[MSN] A politically connected Detroit synagogue president was found stabbed to death Saturday morning outside her home in the city’s Lafayette Park neighborhood, east of downtown.
Samantha Woll, 40, led the Isaac Agree Downtown Detroit Synagogue and previously worked for U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin, D-Holly, and on the reelection campaign of Attorney General Dana Nessel, a Democrat.
Police said in an afternoon statement that they were investigating after finding a body stabbed multiple times in the 1300 block of Joliet Place. A trail of blood led to the victim's home, where police said they believe the crime occurred.
Detroit Police Chief James White asked for patience in a statement released Saturday evening and said an update on the investigation would come Sunday. "Over the course of the last several hours, the DPD has mobilized many of its resources and has been leveraging every law enforcement and community resource it has to help further the investigation. Understandably, this crime leaves many unanswered questions."
Police have not yet identified a motive, they said. They were called to a woman found lying on the ground unresponsive at about 6:30 a.m. and pronounced her dead at the scene, they said.
The FBI is aware of the case and is assisting Detroit police as requested, said Gabrielle Szlenkier, a spokesperson for the FBI's Detroit field office, in an email. The FBI referred all questions to local police.
As of Saturday afternoon, police were still in the area where Woll was killed — an upscale townhome district designed by the famed architect Mies van der Rohe. The adjoining properties were surrounded by caution tape and a Michigan State Police K-9 was seen sniffing in bushes.
In a social media post, U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Detroit, called Woll a friend and an organizing community member who had a sweet smile and warm eyes.
"Our community is devastated and we are shocked," she said. "Please keep her family and our community in your prayers."
In 2017, The Detroit Jewish News selected Woll as one of its "36 under 36," describing her as co-chair of the American Jewish Committee’s ACCESS Detroit Young Leadership Program and founder of the Muslim-Jewish Forum of Detroit, a grassroots organization aimed at building relationships between young adults of those faiths.

[montage of philthy Philly phunctionaries passing wads, rolls, and envelopes of cash] No corruption expert I, but I did watch a Nile Hilton Incident last night.
[Gateway] In a recent episode of his show, Tucker Carlson addressed an issue that has been the subject of intense scrutiny and debate for more than three years: the circumstances surrounding the death of George Floyd. Carlson broke through the obfuscating cloud of mainstream media and challenged the narrative that George Floyd was murdered by a ’racist’ white cop, Derek Chauvin.
He questioned the slogans, mantras, and beliefs that have been embedded into the collective American consciousness by a media obsessed with sensationalism, rather than fact.
On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a Black man, died while in police custody. Video footage showed Officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck for over nine minutes. This led to widespread protests across the United States under the "Black Lives Matter" banner, advocating against police brutality.
As a result, Chauvin was convicted of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. He was sentenced to 21 years in prison.
Among the documents and testimonies, Amy Sweasy, a top prosecutor in Hennepin County, discussed a crucial conversation she had with Hennepin County Medical Examiner Dr. Andrew Baker the day after Floyd’s death.
Dr. Baker reportedly said that there were “no medical findings that showed any injury to the vital structures of Mr. Floyd’s neck. There were no medical indications of asphyxia or strangulation.”
“In other words, George Floyd, according to the official autopsy, was not murdered. He died instead of what we used to call natural causes, which in his case would include decades of drug use, as well as the fatal concentration of fentany that was in his system on his final day. So this was not a killing, it was yet another narcotics OD in a country that records more than 100,000 of them every year. The medical examiner clearly understood that and, in fact, articulated it,” Tucker Carlson said.
A former Hennepin County, Minnesota, prosecutor is suing her employer, alleging that she was a victim of sex discrimination and retaliation. That’s par for the course. Hennepin County is entirely Democrat, and Democrats don’t always feel obligated to follow their loudly stated rules. The reason Amy Sweasy’s lawsuit matters to us is because George Floyd died in Hennepin County…and depositions in Sweasy’s case make it very clear that the prosecutors always knew that Derek Chauvin and the other three police did not kill George Floyd:

Proof that for Demokrats, nothing matters except keeping blacks on the "plantation". Derek Chauvin's life and freedom are unimportant when false MSM propaganda whipped up mob violence, so a white cop was fed to the mob notwithstanding the truth!
Feed that to every marxist who rants about "No one is above the law", with a chorus of "No justice, No peace".

From following the trial here, I came to two conclusions:
1) The other cops were not only blameless, they tried to intervene in Floyd's behalf by pointing out he was exhibiting the Police Depatment's warning signs of OD.
2) Chauvin didn't kill Floyd; St. Floyd did that himself with an OD; Chauvin was however contributory by ignoring the other cops' warnings and not noticing (or perhaps, caring) himself.
[AFRICANEWS] Ali Bongo Ondimba's former chief of staff was finally released from prison on October 20, after spending nearly four years in solitary confinement and more than a week after his confrontation with Sylvia Bongo Ondimba, the wife of the deposed former leader.
Franco-Gabonese, Laccruche Alihanga, who had become the real strongman of the system after Ali Bongo's stroke in October 2018, was conditionally released in the company of two of his relatives.
Laccruche Alihanga, his brother Grégory and the former Minister of Transport, Justin Ndoundangoye, all thrown in prison as part of a clean-up operation, were released the same night. However, there's more than one way to stuff a chicken... their legal troubles are not over yet. They are under house arrest and are still being prosecuted for embezzlement of public funds.
Lacrcruche spent almost four years in detention since his arrest on December 3, 2019.
In the process, Ali Bongo Ondimba's former chief of staff was caught up in another file of false administrative documents. He was found guilty and sentenced to 5 years in prison by the courts, for "obtaining an administrative document on the basis of a false declaration".
Since the coup d'état on August 30, 2023, ending the reign of Ali Bongo Ondimba, Sylvia Bongo Ondimba is no longer in the good graces of power.
Accused of money laundering, she is still held inside Libreville Central Prison, where Brice Laccruche Alihanga was detained.

Lovely description of a day spent in cultivated wild loveliness.
[Financial Times] Iain Smith hops through a patch of thigh-high heather, the barrel of a shotgun resting idly on his forearm. "If it looks green and mossy, don’t step on it," he says. The only way forward is green moss. "Is there another way?" I ask. He shushes me and points to the hill up ahead.
Smith and I are on a grouse hunt. The British way of describing this is "walked-up shooting", a practice that has been common in the UK since the 16th century, where birds are flushed out as a group crosses a moor. The event has been organised by Scottish country-house hotel Gleneagles, of which Smith is head shooting coach, and includes 10 humans, four guns and eight dogs. So far two birds have been shot: one by the hotel’s marketing director — an event that seems to surprise everyone — and another by its director of leisure, a man whose "wife has banned feathers in the house" and who likes to roast his catch wrapped in bacon.
[Breitbart] Nestle, the world’s largest food company, announced on Wednesday that it will shutter or sell the Wyeth Nutrition baby formula factory in Askeaton, Ireland, no later than the first quarter of 2026.
The major reason given for this decision was that China’s birth rate has collapsed so much that the plant’s output, which was exported to Asia, is no longer needed.
“The number of newborn babies in China has declined sharply from some 18 million per year in 2016 to fewer than 9 million projected in 2023. The market, which had previously been reliant on imported infant formula products, is also seeing rapid growth in locally produced products,” Nestle stated.
The company said it would shutter a research and development center at the Askeaton plant by 2025, putting a total of 542 local jobs on the line.

Baby formula is made from cow’s milk, soy milk, or a combination of the two1. The milk is then processed to remove the fat and lactose and to add vitamins and minerals1. Some formulas also contain prebiotics or probiotics1.The process of creating baby formula involves the following steps23:
Mixing of ingredients
Pasteurization
Homogenization
Standardization
Packaging

Not being a chemical engineer, this is pure speculation, but seems to me that with an industrial chemical reactor you can make anything from baby formula to organo-phosphate pesticides (aka nerve gas). What you get out depends on what ingredients you put in. Kinda like baking.

#3 Considering that Iraq had baby formula factories all over Iraq, makes me wonder, just how hard is it to make baby milk formula?
Serious question, what does it take to make baby milk formula?

SCFI,
It's actually pretty easy, and that's the issue. Decades ago, the USDA laid down extremely strict rules for how the stuff is to be made and with what...so when a plant or two went down here, there was plenty of capacity in Europe to pick up the slack, but nobody here was willing to relax the rules enough to let it happen. (Yes, some European product was allowed in, but it took so long that it might as well not have been done at all.)

Looked up my baby discharge paper and it said, milk, condensed milk, dark Kayro syrup and heat to 145 F and then cool. Very scientific and mediciney. It's a wonder I lasted this long (hint: I saw Kookla, Fran and Ollie on Live TV)

SteveS you can. I worked in a chemical factoty for 25 years. Baby formula doesn't need a chemical reactor.

Seeking Cure For Ignorance natural mother's milk contains a lot of things formula doesn't. Breastmilk contains living cells, stem cells, white cells, immune factors and antibodies which cannot be added to formula. And that’s just the beginning. As well, not on the list of ingredients on the formula can are undesirable ingredients such as unacceptable high levels of aluminum, arsenic and cadmium

[Federalist] "Bidenomics" is taking its toll on the U.S. housing market, as mortgage rates hit their highest level in more than two decades.
On Wednesday, the average rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage hit 8 percent, marking the highest level recorded since 2000. According to the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, this estimate means "that on a $500,000 home purchase, Americans will pay an approximate $1,500 a month Biden mortgage tax" for 30 years. For context, the average rate on a 30-year mortgage was 2.65 percent when former President Donald Trump left office in January 2021.
With higher mortgage rates, homebuyers are becoming increasingly wary of purchasing a new home in the current market. For example, a recent Fannie Mae survey found 83 percent of consumers "believe mortgage rates will stay at their current elevated level or rise further in the next 12 months." Separately, 84 percent agreed that "now is a bad time to buy a home." The latter percentage is the "highest share on record," according to Yahoo Finance.
Higher rates have conversely led to a limited number of homes on the market, as sellers are fearful of having to purchase a new home under the current rates.
"Mortgage rates are expected to remain elevated for the time being," Hannah Jones, an economic research analyst, told Yahoo. "It seems that [mortgage lock effect] is going to be the mode of operation until something shifts substantially, [such as] inflation has made big improvements."

Shouldn't Bidenomics inflation rates, coupled with Federal Income Taxes for Return on Investments, be generating $$$$$$ for the DC Swamp?
But then why are Fed tax revenues collected to date over $457 Billion behind last the last fiscal year? Which 2021-2022 itself was stagnated by a Pandemic. Especially given the tax brackets have not been adjusted to account for the real economy/housing inflation rates yet.
Could it be, the newly hired & armed IRS agents are still busy with their SWAT & Tactical assault training?

"Since Biden took office, the compounded or aggregated inflation rate, whichever term you prefer, is over 21 percent. That means that Americans are paying 21 percent more today to live the same way they were living just two and a half years ago."
"Perhaps the worst detriment to attaining the American dream, though, is the current interest rate situation... but it's also made buying a house nearly impossible. What has historically been the safest way for American families to grow their wealth? That would be the ownership of property. Under Biden, mortgage rates have topped eight percent. That translates to around $1000 more a month for a $400,000 house than just two years prior. "

^Yea, well, supporting a huge non-productive (sometimes actually harmful - see affirmative action) population is not cheap. By comparison, IMO, military-industriac complex are peanuts.
#7
Home prices have risen since our old 10+% mortgages in significant part due to decreased rates. Rising rates will drive home prices down, tying many people to their current location, unable to follow employment or politics or family to somewhere more appealing because they can’t sell for what they owe.

#4 - I decided to buy where others don't want to live. Built a new house in a new development, quarter acre lot, 1200 sq ft. Pretty much in the boonies. 75K of which I put 32K down. Monthly income was 1.8K. monthly payments less than a studio apartment up in the big city. About 40 miles to the big city. You could add 1K or more for every mile towards the city limits for housing back then.

#2, I understand that the so-called Inflation Reduction Act contained so many tax breaks and loopholes for all the green fantasies that it was pretty much guaranteed to tank federal revenues.

She's back on the market, fellas
[Regnum] Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has separated from Andrea Giambruno,
...who apparently felt he didn’t need to keep it in his pants...
her partner and father of her daughter. The Prime Minister announced this on October 20 on her Instagram page (belongs to the Meta organization,
...that’s Facebook, for those like me who’ve forgotten...
which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
Really?! Can’t say I blame them.
“My relationship with Andrea Giambruno, which lasted almost 10 years, is ending,” Meloni wrote on the social network.
The couple has a seven-year-old daughter. The Prime Minister thanked the man for the wonderful years, the difficulties they went through, and his daughter Ginevra. She added that she would value their shared past and friendship for the sake of their common child. In addition, Meloni made it clear that what happened would not affect her political career.
TV journalist Andrea Giambruno got into a sexist scandal. He made several controversial statements about women into the microphone, not knowing that he was being recorded. Also a month ago, he said that women should give up alcohol so as not to expose themselves to the risk of rape.
Giorgia Meloni, who came to power in October following the general election victory of her Brothers of Italy party, was herself raised by a single mother. She met Giambruno at the Mediaset studio before appearing on the show. The TV presenter in one interview described their meeting as “love at first sight.”
As Regnum reported , in August, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau separated from his wife Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau after 18 years of marriage. The couple officially signed a separation agreement. In Canada, such a decision is not technically a divorce. They got married in 2005. The couple has three children.
