[NY Post] WTF?
A 10-year-old Texas boy confessed last week to killing a stranger over two years ago — but according to state law, the alleged murderous youngster cannot be charged with the crime.
The boy shared key details that have not been revealed to the public in the 2022 slaying of Brandon O’Quinn Rasberry, a case that has left authorities scratching their heads for more than two years.
Rasberry, 32, was found in his RV on Jan. 18, 2022 with a single gunshot wound to his head and two minor graze wounds on each of his hands, according to the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators believe he had been dead for two days before his employer reported him missing. He had only been living in the RV park for four days.
Police combed through Raspberry’s cell phone data and interviewed multiple neighbors, but all leads were exhausted — until last week when a local principal called to report the 10-year-old’s chilling confession and threats to kill another student.
"Based on this information the Deputy contacted the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division. Investigators determined based on the information the child told the school, the child may have knowledge about the murder of Brandon," the department said.
The boy, whose identity has not been revealed, "described in detail" in interviews with police every detail of the cold-blooded murder he allegedly carried out when he was just 7 years old.
The boy had been visiting his grandfather, who lived at the same RV park, at the time and noticed Rasberry walking around the lot, police said.
On the night of the murder, the child said he took a 9-millimeter pistol — which he described as "dirt and army green" in color — from the glovebox of his grandfather’s truck and crept into Rasberry’s RV.
"The Child stated he observed Brandon sleeping in his bed and approached Brandon and discharged the firearm into Brandon striking him one time in the head," police stated.
"The child stated as he was leaving the RV he discharged the firearm another time into the couch inside the RV. The child then exited the RV and returned the firearm to the glovebox of the truck."
According to investigators, the boy had no clear motive for the deranged crime.
He admitted he had never met his victim and didn’t even know his name.
"The child was also asked if he was mad at Brandon for some reason or if Brandon had ever done anything to him to make him mad, the child stated no," police said.
That same day, police tracked down the suspected weapon at a pawn shop the child’s grandfather had since sold it to. It was later matched with spent shell casings that were collected at the scene of the murder.
Most shockingly — the boy can’t be charged with Rasberry’s death. Texas law states that a child cannot be responsible for a crime until they are 10 years old.
Rasberry’s family is not only outraged that their loved one’s killer won’t be punished for the murder, but is shocked at how young the kid was.
"Finding out it was a 7-year-old that committed the murder, a senseless murder at that, it’s just tragic. It’s kind of hard to wrap your head around," Rasberry’s brother, Jonathan Fojtik, told KENS5.
"I feel like the boy knew exactly what he was doing," Fojtik added.
"Why wasn’t the child being supervised more?"
The boy was placed on a 72-hour emergency detention following his confession before being taken to a psychiatric hospital in San Antonio, Texas for evaluation and treatment.
He has since been booked on making terroristic threats charges for the incident involving his classmate and is being held in county jail.

Just so long as we're keeping this in perspective. [sarc]
I'd hate to think what would happen if he hurt somebody's feelings.

[WUSA9] GREENBELT, Md. — Police in Prince George's County are investigating after multiple people were shot in the Greenbelt area near Schrom Hills Recreation Center. Police believe it began as a senior skip day for students across multiple high schools in the area.
Investigators with Greenbelt Police say a group of roughly 600 people had planned the water gun fight in Bowie Friday afternoon. Bowie Police and Prince George's County Police dispersed the group, who made its way to Schrom Hills Park in Greenbelt.
Bringing guns to a water pistol fight? That seems excessive.

When I was in college there was a game on campus called KAOS - Killing as Organized Sport. It involved teams trying to do hits with water pistols. Nowadays it would bring out SWAT.

[AFRICANEWS] In Mali, as elsewhere in West Africa, there is no respite from the searing heatwave which has descended on the region.
It can get hot in Africa in the summer? Who woulda thunkit?
Souleymane Samake is a presenter at Benbakan community radio station on the outskirts of the capital, Bamako.
He says most of its listeners are farmers and many of his broadcasts are currently focused on the weather.
“The provisional weather forecast predicts 41 degrees during the day. So, this interval will last for a week. Let's be careful don't go out, we must protect ourselves against this heat,” he tells listeners.
During a break between broadcasts, Samake says the heat is abnormally high, which is why “it is important for us to provide precise information”.
While it is the hot season, this year, temperatures in Mali, as elsewhere in the Sahel, are reaching record levels.
On top of hotter temperatures, the country is also suffering under an unprecedented electricity crisis that began last year, leaving citizens with no respite from the heat.
It is also having an impact on the country’s ubiquitous ice sellers, often patronised by those looking to cool drinks during the hot season.
With lots of areas receiving less than six hours of electricity per day, many of them have gone out of business.
Djeneba Dembele has been able to continue selling ice due to a combination of solar power and a generator.
One of her clients, Dramane Traore, stopped by to buy two bags of ice.
“We are at 32 or 35 degrees. By 2pm, it will be 40 degrees. It’s unbearable, it’s so hot right now,” he says.
Experts say the deadly heatwave, the worst in living memory, is linked to climate change.

[The Warzone] While it's fair to say we've seen our share of impressive lineups of B-2 Spirit stealth bombers in the past, including their involvement in elephant walks as well as amassed at foreign airbases, it's not every day that 12 B-2s take to the sky in succession.
That's exactly what happened at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, on April 15, when a dozen B-2s took part in a mass fly-off exercise. This was so many of the bombers that none of the official pictures from the event, seen at the top of this story and below, show all 12 aircraft at once. This represents the majority of the total number of B-2s currently operated by the Air Force, which stands at 20 aircraft, per the service, although one is damaged during a landing incident at the base and another is still undergoing repairs from a similar incident. Of that number, typically only 11 or 12 are actually "deployed" under the terms of the New START treaty with Russia and are available for combat missions.
Regardless, the type is extremely maintenance intensive and is the most expensive direct combat airframe to fly in the USAF's inventory. Having 12 of these jets available at any given time to take to the skies at all is highly impressive.

Bear in mind, each hour of flight time for a B-2 requires over 100 hours of maintenance time, according to the GAO. And don't leave them out in the rain.

[AFRICANEWS] Kenya’s military chief Gen. Francis Ogolla died in a helicopter crash west of the country, President William Ruto announced Thursday and declared three days of national mourning.
The helicopter was carrying 11 people, including Gen. Ogolla, when it crashed Thursday and caught fire in a remote area near the border with Uganda, killing nine people onboard, the president said.
It is unclear what caused the crash.
Gen. Ogolla, 61, was on a tour of the country’s troubled western region that has seen frequent attacks by local bandidos.
He was appointed Kenya’s Chief of Defense Forces in April last year after Gen. Robert Kibochi retired.
Political controversy surrounded Ogolla even before his appointment, when he was accused by the country’s electoral commission chairperson as being part of a national security council delegation that tried to influence the outcome of the 2022 general election against President Ruto.
Ruto later explained that he called Gen. Ogolla before his appointment and said that, despite the election controversy, he was the most qualified for the job.
Gen Ogolla joined Kenya’s military force 40 years ago.
He was a graduate of École Militaire de Gay Paree, the National Defence College of Kenya, Egerton University and the University of Nairobi.
Gen. Ogolla is survived by his wife Aileen, two children and a grandson.

[Hill} Contractors for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) cut access to tests for transplant patients that could show early signs of organ rejection despite expert physicians advising the opposite, a new report has found.
The Health Equity in Transplantation Coalition (HEiTC) announced Friday that a Freedom of Information Act request found that Medicare contractors limited access to blood tests even after the recommendations given by the government-chosen panel of medical experts.
Al B. Sure!, executive chairman of HEiTC, said he was "incredibly alarmed" by the findings.
"Instead of listening to these experts and considering what these tests meant to tens of thousands of transplant recipients, the contractor not only ignored but withheld their expert opinion," he said. "In the process, they took away a vital tool for other doctors to monitor an overwhelmingly Black and Brown transplant community, which for the last year has lived with more anxiety than they should."
"It’s never been more important that these cutbacks are reversed and coverage without any tie to a biopsy is restored," he added.

The coalition, which was founded by music artist Al B. Sure! and the Rev. Al Sharpton following the billing article, said the change disproportionately affected Black and Brown transplant recipients.

[Gateway] Dr. Syafiq Nordin, a well-known Malaysian medical practitioner with a significant following on social media, has issued a profound apology for his past endorsements of the Pfizer vaccine during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an emotional Facebook post, which gained attention after being highlighted by aussie17, a whistleblower from within the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Syafiq outlines his regret and issues an apology for his past advice during the vaccination campaign.
BLUF:
"Do you guys want to know something? When they want to vaccinate you with a thousand guarantees and promises, you believe them. Then they apologize, and you believe them again. After apologizing, they need to publish an article or research, right? There, you believe that article too. ahahaha. That’s the difference between you and us who didn’t get vaccinated. We see it from the perspective of a culling program and implementation of evil that must continue. You see it as a medical mistake."
Sorry, guys. These benefits are only available to bio-females who were born that way, not to those who later discover that they identify as women.
[Blaze via WND] Researchers have discovered that pregnancy delivers a special gift to mothers — and it's not only their newborns. Last month, a new study published in Cell Metabolism, a peer-reviewed scientific journal, showed that scientists have confirmed what previous studies have shown: Pregnancy takes a toll on a woman's body in terms of her biological age.
In other words, pregnancy accelerates aging. But researchers also found that any acceleration can be greatly reversed postpartum.
Researchers tracked more than 100 women through their pregnancies, taking blood samples to measure their biological age and other epigenetic markers. They found the physiological stress from pregnancy accelerated biological age by several years.
But when those same women were studied three months postpartum, researchers found a "pronounced reversal of biological aging," according to the study.
"The magnitude of the decrease in maternal biological age from the pregnant to non-pregnant state was about 2 to 3 times more than the increase in biological age from early to late pregnancy," the study said.
Dr. Kieran O'Donnell, an assistant professor at Yale who helped conduct the study, explained:
At three months postpartum, we saw a remarkably large decrease in biological age, by as much as eight years for some individuals, so while pregnancy increases biological age there is a clear (and pronounced) recovery in the postpartum.
Importantly, researchers found that women who breastfed after delivery experienced a greater reversal in biological age.
By contrast, a higher body-mass index negatively impacted the reversal. That means women already experiencing poor metabolic health cannot tap into the fountain of youth that pregnancy apparently provides.
