[RIA] If you are told that a terrible threat about forty-eight legs is coming to all of humanity, then it means that they will soon begin to prohibit you from doing something? But it is not necessary, since prohibitions are a thing that does not work well and does not bring profit. No, rather, they will simply start taking your money away.
[PJ] Every presidential election sees its share of no-shot candidates in the primaries who often fall by the wayside before the voters are involved. The previous two stood out because the Republicans in 2016, then the Democrats in 2020, started off with fields so crowded that it seemed as if every registered voter in each party had tossed a hat into the ring.
The numbers are more manageable for the GOP this time around, but any hope that it would be a "normal" primary season was shot when Donald Trump decided to have another go at it and the Democrats began preemptively interfering with the process by deploying some of the most unscrupulous prosecutors and judges ever seen.
This one has been weird from the get-go and it's just going to get weirder.
There used to be clear reasons for outlier candidates to burn through some donor cash on the way to electoral oblivion. They were either trying to raise their profiles for future elections or, in most cases, doing an extended audition for a gig in the next administration should their party's candidate win.
The 2024 GOP field is filled with several candidates who have branded themselves as anti-Trump. As he is the overwhelming frontrunner in the polls, it's safe to say that his detractors aren't jockeying for eventual positions in his cabinet.
While it's true that the media market has been lucrative for Trump-bashing Republicans, the major outlets are pretty full when it comes to useful idiots at the moment. And, honestly, one doesn't need to run for office to get some camera time to whine about Donald Trump.

Christie's running ads in New England (along w/ DeSantis & Haley); they came up a few times during the college football games on Saturday. I forgot the tagline of the ad but I just laughed when I heard it.
Trump ought to screw up his name and call him Krispy Kreme instead of Chris Christie.

He knew he had no chance and bilked anti-Trump donors out of a lot of money. I applaud him for that at least. Now it is time for him to ride of into the sunset and let another bilk anti-Trump donors out of money.
[IsraelNationalNews] It sounds strange to our modern ears that our father Avraham, in trying to understand G-d’s justice in destroying the city of Sodom, failed to ask the most important question: "surely there are innocent civilians in Sodom, women and children? How can You kill the innocent along with the guilty?" Instead, Avraham focused on the existence and number of righteous people in Sodom and stopped his inquiries when even ten righteous men could not be found.
The absence of righteous people defines a city and its moral worth far more than do disingenuous assertions about the presence of "innocent civilians," whose innocence is assumed but far from proven.
But are there ten righteous people in Gaza — ten individuals whose moral code and ethical commitments are so refined that somehow that wretched place should be spared the natural consequences due to the perpetrators (and supporters) of the worst atrocities against Jews since the Holocaust? I have seen no evidence of that.

But are there ten righteous people in Gaza
Cute story.
Doesn't consider population density.
Prob need tens of thousands now.
And there aren't.

Of course there are righteous in Gaza. And all are spying for Israel — how else could Israel have called tens of thousands of cell phones to warn their owners to go to southern Gaza to get away from the invasion?

Many contemporary commentators say that Abraham was figuring how many righteous people would be needed to 'reform' Sodom.
That contrasts with the story of Noah where God separated the few righteous and destroyed the rest. Also, ultimately, God had to use the 'save only the righteous' method on Sodom also.

Don't forget Lot with his wife and children.
The wife dies from the pyroclastic flow, the daughters are inseminated by Lot, a good man.
[IsraelNationalNews] Rabbi Amichai Eliyahu, son of Rabbi of Tzfat Shmuel Eliyahu, responded to Meretz head Zehava Gal-On following her remarks against his father, who opposes the IDF's joint service order mandating mixed-gender units.
"'Filth'?! I think the ones who have to wash the filth from their hands are you and those like you. You, whose hands are full of the blood of the victims you brought us under the Oslo Accords," wrote the rabbi's son.
"For years I've been asking myself how people like you go to sleep at night. How you can fall asleep without hearing the voices of those children whose deaths you brought about.
"After systematically importing murderers from Tunis to Israel, you placed weapons in their hands. You silenced dissenters. You violated the basic right of people to speak and cry out and make their voices heard, after you sealed your hearts to the cries of the families of the murdered. The murdered whose deaths you and your ilk brought about!"
However, the rabbi's son writes, "I don't think you're filth; your hypocrisy is the filth. You, who dedicates your entire life to weakening the IDF, who hounds soldiers who give themselves and their lives for this nation, the nation that you're trying to fragment and demolish. That you lent your hand to buy a car for a corrupt Knesset member for the price of the Oslo Accords. Once you clean yourself of all this, you'll be able to understand that the rabbis and educators are encouraging the girls to contribute to the Jewish people in hospitals, cyber units, outlying schools, and more.
"It's difficult for girls to be pushed into a tank with boys. It's difficult that you ignore sexual attraction on the one hand while screaming about sexual abuse on the other. It's difficult that you obscure physiological differences. It's difficult when a company commander gets slapped by a girl terrorist and does nothing. It's difficult that soldiers flee from a ramming attack in Armon Hanatziv. It's difficult and therefore the rabbis gently criticize, but adamantly continue to encourage the youth to enlist and contribute to the State of Israel, each in a way that suits him. Unfortunately, the division of labor is as follows: You'll continue to encourage Breaking the Silence, B'Tselem, and Hamas, and we'll continue to educate our children to contribute to the country - even to people like you."

[NYP] Saturday’s rally in Washington makes it beyond obvious: The left won’t accept anything less than total US abandonment of Israel.
The chants of "Allahu Akbar" and "F—k Joe Biden" as the protesters smeared red on the White House gates made that pretty plain.
President Biden is trying to paper over that fundamental divide in his coalition by talking up the idea of "pauses" in Israel’s drive to eliminate Hamas.
But Hamas has made it plain that it won’t accept any efforts to reduce Gazans’ suffering: On Friday its fighters purportedly mowed down Palestinians trying to flee south; on Saturday it attacked IDF forces seeking to open a route for Gazans to escape.
(And it’s still blindly firing rockets and missiles into Israel — continuing to target civilians.)
Israel, meanwhile, has said it won’t even think about any pause unless Hamas hands over the hostages it seized during the Oct. 7 terror attacks.
That’s something the group’s leaders, safely ensconced in Qatar, could order any time; instead, they offer vows to keep on with future terror raids until Israel is destroyed.

Just like the Never Trumpers insisting they "will take the Republican party back," the dems who realize anti-Semitism is not a good look for them will claim they are going to "take their party back."
Good luck with that...

[PJ] There was a huge pro-Hamas protest in Washington, D.C., on Saturday afternoon that quickly degenerated into an orgy of hate against Jews and Israel.
Some estimates placed the crowd size at 100,000, although D.C. police refused to give any estimates. What was absolutely clear, however, was that there were very few "peace activists" in the crowd, given what they were chanting.
"From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free," and "Long live the Intifada" was frequently chanted by marchers. Another chant intoned that Israel "does not have the right to exist."
These aren't protesters. They're calling for the blood of Jews. And anyone who says differently isn't listening.
Marchers smeared red paint on the white stone gates of the White House, screaming "Allahu akbar...F—k Joe Biden," a New York Post reporter observed.
[USArc News] A recent study led by Stanford University has shed light on a concerning issue related to gas-powered appliances in our homes. This study, published in Environmental Science & Technology, has revealed that these appliances can significantly elevate the levels of benzene, a well-known cancer-causing chemical also found in cigarette smoke, within our living spaces. The findings are particularly alarming, as the research suggests that indoor concentrations of benzene resulting from the flames of gas stoves can be even worse than the average concentrations of benzene from secondhand smoke.
The implications of this study are far-reaching and call for increased attention from lawmakers, experts, and consumers alike. While debates continue regarding potential bans on gas stoves, this new research underscores the importance of considering a switch to electric appliances sooner rather than later.
One notable advantage of transitioning to energy-efficient electric appliances is the potential for substantial savings on monthly energy bills. Moreover, these electric appliances can have a positive impact on the air quality inside homes, thereby mitigating potential health concerns, particularly among young children. To sweeten the deal, new tax breaks and incentives may make these high-end electric appliances more affordable for homeowners.
The primary concern surrounding gas appliances centers on the release of benzene, a chemical associated with childhood asthma and an increased risk of certain cancers, such as leukemia, according to the American Cancer Society. Benzene, a volatile liquid at room temperature, quickly evaporates into the air and is one of the most widely used chemicals in the United States, with applications in plastics, detergents, pesticides, gasoline, and even cigarette smoke, as noted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

1) That YouTube clip was more like an ad from the electric stove industry, with a sprig of speculation thrown in.
2) How many of these newfound studies about the alleged dangers of gas stoves, which have been around for at least sixty years now, get completely tossed out the window when it's revealed (rough guess here) at least 95% of all kitchen stoves have hood fans, designed to get rid of all that cooking air? I have yet to see a study take hood fans / adequate circulation into account, so I'll just keep dismissing them as the panic inducing misinformation nuggets they are.

I've lived in houses and apartments with gas stoves all my life and that's getting to be quite some time now. After all that time I've decided I'd rather risk it than go hungry or eat uncooked food.

[Peter and Ginger Breggin substack] A sample of 1.5 million Danish people reveals two devastating findings: (1) at least 80% of the population will be diagnosed and/or medicated for "mental illness" in their lifetime on two or more occasions, and (2) they will end up with "subsequent" "long-term socioeconomic difficulties" "including lower income, unemployment, and increased likelihood to live alone and to be unmarried."1
Does this prove that mental illness ruins lives? No, when 80% or more of the population is treated as mentally ill, the concept has no meaning or relevance, except that it results in two powerfully disabling outcomes: (1) psychiatric drugs that universally disable the brain temporarily and too often permanently and (2) stigmatization and demoralization that undermine how the individual is viewed by himself and others.

I see it every day. All sorts of drugs in use. So many ADD and OCD. Nothing about second hand smoke or any harm from Cannabis. Switch from cigarettes to Cannabis big time. Law enforcement well aware of future and current issues. You can now get anything within the prison system. Drug users from the hippie days run the mad house. One current example watch your car insurance rates go up.

One quick example. 32 year old female discharged from hospital day before. Distraught because they didn't do anything for her. Wanted for prostitution in Florida. Two children taken away by social services. Drug use main reason. Currently she has sepsis, MERS and blood poisoning. ADD and OCD. Seems they don't really treat drug users. Lost cause.

Our problem is, the medical industry hates to see people wander around in a non dependent position.
They'll help you to death. Or as least as helpful as is convenient. Just fit in a box.

A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
