I wonder...
An air strike typically has two phases. First comes the suppression of enemy air defense (buzzword: SEAD) where the SAM sites get jammed and/or whacked, followed by the main strike package that blows the target(s) to hell and gone. Being a big whoop dee doo, it's hard to ignore or deny it happened. And generally, everyone know who done it.

One the other hand, suppose the exact same events play out in slow motion. An AD radar blows up near Isfahan, for example. No one takes credit and the victims can blame it on an accident or insurgents or whatever. They don't need to respond because no one claimed the deed and no one is losing face. A week or two later, a similar thing happens. Over time, air defense systems are removed from the board, when suddenly all hell breaks loose and important things are blowing up everywhere all at once.

tl;dr: What if we are witnessing a slow-motion response to the Iranian attack? They say revenge is a dish best served cold. Maybe it is even better on small plates.
