Dhume, senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, told Fox News Digital that Modi is facing pressure to mount a tough response.

"The Indian public is outraged by last week’s terrorist attack in Kashmir, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is under immense pressure to respond to the atrocity by striking Pakistan, which has long sponsored attacks on India," Dhume said.

Already India has suspended the landmark 1960 Indus Water Treaty, a key water-sharing agreement covering rivers that overlap both countries. Pakistan’s Minister of State for Law and Justice told Reuters that Islamabad plans on challenging India’s suspension of the treaty and is raising the issue with the World Bank.

Pakistan said the impediment to the free flow of water would constitute an act of war.

The rivalry between India and Pakistan dates back to the partition of the former British colony of India in 1947, with the establishment of Muslim-majority Pakistan and Hindu-majority India. The partition plan also provided the contested regions of Jammu and Kashmir with the opportunity to choose if they wanted to join either newly established nation. Kashmir ultimately decided to join India in exchange for help against invading Pakistani militias, with India and Pakistan fighting three wars over the territory since 1947.

India and Pakistan have an estimated combined 342 nuclear warheads, according to the Arms Control Association.

ICC prosecutor reportedly ordered to keep silent on arrest warrants for Israelis
[IsraelTimes] Judges tell Karim Khan behind closed doors that public announcements are putting pressure on international court investigating alleged war crimes, Guardian reports

International Criminal Court judges have reportedly forbidden prosecutor Karim Khan from publicly disclosing any new applications for arrest warrants in his case against Israel, in a move apparently aimed at lowering pressure on the war crimes tribunal.

The secret order bars Khan from publicly announcing applications to the court for arrest warrants or his intention to seek them, as he looks to level fresh war crimes charges against Israelis, UK newspaper The Guardian reported Monday.

that targeted one of the detention centers designated for African migrants colonists in Saada province on Monday.

The UN chief's spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, said the airstrikes ''pose a growing risk to the civilian population'' in the Arab country, including women and kiddies.

''We're saddened by the tragic loss of life, where many of these migrants colonists are believed to have been killed and injured,'' Dujarric told news hounds.

''We continue to call [on] parties to uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law, including the protection of civilians,'' he added.

Dujarric stressed that Yemen's hospitals are being overwhelmed due to the high number of injured, many of whom are critically maimed.

UNRWA: Over 50 our Staff abused, used as human shields by Israeli forces
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The UN agency for Paleostinian refugees, UNRWA, on Tuesday said more than 50 of its staff in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
were abused and used as human shields while in Israeli military detention.

''Since the start of the war in October 2023, over 50 UNRWA staff, among them teachers, doctors, social workers, have been detained and abused,'' UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini wrote on X.

''They have been treated in the most shocking & inhumane way. They reported being beaten and used as human shields.''

He noted that many of them were forced to make forced confessions under duress.

Lazzarini described what happened as ''horrific and shocking,'' calling for an international investigation and holding accountable those responsible for these violations and crimes committed against civilians, which violate international law in the Gaza Strip.

Lazzarini also indicated that thousands of tons of humanitarian aid are ready to enter Gaza, but the closure of the crossings by the occupation authorities is preventing this, leading to the spoilage of essential supplies amid the worsening hunger crisis.

He said that there are approximately 3,000 trucks loaded with aid awaiting entry, calling for the immediate lifting of the blockade to ensure that aid reaches those in need.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Invested the treasury in hotels. Investments in Antalya did not save the Syrian militant
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Leonid Tsukanov

[REGNUM] Recently, Issama Buidani, the leader of the Syrian group Jaysh al-Islam,
…in Rantburg’s archives spelt Jaish al Islam, which used to be known as Liwa al-Islam
was arrested in the United Arab Emirates. The militant did not expect such a turn of events.

By the time of his arrest, the field commander had already retired and was trying to start a new life as a Turkish citizen and philanthropist. However, the change of name and citizenship did not save him from falling under the surveillance of French law enforcement.

CHANGE OF OWNER
For much of the time since its formation in 2013, Jaysh al-Islam has been under the secret "care" of Saudi Arabia.

Riyadh invested heavily in arming and training the militants and even hired dozens of Pakistani instructors to teach them mine-making and ammunition manufacturing.

Thanks to Saudi aid, the rebels were able to acquire several tanks and heavy artillery, as well as dozens of upgraded sniper rifles.

The well-equipped group not only served as the spearhead of resistance against government forces, but was also used to contain proxy groups sponsored by Turkey.

However, Saudi support ended after the 2017 ouster of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, whose people had been directing operations in Syria through the National Council for Political and Security Affairs.

His successor, Mohammed bin Salman, chose to distance himself from dubious groups and placed his bets on supporting the legitimate government.

Left without an external sponsor – and furthermore pressed by government forces – supporters of Jaysh al-Islam began a gradual drift towards Turkey and Qatar and by 2018 were positioning themselves as members of a united “pro-Turkish front.”

True, relations with yesterday's rivals (and now allies) remained strained. Jaysh al-Islam was unable to establish contact with most of the forces of the pro-Turkish proxy network, and also entered into conflict with one of its "poles" - the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham* (HTS*) group.

There were constant clashes between them until the offensive on Damascus began in 2024.

FEATURED IN THE REPORTS
With the establishment of a transitional government led by former HTS leader Ahmed al-Sharaa, Jaysh al-Islam found itself out of work.

Its representatives did not get into high offices, but found themselves under the close attention of the "new security forces." Especially after the wave of ethnic and religious cleansing and pogroms that swept across the country in the first months after the change of power.

And although many of al-Sharaa’s former allies “distinguished themselves” in this direction, it was representatives of Jaysh al-Islam who appeared in reports on major Western television channels.

In addition, by that time the group already had a trail of mass murders and reprisals against foreign (mainly French) citizens, which made it a target of interest for the EU intelligence services.

In light of this, most of the group's functionaries preferred to lie low, so as not to fall into the hands of Interpol and not to become a bargaining chip in the struggle for spheres of influence in the new Syria.

IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO EXPEL
One of the leaders of Jaysh al-Islam, Issam Buydani, suddenly showed up in Turkey some time ago, already under the name Issam Beydatiuglu. With local citizenship and the status of a philanthropist.

According to Turkish publications, the former jihadist received his passport for investments in local resorts, spending at least 400 thousand dollars on these purposes.

A number of observers believe that Buidani, in one way or another, “poured” part of the “treasury” of “Jaysh al-Islam,” which amounted to tens of millions of dollars, into the country’s economy.

The news of the appearance of such a peculiar benefactor caused indignation among a part of Turkish society.

Turhan Çomez, a representative of the opposition Good Party of Balikesire, said that flirting with terrorists will not lead to anything good, and their investments only damage Turkey's image.

Some of Chomez's supporters went even further and launched an information campaign against Buidani on social media.

In their publications, they accused him of committing serious crimes in his homeland and called him a “field philanthropist,” hinting at his rebel past and the not entirely legal origin of the money he invested.

However, the opposition's information campaign had zero effect in practice. Buidani was not stripped of his Turkish citizenship and remained free.

Even a request to Interpol initiated by France did not help: Turkish security officials considered their colleagues’ arguments about Budayni’s participation in mass murders and extrajudicial executions in Syria “insufficiently substantiated” and dragged out a bureaucratic game that was expected to take more than one month.

THE FRENCH CONNECTION
However, Buidani was unable to escape justice - a few days after the uproar, he moved to the UAE, where he was detained by Dubai authorities at the request of France.

The Emirates' decision to detain Bouydani and hand him over to the French was part of a larger law enforcement effort.

Paris is preparing for a major trial aimed at investigating war crimes during the Syrian civil war, while trying to identify and arrest every dubious warlord it can get its hands on.

And the leadership of Jaysh al-Islam, whose hands were stained with the blood of citizens of the Fifth Republic, was among the first to come under attack.

Just a day after Buidani’s arrest, Islam Alloush, who occupied a fairly high position in the group’s hierarchy in the mid-2010s, was arrested in Marseille, France.

New arrests of yesterday's jihadists on the territory of third countries cannot be ruled out.

Official Damascus did not comment on the detention of the leader of Jaysh al-Islam, but it is highly likely that it assessed it positively. The UAE essentially freed the transitional government from the need to deal with its long-standing enemy on its own.

The ordinary militants remaining in Syria after the arrest of the “heavyweights” Buidani and Alloush are unlikely to decide to flee abroad (so as not to attract unnecessary attention from French law enforcement), which means they will be ready to fulfill any demands of the new authorities - if only they do not extradite them.

Türkiye also did not object, achieving several goals thanks to the arrest of the leader of Jaysh al-Islam.

On the one hand, it formally fulfilled its obligations to the field commander by granting him citizenship of the country, and on the other hand, it got rid of a dubious partner with the help of others.

Guarantees of Buidani's future freedom were probably not included in the deal.
